- Jeffrey (10/5): A fabulous hotel in the wonderful city of Athens - What a wonderful stay I had at The Modernist Hotel, it’s super stylish, really well located and easy to get to all the major sights, an amazing and very friendly young staff, from reception, the cafe and the bar, the cleaning staff, and crowning it all a fantastic roof top bar where you can drink looking at wonderful views of Athens. I’m definitely coming back there again next year.
- Vitor (8/5): - Friendly staff. Great location walkable to nice bars and restaurants. Good breakfast. Nice rooftop. Unfortunately, the bathroom is not practical. Water goes everywhere when you are having a shower because there is no tray, door or curtain. Window in the room was not accessible because it was above the bed frame.

- Richard (10/5): - Lovely, well kept modern hotel in a lovely residential neighborhood. Some sights are walking distance and a Metro stop is right nearby. The thermostat control is obtuse—didn’t seem to work the same way two days in a row. Front desk can set it remotely. Breakfasts are substantial.

Our flight home was cancelled after three hours on the tarmac and we scrambled to find a hotel for the night. Thrilled that we stumbled on the Modernist. Would definitely stay again. A great experience and a great value.

- Lucy (10/5): - What an absolute gem this hotel is. Honestly one of our favourite places we’ve stayed for a city break. The staff are exceptional. So friendly and helpful and just lovely. Every single one of them. From reception, wait team, cleaners - they couldn’t have been nicer. The breakfast is delicious - we tried basically everything and it was all so good. We had a family room as we have 3 kids and it was great - enough room for us all, lovely balcony, looked modern and stylish. There are great restaurants all around, we walked to the lovely botanic gardens and monument for fallen soldiers and quick taxi to acropolis. Genuinely this is an absolute treasure of a hotel and we would definitely come back if we return to Athens.

- Sylvia (4/5): - Having worked with a global luxury hotelier, I tend to put a different lens on hotel reviews. The Modernist Hotel, Athens, is modern, fresh, and comes with some of the best staff I’ve ever experienced. Service is paramount to them and they genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Their breakfast selection is amazing. It’s fresh fruit and breads and cereals are some of the best I’ve experienced. Beds are very comfortable, shower is excellent. Loads of hot water. The drawbacks though, could be things that would make you not return. Rooms are very small and they have no drawers or shelving for clothing. They have a few hangers in an open “closet” area and a large drawer underneath. But the drawer is taken up by the safe. Now, to get to the safe, you need to get down on your hands and knees as it’s at floor level. This is ridiculous. Clothes and belongings will be strewn across the room or you’ll be living out of your suitcase. When mentioning this to staff they will each say the same line “it’s part of the hotel concept”. The concept they are displaying is one of “suck it up” and “we don’t care. The bathroom is small and there’s little shelving for your bits and pieces. We had to remove a kettle from a small cupboard to store a few clothes.Same with a radio - we removed it from a ledge to use the ledge for our phone charger. The gym is quite appalling to be frank. It has a wooden treadmill and a wooden bike. The treadmill isn’t the standard flat surface but bowed.

- Ann (10/5): - The location is a bit far for walking to the Acropolis but if you have time and are able, it’s worth the walk. There are many neighborhoods and shops to explore along the way. Lycabettus Hill viewing area is within walking distance but it’s an uphill climb. Public transportation is close as well as many restaurants. Our room was comfortable, clean, and the breakfast was amazing. Highly recommend this hotel.
- Prabhansu (10/5): - Beautiful upscale neighborhood with great restaurants in the vicinity. The breakfast was exceptionally good. The front desk and breakfast staff were friendly and gracious, particularly Ian in front desk . The room cleaning staff did their job well, but would sometimes forget to replace glasses and cups, easy to fix by talking to front desk. The Modernist will be our preferred place to stay on future visits. We cancelled our booking in King George and booked in the Modernist mainly because of great reviews and lower cost - so glad we did it. The Kolonaki area is so much better than Syntagma square.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved staying at the Modernist - Everyone at the front desk and everyone in the restaurant was super friendly with meals, travel, going out suggestions, visiting the sights, etc. They helped me download apps for Taxi and food ordering. The breakfast is truly amazing with lots of options for both the food and the drinks and custom breakfast items. The only minor complaint I have is that they do not disturb sign is not honored . I had a “do not disturb” sign on the door, but housekeeping still knocked and entered. They apologized. The location is ideal, and right across a metro station. All in all-a great experience.

- Amie (10/5): - We were so pleasantly surprised by our stay at The Modernist. It is a smaller boutique hotel and captured EVERYTHING we had hoped for during our time in Athens. The staff and their recommendations were AMAZING. We did not have enough time to do sufficient research before we arrived and relied heavily on the help from the staff for restaurants (where locals go and not geared to tourists), how best to view the Acropolis, providing taxi service, where to walk to, etc. The room amenities included everything we hope to have when traveling - a great mattress and linens, sufficient AC, a window that opens, a makeup mirror, a full length mirror, a HOT shower with good pressure, a tea kettle, an iron and decent shelving and space to unpack. The included breakfast spanned over several hours so you didn't have to hurry to get it in. The food was delicious and the beverage service did not disappoint. We spent a fair amount of time on the roof top deck, which was comfortable and relaxing. The music was always on point and the convenience of ordering from the rooftop was an added bonus. We would stay at this hotel again and again.

They swore that all rooms are non-smoking but the smell was so bad and strong that they surely have a problem. We definitely over paid for the quality received, we will never go back. We are exhausted and stressed because of our lack of sleep. The staff was friendly enough but they just couldn’t address a huge issue with the state of their hotel room.

- Doxy (10/5): - This was our first stay at this hotel and we’re pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean with comfortable room of modern design. The staff was very welcoming, hospitable and helpful with all our requests. The hotel is conveniently located on in a quiet yet central neighbourhood. The breakfast was a generous buffet and the rooftop lounge provides a perfect end to the day with a view of the Acropolis in the distance. Next time we are in Athens we will definitely be returning to this hotel.

- Manuel (10/5): - I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Modernist and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and offered a stunning view. Every detail, from the luxurious bedding to the thoughtful amenities, contributed to an incredibly comfortable stay. The hotel's location is perfect—close to major attractions yet peaceful enough to provide a relaxing retreat. I would highly recommend staying here.
- James (10/5): - Only there for 1 night but it couldn’t have been a better experience. Stayed in Athens for an additional day after a 7-night Mediterranean cruise. Front desk was top-notch in helping secure our luggage until our room was ready. Upon our return from sight-seeing later that night the staff was great at getting us settled into our room. Room was clean, comfortable, and stylish. Free breakfast was just fine. Not huge spread but enough to adequately satisfy. Upon learning our flight back to the US had been cancelled, again the staff was phenomenal at reassuring us they would accommodate us additional nights if needed although we ended up not needing it. Also after getting our bearings of the area, we realized the location of the hotel was excellent and in walking distance to the main dining and shopping areas and the hop on- hop off bus. Highly recommend
- Allen (10/5): - I can’t say enough good things about this boutique hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Location was awesome for someone who doesn’t want to be in the tourist chaos. You can grab a cab for 5 min to take you to the center if you don’t feel like walking. The Kolonaki area is super cute, with restaurants, bars and shops that you don’t want to leave and go to the center anyways.

- Kristi-Anne (8/5): - We stayed at the Modernist Athens for 2 nights and had an overall very pleasant experience. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the location was close by restaurants and shops, and across the street from the Metro. It was a quick taxi ride away from many of the major destinations, like museums and the Acropolis. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, which was included. There was a vast array of pastries, yogurt, toppings, and some menu options as well that were made-to-order. The only complaints that I have were (1) We stayed in the Deluxe Room with two Balconies and there were no bathrobes or slippers. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but this is pretty standard in most 4-star hotels, so I was surprised when I did not see this. (2) This is something that I've never complained about in all my years traveling, but the toilet paper in the hotel was rough, like sandpaper. We decided to purchase our own toilet paper and even the basic economy version that we got from the local drug store was softer than what the hotel was using. These complaints are very minor and overall did not diminish our experience, but it would certainly elevate the experience if these small details were considered. We were very pleased with our stay.

Wonderful breakfast service, extremely convenient to the Acropolis, dining and shopping. The views of the Parthenon from the rooftop café in the evening while having drinks from the bar were amazing. I can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was.

- Agnieszka (10/5): The best! - We had a layover in Athens and stayed in a family room with two young children. We stayed in a 2 bedroom family room with two bathrooms. The service was exceptional, we felt very well looked after from check-in to check out. The hotel recommended car transfers and arranged a private tour for us of Athens. They even packed breakfast boxes for us since we were going to miss breakfast. The hotel is located in Kolonaki, a safe and lovely area of Athens. We were able to walk to get gelato at 10 pm with our kids and felt safe in the area.

The gym only fits two persons and the space for hanging clothes is practically non existent. However, the staff are nice and helpful.

- sebastian (10/5): - We had 2 rooms at The Modernist for 5 days and it was honestly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff is amazing. They always greet you with a warm smile and were very accommodating for all our needs and questions. We are many hours before our checkin due to our flight but we were able to enjoy the amenities until our room was ready. We went to the rooftop which has a beautiful view of the Acropolis and watched the sun rise. They had some blankets available so we took a nap for a few hours then went down the lobby/bar area for their amazing daily breakfast. Breads,pastels,cereals,eggs whichever way you want,pancakes,french toast,mini sandwiches and many other foods as well as fresh orange juice, coffee, fruits and vegetables. A buffet of food. Getting around the city was a breeze, Uber/Taxis always nearby or by foot or metro. We walked a few times to Syntagma Square which took us about 20 minutes and there are museums and other cultural sites you can see while walking. I can’t say enough about the staff. Truly a 5 star hotel.

- ANMOL (10/5): - This was my first trip to Greece. The incredible hotel staff were amongst the best I have met during all my travels. Nothing was too big an issue to help sort out. From arranging last minute transfers, to safety tips, to recommendations about local food and ATM's. It is a relatively new hotel in a great location. It has a great vibe and would definitely be going back if I am in that part of the world.

We had the XL room with wrap around balcony and jacuzzi tub. Amazing views! All of the little extras in the room with personalized notes made us feel quite special! The rooftop terrace is relaxing and the food was amazing! Breakfast is served in the little restaurant on the ground floor. Wide variety and everything was delicious! Overall did not want to leave and would love to return!

- John Ryan (6/5): - The Modernist is a great hotel but I wonder if its honeymoon period is fading. The staff were friendly but not particularly attentive. The location is great for walking around and very convenient for public transit. The room was small but comfortable, the shower was amazing, and the breakfast pastries were wonderful. I stayed for six nights and there was no mention of looking for a room upgrade at any point, and one night on the roof deck guests were abruptly dismissed at 7pm due to a private function with no notice. Even so I would probably stay there again. The proximity to the wonderful restaurant Simul up the block is a major draw.
