• Rebecca (1/5): - We booked and paid for this hotel (we also received messages from the hotel regarding our stay), however after spending an hour trying to find the hotel, a local resident told us it was closed. Luckily we managed to find another hotel who had the same owner and the receptionist called the owner - there was no compensation offered for either having the hotel advertised, accepting a booking or wasting our time. Not sure if this issue falls to the hotel or booking.com but apparently it has been closed for 6 months!!

• Guest (10/5): Very happy here. Staff are excellent, and I would definitely stay here again. - Location of Sebnem is perfect. Within very easy walking distance of everything in Sultanhamet, and nice to be able to come back to the hotel to relax on the terrace overlooking the water. Staff are very helpful and go out of their way to help you with your travels, transportation, or whatever you need. Rooms are clean, comfortable and the hotel is a great find. I've been to Istanbul before, and if we go back, we'd definitely book Sebnem, great choice! Nothing. Great location, staff are super friendly and very willing to help you with your travels. You really can't go wrong staying here!!

• Karen Webber (8/5): Wonderful value for money stay - The staff are the real gem of this hotel - Ali and Jacob gave us valuable information about the area and city, made sure we were comfortable at all times, and offered help with other services. The rooms are small and fairly basic, but very comfortable - the beds are very comfortable. There was some noise over the weekend, but seeing as the hotel is located so centrally it's to be expected. Fantastic view from the terrace. There were minor issues with facilities (bent pipes and broken seat in the bathroom) that could be easily repaired.
• Anne (8/5): - Die Lage ist top, wenn man ganz in der Nähe aller Sehenswürdigkeiten sein möchte (Hagya Sofia, Blaue Moschee usw.). Und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist super! Wir hatten ein 4-Bett Zimmer als Familie und mit viel Gepäck ist es ziemlich eng. Aber für den Preis kann man sich echt nicht beklagen!

The rooms were also very charming, comfortable and clean. The location was perfect, just a walking distance from the main sights and good restaurants. All our family had a lovely time where and we look forward to coming back!
• Gina Ocapan Albellar (1/5): A disappointing experience that felt exploitative for first-time guests. - I chose this hotel largely based on the impression of the photos displayed on its website, which portrayed a stylish, clean, and well-maintained property. . Disappointed by Misleading Photos I booked this place based on the beautiful photos shown on the website, but unfortunately, the reality didn’t match the presentation. The images online gave the impression of a clean, well-maintained, and inviting space—but what we encountered was quite different. The rooms looked outdated, the cleanliness was questionable, and several amenities were not as advertised. It felt misleading and left us disappointed. I hope future guests are shown more accurate visuals to set proper expectations.

• Celeste (10/5): Şebnem, and Jacob And Ali, made Istanbul even more memorable! - It was roomy & clean in the room. I especially like the terrace with beautiful views of the Bosphorus. Was a great place to relax after a busy day out. Nothing, really. Stairs are steep but that’s normal in Türkiye.

• Safa Afify (10/5): Amazing stay with the best view and the friendliest staff - The hotel is perfectly located near all the main sightseeing spots — just a short walk from Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile. The rooftop view was absolutely stunning, especially during breakfast and while enjoying tea at sunset — truly unforgettable moments! Thank you so much Ali and Abdallah. Everything was just perfect!

• Marc (4/5): A step-up from a hostel in a good location - not a hotel experience - The location is very central for the old city, and despite being in a busy, touristy area is located on a quiet side street with easy access by foot to all the main sights in the area. We couldn't understand why this hotel has such a high rating! The cleanliness of the room was far below expected standards. My partner and I had to use sanitiser and tissues to wipe down all hard surfaces (expect the floor) and were disgusted by how dirt and dust we cleaned up. The soft furnishing (cushions, curtains and drapes) equally look, feel and smell very dusty and dirty. We walked on the floor for just a few minutes in socks and the soles where black - thankfully the hotel provides disposable slippers but this is not an excuse for not washing the floors thoroughly. Bedsheets were washed but had stains and wear and tear. The same with towels. The bathroom felt like an afterthought, meaning that we could barely turn around in the shower and had to sit sideways on the toilet because of how it had been installed in the space.

• Irmi (4/5): Not what it used to be. - The location is close to what you want to see in the old town. There is a nice view from the terrace. The area has undergone significant changes. I felt less safe and respected than I did 10 years ago. We were constantly hassled to enter restaurants in a very touristy street nearby in a manner (walking path blocked and physically touched) that I do not find representative of the usually very respectful Turkish culture. I would not stay in that area again. Equally, the hotel has changed, it was less in shape, less clean, and the staff were less supportive than I remembered them to be. The rooftop terrace was filled with broken chairs that no one could sit on and dried-out plants. Sad really. The pictures on Booking.com do not accurately reflect the current state of the hotel.

The staff is incredibly friendly, they are helpful, proposing great spots to visit in the area and beyond. Certainly I recommend the place and would love to come back to this hotel in my next trip back to Istanbul. Everything was great.

• Gilly (7/5): Gorgeous little gem of a hotel. Staff mostly warm, friendly & helpful - Great location for first visit to Istanbul. Close to Hagia Sofia & Blue Mosque and Sultanahmet tram. Unlike so many sterile “zushed” up hotel rooms we looked at, Şebnem rooms have a lot of character, which we loved, even if the room was quite small. Fabulous roof terrace open at all times but particularly wonderful for the absolutely delicious, value for money breakfast, which varied everyday. Wonderful. Two of the three hotel staff were charming, kind and always ready to help. Unfortunately, the third staff member, who greeted us with great enthusiasm and immediately carried our bags up to our room, turned sulky and at times quite rude once he realised we weren’t interested in any of his tours. Immature and highly unprofessional, particularly as he sat on the sofa in reception and watched my (not young) husband lug our heavy suitcase down the fairly steep staircase at 5.30 am. As I said, highly unprofessional and disappointing, given the kind openheartedness and warmth of the other staff. Other than that, we were very happy at the Şebnem.

• Tatiana (10/5): I would love to visit it again! - Hotel S'ebnem is in a great location. It is situated near waterfront of Bosphorus. It is in the heart of the historical Old City of Istanbul. Blue Mosque, Aja Sophia, Topcapi Palace Museum. etc. are in 3-5 min walk from hotel. The staff is very welcoming.

• VALERIE (5/5): Ne mérite pas sa note - Son emplacement est parfait pour visiter Topkapi, Sainte Sophie et la mosquée bleue. Je ne parle que pour la chambre 203 qui nous a été attribuée, elle ne correspond pas du tout aux photos présentées, elle est totalement défraîchie, la salle de bain est à refaire, le tout ne donne pas envie. Les photos présentant l'entrée de l'hotel ne sont plus d'actualitées, ni celles de la terrasse. L'hôtel ne mérite pas à mon avis une note de 9.
• Victoria (5/5): Conociendo Estambul - Estaba bien ubicada para moverse por el centro histórico. Las sabanas y toallas estaban limpias. El baño tenia una ducha chica sin capacidad de cerrar con cortina/mampara por lo que salía agua afuera. Ademas, tenia hormigas. A pesar de esto, lo que realmente no nos gusto y afecto la estadía en Estambul fue parte del personal. Este hombre nos hizo creer que el cuidado de valijas post check out tenia costo, cuando no era asi, por lo que nos las llevamos en nuestro ultimo tiempo libre en Estambul. Ademas, su actitud hacia nosotras era bastante agobiante para sacarnos conversación, vendernos algún tour o los servicios del hotel.

• Veronika (7/5): Okey budget option for a short stay - Great location with a lot of attractions nearby. The hotel is located on a quiet street, but many places are around for eat and drink. Very comfortable if you stay in the city for a couple of nights. There was a bad smell from the shower and flush tank button in the toilet was broken. Terrace doesn’t look like of the photos.
• Desiree (5/5): Be aware that what you see online is not the reality - The location was fantastic for being in the center of everything. As a solo traveler, I felt safe in the area. The staff was great- really trying to assist wherever needed- questions, recommendations, any assistance. I feel bad saying anything negative because I think they try very hard with what they have. I will just echo what everyone else has said for areas that could use improvement. Older, rundown, and lacking modern amenities. Pushing the tours etc. My room was humid (and no, I didn’t tell them until the night before I checked out because it really wasn’t a big deal to me- I just wanted them to know for next guests). It could be an ongoing issue because the interior part of my room door where you close it is bowed and out of shape so you have to maneuver to close and lock it. There was also no top sheet on the bed- just a light blanket- again, no real issue for me, but may be for the next guest. A smell coming from toilet. Ashtrays and cigarette butts on the stoop. The hotel is hard to find via maps- I walked in circles- need better outside signage. And the photos online are not indicative to the actual hotel.

Camera molto carina e pulita, splendidi i pavimenti in legno e le pareti colorate. Moto parcheggiata proprio sotto la finestra...cosa chiedere di più! Grazie ☺️
• Valentino (10/5): Herzliche Unterkunft, mit toller Lage - Das Personal war super lieb, hilfsbereit und es war eine warme, entspannte Atmosphäre. Es gibt kostenloses, kaltes Wasser und die Dachterrasse ist wirklich toll. Die Lage ist in unmittelbarer Nähe zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten, sodass man super planen kann. In der Princess Suite wäre eine Tür zum Bad super und eventuell größere Duschgel Spender :) Was ich störend empfand, aber wofür das Hotel nichts kann, sind die aufdringlichen Verkäufer in der Hauptstraße vor dem Hotel. Ich würde die Nebenstraßen empfehlen, wenn man das nicht mag

• Sokrates (8/5): Εχει μια πιο φιλόξενη διάθεση σε σχέση με αντίστοιχου τύπου ξενοδοχεία. Τα σχόλια π διάβασα πριν το επιλέξω ήταν αυτό π - Η τοποθεσία ήταν το βασικό μου κριτήριο για την επιλογή. Το κρεβάτι και τα μαξιλάρια ήταν αρκετά καλά για τα δικά μου γούστα. Το δωμάτιο είχε παράθυρα και αεριζόταν αρκετά. Επίσης προσβάσιμη ταράτσα με θέα όλη μέρα ήταν στα θετικά. Το προσωπικό ήταν αρκετά ευγενικό στα πλαίσια των καθηκόντων τους. Οπως όλα τα τα ξενοδοχεία στην Τουρκία έχουν ένα θέμα με την ηχομόνωση (κυρίως εξωτερικά, από τον διάδρομο). Ομως είναι μικρό ξενοδοχείο οπότε δν υπήρχε μεγάλη κίνηση για να είναι ενοχλητικό. Επισης η αποχέτευση κάποιες ώρες της ημέρας δημιουργεί μια οσμή που βέβαια αν έχεις κλειστή την πόρτα της τουαλέτας αποτρέπεται. Ισως το πρωινό σαν έξτρα παροχή θα μπορούσε να ήταν λίγο διαφορετικό, όμως είναι γούστα αυτά αν θες το βλεπεις κ επιλέγεις. Θα ήθελα λίγο λιγότερο aggressive marketing στην πώληση έξτρα υπηρεσιών όμως αυτό είναι χαρακτηριστικό των Τούρκων παντού. Μικρή λεπτομέρεια ίσως κάποιοι δώσουν παραπάνω βάση από ότι εγώ, τα σεντόνια ήταν πολύ καθαρά κ μοίραζαν όμορφα, όμως ήταν αρκετά γαριασμένα (προσωπικά δν με ενόχλησε ).
• Tommaso (3/5): Come partenza della vacanza da dimenticare - L’unica cosa che lo staff era gentile e disponibile il resto veramente deludente. La pulizia da rivedere sia in bagno che camera e anche l’arredamento molto datato e in alcune parti rotto. Spazi ridotti.
• SARAH (10/5): Super emplacement, chambre agréable et excellent rapport qualité-prix : un choix parfait. - Le Şebnem Hotel est idéalement situé : à seulement 3 minutes à pied de Sainte-Sophie et 5 minutes de la ligne de métro. L’environnement est très calme, sans aucun bruit, ce qui est appréciable après une journée de visite. La chambre était confortable, propre et, bien que de petite taille, suffisamment spacieuse pour être à l’aise. Eau chaude et eau froide disponibles à volonté. Nous n’en avons pas eu besoin, mais l’hôtel propose également des visites guidées pour découvrir les principaux sites, monuments et lieux de promenade d’Istanbul. Il manquait un frigo dans la chambre, c'est dommage.
• Jean-Philippe (8/5): Hôtel vieillot mais peu cher, accueil et personnel exceptionnels : une adresse idéale pour budget serré - L’emplacement est idéal, dans une impasse calme de Sultanhamet. Le personnel de l’hôtel, Ali, sa collaboratrice, la serveuse et la femme de ménage sont d’une gentillesse extrême et les conseils prodigués sont excellents. On se sent vraiment en famille et super bien accueillis, avec des discussions et un relationnel de grande qualité. Le petit déjeuner est excellent sur la terrasse avec belle vue sur la mer. Le prix est très accessible pour le quartier surtout si comme moi on profite d’une réduction de dernière minute! Tous les commentaires négatifs sur l’hôtel lui même sont vrais, et je ne les répéterais pas tous…les photos sont mensongères et ont peut être 15 ans ou sont prises dans un autre hôtel ! les locaux sont vétustes et dégradés par endroit, les sanitaires ( notre mini chambre par ex) sont modestes…. mais vétuste ne veut pas dire sale et inconfortable !

• Valentina Bozzetti (10/5): Ottima qualità e posizione centralissima - Ottima posizione a due passi dalle moschee e dal palazzo Topkapi. Staff gentilissimo e premuroso. Camera e letto confortevoli. Bellissima terrazza dove si può anche fare colazione. Te, caffè e acqua sempre disponibili gratuitamente. Assolutamente consigliato!
• Javid (10/5): - The hotel is small but very cozy, with an excellent location. Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet are nearby, as well as a bus stop and Bosphorus tour departures. If you are looking for a place to stay in the historical area while still being able to reach other beautiful spots easily, this hotel is perfect for you. I especially want to highlight the exceptional friendliness of the staff – it is simply beyond praise. The team is very welcoming and always ready to help with anything. Yakup and Rukiye were incredibly helpful and made my trip even better. Especially Rukiye – she is like an angel of this hotel. Many thanks to everyone. I will definitely stay here again next time The only downside was that the Wi-Fi did not work on the terrace, which made it difficult to sit there in the evening and use the internet

• Karine (9/5): Petit hôtel accueillant et parfaitement bien situé - Hôtel situé à proximité de la mosquée bleue , St Sophie et Topkapi. Très facile de faire ces 3 visites. Le personnel est toujours prêt à vous aider. Le petit déjeuner se déroule sur le rooftop avec vue sur le Bosphore , il s agit d un buffet avec beaucoup de choix. Très bon rapport qualité prix. À recommander Ras

• Skylar (8/5): Loved it! - The staff of this hotel were absolutely lovely. I can't recall the first woman's name, but she deftly steered me through a throng of restaurant hawkers to a great restaurant. Jacob offered ideas about what to do, made sure I tried Turkish coffee, and was all around great to talk to. Also, the terrace is beautiful and air conditioned during breakfast. A couple of fixtures in my room did not function.
• Caro (7/5): Worth booking if you want excellent location at very good prices + very good service - Outstanding location, friendly welcome and very helpful staff! You could ask for anything. Also breakfast was very tasty with multiple options and freshly made and you could enjoy it on the hotel terrace with a city view. The shower has funny smell, but other than that we had a wonderful stay!
