• CRAIG (9/5): Great stay in Jozi - Great place in Parkhurst. Loads of cool bars and restaurants nearby. We had a Braai! Comfortable, relaxed with clean and modern facilities. Safe and secure. Staff all excellent, especially Mr T Felt very homely and social - met some cool people A little bit overpriced (but Jozi generally is for hostels.)

• Leonardo Paiva (10/5): I highly recommended it - I liked everything, from the staff to the cleanliness. The location is excellent, close to a busy street filled with restaurants. The hostel is clean, and the best part is the staff. The guy from reception desk was so kind that I felt like as I was at home. He invited all guests to joint a barbecue and was always very friendly. Everything was good.

• Gabriel (9/5): Bem localizado e equipe prestativa. Quarto bastante confotavel. - Fiquei no quarto individual. Excelente acomodação, banheiro privado, cama super confortável, quarto bem estruturado. Equipe super simpática e prestativa. Para entrar precisamos tocar o interfone e dependemos de ter alguém disponível. Há funcionários durante o dia e há um segurança a noite, porém podem estar ocupados o momento e precisarei ficar esperando na rua a noite até abrirem o portão. Seria melhor que tivéssemos nossa chave para entrar sem depender de alguém de dentro.

• Ryan James (9/5): Solid location, friendly staff, good VfM - My main concern before coming to Jozi was safety, but this hostel is situated in one of the safer neighbourhoods. Have good sense when you're out and you'll have no reason to worry. No safety concerns at the hostel itself as it is walled/gated Beds are comfy and modern, each equipped with electrical outlets + a drawer that can be locked with a padlock The place is clean, and toilets/showers were always in good condition The staff working here were super friendly and professional

Tabang the manager there even organized a brai (bbq) with wine one afternoon! The staff not knowledgeable on budget options for thrifty travellers. We had a power outage for almost two days till time I left with only vague explanations..bunk beds have no curtains

Felt a safe area with some good restaurants (an italian place pretty much next door that was open 24.7 and had a good breakfast menu), good place with a chill out living room and kitchen, and nice staff. Bedrooms were relatively spacious and comfortable, as were the toilets and showers, which there seemed a lot of them. Kitchen was spacious and there was drinking water and a fridge etc. Would recommend staying here if on a budget the main problems with this place when i stayed was that at times, the water and the WIFI seemed to be turned off, and the front gate wasnt opening very well (so had to be manually done), which was annoying. but there was always a staff member there helping. and the other issue was that there was no Air conditioning, which meant that the fan in the room was both noisy and in the way, AC would be a good investment! didnt seem to be too much to do though, felt like there were longer term guests there and wasnt super social

• Benjamin (10/5): - Always a good stay here and located right next to the Parkhurst strip with all its pubs, bars and restaurants. The property is safe and secure. The guest fridge is always packed to the brim full of food, which isn't an issue if you don't bring your own food.
• Marthina (9/5): - O quarto individual é muito bom. O hostel fica numa bairro residencial, mas há uma rua com muitos restaurantes bons! E dar pra andar por essa rua tranquilamente. O hostel fica a 40-50 min do aeroporto, e bem próximo do badalado bairro de Rosebank. Não respondem as mensagens no booking ou WhatsApp.

• Anne-Sophie (10/5): Nice and safe location, clean facilities, good kitchen, nice staff; long term customers need to be told off - Nice staff, enough showers for all customers (which is rare) so you never have to wait, clean facilities, large kitchen, safe and nice location They have long term customers who feel they are at home: they listen to music loudly in the living room using their amplifiers, in the bedroom they listen to music or watch movies on their phone with no headset, they behave as if they own the place, they smoke cigarettes in the inner courtyard while all bedroom doors are open so the room ultimately smells cigarette, etc. They need to better manage their long term customers.

Even organized a bbq one evening. Clean and has lockers for valuables. The mixed dorm is a bit tight on space but very ok.

Towels available for payment. Lovely comfy communal area. Bar closed. More sockets needed in communal area. Wi-Fi didn’t reach in our room.

• AREUM (10/5): 좋아서 연장했습니다 - 생각한 것보다 너무 좋았어요! 모든 시설이 깨끗했고 샤워실도 앞에 공간이 따로 있어서 편하게 사용했습니다. 무엇보다 숙소 전반적인 시설이 너무 좋고 부엌, 거실, 방 모든게 좋아요! 참고로 도보 5-7분 거리에 한식당 2군데 있고 젤라또 맛집 있습니다… 거기까지 가는 길은 저녁에 걸어도 엄청 안전했어요! 그 근방 동네 산책도 낮에 했었는데 동네가 너무 깔끔하고 예뻤습니다.(공항에서 숙소까지는 공항철도+택시 탔습니다)

When I arrived it looked like the lady who was in the office didn't even know about the booking, she seemed to be in a dazed state, she wasn't to friendly, never smiled once.The property is extremely small and a lot of people are living in very small dorms. The top bunk is very high, very dangerous climbing up especially down, there are no handles to hold on to, one toilet and one shower for 6 ladies to share, everyone was up and wanting to use the bathroom at the same time.Every door in that place has a problem, either it doesn't slide or close and excessive sqeeking, even the drawer we get to put our clothes in makes excessive noise when pulled out. The surrounding area is also very noisy, a lot of pubs and clubs, that was very frustrating. Fixing doors is not difficult! I stayed only 1 night, lost the money for the 2nd night, they say on booking.com they refund half in the event of cancellation but I was told they won't refund because I already booked in. To me this place was the biggest let down I ever had in my travels, they are also R100 more expensive than any other backpackers.

• ERI (10/5): 安心して滞在できました - 海外でドミトリーに泊まったのは初めてでした。 ヨハネスブルクという都市で治安の不安がありましたが、ここは比較的治安が良いエリアなので、朝はモーニングを食べに散歩することができました。共有スペースもドミトリーも綺麗で快適に過ごせました。何より、スタッフの女性の方がとても親切で、些細な質問にも優しく対応してくれました。 周りの環境の要因ですが、ミュージックバーのようなお店があり、夜遅くまでその音楽がうるさかったことです。

• Abigail (1/5): Unsafe, unsanitary, and unresponsive — a deeply distressing experience no woman should endure. - The only thing I appreciated was that it was in Parkhurst — close enough to coffee shops and public spaces where I could escape the dangerous environment of the house. Unsafe, abusive, and unclean. I was harassed by male guests attempting to enter the female dorm I was staying in — while I was the only occupant. Multiple women were being harassed during my stay, and nothing was done. The hosts ignored messages and allowed this behaviour to continue, including entering dorms uninvited. The property was filthy, dilapidated, and unsafe. Bathrooms were broken. Staff were unresponsive and, in some cases, complicit. One male host admitted the dorms weren’t safe for women — and then tried to enter my room himself. I requested a refund and was ignored. I do not recommend this place to any woman. It is not safe.

• Femke (9/5): - Fijn ontvangst. Er is 24 uur iemand beschikbaar bij de receptie. Je kunt aanbellen en er wordt open gedaan. Ik voelde me erg welkom. Veilige plek achter het hek om de auto te parkeren.
• Adams (1/5): A place I wouldn’t recommend - I liked leaving I arrived to hostility, not hospitality. A simple request for assistance with my bag was met with sarcasm, implying I was a burden. The staff member was dismissive and unpleasant. The kitchen sink was piled with dirty dishes, showing no sense of order or care. Privacy and cleanliness were also major issues. In one room, the window covering fell off completely. In the other, it was left open at night with the light on, exposing the female dorm to the male dorm opposite. When I closed it, I noticed it was filthy and still did not cover the window properly. Safety was even worse. While in bed, a male entered the female dorm late at night. I moved to another dorm with a lock, yet again, a man attempted to open the door in the early hours. Whether this is poor signage or disregard for rules, the result is the same: privacy, cleanliness, and safety are compromised. If you value respect, cleanliness, and peace, avoid this place. Power lies in protecting your space, here, you will find none.
