Guest Reviews
- Dominique (8/5): -
- Hanneke (10/5): - Amazing historical stay, located very central near public transport ( the 42 bus stop is only a 100 m away and two bus stops from Centraal Station). And several restaurant options across the road. The only water tap is located in the shower. A bit difficult to clean kitchen ware in the shower.

- William (6/5): - Great location and fun, quirky place. Construction work across canal started at 7am or earlier, which seemed inconsiderate.
- Alexis (5/5): Guy barging in my room while in shower and super cold room - Location, originality The check out was at 11am and at 11am I was in the shower and a guy came in my room saying "it's 11, I have other stuff to do, that's not nice" and kept repeating it while I was in the shower... Also when I arrived it was 14 degrees clesius in the room and the next day after the whole night putting the heater and AC at 25 degrees it was still 16 degrees...
- Jos (10/5): Better than any kind of hotel or apartment in Amsterdam! - Sooo charming cosy romantical tiny house! Everything more than perfect!
- Vanessa (7/5): -
- Craig (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay - It was the style and location
- j-v (6/5): -
- Ellen (8/5): Loved the quirkiness, history, concept and location - would stay again - Location - easy to walk to station, canals, main attractions etc. Great cafes, bakery and restaurants and pubs near by. Close to a bus stop, not too far to the Mr Visserplein tram stop
Quirkiness
Price
Space and the seating area was good
Shower was good (hot water, good pressure)
The books
Good amount of stuff in the property: mini fridge, kettle, crockery, cutlery, tea cloths and washing up stuff A bit cleaner under the bed (was some older rubbish there - we fished out what we could reach and put it in the bin)
Heating/air con wasn't easy to operate/work out....
Shower/wash room could do with the grout being breach scrubbed, or being re-grouted
Curtains could do with a wash
Top windows could do with being cleaned
Maybe a few more hooks to hang up coats, towels, washbags and so on
- Duncan (3/5): - Lack of heating. No gate!
- Hakan (8/5): - Clean room
- Amy (5/5): It was ok - Property was nice Don’t think it was value for money plus no one answers the phone call to try enter the properly , check in time 4pm and check out 11. Not long enough for the price
- Alessandro (10/5): -
- Ferron (10/5): We really enjoyed our time at the apartment. - Excellent apartment. Excellent location. We would definitely return. It was perfect at its price point. The host had provided everything we would need.
- van der Wel (8/5): Heerlijk verblijf op een top locatie in Amsterdam - Prachtige locatie, heel mooi leuk huisje De badkamer had redelijk wat schimmel
- Ettenfield (8/5): Lovely stay..Our own little hide away. The bed was super cosy and we will definitely be staying at one of the other gate - What really stole our hearts were all the quirky details, those gorgeous window shutters, the character-packed windows, and the fabulous tiles. We’ve always loved the way the space flows inside, with the cosy window seat and that fun little sleeping nook. And who could forget the novelty of brushing your teeth while having a shower? It’s got bags of personality, and that’s what made it so special to us It would have been great if the record player worked! Plenty of vinyls to play. We only had Dried milk for brews, no fridge. Would have been super to have complimentary milk on arrival. Took a while to enter the property due to the app not working.
- Daphna (9/5): Lots of character and history - The location was great
We liked to be near the canal
It had a lot of character
The bed was super comfortable The shower wasn’t good at all.
- P Andrew (7/5): Just an ok sweets location - I’ve stayed in a sweets bridge house before. It’s a cool, isolated, experience. This particular one, however, was just ok. The challenge is that it’s a premium priced stay and this particular unit does not live up to that bill. Cleaning and service were indifferent- not close to on par with the pricing level. One should not arrive to a room without soap or toilet paper for example and cleaning every three days is a bit in the long side- especially with the limited care taken.
The biggest issue with this location is the bathroom. The toilet separate from the shower and sink is fine. But the sink itself is a so poorly thought out that it is basically impossible to wash your face or brush your teeth without either hitting your head on the mirror or faucet that both stick out way too far. Resulting in it being next to impossible to not get water all over yourself if you try to rinse off even your hands. Also, be warned: the slightest movement towards hot on the faucet produces shockingly hot water. Waayyyy too hot.
The privacy and uniqueness however is wonderful.
- Lucia (8/5): Very good -
- Natashakate26 (10/5): Excellent location and a very unique little place to stay! It was great to watch the bridge in use! - Keycard and app for tap entry via phone Loud location but earplugs were thoughtfully provided!
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- White (7/5): Quirky, bijou but adequate. - More of an Air BnB rather than a hotel. Felt it was pricey for what it was. It is compact but workable except for the sink. Not ideal being collocated with the shower. You couldn’t wash you hands after using the toilet if someone was having a shower. We found we were walking over a wet shower floor to use the sink.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Compact but lovely. X
- Jay (10/5): Great location and comfy bed - Our room was quite compact, but plenty of room for us and our bags. There was loads of light, and the bed was really comfortable. We received a complimentary red wine in our room, which got our visit off to a good start. The shower was great.
The decor of the hotel is really quirky and fabulous, and there's a lovely big living room area with comfy seating where you can relax.
It's a very central location. You can walk to all the nearby restaurants and bars. There is a cheap parking lot around the corner where you can leave your car overnight.
- Ragnhild (7/5): Unique setting - Staying in a little house with a history was unique. I felt a little unsettled about being by myself alone in the house.
- Margreet (9/5): Amazing location. Perfect bed. - Surprisingly comfortable and complete for such a small space. Super comfi bed. Very quiet at night
- Samantha (10/5): bridge house - perfect nothing was great
- Egle (8/5): Very good -
- Thorbjørn (10/5): I’m in love with that small house - Absolutely wonderful small house in a charming local area on the verge of the city center. Close to the Maritime Museum and oozing history.
- Hanako (8/5): It wasn’t made a hotel so totally understandable the certain inconveniences. The place has a special touch and we’d like - Very cozy and felt right at home. Shower was a tiny place but super water pressure! Convenient location with great access to cafes and great restaurants around, therefore, noise till late was unavoidable…
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Cindie (10/5): Adorable little love shack ! - It was a perfect location and very comfy! The shower is a little different!
- Jack (10/5): Beautiful and high - Everything it was superb Nothing
- Neill (9/5): An interesting and exciting place to stay. - Entry was via the FLEXIPASS app which worked well.
Fantastic bakery 1 minute walk away - thanks for telling us about it.
The spirit level to check the slope on the floor! It was unavoidably a bit noisy being at street level.
- Emilie (8/5): Cozy and quaint house in really good location - The location was very good, central and easy to get around the city on foot! The bathroom had a funny smell
- Martin (9/5): A great property for exploring. Would recommend! - The location was walking distance from the train station and centre of the city. It was an isolated self contained building which was great for privacy. There is an outdoor seating are that overlooks the canal and the property was great for a couple exploring Amsterdam. Although the property was limited in size it compared to a hotel room but there isn’t really anything we didn’t like.
- Eleni (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful piece of history, conveniently located to explore the city.
I really enjoyed my stay, wish I had more time to spend there!
I highly recommend it!
Thank you Simona 😊
- Sam (8/5): Highly recommend - *with tips* - We loved staying here! The location was great and we were able to walk to most things. The neighborhood is perfect with some restaurants (Restaurant Black Olive was amazing), bars and spots for breakfast. The size was perfect for us as we were really only there to sleep - and the bed was so comfortable!
Shower was just okay.
It was super cool to see the bridge go up and watch the big boats go by, that alone makes the experience!
Tips for staying here: the sink is located in the shower, your feet will get wet every time you go you wash your face, brush your teeth or hands - bring flip flops. There is not an iron or steamer but if you ask ahead of time and they will bring one by.
Highly recommend staying here, loved getting to stay somewhere apart of Amsterdam’s history.
- Victoria (10/5): Unique way to stay in the city. Lovely and quiet area. Watching the board go by with cheese and wine in the afternoons w - Really quirky and cool ! The building is part of Amsterdam s heritage and is a great way to use these buildings now that they are not used. Great use of space and cool decor. N/a
- Fiona (8/5): Our imperfect perfect stay, a highlight of our holiday - The location is super, right on the edge of the canal and such a treat to watch the barges pass by. It’s got buckets of character. We were really impressed by the bed, super comfy and huge! It’s a little chilly as it’s an old building. The toilet to sink navigation isn’t ideal but part of the properties charm. Pity the record player and heater in the toilet didn’t work.
- Sally (10/5): Cute room for 2 right on the canal - Fantastic stay, cute and quiet, the perfect size for two people out & about in Amsterdam for a few days. We had everything we needed - great Wi-Fi etc
- Leslie (9/5): Superb -
- Khlifi (1/5): Bad -
- Katie (8/5): Very good - Great location, comfy bed, cute space WiFi was not dependable
- Aslanova (6/5): The house is really far away from city center. It is too small to live in. But facilities were okay and everything was c -
- James (9/5): Great place to stay, within walking distance of everything - Location Loved everything about it
- Bailey (10/5): Exceptional - Comfiness of the beds and good central location Couldn’t connect to wifi and netflix
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (10/5): really delighted with our canalside stay - thank you - absolutely lovely little cosy spot for two people who don’t want a hotel. nothing.
- Paulo (8/5): Very good -
- Noel (9/5): Superb - unique and quaint
- Nerijus (10/5): Excellent Amsterdam experience. - Location and romantic architecture. Tiny WC.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
