- Jonathon (10/5): - We came for our wedding night and got a room upgrade to a petite suite which was much appreciated. Also had complimentary champagne and drink cards on arrival. Overall the hotel is a really interesting space, not generic luxury at all. The hotel bars, cafes, and restaurants are all really lively and feel great to spend time in. They have a real neighborhood feel. This is a 5 star hotel on a 2 star street. It's a wide street that's pretty noisy and ugly. Not much they can do about it though. To be clear, the location is fantastic for accessibility to other parts of Manhattan, but the block is unpleasant.

Very quaint, but quirky if you don’t know what you’re getting into. The lobby is actually off putting, it almost looked like a low end 1 star hotel. When you get to the front desk, you start to see the charm. Good restaurants in the building. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Our room was tiny, but I think that was just what was available on short notice during the holiday season. The gym was also tiny, but it was also charming. In the converted attic with views of the neighborhood.

Loved the inner curtains which let in light, but with privacy and whimsy. Amenities top notch. Room was quiet and cozy. Decorating was outstanding. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We loved the hotel and plan to go back often. Also, the location is great. So close to subways for getting uptown on the subway. Easily walkable to many sites. And a special extra is the fascinating history of the hotel.

We stayed for 5 days in early October and it was perfection. The location is wonderful, walkable to many landmarks in NYC. The hotel itself is quirky, moody and just not anything like your average hotel. The staff was helpful, kind, engaging and on top of their game at every turn. The Chelsea Cafe and Lounge Bar inside the hotel made it convenient to grab a quick bite or to linger over a drink with friends. We did not want to leave. You won't regret booking here for your next trip to the city.

This place is steeped in history and 140 years old. The history is fascinating and the bar area reminding me of the Cantina Bar in Star Wars!!! Not because of the decor but of the fantastic variety of people and culture….amazing. Absolutely will come back….check in with the bell boy…..I think he is wonderful for any knowledge and questions
- gnwick (10/5): Fun and comfortable hotel in Chelsea - Location is convenient to art galleries in Chelsea and close enough to go to theater but an uber helps. The old authentic architecture make this an amazing find. I love the rooms with special wood floors to marble and brass bathrooms. Everything is slightly dimly lit and not much thought to places to put things in bathroom and closets. One can figure it out though. The in house restaurants are all good. The newest restaurant Teruko is extremely special.Celebrating my birthday there it may have been among the most expensive meals of my life but also one of my to eating experience ever. The service is distinctly Japanese. I felt like I was in Japan again and everything is amazing. Worth every penny.

Though no longer the haunt of down-and-out entertainers, the magic that inspired them has been reverently maintained and celebrated. I can't stay anywhere else when I visit NYC 2-3 times a year. This was our first and it most certainly won't be our last. The check-in was fast and courteous, our luggage was stored and we received a text when our room was ready. The rooms are beyond gorgeous! The added touch of a complimentary bottle of wine for a birthday celebration was impressive and appreciated. The housekeeping staff knowing when you arrive back and coming to see if you'd like some coffee or tea - and if it's evening- water and an herbal drink for sleep was so impressive. You are extremely well taken care of here. If you want to stay at the most beautiful Queen Ann hotel with the most attentive and friendly staff, this is the only place you'll ever want to visit.

- abigailo505 (10/5): The Hotel Chelsea is a first rate place to stay - for someone who really likes a nice hotel and a beautiful room! - The Hotel Chelsea was a superb place to stay in NYC. So much history and charm, a beautiful room with a super comfy bed, deep soaking tub, brass fixtures adding character throughout, stained glass windows, a balcony looking out over 23rd street, colorful furniture making the room feel like a hip apartment. We got adjoining rooms and loved the convenience of being within the same locked door hallway as the rest of our group. The hotel itself with its wide hallways, original stairway, all the woodwork in the lobby, had all the old world charm one could ask for. The location is perfect for moving around the city - 2 subway lines are within a block of the entrance - we went downtown twice and uptown twice easily reaching different areas of the city. A friend came in from Brooklyn super easy. We walked to the Hudson and a couple times after being out easily walked back to the hotel. I loved this hotel and definitely plan to stay here again!

It did not take long during that visit to make a vow to come back and we recently had the opportunity to make good on that promise. That timeless feel, eclectic history and hospitality of the hotel's associates still surrounds you and makes you feel so welcome and fortunate to be there. The dining and libations options are varied and all excellent. Location is superb - easy walks to many destinations and so convenient to several subway lines. For anyone who loves music, art, and history, walking its halls is like stepping back in time, knowing you’re treading the same floors as Janis Joplin, Edie Sedgwick, Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, and so many others. It reminded me of the feeling I had visiting the Hotel Zoo in Berlin—being able to touch the past while still enjoying the present. The décor keeps the spirit of the 1960s–70s alive with lush, comfortable furniture, while the electronics are thoughtfully set up—casting to the TV and in-room Marshall speaker was seamless, which is rare in boutique hotels. I stayed in Room 3C, which I truly believe is the best room in the entire hotel. It has a legendary balcony that runs the length of the suite, accessible from both the living room and bedroom, overlooking the iconic Chelsea Hotel sign. If you’re coming here for photos or the full experience, this is the room you’ll want. I loved opening the balcony doors, letting Janis Joplin’s music spill out while streaming Chelsea Girls on the TV. The staff are as much a part of the experience as the building itself. Everyone greeted us warmly, and several people made the stay unforgettable: Melanie in reservations made sure I got Room 3C; William, the in-house historian, gave a tour that was like stepping into a storybook (don’t miss it if you get the chance); Dustin at the lobby bar mixed some of the best cocktails I’ve had in New York; and Jake’s Japanese restaurant in the basement was outstanding (and yes, they serve real wasabi, not the fake green horseradish). I’ve stayed in five-star hotels around the world, and while the Chelsea might not compete on sheer luxury, it absolutely matches them on experience. The atmosphere is alive—the hallways are lined with artwork, the stairwells feel like a gallery, and the lobby and bar buzz with conversations between artists, travelers, and locals alike. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a destination, a living museum, and an essential stop for anyone who wants to connect with the soul of New York City.

- Michael (10/5): - The renovated areas still feel historic, the bohemian history and legendary residents haunt the halls. A couples trip to see nine inch nails and visit the city. We quickly felt atvhome by the hospitality of the lobby bar and the historic original bar tenders. The room was cozy, the bed was huge and comfortable the shower was great. Its a great hotel. Quality food and cocktails friendly staff. I will be staying again.

Great location for our one day in NYC, the Avocado Toast was the best I have ever had and the meticulous attention to detail in all areas did not go unnoticed.
