- sallyhH4400QZ (4/5): Disappointing Customer Service - I stayed here for 3 nights last month on their top floor. When I checked in, the front desk offered me points or $18 per guest per day at their cafe/restaurant as I am a Hilton Gold member. When I checked out, they charged me for the money spent at the cafe and the front desk promised to speak with their manager. They explained that I did not get the promo because I booked through a third party but I pointed out that they had more info than me on my eligibility and they should not have offered this promo if it did not apply to me. Also, no reasonable person in NYC near Bryant Park would spend this amount of money at their overpriced cafe in the morning when they could just go to Le Pain or Paris Baguette on the corner or Blue Bottle or Pret next to Bryant Park. The charge was still there a week later so I called back and they promised to discuss with a manager (still waiting for that call) but they also tried to figure out who to blame at their front desk for misinforming me. There are plenty of hotels in NYC where the staff will not try to blame you or their co-workers and ignore / refuse to refund you for a simple misunderstanding. I probably would have given it a 3.5 for location and could have returned on a future visit but it seems like this hotel would rather lose a customer over less than $100. Btw, my stay there was $1280 so I hope they feel good about their decision. FYI, there's an Embassy Suites on the same street just a few buildings down and a Marriott across the street but in any event, plenty of different hotels to pick that may treat you like an actual customer.

Both our rooms were very clean and in good order with fantastic views of the Empire State Building just 2 streets south. Every interaction with the hotel staff was fantastic - reception, bar, breakfast bar and the unsung heroes.... housekeeping. The location was great. What ever you want is close by or a uber / subway ride away. A special thank you to all the reception staff who always greeted us and asked how we were, what were our plans and what we had done when we arrived back.Thank you and hopefully see you all again Kathryn Lance and Daniel

The rooms are always clean, reasonably priced, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. I’m obsessed with the beds and pillows — I honestly get the best night’s sleep every time I stay at the Draper. You’d never expect it in the city, but it’s surprisingly quiet at night. The restaurant is also a hidden gem with great dinner options and an awesome happy hour. Plus, it’s within walking distance to Macy’s, which is such a perk. I highly recommend this hotel!!

- got2btarter (10/5): Comfortable, quaint, and in the heart of it all - An excellent place to stay if you want to be at the heart of New York and some of its best attractions. We were able to walk or take the subway to just about anything within tourist attraction. The service at the hotel was superb. We especially enjoyed the kind care we got from Rohan. When we arrived early he held our bags also we could explore the city and then called us to let us know when our room was ready. While rooms are a bit small, the beds were comfortable and amenities were fine. If you’re planning a trip and want to be central to everything and comfortable as well, this is the place for you.

The hotel is in a fantastic spot, making it super convenient to get around and enjoy the city. What really stood out, though, was the staff—they were not only genuinely friendly, but incredibly accommodating throughout our stay. A special shoutout to Vaish at the front desk, who was absolutely awesome and made us feel so welcome. We also loved the bartender, who was a cool guy and gave us a great local pizza recommendation that did not disappoint. It was those personal touches and local tips that made the experience feel extra special. Highly recommend staying here if you want a great location and a team that truly goes above and beyond.

- johngP9872LZ (8/5): Nice, clean, functional smaller hotel for business trips - Good location, nice boutique hotel, fair pricing, room was very clean, staff friendly, the windows were fairly noise blocking from the street but still bring ear plugs if you want it quieter, the room had a number of small light sources so bring sticky notes to cover, drapes were room darkening but bring clicks to close the drapes more fully to keep more light out, room size was decent for New York, with two elevators you need to plan a bit more time, didn’t see the outdoors but the breakfast/bar area was nice. Would stay there again.

It’s central enough to reach anywhere in Manhattan quickly, yet tucked away on a side street that (mostly) avoids the worst of the Midtown noise. The Rooms: In true NYC fashion, they are compact. However, they make excellent use of the space. The beds are remarkably comfortable, and the walk-in showers feel premium. If you can, snag a room with a terrace—the views of the Empire State Building are iconic.

The room was perfectly appointed with super plush pillows and cozy mattress. Our view of the Empire State Building was beautiful! The room is not small for NYC standards; for other cities sure it's on the smaller side; but they have made amazing use of the space! Clothes hangars, small desk/chair, 2 night stands, fantastic TV and immaculate in all ways!!! Charming stylish decor. The bar is a trendy design and bartender is fun and friendly! There no workout room unfortunately but otherwise this is a perfect spot for a tourist stay!

- Jazz_and_cocktails (10/5): Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't - We are ex-Manhattan Westchesterites who enjoyed a two night stay in NYC. so our perspective may be different from international tourists. The Draper is conveniently located -- an easy walk to Penn Station or Grand Central - it might even be found on a line drawn from one to the other. This location gives you access to Midtown and Chelsea - the Broadway theatre district is about a twenty minute walk. Check-in was fast and smooth. Hilton Gold members should take note - you get an $18 per person per day food/beverage credit. There's no room service, but there's a handy coffee/pastry bar in the lobby for breakfast, with a bar/lounge behind. We opted for an upgraded room in the 6 line on a high floor. We were rewarded with an open city view to the north, and there was no noise - not from the elevator -- not from the streets. The room was small but modern and clean. Sleep quality was excellent - the HVAC was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate -- with a small stall shower and Lockwood products. My only complaint - the small, thin towels could use an upgrade. If you have large bags - there's not a lot of room for them -- but the hotel did provide a luggage rack. There are loads of restaurants in the area - you'll probably want to hit one of the Korean spots nearby. As it was so cold and we had had a blowout meal the night before, we dined at Reichenbach Hall ,a brauhaus with good German beer, pretzels and wurst right across the street. The convenience cannot be beat. There's no luxury here, but everything you need ,so you can save $ for meals and shopping. Finally, the staff were pleasant and service was good. Recommended.
- upstatetraveler49 (4/5): I’d Think Twice Before Staying Here Again - I’d think twice before staying here again… Hilton Diamond member, stay at various midtown Hilton properties regularly. I’ve stayed at The Draper before and it can be a good value if you book it at the right time. THE GOOD: it’s a nice location, especially if you’re traveling in/out of Grand Central or Penn Station. Close to Broadway but without the hubbub of Times Square and the hectic vibe of the bigger Hampton Inn, DoubleTree, etc properties. Attractive contemporary midcentury modern design. The standard king bed rooms are small, but it’s a midtown Manhattan hotel, fairly average size. It’d be nice to have a proper chair (not only a desk chair) but otherwise layout and furniture are ok for a night or two. King bed is plush and comfy. Bathroom is clean and modern, though it’d benefit from a shelf or some surface other than the sink ledge to put toiletries. THE BAD: Service was poor, both at check in/out the front desk rep communication was unfriendly and inattentive. Gave off “I couldn’t care less” vibes. Got stuck on a lower floor in the back (window onto a dark courtyard and into a neighboring apartment building), which doesn’t make one feel like a valued Hilton Diamond member. Also room wasn’t cleaned properly, tea bags were wet and damaged from a previous guest making a mess and not replaced. Walls are paper thin and if you have noisy neighbors like we did on this last stay, it stinks… guests next door were shouting with a room full of friends after 11pm on a Saturday night. We let it go a bit and then called down to the desk to report it, they said they’d send someone up but never did (or at least we didn’t hear anyone call or knock to ask them to quiet down, and they kept the party going past midnight). Add to that the HVAC is loud, turns on/off periodically overnight with a bang. If your neighbor turns on the bathroom heat fan, it sounds like there’s a small prop plane in your room. Front desk failure again: when we were checking out and they asked “was everything ok with your stay?” I answered “no, actually…” and the rep didn’t flinch, didn’t respond at all, clearly wasn’t listening and didn’t care. Very disappointing.

Thumbs down! There is a simple bar above the coffee maker, which appears to have been added as an afterthought in an attempt to appease complaining customers. The rack is embarrassing, I even felt embarrassed for the hotel. A suggestion would be maybe a rack somewhere else in the room, possibly two racks (his and hers). Maybe something that looked like an effort was made. Other than the closet’s nonexistence, everything else was outstanding!
- Melissa (9/5): Quite hotel in a perfect location in mid town! - Location was perfect, quick 5 minute walk to my office. There were a LOT of nightlights in the room (mirror, alarm clock, and bathroom), I was able to disable some of them but for those that like a dark room it wasn't great.

- Natalie (8/5): Great location, cozy room for shorter stay. - The location is the best! You are near to everything. The room was really, I mean really small. With 3 suitcases, we could barely get to the bed everyday. Even when daily cleaning up the room, room was really dusty. Like I had some stuff at the table and it was covered in dust after 2 days. You have to wait for the warm water in shower, sometimes up to 7 minutes.

- GJ63 (6/5): Tiny hotel room, even by NYC standards - Stayed 2 nights over the holidays. Convenient location, new building, reasonably modern and clean. Staff was friendly and professional. My biggest issue is room size. I expect a small hotel room in NYC, but this one-bed room barely had enough space to turn around. Nowhere to store or unpack your suitcase, have to put it on the bed and close it up when not using it because there's literally no space in the room for it. Only place I didn't feel cramped was in the shower, which was standard size. Bed was comfortable, but could hear people coughing and sneezing from other rooms. Would not choose this hotel again.

- JeffBTN (2/5): Tiny hotel rooms. Terrible customer service. Lost 213,000 points - Careful booking with points here. I just lost 213,000 points by booking in advance. Upon check in Friday I saw the rate had dropped substantially. The new rate for the same room was within 50.00 total for 3 nights without using points. So i ask the front desk lady. She cant do anything. I have to call Hilton Guest Services because I used points and money. Call Guest Services. They call the hotel. Lady answers and says she's a supervisor. Issue is explained and then she says she's not a supervisor. Supervisor will be in Saturday. Nothing. I have spent hours trying to get someone at the hotel or with Guest Services to help me. Just today, Guest Services with Hilton has said they can not do a thing. Its on the hotel. I've been jerked around by both this hotel and guest services. Just beware of this hotel because they will lie to Hilton and they will lie to you. Check out my attachments. 213,000 points lost when I could have walked in off the street and paid total 50.00 more for the stay. TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. And the King City View room is TINY! I will never book this hotel again.

- 840wendyh (8/5): Good if you’re traveling light and solo!! - The standard room Size is 170 square feet! That’s tiny! Great for a solo traveler with minimal luggage. The room was clean and for 1 night it was fine. The location is great and there was not a lot of street noise.

- SlushyMan (2/5): Ridiculously Small Room - We’ve been to NYC many times and fully understand that rooms are small. But this was absurd. There was no place to put our suitcases. There were drawers to put away clothes but they pulled out from under the bed. One had a safe in it and the other had the iron and ironing board. So you literally had to live out of your suitcase. And they kept you from walking around the bed lol. There was barely space to walk to the bathroom without whacking your toes on the suitcases. The closet was 4 hangers above a coffee maker and small refrigerator stand. Yes it was clean and updated and the people were nice. But when your carry-on bags don’t fit in your room it’s a non starter.

- Oyunomin (6/5): - The location was great — right in the heart of Manhattan, which made it very convenient to get around. The room service and staff were nice and friendly. However, I was quite disappointed with my stay. The room was very small and not soundproof at all; we could clearly hear other guests entering their rooms. On top of that, the slippers came with an extra charge, the refrigerator didn’t work, and, last but not least, the duvet cover was just two separate nylon sheets, which was uncomfortable and frustrating throughout my stay.

- Wander16043136929 (10/5): Employee discount came through! - Spent 1 night at The Draper - stayed with my friend who is a Hilton employee and got a super cheap rate. Overall had a good experience! We didn't spend too much time at the hotel, of course. The location is good, walking distance to k-town and Penn Station (EWR connection). Room seemed larger than where we had stayed the previous two nights (Hyatt Place Chelsea) but there was no view (window looked out straight into other buildings) - we were given the option of a view or a quiet room and we chose quiet room. We got two free water bottles, which we did not get free water at the Hyatt despite me being a member. They seemed to be giving out water to everyone as they checked in, although I'm not 100% sure on that. The room was pretty quiet and the overall vibe of the hotel was chill. We went down to happy hour because they advertised $3 fries. We got the $3 fries and they were very good. There weren't very many people at all for a Sunday evening happy hour. The bar also has a small outdoor-ish area in back with more seating which was nice and empty when we were there. Bathroom was surprisingly large. Shower was a little odd to figure out but not impossible. I think the hot/cold colors were mixed up and I spent several moments wondering why the water was still freezing when I had turned the temperature knob all the way towards the red side. TV had YouTube so we didn't have to Chromecast anything, which was nice. No idea how much this hotel would normally be, but for the super cheap employee rate it was an awesome stay overall.

- Voyager21351334237 (8/5): Solid choice - Excellent location. The lobby is small/non-existent but the large bar + atrium/enclosed space that made up for it. Noise level is moderate. Service was great.

The room was clean and the mattress very comfortable. We always enjoy good water pressure in the shower and it didn't disappoint. I will definitely book another stay at this hotel in the future.

There are two nice lounge areas on the first floor, one of which has an atrium feel, both of which provided quiet spaces in the city. Was especially glad for the corner room! Would happily stay here again.

Good size fridge in room, big tv, plenty of plug sockets and handy space saving storage under the bed for safe and iron etc. Secure lift requiring key card to get to the correct floors, really happy.
