Guest Reviews
- Eugene (9/5): Unforgettable experience and warm memories for life - We (7 adult and 2 teenagers) spent two weeks at the villa and had an amazing time.
The villa has beautiful serene shaded garden with benches and flowers, plus barbecue grill and cozy swimming pool. Birds and cicadas fill air with chirping and your hearts with joy.
The views are unbeatable, a staple Tuscan landscape; the villa is surrounded by olive, grape and peach orchards; meadows are studded with round hay packs.
The house itself is a large, old, authentic villa decorated with original old time furniture and household items.
Theres are 6 bedrooms, 2 of them have bathroom inside; another 2 bathrooms are in the corridor on each floor. All but one bathrooms have small remodeled showers with glass door; one has a tiled shower with a curtain.
Sheets and towels are clean and crisp. Washing machine is of medium size and has separate access.
The water is very hard here so we used bottled water to drink most of time.
There is a lot of living space - large eat-in kitchen and three other living rooms all connected each other. There even is a piano in one of them.
We made a lot of radial day trips (Florence, Arezzo, San Gimignano, Pisa, Siena, Volterra, beach in Livorno) - all of them are within 1.5 hours drive.
In just 15 minutes walk through the woods one can reach a small monastery where monks sing every evening.
A lovely little town of Rignano (with a train station) is located within a 15-minute drive or, alternatively, within an hour-long pleasant walk downhill past sparse, well-maintained villas, offering magnificent views of the Tuscan landscape. Two bedrooms have air conditioners which are quite noisy. In one room, we ended up not using them and opening windows at night. It worked fine for larger bedrooms, even during the worst heat wave.In the second bedroom, air conditioner was running and ate up a lot of power -since the booking required to pay for electricity separately, the bill came up to $600 for two weeks.
Smaller bedrooms have fans and smaller windows so it was stuffy during hottest days; as soon as daily temperature went down to 33C it was fine.
The lighting is not bright throughout the house, it is pretty dark in the evening.
