- James (9/5): Lovely traditional English Pub with friendly staff and attractive rooms. - The rooms are decorated in good taste and the staff are really friendly. The rooms have spacious bathrooms that are separated with solid doors and walls from the bedroom. As there's an unfortunate fashion in more modern hotels to have glass doors on bathrooms that neither reach the floor or ceiling and leave anyone in the bedroom exposed to any noise or smells having a more traditional layout is definitely a benefit. The only negative is that you can hear the busy road outside the door. Motorbikes sit revving their engines at the traffic lights and the secondary glazing doesn't keep out the noise.

Room was on the ground floor next to courtyard area where people were drinking and talking until 3am in the morning which made it difficult to get a good nights sleep.

- Thevarajah (1/5): Racism, avoid this place - I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the service I received during check-in on 4 April 2026 at approximately 10:30 pm. The staff member on duty, Graham, an older Caucasian male employee, was discourteous and unprofessional throughout the interaction. Upon attempting to enter the hotel from the pub side, he closed the door in our faces without acknowledgment. When we approached the check-in desk, we were not greeted or acknowledged for at least five minutes while he attempted to operate the card machine, without any communication or explanation. When my partner enquired whether the card machine was required for check-in, the staff member responded by stating, “I thought you were with the other guest and that you were sulking.” This comment was inappropriate and unprofessional. At no point did he make any effort to welcome us or provide a basic standard of customer service. Furthermore, despite me being the primary guest who made the booking, the staff member directed communication almost exclusively to my partner and largely ignored me. This made the interaction feel uncomfortable and dismissive. When I requested a receipt for the pre-authorisation, he refused and responded in a hostile manner. The overall experience left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. My partner (Caucasian) also raised concerns that the behaviour displayed was racist and discriminatory in nature, and I (British Asian) share these concerns. I am deeply disappointed by this experience and would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated. I would also welcome a response outlining any actions taken as a result of this complain

It was a huge and very comfortable bed. The staff were really friendly- from the people on the front desk to those in the bar, to the room staff, everyone was helpful and interested. Wont go back - I used to love this spot but i will not be staying there again, it is in a great location but that is about all Staff are seemingly great until something goes wrong, they are inflexible and see unempowered to add any value. After being told there is zero chance of early check-in (at 2:30 pm, which is hardly early), I was pleased to at least have a glass of water in the room - well...the water was absolutely rank, the bottle was mouldy, and the water smelt like sewer water!!! When I showed the staff, the response was "sorry about that" 🤷♀️. They didn't even offer a new water. The room looked shabby compared to my last stays, such a pity because I loved staying there in the past, but now it seems tired and slightly grubby. Pity

Our room was a lot smaller than our previous visits. Room was freezing and took ages to get warmed up. Maybe in winter they could turn the heating on in room prior to stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful in all of our interactions. The sound-proofing between the rooms is not perfect and I could hear music being played from a nearby room shortly before midnight, but I understand that this is an inevitable issue in older buildings.

- harun (1/5): - Dear Sir or Madam, On December 25, I arrived at the hotel I had booked through Booking.com and was extremely disappointed by the unacceptable conditions of the accommodation. Due to these serious issues, I was forced to leave the hotel without staying in the room at all, yet I was charged for one night, which is unfair and unjustified. The problems I encountered were as follows: • The hotel had no elevator, and we had to carry our luggage up the narrow stairs by ourselves. • The room was very small and extremely cold. • The air conditioner was not working. • The bathroom radiator was not heating. • Hotel staff checked the systems several times and confirmed that both were faulty. • We asked for a room change, but were told that the hotel was fully booked and no alternative was offered. • Instead, we were given only a small electric heater, which is absolutely not an acceptable solution. Under these conditions, it was impossible to stay in the room, and therefore I had no choice but to leave the hotel. However, charging me for one night despite these circumstances constitutes defective service and is a clear violation of consumer rights. I hereby request a full refund of the one-night charge that was unfairly deducted from my payment. If this matter is not resolved, I will proceed with a formal complaint to the relevant consumer protection authorities. I look forward to your prompt response.

Via de Santander fiets was dat ongeveer 40 minuten. Een fraaie fietstocht langs de Thames. Ook met de bus (87) uitstekend te bereiken. Prettig om niet in de drukte van de stad te verblijven en er net buiten te zijn.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing which was a little disappointing was I think this was advertised as a vegan hotel somewhere online however this wasn't the case when we arrived. There are still food options for any vegans staying and the toiletries in the room etc were all still ok, but FYI in case anyone is booking on this basis.

It’s very comfortable. The bed is so nice! The pillows and duvet are great quality. The room was incredibly clean. And there are nice touches everywhere from the honesty bar to the glasses and coffee machine. I like the little treat left on the bed too. The toiletries are good quality, smell lovely and there is everything, body wash, hand wash, shampoo, conditioner. There is everything you need in the rooms here. And the decor is very nice. Very homely stylish. Nothing.

The mattress was a little worn. Breakfast was a let down, the sausage tasted like it had been cooked before and reheated
