Viviane (2/5): Passez votre chemin - A ABSOLUMENT ÉVITER. Ce n'est pas un hotel. C'est plus un Airbnb de niveau 0. Voire un gîte pour backpackers. Pas de personnel sur place. Communication inexistante. Un lounge qui est un trou noir à la propreté douteuse. Le seul endroit où l'on dit changer la housse de couette, mais où en fait on l'a retourne à l'envers. Malheureusement pour la personne de l'entretien, nous avions fait une tâche sur le dessus qui le lendemain se retrouvait dessous. Pour finir, juste en face, un wine bar extrêmement bruyant ouvert jusqu'au bout de la nuit... Impossible de dormir. Passez votre chemin, c'est un des pire endroits où rester.
Eva (8/5): - Brilliant location, close to metro station and historical buildings. Easy access to the shopping streets too. Slight issues with noise during my stay (if your window looks over the small courtyard there is a dozen or so aircon units and the sound is amplified) plus the internet signal was week. However for a short stay it is good value for the price.

stregine (8/5): Nice hotel - Monk Monastiraki Hotel Suites is in a nice location but in a quiet street. Close to shops & restaurants. Top tourist attractions are within a walking distance. Our room was big, comfy bed, clean bathroom. Only thing was water from the shower splashing outside the shower door. Ana was very nice & helpful. There’s a rooftop bar which can be noisy, if you’re a light sleeper. There’s also a restaurant on the ground floor.

The only complaints we really had about this hotel is that they put stained sheets on our bed. We were confused on why they would think that was ok. Also, checking in is a pain in the butt because there is no front desk. You are kind of left waiting around trying to figure out what to do until someone shows up at the door.

Shirlene (10/5): - This is an amazing hotel. The outside looks like boutique and antique looking. When you enter the room may surprise you. It’s a retro design, modern and very spacious. This was the best hotel in Athens. Recommend highly and location is in the heart of the city.

Caspar (10/5): - Sehr zentrale Unterkunft in Athen, charmant, große Zimmer, unten im Haus gibt es eine Wein-Bar, die zum Haus gehört und in der man gut frühstücken kann. Viele Restaurants, Geschäfte und Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe, alles zu Fuß zu erreichen. Auch sehr gut gelegen zur U-Bahn Richtung Flughafen und Richtung Piräus.

I told the front desk they got rid of them quickly…. And just became a nuisance because I couldn’t put anything on the floor. I didn’t wanna take those little things home with me.
Aleksandra (10/5): Great location - The rooms looked like in the photo. Eventhough there was no reception, Anna via WhatsApp was very helpful. Easy check in and out. The shower was nice however the room 6, didn’t have glass door wide enough all the floor would get flooded. The bathroom also had a bit of sewer smell. The room was big and aircon working. I read privious reviews of the bar noise till 2am, I brought earplugs and the noise didn’t bother me. The location is amazing walkable to all attar rooms lots of restaurants and shops.
Samuel (4/5): - The hotel was not as it appeared online. Room like a dorm room, Elevator to our tiny room was hot and small, barely 2 people could fit into it. There was no door on the elevator, only the outer door. The worker did not show how to get out, we were stuck until someone came to use it and opened it. We were not told when rooftop bar opened so we went and it was padlocked. When we were told hours and went later it was nice, best part of hotel. Very poor communication from staff, we always had to chase them down to ask. Door to hotel big and hard to open, hotel entry dirty and unkept, dated. We will not return.

We checked out at 11:00 and our flight was at 23:00. Anna offered us another room for late check out but we didn't use it as we had other plans! Thanks Anna!

Selena (10/5): - We loved how close we were to Monastiraki Square. So many food options and shopping nearby. We loved we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. We did eat breakfast at the cafe downstairs all 3 days and the food was great. The host, Anna, was great and super nice. I wasnt feeling well our 2nd day and she offered the kitchen to make a chicken soup if I wanted. The bar on the roof was very lively and we did hear the sounds of chairs scraping from our room but it didn't bother us.

johnbT1008WC (2/5): Don’t even think about this place. - Paid for this place and couldn’t even stay there. Made the reservation through hotels.com and paid. Upon making the reservation it says there’s no desk at the place and they would contact us 24 hours prior to arrange check in. When they didn’t contact us the day before I reached out. No answer. When we arrived in Athens from JFK still no contact. So I emailed again. The first contact was at 1:41 the day of check in saying our room was ready. We were wandering around Athens exhausted not knowing if we were ever going to be contacted so I got another place to stay. Needless to say they just kept our money and couldn’t figure out why we had an issue. Stay away.

John (2/5): Never had an experience like it. - When I made the reservation, the check in procedure was specified on hotels.com. No desk at this place. They would reach out 24 hours prior with instructions on how to check in. 24 hours prior I got no instructions so I emailed. No response. Upon arrival from New York still no email so I reached out again. No answer. They didn’t reach out until 1:41 in the afternoon saying the room was ready and how to access it. by then I had lost any faith that they were going to reach out at all and had gotten another hotel. When I informed them how upset we were and that we had already checked into another hotel, no apology for never answering or reaching out the way they were supposed to. Their response was more like ‘why would you do such a thing?’ Maybe it was because we were exhausted from an overnight flight wandering around Athens wondering if we had a place to stay and whether they might reach out to us. Needless to say they simply kept all our money with nothing close to an attempt to care. We travel a lot and never experienced anything like this. We are staying at four other hotels during this trip and all of them have already reached out to make sure everything is seamless.
Diane (4/5): Would not stay there again - The room had only a small window to the outside with a large AC engine a few meters away. So the room was dark and noisy. Also, one could hear the noisy terrace where people stayed until 3 AM and the sound insulation was bad and one could hear everything when people were typing the code to enter the corridor or their room. We had to ask three times before we were provided with a blanket as there was none in the room. So great location but not conducive to a relaxing stay

Daniel (6/5): - The Monk Suites are smack bang in the popular centre of Athens as such the amount paid for the rooms is reflected in the facilities. I was told that the arrangements for check would be sent to me on the morning of check in. I received a message asking when I was due to arrive but nothing else. As this facility has no reception this seemed a problem. Having asked the bar staff one of them contacted the manager and check in instructions were received quickly. This is good but after a hot and stressful day of travelling the last thing needed. In a room almost entirely of concrete sounds travel and unfortunately some other guests didn't realise that and were making noise through the night leading to a disturbance during sleep. Finally, on the second and third nights there was no hot water for a refreshing shower, simply a must in a hot climate such as Athens.
Tami (10/5): - The room was spacious and modern. Only a couple of blocks from the Metro and close to everything. Costas checked me in and remembered my name throughout the visit. The rooftop bar is a bonus! Highly recommended!

Lack of a reception made checking in slightly confusing but lovely staff in the bar downstairs were extremely helpful. Room comfortable and clean and most importantly the air-conditioning worked! Rooftop garden is well worth a visit and we would certaimly stay here again
Hau Yau (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It is clean and spacious enough. The location is right in the city centre, so it’s in walkable distance to all major streets and sites.
Nicole (10/5): - This place was incredible. It’s not a hotel, but you check in and out with the restaurant/bar downstairs. There’s an elevator and the suites are very safe. The room itself is gorgeous. Huge, great design, amazing bathroom. Honestly, was so impressed with the quality of this place. Location is unbeatable.
Carla (8/5): - This property is all about location. The room itself is very basic, but you can’t beat being in such close proximity to the Acropolis and the museum (8 mins and 15 mins each). We arrived late around 10pm and the nice lady from the restaurant was able to check us in. Had we arrived later, there was a code to enter the main entrance; however, the instructions were not clear on how we would get our keys. There is a rooftop bar that, unfortunately, is very loud. If you’re looking for a quiet place to sleep after 9 pm, this might not be the place for you. We were staying on the third floor, and from 9-1am ish we heard the music and the re-arrangement of the chairs. We didn’t mind it at first, but it can get annoying. Lastly, the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. We got a free glass of wine from the restaurant and returned later for more drinks before heading to the airport. We might consider staying here again, mostly for the convenient location.
Junwen (10/5): - Throughly enjoyed my stay. I understand there is no reception for check in and the host contacted me to check my time of arrival and provide all the info needed. Flight landed 1 hour early but I was provided early check in at 10am. The location is great. Walking distance to Acropolis. Plenty of restaurants and nice cafes around. Room is spacious and has everything you need.
Nahed (4/5): - What they call Deluxe Room is the worst, it has a window in the bathroom, rear facing, no staff, the queen bed was two twins stacked with a gap in the middle, not comfortable at all, and as usual, when you ask to change the room the same answer everywhere that they are all booked
Jean (6/5): Not great - Well located but noisy with bar on Level 4 - especially so if you get allocated a room on Level 3. Also, as the wine bar downstairs serves as an alternate check in, you won’t get great service - they act like it’s a chore to answer your questions or help you with directions/taxi/etc. Pictures look better than actual state of room. Missing some items that are suppose to come with room.
932simones (2/5): Terrible - It is hard to find, since it´s a really narrow street and the taxi driver´s GPS couldn´t find it. So we had to get out of the taxi 2 blocks earlier and go walking. Once we got there we had the terrible surprise that our reservation (by Booking) was not valid, because the owner had change! We had none notification of the fact and we had to look for other accommodation for the same night. For our luck we found an other hotel (charging the same price that Monk Suites asked - 95 euros per night) but way better in location (in front of the subway Metaxourgio), attendance and service. Bottom of line, even if you think that the reservation problem was not the their fault, rethink the location of the hotel and prices.
rutaleo (2/5): Scam - The same situation as previos. Paid money for 3 nights in September, 2018, but rezervation was cancelled and money not refunded. No answer to this situation from Booking.com, neither from Monk suites.
vtraveller13 (2/5): Scam - Similar experience, to the previous one.I made the booking in December to stay in this place for one night in July. They charged me for the cost of the room a few days later back in December 2017. Now they have cancelled my booking and I haven't been refunded.
bynbk (2/5): This place is a scam - In Dec 2017, I made a reservation at this place thru booking.com and fully paid for a room for July of 2018. I received an email today stating that my reservation is cancelled since they no longer work with booking.com. I can’t get my money as the hotel would not respond to my emails and booking.com stated that payment disputes are between customers and hotel. I should have known it was a scam when I saw the hotel has no website in 2018!
giedriusgriska (10/5): Athens Center - First of all it's a great located hotel with all You need to see or to do in Athens center. We had surprisingly silent room, I guess due to it's all windows facing only a voids (none to a busy street). Nice, modern and simple interior.
scotsdrifter (8/5): great apartment - These are great modern apartments right in the middle of athens tourist centre. easy to find and eady to make your way to all the great sights and touristy bits. Towels changed on a daily basis bed changed halfway through the week. Fridge and hairdryer in room, only real down point is it could have had a wee kettle.
iGeoMaki (2/5): STAY AWAY - If I could rate this experience i would need a minus sign. We booked for monk suites way in advance and when we arrived the room was nothing like the photos and the excuses they gave us were plain stupid.
AnaScarlet (10/5): Short stay, exactly what we needed - I was quite skeptical given the mixed reviews and that it was only 20 pounds/ night. However the lady at the reception desk was extremely helpful and nice to us and the hotel didn't disappoint. Nearby Moastiraki tube stop, maybe 5-7 minute walk. Nice on the outside, somber and little light as you enter the main door. There is nothing at ground level, but the lift and stairs that bring you to the 1st floor where they have an improvised reception area. It seemed shady, but once we got to the room we realised it was a misconception. The door opens with a pin code, the room was spacious and clean and the bathroom was absolutely amazing. The blinds were shut and we left them that way since the window was facing a close by wall. Clean sheets and towels, good room temperature - but you can set it to your liking. TV - Greek and good internet connection. There was water an wine at no extra cost. The Acropolis and the Temple of Hephaestusis are right next by. Loads of restaurants around. Took around 50 minutes to get there from the airport, direct line M3. The tube comes every half hour.
Resfeber17 (2/5): DONT GO HERE!!! - Terrible terrible terrible. I have never been treated so badly by a hotel chain. I got a call, 3 weeks prior to my stay ( I booked this hotel 8 months in advance) and they said they have to cancel my booking because of no running water. No email. No nothing just a phone from Russia with a woman who wasn’t able to put me through to her manager because she was so incompetent, and then hung up on me! Now I’m looking last minute and paying a fortune for a hotel because of this disorganised and terrible customer service and hotel chain. Never using this chain, never recommending it and told all my friends and members on social media to avoid this chain. Just disgusting the way they treated me. I really hope this company goes under.
rachel1372 (8/5): All reviews so true.... nice room / location - depends what you want. - The location is great, close to Monastiraiki, Syntagma, Plaka, the metro etc etc. Loads of bars and restaurants to while away the afternoons.... This is a self sufficient hotel, meaning outside of reception hours, you'll need a pin to unlock the main door and then the same for your room. Call ahead and organise if you think you'll be arriving late. The hotel rang me and advised me of the details for arrival. The building is old, recently renovated. For the price we paid, the rooms were unexpectedly good - modern, clean... perfect for a place to rest your head. Unfortunately the tall ceilings, large doors and windows allow a lot (and I mean A LOT) of noise into the room. The hallways echo everything and you can hear every door opening and closing. Loud coughing and babies crying could be heard from nearby rooms, so the general level of noise could be a problem for people. This could probably be averted by the hotel with the use of some rugs to absorb some of the noises, particularly in the hallways. For us, it was a great place - we know Athens extremely well and have stayed in so many hotels close-by (mostly all the 5* ones) but this time we knew we really only needed a place to sleep and weren't sure if we needed the second night so wanted a place whereby we wouldn't lose a lot of money with an early departure. If you are on a budget, and don't get too fussed with noise, I can't recommend this place enough. It may be the perfect option.
vaiav (8/5): Excellent location, lovely design, noisy building - Monk suites is not a traditional hotel but rather furnished rooms with all amenities for your stay. It's located in a small street just off Monastiraki metro station in the heart of Athens, which makes it an excellent base to explore the city. The rooms were elegantly decorated and clean. Plus, we got it at an unbeatable price. Only issue was that our room had no natural light four most of the day (it was overlooking an inner yard) and that you get the noise, sometimes overwhelming, of the air condition systems of all rooms around. In general it's a place I'd recommend -I've never been in a hotel like this while paying such a low price.
113christinak (2/5): Terrible experience - NO SERVICE - NO RECEPTION - NO TELEPHONE NUMBERS AVAILABLE, arrived in Athens at 7am and I found out that the hotel was CLOSED, no reception to leave my luggage, no telephone numbers to call and get information, had to wait for 30 minutes out in the cold and the rain for someone to tell me that I had to walk 20 minutes to another hotel of the same company to leave my luggage there until 2pm, when the check in in the other hotel was available, arrived at the other hotel on foot and so extremely tired to find out that it was CLOSED too! Had to wait another 30 minutes outside in the cold for a young lady in high heels to come and RUDELY tell me that my luggage will stay inside the breakfast room of that hotel UNSAFE next to the entrance door where anyone could enter, grab it and go. No amenities as written on the website. BROKEN shower pump, shower WAS NOT WORKING. VERY NOISY, could hear people from the rooms around talking and a deep constant noise coming from underneath the floor, which was probably the kitchen fridges from the restaurant underneath the hotel, the NOISE on the corridor woke me up every day from people walking around and the cleaning lady slamming the doors behind her. Air conditioning was NOT WORKING sufficiently to warm a room with a very tall ceiling. Roof garden was CLOSED. Shutters do not CLOSE enough to darken the room, because they are VERY OLD and not renovated, which means that you are forced to wake up at 7am by the light coming in the room (look at the pictures I've uploaded).
562catn (2/5): No sleep - This was a lovely little spot. Clean room and shower facilities and we were happy here until night time... the music in the bar was incredibly loud we could hear it two floors up. The bar may as well have been next door. I do not like to give a place a bad review but if you want a quiet night's sleep and are not into partying this is not the place for you. I am actually writing this review while trying to sleep! If the hotel were to sort out the noise problem it would be a great location. Central to everything. I would ask before booking if you are like me and need a good sleep!
