Pierina (8/5): Volvería - Muy bien ubicado! Queda realmente muy cerca de todo, podes hacer casi todo caminando. Si es verdad que las habitaciones son un poco chicas, pero privadas!! Así que está buenísimo para descansar después de un largo día. La recepcionista de la noche y la mañana muy muy amable!!! La limpieza la verdad es bastante escasa. Pasan el trapo y limpian muy por arriba. De todos modos no vi bichos como pusieron otros huéspedes y los baños siempre estuvieron bien. Por otro lado, me faltaron en varias oportunidades cosas rotuladas de la heladera.

Kolařík (8/5): - We booked the bigger room which was really spacious with a desk to works and a nice view! The hotel was not crowded at the time of our stay, so we had the shared bathroom and kitchen mainly for ourselves. The kitchen was pretty well equipped for cooking. Amazing location! Even though we stayed for nearly 3 weeks, regular towels and linens change was for a fee of 5-10 USD. So, even though we requested our room to be cleaned, I felt like the only thing the lady did was to make up our bed. Carpet was not vacuumed etc. There was no rug in the bathroom, which bothered me, cause every time I got out the shower, the whole floor was wet and there was not place to dry my feet :D there could be some glasses and mugs in the kitchen. Even though there were some details that bothered me a bit, the overall stay was pleasant and definitely worth the value! We would come back if we need to stay close to everything with the option to cook. Staff was helpful and friendly! Thanks.

Special thanks to host Mo who was of great help during the check in, and then later, when he upgraded my suites free of charge to a more spacious room. It was a quick, easy, informal stay that was worth its money for its location in NY. The bathrooms were dirty, someone peed on the floor, the beds were very hard with thin sheets and flat pillows.

Lillian (1/5): $600 dirty broken shoe box. - Amazing location. Kind staff. Kind travelers and community. Our bed was very broken. It was 10 degrees outside and at night they only turn the heat on from 2am-5am, I was freezing and I slept in my parka. There was no space to keep our luggage in our room, but they allowed us to store luggage in the common areas. Walls are paper thin - you’ll need earplugs because you can hear everything happening on the street as if you were sleeping on the street. Room was so small that my body consistently hit the wall mirror any time I left the room to use the restroom etc (I’m not a large person) - I felt bad each time my body banged into the mirror because the guest next to me could definitely hear it bang against their wall. This place is only ideal if you are a young solo traveler with one backpack and nothing more. We were rarely in the room because the location was so great, but after a long day of galavanting around NY, coming back to microscopic, dirty, cold room was not it.

The room was small, walls were filthy, the heater was right behind our heads when we slept because the bed was crammed up against the wall. It should have only been a room to fit one single bed not a double bed for two people.

The room was dirty, the AC was still in the windows and we were freezing from the cold air flooding in. We were woken up in the middle of the night to ask if we were smoking by an employee. Esposito (10/5): - The rooms were excellent for the money. Enough space for you suitcase and bags. Hanging room for shirts and jackets. Everything was super clean and the decor was charming and vintage y! Small cabinet for toiletries and hanging space for wet towels and clothes. Bed was super comfy and long enough for a 6.1” guy and each floor was super quiet and private with 5 rooms per bathroom. I basically never saw anyone else. It felt like my own place.. outstanding. And will definitely stay again, if I come back to NY. I wish I didn’t move to another hostel in SOHO which was absolutely trash in comparison.

Sally (6/5): Fine, close to subway - Location is central but a few blocks walk to the nearest subway. Madison Square Garden is a shady area in general. There was a man passed out in front of the hostel on the sidewalk when I arrived, which was unpleasant. Bathroom was clean. Price is steep for a hostel. Coffee is not provided, even though there is a coffee machine in the photos of the booking. I wasn’t allowed earlier check in, even though it was approved before I arrived.

Não tive nenhum problema sobre compartilhar os banheiros, a cada 2 quartos tem um banheiro. Era como se estivesse hospedada na casa de alguém e usasse o banheiro social. Valeu demais a hospedagem. Permitiram deixar as malas antes e depois do horário de check in e também usar os banheiros sem custo adicional. Os funcionais muito educados e simpáticos. Sem dúvidas me hospedaria novamente.
Mark (6/5): - I don't generally stay in hostels and didn't expect that much, and so wasn't that disappointed. The bathrooms were fine, although having soap consistently would be nice. The bedroom was very small and kind of worn, which gets to the main issue - $280/night for this?? That's highway robbery, no matter what the market will bare. I made the reservation very late, because of a flight cancellation, and I don't know if they engage in some sort of dynamic pricing scheme, but I had just stayed in Williamsburg in a Pod hotel which was MUCH nicer for the same price.

Andrea (10/5): Clean, cozy and great location - I stayed here for four nights on a solo trip. I have stayed in hostels before, so I knew what to expect in the way of smaller, shared accommodations. Arrived late in the evening and the desk attendant was friendly and knowledgeable. I was helped upstairs with my bag(s) and shown around on the floor where I would be staying. My room was clean and had its own window unit AC that kept the room cool. Room was about the size you would expect for a hostel but did have a full-length mirror and an armoire in which to hang clothes, which was helpful. Each floor has two restrooms, both good sized with full showers; very clean and well maintained. I never had to wait to use the restroom and was never interrupted by other guests rushing me when I was showering, etc., but obviously that may not be the case during peak travel times of the year. I chose this hostel due to close proximity to Madison Square Garden, just a short walk away. Plenty of nearby restaurants and bars, walkable to Penn Station and subway. Check out was just as easy as check in, with same attendant. Everything here met or exceeded my expectations. Please make sure you research what exactly hostel accommodations are like because they truly are meant for solo travelers who don’t plan to spend much time in rooms other than sleeping and showering, and the room sizes reflect this. My only complaint was lag in WiFi when on Zoom meetings for work, but connection was fine for phone calls and general internet use.

It's not pristine clean but not bad like you will see some dust and dirt at the corners of the room and it looked like a small stain on my sheets but no big deal to me.

Leah (10/5): - I was in NY for 2 nights on my own and the Lamartine Chelsea was perfect. I was there for a concert at MSG and it was only an 8 minute walk. Times Square was also in walking distance. I felt safe and my room and all the facilities were clean.

Josh (2/5): Abysmal and probably illegal - The facilities were very clean. Every floor every room certainly received daily deep cleaning Many things: 1. This is unequivocally a youth hostel NOT a hotel. I don't feel that is disclosed transparently on booking.com 2. Part of the confusion centers around me being a NY state resident, there is a law precluding NY residents from staying in hostels in NYC. They apparently don't care... The first time I heard that word hostel was when I checked in. 3. There is no front desk. There is a chair that a dude sometimes sits on with his laptop. Most of the time there's no one around. Certainly no one to talk to re: any issues or concerns. 4. Rooms are the size of walk in closets. Like that one Harry potter is kept in at his aunt's house. Beds are extremely high off the ground and terribly uncomfortable. The room A/C units are situated at the top part of the window and throw air directly on you as you're sleeping. With just very thin/light cotton quilt provided, your options are: either sweat bullets or freeze your stuff off. 5. Emergency signage such as fire info about sprinklers is posted on room doors. Just in case you didn't already feel like you were staying in a closet... 6. Place is unreasonably Ridgid regarding cancellations, even within a couple mins of booking. I feel this stems from the lack of a front desk. This is basically a cross between one of those internationally owned Airbnb's where they're owned abroad and all you get is a code and a youth hostel. A hostel without the typical cool traveler culture.

Alan (10/5): Very good - First stay in a hostel and everything was better than expected. The room and facilities were all clean and comfortable. The 5 stars do come with one note. If your room is on the first floor expect to hear everything the overnight desk attendant does. Everything from talking on the phone, doing what sounded like sorting screws or games on their unmuted phone, it will be heard.

Mary (10/5): A great alternative for an over priced Midtown hotel - This isn’t a Luxury hotel but it worked for me.location was great. Price worked too. I am a fan. I often have to go to Javits North for trade shows yams I am tired of paying so much for a room in midtown. Seriously, it’s just too much for someone who has to do booth duty. Again, it’s not a luxury resort. It was clean. And it was good not to have to pay $350 a night. I also liked the fact I could walk to everywhere.
Verified traveler (2/5): Small, noisy and dirty rooms - I don't recommend this place anybody. The rooms are very small. The bed was very bad, I stayed 3 nights and had huge pain on my back. The room was so dirty, lot of dust, marks on the wall, horrible. You can hear everything from the hallway and neighbors and lot of noise from outside. I found tiny bugs from my bed. There are 2 bathrooms per floor and there is nothing to clean the bathroom so after taking shower, bathrooms are dirty. Area has lot of homeless, unsafe.
Michael (9/5): Delightful stay in a charming old residence. - This charming old residence had plenty of electrical outlets and an A/C in the room. The wifi was decent. The pillows, mattress, and sheets were clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen was functional. The shower water was hot and the front door access was secure. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There is no TV, so bring your laptop. There are shared bathrooms, so plan extra time.

The location couldn’t be better. I was there for 10 days and even though the room was clean when we get there, I think the rooms could be cleaned during the stay, for they get really dusty cause the windows are not properly sealed and dust takes over the room. Also, we only got a sheet and a very thin blanket. It would have been nice to have a proper comfortable duvet

Building was historic and charming. Price can't be beat! One of the residents on my floor took a lot of showers and dripped water all over the bathroom. Seems easy enough to me to drive yourself off by the shower stall.

Staff, non-responsive. Ownership, dishonest and disreputable-- they simply do not run a real business. Avoid this place at all costs. There are no redeeming qualities to this hostel.
Eldmngo (6/5): Practical option for a budget stay - Good location, it's walkable distance to Chelsea Market and Times Square area. Train stations are also accessible. I liked that it's not too far from NJ transit so it's easy to travel back to airports. The pantry availability was also helpful. Awful when you have luggage and you're staying at higher floors since stairs were narrow and steep. Bathroom can be better, it's actually neat but there's a guest who left his underpants under the sink and it was there for a couple days.

I wish we had been provided with a bath mat and hand towels in the bathroom.
