Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (10/5): Perfect little house boat for two and ideal location. - Lovely little houseboat. Small but it is cleverly designed with good storage and sliding door to the bathroom so it maximises the space. Good location -20 mins walk to the centre but also close to lots of restaurants and a Lidl supermarket. Deck to sit out on by the river was perfect. Couldn’t wash cups up properly as just bathroom sink.
- John (10/5): 2nd time here amazing location great hosts absolutely stunning - Great location
- Griffin (9/5): Lovely experience - I really the house boat such a different experience
Beautiful views
Everyone was friendly and waved to us when we sat outside
Very quiet
The boat was Modern
And the bed was very comfortable
Lots of channels on the TV
Felt very safe and secure
Location trams are only a 4 minute walk away My mum and a few mobility issues so the steps leading to the house boat was a little hard for her but she managed
Just short of an iron and ironing board
I found the house boat was big enough just the kettle and fridge area is a bit compact
But manageable

Bierdosen lagen herum.
Sehr unpersönlich. Lief alles digital. Mussten Kaution hinterlegen, was nicht ersichtlich war.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Florence (8/5): - Emplacement super Panne d' eau chaude et ensuite d électricité
- Costello (10/5): we enjoyed everything after we cleaned the room ourselves - location perfect room was cleaned by amatures...not clean and the welcome note out of date
- Tracey (10/5): Book it! So beautiful and central. - Location was exceptional and the view is incredible! Clean, comfortable and welcoming. We would definitely stay again. The pillows were not very dense, very little head support.
- Przemyslaw (10/5): -
- hakanmetin (7/5): - good location, simple but enough room. The host was almost around the boat on Sunday, They carried out repair, renovation, and cleaning work around the boat all day without considering that we were on board. It was a very inappropriate and inconsiderate behavior.
- Metwally (10/5): -
- Ashleyann (10/5): Had a lovely stay Tuesday to Friday. We will definetly be back. - Very comfy lovely view N/a
- Adam (8/5): -
- Kai (6/5): Great location but bad amenities. Would choose a hotel over this. - Location was great For the price the amenities were inadequate and everything was an additional cost (i.e. firewood for the included sauna/hot tub, late checkout was $75, etc). The hot water kettle and Nespresso haven't been cleaned in forever as there was sludge on the bottom of both machines where the water goes, there were dishes but no dish soap or sponge, the pillows were very uncomfortable. There was "hot tub" in the description but it was not functional.
- ekin duysen (8/5): -
- Raffy (8/5): - I liked everything except for the malfunction with the TV and the bed was okay The bed was a bit small
- Kıvılcım (9/5): It was enough for 2 days. - It was so cool to sleep and wake up to the view. Everything was new and clean. Bathroom lighting was so dim, it was impossible to do make up or shave. The bed was good but the mattress was always slipping through the covers. It was two separate mattresses you should know that.
- Anik (8/5): -
- Marleen (7/5): -
- Mikaela (10/5): -
- Anneli (9/5): - Att det låg vid vattnet.
- Charlene (10/5): Cool, cute, cozy, convenient! - Just a very cool place to stay ... to be on the water and close to everything by foot or using transit. The room is small/cozy so you better like the person you stay with, but we had no complaints. We had everything we needed. Comfortable bed, modern & clean bathroom, coffee, easy access with app to lock/unlock door. Pretty sweet all around. Can't think of a thing.
- Dennis Paul (9/5): Great - Location was great, it was a very nice room to relax with a deck to sit on and watch boats pass by. No air conditioning during the day.
- Hajj (10/5): -
- SabiSch69 (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Absolutely loved it great location, good transport links ,quieter than expected ,im a big bloke and there was plenty of - Great location clean good extras Could do with a thin bamboo style dividing screen for the dock between room a and b
- Catherine (10/5): A spacious, comfortable houseboat with the perfect waterside deck – the highlight of our Amsterdam s - We absolutely loved our stay at Houseboat Little Amstel! The space was bigger than we expected, super comfortable, and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The location couldn’t have been better, and we especially enjoyed relaxing on the deck by the water – such a unique and peaceful spot. Staying here was truly one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. Highly recommend! Nothing loved it all
- Sara (7/5): Enjoyed evening sitting outside - Maybe Im not a reader but was not prelared for the learning curve of parming costs in Amsterdam. I should have researched more. There is no drop off area for luggage, etc. The business tenant leaves stuff in the view of A&B. Fridge was not working well. Frozen.
- Sarah (9/5): Great place to stay Lovely area. Excellent communication - Loved being able to sit by the water
- maria (10/5): Great stay thank you - Great stay loved looking over the Amster river Nothing
- Central beliggenhed. Hyggeligt. Dejligt at kunne leje cykler.
- Walter (10/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): Small, but comfortable stay on a beautifully maintained house boat in a great location.perfect for active travelers who - We loved the convenience of the location and the outside seating area Wish it had come with shampoo and conditioner and a microwave would have been nice
- Timo (10/5): Amazing! - Magic place to stay while in Amsterdam! We highly recommend it and have already told or friends and family about this hotel!
- Karl (10/5): Magical place to stay in amsterdam - Everything about the place was amazing the place is magical sat out on the jetty just watching the world go bye all the boats passing bye waving the Dutch are very friendly people and the location was great within walking distance to everything you could possibly need also the host was very welcoming and helpful all in all we had the best time Everything was great, but if I did have to be picky about something, it would be the two single beds it would be much better for a couple to have a double bed one of us kept falling down the gap in the middle
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (6/5): - Property was as stated.
- Audrone (8/5): Nice experience - It was an experience for sure to stay there. If you have a bit of mobility issue you may struggle to get over steps on entry. Eco friendly place, very clean and very comfy bed. Because we both on bigger size it was a bit struggle to pass each other, it is small. Would be nice to have brighter light in bathroom, can't see if you doing makeup. To get in was a challenge, have to ask young people for help how to use Nuki app to lock and unlock the doors. I would never got in and out on my own. Walk to centre on if you fit, otherwise bus, tram or metro is easy enough. Only wish for good weather, we have rain most of the time.
- Sarah (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, calm. Good reactivity of the staff after our requests. The room wasn’t cleaned when we arrive (after the check-in time) and the sheets weren’t very cleaned afterwards.
- Susan (8/5): - Was a fun stay for two nights. Wouldn’t want to stay longer as room was very small. Also have to bring luggage down a ramp and up and over a set of three or four stairs to get to the houseboat. Pack light!
- Selina (9/5): If you’re looking for a special location in a nice neighbourhood, this is the place to go. - It’s located in de pijp where you can find great cafes, restaurants, bar and shops. Also we felt very safe. Public transport is in walking distance. The view of the river was very special. The bathroom especially the sink is very small.
- Kristjan (9/5): Superb -
- Matthieu (10/5): The Right Way To Discover Amsterdam! - The spot exceeded my Father and I's expectations. Beautifully docked with stunning views of the canal, the cute ducks, and the Amsterdam skyline, it was truly a delight to sit outside on the dock and enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine! The dry sauna was an extra bonus - the host was kind enough to bring us some wood so that we can get it started! Beds were comfortable, small - but fine considering the size of the unit. Washroom was adequately equipped with soap. The location is very well located, near the markets and a short walk away from the core of the city. The size of the unit is indeed a little small, however the novelty and charm of the unit make up for it!
- Leslie (10/5): - Amazing little gem! We would definitely stay again. It is definitely out of the city bustle but accessible by tram and walking.
- Donna-lee (9/5): Superb -
- Fairlie (10/5): This is the second time I have stayed at Little Amstel. It really is perfect! -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lili (5/5): Charming but wouldn’t stay again. - The novelty of being on the canal and the charm of the property is beautiful. It was very cold, the whole place could do with a decoration refresh and the sink is too small.
- Goldie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, boat was clean, comfortable and has the most amazing views. Loved it.
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, near metro and tram stations, markets and other facilities.
Comfy rooms with perfect view.
Loved everything and hope to go back soon.
The best location in Amsterdam.
- Debbie (8/5): It is in a lovely area away from all the touristy things. Great restaurants and the Albert Cuyp market - I loved the outdoor space. Sat out there with a beverage each night bundled up. The space is extremely small (which I knew before booking it) However it did make it difficult to share with an adult child, changing etc.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional - I lovely cosy place with great views and in a great location.
I messed-up with my check-out and they were very gracious and helpful waiting / working around me. They also recovered a watch left behind by mistake.
- Mark (10/5): Excellent location and view. Great place to stay -
- Simona (9/5): Perfect accommodation in Amsterdam - Studio is little but cozy and the view is amazing! Very clean, everything else was as expected. Our stay was in November, definetly need to come back during summer :)
- Alisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amber (7/5): Loved staying on a houseboat. The views were incredible. - The location on the Amstel was great! Easy to get to on public transit. Staying on the houseboat was wonderful! It was noisy because of the nearby bridge and traffic. The automated check in was unusual. We’d pre booked the hot tub but when we saw it we were very disappointed. It was very dirty and not usable. We’d emailed Andrew and he said it was fine. We never used it and we’re not offered a refund on the hot tub booking. The lighting in the bathroom is very dim.
- Maria (6/5): Pleasant - Location. It was cold in the room and it smelled like old summer house. There was no spa like it said on the add and the shower head was really bad. The floor in the bathroom was freezing
We had to pay 100 euro for 2 days of parking and not 40 euro pr day as it said
- Brian (10/5): Amstel Houseboat - Excellent location, fine for a couple.
- Pam (8/5): - The experience of sitting out on the patio at night with a beautiful view of the canal was lovely but we don't believe that the cost of the room - $320.00 CAD - was worth it.
We appreciated the assistance we received from Andrew.
- Katrina (10/5): - Beautiful setting, great transport options, very unique propoerty, didnt use the hot tub as weather was not our favour ..decking gets slippy. Bed was so comfy and the coffee selection was brill. Only 4 min walk to trams to centre. Will definitely be coming back!
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadezhda (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay here very much. It's unlike everything else I experienced traveling. Room is very cozy, there's great view and the host is very nice, accomodating, easily reachable in case of any problem and will help you with anything you need.
- Georgia (10/5): Experience Amsterdam like the locals do! - So amazing, what a cool experience staying on a houseboat in Amsterdam, just like the locals do. Once in a lifetime opportunity!
Also just a 2 minute walk to the Albert Cuyp Market and cute restaurants around. 2 min walk to a tram station which takes you right into the centre of town if you don’t feel like walking or riding a bike. There was nothing we didn’t like, it was amazing!
Only thing I could suggest to the next people staying is if you’re a light sleeper, you might need to wear some ear plugs as the cars crossing the bridge can be a little noisy but not too bad.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathleen (8/5): Very good - Location was convenient and we enjoyed sipping wine on the deck.
We did a beautiful boat ride for 3 hours which was lovely. Andrew was really nice to let us borrow an umbrella when it rained. Not having control of the AC. It was quite hot sleeping at night because it shut off around 9 pm. The lighting in the bathroom was dark.
- Areena (9/5): Superb - location is great , privacy, loved the deck
- Hanne (10/5): Essential Amsterdam experience. - I really enjoyed staying on the houseboat, so well organized and comfortable. So nice to stay directly on the water, waching all the different boats traveling on the river Amstel from the sumdeck outside the room.
- Hege (10/5): - Sjarmerende båthus som ligger sentralt. Rent og pent og god service.
- Natalia (10/5): The view! The location! - Absolutely stunning view on the river, can’t beat it.
The room is tiny, but very clean and comfortable. The beds are good, there’s a lot of light and air from the windows, convenient to have a coffee maker and a fridge. Sitting outside directly on the water is amazing! Check in and out with a smart lock is quick and easy. Like other reviews mentioned, there are still no wine glasses 🤣
- Marnie (8/5): Gorgeous veiws, a little body at night, clean room. - Gorgeous sundeck on the water, very clean room. Unable to control air conditioner (centrally controlled by owner) although after first hot sleepless night and an email to owner they put cooling on overnight. Also needs wine glasses.
- Carol A (10/5): - The location was amazing! Being in a houseboat on the water was a wonderful experience. The host was super responsive and helpful.
- Lærke (2/5): Room with bad smell and mould - The room had a really bad smell of mould and there where mould in the room. Unfortunately we could not get a refund, only some nights at another location for another time. We decided not to stay in the room because of the smell and for health reasons. So we booked another hotel.
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - Everything especially the views of the Amstel, watching the boats going up and down, the wildlife in particular the heron who visited regularly along with swans and their cygnets feeding alongside the houseboat after dark.
The property is well appointed. It has been designed to fit everything into the space. Plenty of tea and coffee provided.
Location is good for all amenities.
Cleanliness was very good.
Did not meet the host as not necessary. Good information given beforehand.
The digital key worked perfectly.
Recommend and would like to return. I would have liked a tea towel and cleaning cloth for cups and glasses.
Slight damp smell on arrival which cleared after venting with door.
Would prefer pot plants separating the outside deck.
Shower curtain needs laundering or replacing as staining which is maybe limescale on lower section of it.
- Nicole (8/5): - We had a great stay on the house boat. It was awesome to watch all of the boats go by on the large Amstel waterway. Great little seating area outside as well. One downside is the rooms air conditioning is kept a little hotter than comfortable for us with no way to turn it cooler. It was also a bit of a walk with luggage to the metro. Overall great stay though and I would absolutely recommend staying in a houseboat while in Amsterdam, it’s a unique and really cool experience.
- Deb (9/5): This stay exceeded my expectations. Thanks Andrew. - The location was brilliant. Literally on the river ( as you’d expect for a houseboat). Minutes walk to Metro and three stops from all the action. Maybe a toaster and basic crockery to assist breakfast preparation would be useful.
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Annette (7/5): Good -
- Emily (10/5): peaceful good value for money - lovely scenery, just a tram ride into the centre, clean and simple to access nothing!!
- Louise (9/5): Superb - Small but well designed & very clean with comfy beds. Outside deck on Amstell River was great for relaxing. Communication with owners was excellent right from booking. Outside area needs a bit of tidying. Description needs updating as they no longer do breakfast & the "pool" is the river 😄
- Kevin (10/5): Outdoor space makes this property a rare find. - The outdoor space was a real bonus for a stay in Amsterdam. Clean, practical, easy access to nearby tram stops, lovely view. Away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to be a perfect bolt-hole. I could criticise the interior space but most properties in Amsterdam are small, the outdoor space more the made up for it.
- Jim (9/5): An enjoyable and unique experience of canal living - The location was great and the experience was unique. The bed was really comfy and it gave us an insight as to what it would be like to live on the canal. The check in process was ridiculous. It was a remote check in, where by You HAD to download the nuki app. On arrival after travelling our phones were almost flat. It was a cumbersome exercise to hold the phone in the rain with no awning, to access the accommodation. If, for example you left your phone inside and went outside to the bin etc, you would have no way of accessing the accommodation or calling the owner. We suggest a lock box with a combination would be much better.
- Simone (6/5): Great for a short stay experience simple to say you stayed on a houseboat. - Actually staying on a house boat in Amsterdam was a little fun. It was quiet and being on the water is always beautiful. Quite a nice location. The property was very small and no where to put our cases. TV wasn’t hanging straight on the wall and was at an angle hard to watch. Also the lock box to store our cases when we checked out was way too small for our cases so we had to take them with us.
- Mina (10/5): - Very nice stay on the boat. Terrace is very convinient if you want to stay in the sun. Very calm even though there is a bridge but the noice is not very hard.
Nice small room with everything you need.
One inconvenient: the soap was not refilled there was no soap but we used the shower gel that was refilled.
- Paraskevi (6/5): A bit of fun - Staying on a house boat in Amsterdam was a novel experience and fun when travelling with a child. It was great to watch the boats and birds pass by and the sun rise over the river. After a few days the small size starts to feel a little crowded. A little expensive for what it is. We also found it hard to find good breakfast close by, which made it hard as I was with a 10 year old. The house boat is a bit of fun but probably not for a long stay.
