• Yael (10/5): An amazing stay! - Super hotel with a beautiful Scandinavian design in the middle of China Town of KL. The room was lovely. Breakfast at the Raw is super tasty (Açai bowl very recommended as well as burnt avocado toast). Staff are lovely from the person who opened the door of the hotel, reception and the restaurant were nice and helpful. The location is lovely and lively. There’s a beautiful space- the library- where one could work. There is a floating cocoon which I didn’t get to book. I was there for 4 nights for a business trip and enjoyed every moment! Very recommended! Nothing!

• Lasse (7/5): Nydeligt hotel - Nydeligt hotel, super service og skøn morgenmad (som ikke er gør det selv buffet men bordservering). God beliggenhed. Boede på hotellet af to omgange og anden gang oplevede jeg problemer med trafikstøj. Værelserne er heller ikke voldsomt godt lydisoleret, så husk hørepropper hvis du har hang til let søvn.

• April (9/5): - A calming and comfortable retreat from the bustling streets. Ample space, beautiful design and fabulous a la carte breakfast options. Loved the Aesop toiletries, spacious room and ensuite.
• puay koon (10/5): Wonderful stay in the heart of China town - The bed was comfortable, love that they uses Aesop. Room was clean and there are some free movies to watch. Location was right in the middle of China town just opposite the Chinese temple. Breakfast was wonderful. I would definitely come back again. Oh and their service was 👍 as well. We booked a room for two but before our trip wanted to add another person. We messaged the hotel in advance to enquire a room for 3 but there were no reply at all. Luckily we booked an extra room and when we reached there, the hotel in charge managed to get us a room next to each other and a discount. Thank you for your help and understanding. Just a feedback, perhaps it would be good if someone reply the message.

En het ontbijt was fantastisch! Fijne was dat we een eigen balkon hadden waar je 's avonds lekker kon zitten. Zijn er niet heel veel van in Chinatown. Dat jet balkon onderliep tijdens een tropische regenbui en het water helaas maar heel langzaam wegliep. Duurde een aantal uur.

Booking podwyższył mi standard pokoju. Po przyjechaniu na miejsce okazało się że dla 3 osób przygotowany jest pokój z jednym zwykłym łóżkiem dwuosobowym. Hotel nie prowadzi polityki dodatkowego łóżka ale pozwala zrobić rezerwację dla 3 osób w dwuosobowym pokoju. Na szczęście dzięki pomocy managera dostaliśmy dwupokojowy apartament.

The inclusion of a take home Aesop balm and premium footwear shows an intentional focus on the guest experience. Even minor details like the provision of branded Colgate toothpaste and meticulous housekeeping evidenced by intricate towel art confirm a high standard of care. For those who require reliable connectivity, the WiFi speed reaches 200mbps, which significantly outperforms the benchmarks found at typical Marriott properties. Very comfortable bed Nice pool/gym and Aesop products in the bathrooms! Dinner at yellow fin horse is a must, the restaurant host was so great and the chefs were so lovely! Food very yummy and well priced wine! Breakfast service was pretty chaotic and a lot of options not available, staff not super attentive/meals forgotten, one of the female wait staff was quite rude Probably would eat breakfast outside the hotel next time and definitely wouldn’t add breakfast unless it’s already included with your stay!

• Silvia (9/5): Good but wouldn’t go back - The hotel was very nice, clean, and staff was helpful The location in Chinatown is not nice at all, far from the centre and there were homeless people basically sleeping outside of the main door Breakfast was good but so slow! On the first day it took us one hour to get the food! Staff was nice but totally unhelpful, I asked for a Dyson attachment and they said no, asked if we could dine at the restaurant and they said no - felt a lot like outside customers were preferred over hotel guests

• Chen_Lan (10/5): Top Notch, Beautiful Place You Dont Want To Miss - Family Staycation, choose this hotel because of neighbourhoods, indeed so much difference compared many years ago, so many good foods and good shops. We wrote in for some request prior our arrival and all were responded fast by the General Manager. Everyday afternoon we out for local foods and at the evening can chill at their restaurants, all the staffs always have smile on their face. What my kids like was train station so near hotel and just 1 to 3 station to TRX and Pavilion. We definitely will come back again and recommend this hotel to all friends

• Shin Yee (10/5): It was excellent, and we will be back. - Breakfast was included with the room stay, and it was excellent. I liked that we were given a la carte options, thus ensuring that there was less waste all round compared to a buffet. The bar in the restaurant was also a nice place for sundowners before we headed out for dinner. The room was spacious and the location of the hotel was excellent and was a much welcome haven of respite from the colour and chaos of the Chinatown area so we could easily pop in and out for breaks when it got too hot in the afternoons. It was also easy walking distance to many sights, cafes within the Chinatown area, and its surrounds, including Central Market, the newly and beautifully restored Sultan Abdul Samad building, Dataran Merdeka and the Textile Museum. Staff were friendly and professional, and service was very good. I would have preferred a larger bedside table that can accommodate at least a book, a glass of water, my reading glasses and my mobile phone. The current one with with the screen on it is not large enough to be used comfortably. The coffee and tea selection was also limited to one per type (what if there were two people who wanted the same thing?), and some spare loo rolls would have been welcome. There was also no hand and body lotion , which would have been nice to complement the already very nice toiletries. What we found slightly limiting was also the lack of drawers in the closet area (but that's a personal preference). Overall though, no major complains!

• Shaun (9/5): A fantastic destination hotel - Friendly welcome with iced drinks; bag (in wardrobe) to use during our visit; infinity pool; the layout, library, style, artwork and the general ambience and decor. Also valet parking in the city centre for only RM25 - great value! We only had one night here but would have loved to have stayed longer! We didn't really like the obscured glass doors to the bathroom - stylish but lacked privacy and just seemed odd, especially for a brother and sister sharing a room. The a la carte breakfast was good, but wouldn't be our preference by choice due to dietary issues. Having said this, we'd definitely go again!

Both restaurants had cozy bars, with great food. I especially appreciated the attention to detail, from the lighting to the toiletries, which made the stay feel elevated without being over-the-top. Service was another highlight. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, whether it was recommendations for local eating spots or assisting with small requests quickly and efficiently. The location is excellent, especially if you enjoy exploring on foot. It’s conveniently close to cultural landmarks, cafes, and vibrant street life, making it easy to experience Kuala Lumpur beyond just the typical tourist attractions. Overall, Else Kuala Lumpur is a fantastic choice for travellers who value design, comfort, and personalized service. I will absolutely stay here again.
• Annemarie (9/5): Wonderful boutique hotel in the middle of Chinatown - I loved the design, the overall vibe, the used natural materials. The room was small but cute & very comfortable. The gym was small but I loved their machines, especially the rowing machine. The pool area was also great, to hang out & read outside. I loved the shower, it was huge, as well as the soap & shampoo products. The location in the middle of Chinatown was very convenient to get around for shopping, massage or food. The staff was very friendly. The coffee with oat milk (latte) was really good. There were not many vegan breakfast options unfortunately.

The hotel feels very well curated and peaceful, which is a nice contrast to the energy of Chinatown just outside. • Companion35385621590 (10/5): Nick made all the difference in whether we would return - First off, it is absolutely imperative that I start off my review with the fact and statement that without Nick, I doubt our stay at ELSE would have been anything spectacular. 99% of our stay WAS MADE amazing purely because of Nick and his tremendous hospitality and effort to make our stay as comfortable and welcoming as possible. The other 1% is attributed to the lovely atmosphere of the hotel. Even before our stay, Nick has already made it so that we LOOKED FORWARD to it with his humour and kindness. Needless to say, I have never been more satisified with a stay and service at any hotel before this. We definitely plan to return to ELSE again some time in the future, and a big reason for that would be Nick (would we return if he wasn't there? To be honest, we're not sure! All of the staff were extremely helpful, accommodating and friendly. The building and rooms are beautiful, it truly felt like a retreat while also being in the heart of vibrant KL where it was easy to walk around, and a short distance by car to other key settings. Food was fantastic, rooms were tasteful, everything was perfectly clean.

• Anna (10/5): One of my favorite hotels - I can’t express how much I love this hotel. All the little extra things they think of like a little coffee station in the room and big bottles of filtered water in sealed glass bottles. Aesop products in the bathroom. It’s a very peaceful place to walk into in a busy area of town. Bed is very comfortable and the staff are wonderful. Highly recommended. -
• Wanderer472712 (10/5): Serene luxury - The Else Hotel has a lovely serene atmosphere housed in a former Lee Rubber 1930s building in a prime spot in Chinatown. The design by @studiobikin is so thoughtful with artefacts, soft tones and quiet spaces like The Library. I stayed in a suite with separate areas on a trip with my father and there was privacy and space. The rooftop pool is delightful and the restaurant very good. The team were delightful and I would recommend highly.

• Traveler66965398902 (10/5): An excellent stay in a charming hotel in Chinatown - A lovely, charming boutique hotel in the heart of Chinatown! It is in an excellent location surrounded by old school eateries, coffee shops, bakeries, flower shops. Walking down Chinatown is like a memory lane filled with nostalgia. I had my dinner at the hotel’s Yellow Fin Horse restaurant with amazing food and cocktails. A must stay in my next trip!

Big shout out to Margeritha for making sure our stay was a special one. Service, in general, was outstanding from every single person in the hotel. The area and the view (from room and pool) are a very big let down, but this is not hotel's fault; since here I'm judging the hotel itself, it's a 5 star boutique hotel experience, no doubt.
• Rhrogers1 (10/5): A quick 5 star stay - Stayed one solo night at this lovely boutique hotel in Chinatown, and it exceeded expectations. The bed was super comfy with a pillow menu for perfect customisation, and staff were outstanding. Special shout-out to Nick, super helpful, informative, friendly guy who went above and beyond. The pool has amazing views of local architecture, and the hotel itself, set in the restored Lee Rubber Building, is a perfect example of modern art and design meeting historical preservation. A must-visit for design lovers.
• VanessaB974 (10/5): Everything perfect! - I did a lot of research before booking Else in KL, but I was not prepared for just how lovely this hotel is. Every detail is carefully considered to ensure maximum wow and relaxation. We stayed one night in a Mantra room and immediately booked another night a few days later, in a Sanctuary room (a little more expensive but totally worth it for the city view). Superb breakfast, real coffee, excellent cocktails, gorgeous pool, beautifully decorated rooms, lush toiletries and friendly staff. Highly recommend a massage at the spa across the road, included for free if booking directly on the hotel's website. Host Nick went out of his way to look after us and is exceptionally good at his job. Thanks so much Nick! KL is an amazing city and Else is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Can't wait to return
• hoerup (8/5): Beautiful hotel in chinatown ⸻ A beautiful hotel with great potential - The hotel is truly beautiful—a refined blend of a New York boutique hotel and Scandinavian design, with a subtle Malaysian touch. We stayed in the Else Suite, which was excellent: spacious, elegant, and very comfortable. We tried both restaurants, enjoyed the food, and made good use of the pool, which all added up to a very pleasant overall experience. That said, after four years of operation, I expected the service to be more polished. It was perfectly fine, but not quite at the level the hotel’s design and concept suggest. During our three-night stay, turndown service was only offered on the final night. Restaurant bookings were also a bit confusing—we received confirmations, but when we arrived, the reservations could not be found (this was resolved on the spot, so it was not a major issue). The minibar was not replenished daily and had to be requested, and it was only lukewarm. In the pool area, the water fountain was not refilled. These are all small details, but they do matter at this level and would benefit from some fine-tuning. As we were not asked for feedback during our stay, I’ll leave it here instead. I am confident I will return next year, and I truly hope the hotel will have focused a bit more on service and attention to detail. Such a beautiful hotel deserves to shine in every aspect.

The hotel’s location is great, just a short 5-minute walk to Central Market and Petaling Street, with plenty of nearby restaurants offering both local and international cuisine. It’s also close to attractions like the Perdana Botanical Garden and the Butterfly Park. I really loved the hotel’s interior design! It’s stylish and unique. The food at RAW Restaurant was excellent, and the staff were responsive, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend Else Kuala Lumpur to anyone visiting the city

Excellent interesting a la carte breakfast choices. Wifi password should be written down somewhere, not merely stated to guests orally when they check-in so that they forget by the time they arrive to their room.

• Samantha (10/5): An oasis of tranquillity in the heart of Kuala Lumpur - Everything. Absolutely everything! This hotel was probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in. First of all, the design is incredible. Every little detail is beautifully crafted and curated with so much care and attention, from the furniture to the decoration in the common spaces. Whenever I was in the room or in one of the shared areas, I immediately felt relaxed, and it made me want to stay at the hotel all the time. The people working there are all incredible, from the person opening the door to the waiters in the restaurant and the staff at reception. Apologies, I wanted to ask for their names to mention them, but I forgot. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. For example, I asked for poached eggs for breakfast without realising they were not one of the available options, and they made them anyway. We only tried the breakfast, so I cannot comment on the rest of the restaurant dishes, but it was excellent. Over the three days we stayed, we tried both sweet and savoury options, and everything was tasty, fresh, and filling. I usually skip hotel breakfasts as I am not a big fan of continental breakfasts, but this one was outstanding. Everything is prepared fresh and made to order, not left sitting in food warmers for hours. The hotel also has a small gym and a flotation pod (flotation pod not included in the price) which was a wonderfully relaxing experience. I am not sure if I will ever return to Kuala Lumpur, but if I do, it will only be if I can stay at Else. That is it so far away from where I live and I that I cannot go there more often :D
