- NosDucar (4/5): Disorganized housekeeping and front desk - We stayed over a December weekend. The location is great, but the service is quite subpar. We had two rooms and neither room was initially freshened by housekeeping on the first night by the time we returned after dinner. Spoke with front desk directly but only one room ended up being addressed despite a second in-person stop at the front desk that night requesting the room be addressed. On our departure day, we had a late checkout and came back two hours early to find house keeping already in room with everything stripped down despite our luggage and items still in the room (they worked around them). We also asked for a humidifier one evening (on their list of available items), but it required two phone calls to get it delivered and then it had only a USB cord despite the hotel not having any USB ports in the room - so a third call was needed to get an adapter. After check out and a clean closed account, we got our credit card bill which still had a significant charge from the initial hold at check-in. For this level of hotel, they should be able to do much better.

- 804rosay (6/5): Almost there.. - Overall a decent stay, but not the best value and not sure that I would choose Grayson again. Pros: The people who work here are very kind, the location is incredibly convenient, and the hotel is dog friendly. Cons: The small, inefficient elevators were frustrating -- often requiring a 5-10 minute wait seemingly at all times of day. On several occasions, there would be 2-3 full elevators before we would finally get one that would fit our party of 2. We only requested housekeeping one day of our entire stay and when we returned to the hotel room at 430pm, it still had not been cleaned. Though it eventually did get serviced it was a subpar: there were not enough new towels, the coffee was not replaced, the vanity kits not replenished etc. The sound insulation is not great and the rooms are very small/ dark.
- terrytY1367XL (10/5): Friendly and helpful staff - I was going to give The Grayson four stars because of a few faults. But the staff were so wonderful I had to go for five stars. It’s a convenient midtown option and close to a subway. My beef is that I asked for a room away from the elevator and the desk put me next to the elevator. I should’ve gone down and asked for another room but I was tired from traveling. I also should’ve asked for a higher floor because I had no view. And speaking of elevators, they are so slow. It didn’t help that the hotel was packed for the holidays. The hotel is in the middle of 38th street which is nice because you don’t have the noise of the avenues. I was amazed at how quiet my room was, and it was only on the eighth floor. The room is small and might be tight for two people. But Manhattan is extremely expensive so I think it’s a good value. I also wish they had a real dresser as opposed to floppy baskets in the closet. The bathroom is nice with pleasant toiletries. The hotel and rooms are clean. The restaurant is so so. There is a rooftop bar which has a beautiful view. I went up to look but didn’t have a drink.

- Quest589499 (10/5): A very, merry stay for Christmas in the city. - Wonderful stay at Grayson! Excellent location, very friendly, helpful staff, close to a subway station and a short walk to several points of interest. Design and decor is definitely more contemporary and while small (as described), our room was very quiet (26th floor) and the bed was extremely comfortable! It was very clean and housekeeping tidied up each day. I was very pleased with our stay and happy that we chose Grayson after considering at least a dozen other hotels. NYC during the Christmas season is not inexpensive but a great experience.

Would definitely stay again - loved the rooftop bar and views however service was subpar and so slow (food is made “downstairs “ so don’t bother to order food o/t $15 chips and salsa! Still a great view!) Breakfast was amazing- again service was super slow sitting guests, bringing food and bev but okay… we are on vacation right?!

My room was neatly appointed, quiet for NYC, and comfortable. The location is perfect. What really set this place apart was the service. Everyone from the housekeepers, front desk, restaurant staff, bell staff were attentive, cheerful and comfortable to be around. The Grayson is my new “go to” when in NYC. Thank you!
- Troyhth (10/5): Nice hotel, Great Location by Bryant Park - Nice hotel in a very convenient location by Bryant Park. Price was the most reasonable in the area for the time of year we went. Rooms were modern. Bed and pillow was super comfortable. I would stay here again.
- meadisu (6/5): Decent Stay, but Overall an Average Hotel for the Price - We stayed at The Grayson for a few nights in December. The hotel is perfectly adequate, but nothing about the experience stood out compared to mid-range brands like Holiday Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, or Hyatt Place. It’s clean, the staff is friendly, and the location is convenient — but the overall feel is more budget-to-midscale than boutique, despite the branding. The common areas are very limited for the number of guests, and several spaces were closed for private events during our stay, which made the property feel a bit congested. Elevators can also be slow during busy times. Our room was comfortable enough for sleeping, but the hotel doesn’t have many amenities that make it a place you’d want to spend extra time in. It’s essentially a solid home base if you plan to be out exploring most of the day. Nothing was particularly wrong, and we didn’t have a bad stay — it just wasn’t memorable or distinctive. For the rates in this part of Manhattan, there are other hotels that offer more character or better use of space.

Noel also helped us get transportation back to the airport with their Grayson vehicles. The food in the bar and restaurant are great. Also it is in the greatest location. We were close to everything. Highly recommend!
- gustavof268 (10/5): Great Stay with Family - Great location. Family and I stayed there Thanksgiving Week and this hotel exceeded our expectations. Room was ready when we arrived, which was a pleasant surprise. Room itself was a nice size for NYC, beds were comfortable, we had plenty of towels for the 4 of us (something too many hotels miss), and most importantly, room was spotless. Except for the water pressure being a little low in the shower, the bathroom was great. Every single member of the staff at this hotel were a pleasure to deal with and I had no negative experience with anyone. They were all friendly, courteous, and helpful. Breakfast was included with our room, and it did not disappoint. We got the breakfast buffet each day, and it was fully stocked with fresh items each time. The Grayson was a great surprise and will gladly stay again when planning another trip to NYC.

You cannot beat the location - minute walk to Bryant park winter village and radio city/rock center. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the location made it easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. Daniel was especially kind and attentive throughout our stay. He helped with our luggage, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, helped exceedingly with our uber, and just made the whole experience feel easier!

The room was amazing - it was large, modern, clean and super comfortable! We ate breakfast at the hotel - it was absolutely delicious (the chocolate chip French toast was insane). The staff were soooo nice! Overall - the only complaint was the wait time for the elevators (but not a huge deal). We would 1000% stay here again!!

I have not received any comment from the hotel yet, and it is already a week after they charged me right after my cancellation.
- HarmeshK (8/5): Friendly vibes & Good service - We chose the hotel for its proximity to Bryant park & the public library .. located close to Summit 1 too & we were not disappointed. The rooms are small & we had to ask for the coffeemaker & mini fridge which came fast enough . There was place for just one chair in the room . The breakfast buffet was excellent as was the service on both days ! Special mention of Makarena she took excellent care of us & was very helpful. The apple cider & lemon infused water in the lobby was a good addition
- chloeb755 (6/5): Comfy Rooms - Great Location - But Needs Improvement - The Grayson hotel was well decorated and clean and in a great location. The rooms were larger than what you typically find in NYC with good storage for just me and no awkward tight spaces. The bed was super comfy and I slept pretty well most nights. I felt that the ceilings were a bit weird though, it was like the room was unfinished, I guess it was meant to look like that but just seemed odd and not in keeping with the rest of the décor of the hotel. Staff were friendly especially at breakfast and the rooftop bar (albeit we had to wait a little while for drinks and didn't even order cocktails). My one issue were the elevators. They were so slow! 3 of them serviced the floors including the rooftop and most days (whether early in the morning before 8:30am or late at night after midnight) you'd be waiting at least 5 if not 10 minutes for one and you'd be lucky if it wasn't already full! The noise coming from them was also horrendous, my room was directly opposite 2 of them and the screeching noise at night and in the morning was so irritating. I also found that the amenities in the room weren't great, no free water (they charge you $6 a bottle and even though I didn't touch them I was charged anyway!) And the ironing board wouldn't stay up, so I think that was broken. My colleague got stuck in her bathroom as the sliding door had fallen off the bracket, I had to call for maintenance to get her out (luckily she wasn't travelling alone!) And there was no communication from the hotel to say it had been fixed whilst we were at work for the day. This was a company paid trip but I would say it's not good value for money and I've stayed in better hotels in NYC.

This was my first day at the Greyson and it was great. The property is in a great location near Bryant Park. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and accommodated a request to a high floor, which was much appreciated. The was one of the best I've had for a New York City stay. I am very used to being in a shoe box size room and this one actually was not like that at all. It was well appointed, very clean, and had great room darkening shades. Shades. There was no noticeable traffic noise and everything was perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

We had to speak with hotel staff in which they sent up housekeeping who simply gave us the sheets to try to change for ourselves. Had to complain to hotel staff so that they would send up Housekeeping so they would actually change the bedsheets themselves. They comped one night for this. Absolutely disgusting this is a huge health issue and should’ve been a lot more than a simple one night comp. Will never go there again. All pics and vids were sent to the hotel manager. I would not recommend staying here.

For me, the experience moved from four star to five star for one reason: Reuben. One morning I was running late for breakfast. As I joined my husband at his table, I asked Reuben for a takeaway container so that I could eat my breakfast as we walked to our meeting. Rueben quickly accommodated that request, and without my prompting, he followed up with three more things he thought I would need (a to go cup for my drink, a packet of disposable utensils and our check for a quick exit). He sent us off with an amazing smile and feeling like we were the most important thing happening in his day. We had a great stay at the Grayson, but I will always think of this hotel as The Reuben and look forward to staying here again.

Helpful, friendly staff, especially Daniel, who made sure everything was running smoothly when things got busy in the lobby.

Rooms were clean, nicely furnished and high quality. Water fountain in the lobby is great for filling bottle up. Stayed in a standard room which was plenty big enough for two and the big was big and comfortable. In our room we had coffee making facilities (bring your own tea bags), safe, mini fridge, hair dryer, robe and slippers, vanity kit, shower cap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body moisturiser. There was also a list for additional amenities. The room was nicely dark at night due to the tinted windows (less ideal in the day as the room was always quite dark, good lighting in bathroom though). Definitely pack ear plugs as we were at the end of the corridor and could still hear the lifts squeaking. There is a really lovely rooftop bar with great cocktails and views of the Empire State Building. Staff were generally friendly and helpful, one member of staff very kindly comped some drinks for us as we were celebrating a big birthday. There is a gym in the basement but didn’t check it out. Would definitely return and recommend!

We stayed there over the weekend for a Broadway trip and the location is perfect if you want to walk to everything within 20 minutes or less. Efficient and comfortable. - Decent lobby Elevators (not particularly fast but reliable) - Daily room service - Central location to touristy things (under 15 mins walking to Times Square, Madison Square, Bryant Park, Grand Central Station, Empire State Building etc) - Closet offers cloth drawers, a safe, several hangers -King room has desk, complimentary umbrella for use, great lighting options, mini fridge - Upper floor has no street noise, blackout curtains work wonderfully - Free bag hold in lobby on your check out day - Room air conditioning works amazingly well but quite noisy to sleep through THE QUESTIONABLE… - The bathroom uses a sliding barn door and has a massive glass window that looks through to the bedroom (with slat blinds). This means bathroom noises and smells seep out to the main room, and there isn’t total privacy for the person in the bathroom. -Shower has medium-low pressure, so takes forever to rinse shampoo out of long hair -Shower products are in communal pump bottles which feel subpar for the Grayson price point - Room offers two small plastic water bottles in the room for a charge of $6 USD each…yikes. -Ceiling is exposed raw concrete which looks dirty. A design choice potentially great for a trendy lounge but not what you want to see in a room that cycles strangers through to sleep on the same beds -Cloth drawers in the closet feel dodgy as they cannot be wiped down to clean and might harbour smells or pests. -King room feels tight, you will remember that you’re in Manhattan. There is no extra “space” to the room outside of walking around the bed, and even that is limited.

It is so annoying to sleep and sometimes wakes us up in the middle of the night. We even have an infant in the room that kept waking up frequently becz of these sounds. We are staying 3 nights. went to the front desk on the first night and let them know but they said it’s late and should come tomorrow. We went the next day and they offered us a downgraded room/lower floor on the same exact corner that could very well have the same annoying sounds so we didn’t bother moving late in the night when the issue could presist and accepting a downgraded room. Then we called again the day after and they offered the same thing to us. No compensation or better service or anything. Anyway, rooms are extremely small we were also bumping our legs in every corner of the room. We will never stay here again nor will I recommend this place to anyone else.

Daniel was also kind to me my entire visit, and Joshua was fantastic! He helped me several times, with a later check out, wifi information, and just a friendly hello throughout my stay. The reception staff was welcoming and happily accommodated our request to move to a higher floor. On our first night, we dined at the hotel restaurant Harta—the food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding. I also tried my very first espresso martini with rum, and it was divine. Another evening, we visited the rooftop bar Cima for a nightcap. The team there was equally accommodating, and the views were breathtaking. At checkout, Daniel assisted us with our luggage and kindly offered to arrange a car instead of us calling a Lyft. Thanks to him, we even saved some money. His kindness and professionalism were the perfect way to wrap up our stay in NYC.

There was a small resort fee with our reservation but received a bonus room credit which also included breakfast, such a great value in a four-star hotel of premium quality. What more can I say other than the Grayson hotel made our trip a delightful short stay and we will definitely be back. The room is a typical size for NY but it was clean and cosy and it made a nice change to have an actual wardrobe to put things away which is not always the case. Location is fantastic and out city view was great. Daniel was a great help getting us a car for the airport and being a super friendly welcoming face whenever we got back. Will definitely stay here again when we are back to NY.

- ArnabSam (8/5): Perhaps the best boutique luxury option in midtown now - [Rated 4.5 stars] While searching for a good midtown option close to either Penn or Grand Central we stumbled upon The Grayson in Amex Travel which was then part of their Hotel Collection. Hotel Collection properties are usually ranked below (both in prestige and benefits) their FHR counterparts but this was a unique property. The Grayson apart from the usual $100 credit, room upgrade, early check-in, late check-out, also offered a daily complimentary breakfast for two which made it almost equal to an FHR. The Grayson is part of a group of new boutique luxury properties in Hyatt's Unbound Collection. A quick search made sure Amex bookings here indeed received Hyatt elite night credits which was later confirmed by the property. Moreover, there was an ongoing discount on booking via Amex when compared to direct bookings via Hyatt. It was thus a no-brainer for our two nights at NY. Incidentally, we were also celebrating our anniversary! The original booking was for a cityview king room. So before travel, I wrote an email to their GM requesting an upgrade. When the email was not answered I requested Amex Travel to investigate. This worked. I got a generic response quickly and then a personalised reply from Michael Scott, their director of front office. As we walked down from the Grand Central and reached the hotel a little after 4 PM we were attended by Manny at the reception. He confirmed our upgrade to an Empire View room (#2707) and knowing that we will be celebrating our anniversary he quickly bumped up our hotel credit to $200! As we made in to our room we noticed a welcome amenity of oatmeal cookies preplaced as were the coffee machine and the refrigerator that we had requested. Nevertheless, Manny quickly came over and hand-delivered a second set of oatmeal cookies. At 200 sq ft, the room was not too different from other midtown hotel rooms. Perhaps, we expected it to be a little bigger. Most of the space was taken by the king bed, which was very comfortable. Two rather small nightstands flanked this bed, which were set against an expansive head board of wood finish, complementing the hardwood floor nicely. One of the stands had the room phone, while the other had a ambient sound generator. The opposite wall had the wall-mounted TV, placed at an offset to the bed. Next to it was the wardrobe, which had a 3-drawer canvas organiser placed inside, seemed like an afterthought. A near full-length mirror with a couple of multipurpose hanging hooks were there too. The wood finish everywhere matched with that of the headboard. The other wall had the only window of the room which had an unobstructed view of the Empire State with the Freedom Tower also visible at the background. The table next to the window was rather busy that contained personalised welcome notes from Michael, the restaurant menu and the coffee machine (not Nespresso) with amenities next to it. There was a rather low back chair too which was not very comfortable. Apart from the cove lights under the bed and above the head board there were 3 more lights: two above the night stands and a small desk lamp on the table. Also, we didn't find the ceiling of our room to be exposed like many have complained. The bathroom was on the larger side for a 200 sq ft room. But it had two glaring flaws. First the door was not lockable. The bigger issue was this clear glass window between the bathroom and the room. Now this is quite common in newer hotels, especially in Asia, but here the execution was at fault. In this case they had horizontal split blinds to cover the glass which meant the room was strictly for couples. Elsewhere, they use block-out canvas roller blinds for the same purpose. The bathroom was a 3-fixture one with a standing shower and Lather branded bath amenities. The shower had good pressure while a narrow metal rack below the mirror could be a place to keep toiletries. The Empire view was nice but it was also very static. Given the height and the excellent sound insulation there was neither any visibility of the streets below nor any sound audible from them. The view was thus more like a painting that changed as the day went by. Unlimited bottled water was complimentary for us and I'm not sure if this was specific to our Amex booking. The elevators were slow especially during the check-in/check-out rush and later in the evening, when their rooftop bar CIMA became a destination. There were two of them plus a service elevator and we frequently ended up boarding the latter. With our $200 credit we opted to have dinner at Harta. Although the menu sounded eclectic, the service was not so which appeared quite rushed and impersonal. No, the restaurant was not full either. We shared the crispy calamari for appetiser while for the mains we went for the shrimp scampi and steak frites. The calamari initially appeared nice but we soon discovered that calamari were cut uneven and so the thinner ones created these big lumps that were soggy and not crispy at all. We were not expecting the shrimp scampi to be served with fusilli where the sauce was so much lemony that any other taste was secondary. Finally, in spite of clearly specifying medium rare, the steak was over cooked which also was an average-cut ribeye. The fries were the saving grace. To our surprise no one asked us about the food. In any case, our original server had disappeared by then. The second evening we tried their rooftop bar CIMA for snacks and cocktail. For hotel guests, they had tables reserved inside but the outside open area was full with outside folks. Here we ordered a couple of cocktails and guacamole, chips and empanadas. The cocktails were okay but the snacks were ordinary. In fact, the chips were like dripping with oil. We didn't stay for long as the ambience was again nothing special except for the views. Being in midtown, high quality, sometimes Michelin-starred food was always a few minutes of walk away. If not for the credit, we wouldn't have dined at The Grayson. The breakfast was a completely different story. I think the Globalists also get the same breakfast where we could order anything from the menu or go for the buffet, except for the steak & eggs. Alcoholic drinks were not allowed. We ordered from the menu each day and portions were really generous and in general every item was very nicely prepared. This was such a contrast to their dinner food. The service was superb too: friendly, fast and personalisable. We did not hesitate in tipping our server. Note that while checking out, all of our food charges were waived off including the tips. The housekeeping was good and water bottles were delivered very promptly at our door when requested. Daily housekeeping took a bit of a time and I had to call twice to schedule it but the service was immaculate. The hotel also had a very good stock of various items with the housekeeping which were available on demand. Check-out took a long time unfortunately. Some unexplained charges to my account not originating from a card owned by me showed up. These were eventually annulled, but the process took a while. Like I mentioned all our food charges including tips were waived off, although we didn't fully use our $200 credit. We also were not charged any resort fees, which typically is a benefit reserved for Globalists. Within couple of days post check-out, we got credit for both our nights but the points were wrongly credited for a much lower eligible amount. I later got it corrected by using the chat option from the Hyatt app.

No one can sleep through the pounding music. Then the rude reception manager when asked about our $25/d vip credit the next day, instead of saying “sorry let me fix it” said “it’s not our fault that Expedia did not transmit that”. It was too late for us to use. The elevators are slow at times. The espresso not great. On the positive, the location super convenient, room small but comfy, restaurant staff nice. Overall, given the choices in NYC we’re unlikely to return

Also my higher floor room view is a bit disappointed. Anyway happy with my stay!

We were in a room with two full/queen beds and one of the mattresses was so wet when my daughter went to sleep the water soaked through her clothes. We called the front desk immediately and they came and brought towels to place on the mattress. They changed everything in about a 30 min process but didn’t have another room for us to move too. Fast forward the next day, the 2nd bed was wet and they sent up sheets. Also, floor in the room was very dusty and they never brought up the sewing kit. Also, towels were not replenished, soap was empty and had to call for toilet paper. Definitely not the 4-5 star experience we were expecting and used to in NYC. Also, rooftop bar was nice but only one bar tender and a line around the corner. Also, bar tender was stressed, drinks made sloppy. Again, not great experience for the price. Would not return.

Pricing was very affordable, and the hotel itself was super clean with no sign of homelessness or dirtiness aprund. Also, the rooms were super clean. The staff was also extremely friendly and welcoming. Overall, a great stay!
- Connector03384572926 (10/5): Clean, convenient and great service - The Grayson is a block from Bryant Park, where people gather for food, drinks, sun and some great free concerts. The hotel is clean, and on a quieter street near some decent restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful, from the front desk, to the restaurant staff to the porters and rooftop bar. Good, hearty breakfasts in the downstairs restaurant and rooftop bar with a fantastic view. Rooms small, but clean, with refrigerator, coffee machine and ours had a nice view of the Empire State Building. Definitely will stay here again.

- Lynn (6/5): - The hotel is conveniently located and the rooms are cleaned to a good standard each day. The lift was slow and on one occasion we had to walk 21 floors to get to our room as all the lifts stopped working. This was resolved reasonably quickly. There are hidden charges for using the facilities eg. Wi-Fi - this was not clear before we booked. However the customer service team was understanding. This information should be made more readily available. Likewise with the $100 extra each night for potential additional costs. This is was not clear before we arrived. Some customers may not have taken this into account when planning their trip.

The room was good except the ceiling looks like unfinished, so we asked the front desk why it looked like moldy and bear looking. They said that that was the design but it’s not a nice look at all, it’s odd compared to other designs of the room. They didn’t give us any vip benefits.
- leanneu07 (8/5): Recommend and would stay again - Great location! Wonderful restaurant in the lobby with a great happy hour! All the food was so good and a great selection. Elevators are sloooow but one of the days of my trip all 3 quit working at the same time. I waited that out in the restaurant since I wasn't in a hurry but I really hope they can fix this issue. Rooftop was nothing special but I really enjoyed the hotel over all.

- workwithk (10/5): Loved our stay at the Grayson Hotel! - If you're trying to find a nice hotel in Midtown that’s stylish but approachable, Grayson Hotel offers that. Our family gathered in New York to see Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway and needed to be near the theatres. Staying at the Grayson put us right in the middle of the action and made it very easy to navigate our way around the city. Our room had everything we needed – from a comfy bed to a small desk, and even a robe and an umbrella. What really made the stay memorable were its people. Mercedes at the front desk welcomed us like old friends and offered tips for navigating the area. Josh bent over backwards to make sure we wanted for nothing. Our nightlife was centred around the rooftop bar. The space itself feels like a swanky lounge, complete with an awesome view overlooking the Empire State Building. And the bar manager Mike put together a playlist that had us all grooving all night. He even remembered us us from the previous night and checked that everyone was having a good time. "When you see a show like Buena Vista Social Club, you don't want the music to stop" we went back to the rooftop for some drinks where Zeo, served us some tasty drinks and definitely made our nights in New York fun! The staff were warm, friendly and hospitable. We felt like we were part of the Grayson family. We can’t wait to go back and will recommend this gem to anyone traveling to the city!
