When I booked, they said that dinner was included, but when I arrived, they told me that I needed to order from the menu and pay extra. So I did. The food was very very poor... Also, the room was small and not clean. Bed is extremely firm. I feel like it would have been softer on the floor if I had more blankets to put. TV didn't work properly. Breakfast buffet very poor too, not many choices.

• Margaret (4/5): Disappointing, would probably not stay here again - Breakfast was decent, water was hot, elevator was working, they were accommodating for a big group to try to get our rooms next to each other, most staff are nice, area was not too touristy Air conditioning was very often not working, so the room was hot for majority of the day. One of our rooms had no shower curtain, and even the one that did was insufficient as water still got everywhere. In our attempt to clean up the water, we used the provided towels on the floor. However, we were informed upon checkout any significant soiling of the towels was our responsibility and would require us to pay (apparently, the towels cannot be bleached and whatever laundry/housekeeping service they use cannot get certain stains out, meaning such towels have to be replaced). This was not well communicated, and if not for a fellow guest to translate for us, we would have had to pay more than we ended up paying. I appreciate that, through translation, the staff tried to be understanding of our situation, but I am very disappointed by this policy regardless. Even the guest who translated for us had to pay for towels she used to help clean her partner's vomit, which begs the important question -- what is a guest to do when they have significant messes to clean up? Pay for towels?? According to this hotel (and maybe other hotels in Vietnam, to be fair), the correct answer is yes, pay, or call for staff to clean it (though it is unclear if this is something extra to pay for as well). Deeply disappointing experience. Also, the location is not the best as it is far from District 1 and though it is technically close to the airport, it is still 20-40 min drive from the terminal. However, there are some restaurants, spas, and shopping nearby, which was convenient.

Breakfast was plentiful but I am co - The shower water was lovely and hot and there was a large shower head. Air con worked. Check-in at midnight was friendly and easy and we were upgraded to a room with 2 double beds. The foyer was very decorative and had beautiful wood furniture. The bed was a little too hard for my comfort.

Even that mode of payment wasn’t mentioned as I had guaranteed my booking via credit card. 5. Unhelpful staff.

• Nathan (1/5): Poor ending - Very close to airport. Staff were friendly up until the point we were due to leave. We were greeted by three smiling cleaners as we left the room to go downstairs and checkout who then rushed into the room as soon as we left. Once downstairs we were told to wait until the cleaners checked the room. We were then shown photos just taken of a pillow that had dye transfered from a piece of clothing and on a bed sheet that had very light dye stains from items of clothing. We were then told that we had to pay £30 as compensation. Not only could they not show us a policy that stated we would need to pay this for sheets and pillow cases that had dye transfered from clothing but the price they charged was extortionate for the items and this is before they even tried washing the items. After disputing the charge the member of staff quickly halved the cost and asked me to pay. After more back and forth she dropped the charge to £11.50. After reading reviews further one star reviews we could see that this was a pattern and were even more determined to resolve matters whilst paying a reasonable price which eventually worked out. Room was also very dated and needed a spruce up.

• James (8/5): - Staff across the board here were excellent. I had issues with the hard beds (am used to western ones). And a friendly young lady who does housekeeping was able to layer a bunch of sheets comfortably for me, I really appreciated this. Breakfast ladies were awesome too, and the parking/security guy. Lots of friendly faces behind the front desk also. I would stay here again. The shower would sometimes decide the temperature for me, and had problems draining. Sometimes the hallway was loud at night, but may of been other guests.

• Minh Phuc (10/5): One Night in Thanh Tai Hotel 1 - I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist, Lê Tân, who went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. She was incredibly helpful and understanding, taking the time to patiently answer every question I had. It’s rare to meet someone so genuinely attentive, and it made all the difference in my experience. The hotel itself offers fantastic value for money – the room was comfortable, breakfast was included and delicious, and the staff were unfailingly friendly. It felt like a place where guests really matter. That said, there were a couple of small things to be aware of: I had some trouble with my credit card being accepted during the booking process, and although you can exchange money at the hotel, they unfortunately do not accept Euros. Still, these were minor inconveniences compared to the overall experience. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming place with great service at a fair price.
