We loved the unique design of the hotel, and the rooms felt like little apartments. Having a balcony was so nice. Also, the showers are excellent; very good water pressure and instant hot water! The beds were also very comfortable. Overall, a great stay!

- ALAN (10/5): The Best Hotel on our trip. - We just spent 12 days touring the Christmas Markets, staying in various branded hotels. I have to say that although WDREI does not offer a restaurant or many other facilities of a large hotel it more than makes up for it with the friendliness of the staff (they are like family to you from the moment you walk in the front door), the overall cleanliness and the comfort of everything right down to the bed. It is like no other hotel we have ever stayed in, all I can say is AMAZING!!! This is undoubtably "The Best Hotel" of our trip, it beat all the branded hotels by a HUGE margin. Thank you to all at WDREI, we hope to stay with you again in the future.

- Olivia (10/5): - We stayed at WDREI for 5 nights in November 2024 and absolutely loved the property. We would highly recommend to anyone staying in Munich! It is a 5 minute walk to Marienplatz with tons of restaurants, shops, and sights all around. Very close to two different train stations as well. The room was clean upon arrival, the bathroom was very large. The staff was very accommodating and let us check in as soon as our room was ready as we had a red eye flight and arrived in Munich early in the morning, so we very much appreciated being able to check in earlier than expected. They also have a common area where you can purchase drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic which was super convenient. They also have items you can borrow such as speakers, hair straighteners, etc. This was a lifesaver, as my hair straightener broke from being overwhelmed by my converter. The staff was very helpful with any questions we had about the surrounding areas or restaurant recommendations. One of the staff members also went out of her way to help us with some ticket issues we were having for a an event we had purchased tickets to in Munich. The rooms are all painted black so it is a little hard to see at night sometimes, so I wish there was a little more lighting available in the rooms. Overall, we had an amazing experience and will be back to stay with WDREI if we ever find ourselves in Munich again!

Great location near Marienplatz, too. I also love the concept of keeping it simple yet very beautiful. No TV. A great “Honesty Bar” with sodas etc. and hot water, etc. FIVE stars, for sure.

Nice coffee room to gather in. Beautiful art on the walls but lighting could be better to offset the black walls. We were there in early October and as such the air conditioning wasn’t working. Found it stuffy but when the windows were open it was noisy. However overall would highly recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modern & Clean Hotel - I was in Munich on business. I am there fairly often. The usual hotel I stay in has put its prices up yet again and is now quite ridiculous. I only need a bed. So I booked this hotel for the first time. Great location, just 4 or 5 mins walk north east of Marienplatz. Good welcome and very clean hotel. Modern. The room was small, but I expected that. No TV in the room, but why do you need one of those? The shower was hot and powerful. Bed was fine, but not the best. There is an honesty bar on 2nd floor - if you take a beer or whatever then just complete the small card and leave it at reception and they will charge your credit card. Online check-in and check-out provided. Usual question - would I return. Yes, most certainly.
- Catherine (10/5): - The WDREI Hotel in Munich Bavaria Germany is a hidden Gem! It’s a hotel that provides its guests with all they need for comfortable stay. The hotel is in a quiet, private neighborhood in an excellent location. There are many restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions nearby within walking distance. We were traveling with friends and booked three rooms for two days. Each of us stayed in room that was totally unique. The rooms have hand painted murals on the walls done in black and white. The murals are hand sketched that with provide the guests with local Munich area points interest. The hotel room rates are very reasonable and they offer a safe welcoming comfortable space. The WDREI does offer it's guests very reasonable priced beverages, drinks, coffee, and snacks for an extra charge. Everyone in our group would stay there again.

My only concern is my room only had a single bed. I am used to small beds in Europe. I am not tall but I found the bed to be uncomfortably small. And the mattress kept sliding off the bed during the night. Otherwise I would have rated this five stars

Safe and quite side street in great neighborhood and close to the outdoor market for our daily breakfast.

- Tyson (6/5): - Out of 5 European cites on this trip- this was by far the most expensive hotel but felt the cheapest. The beds are a flimsy 4inch pad on top of a couple of boxsprings, you can hear people stomping around above you and there are zero amenities. (Not even a tv) Having said that, the staff, when they were there, we're very very nice.

Supposedly has AC and there was a thermostat in the room, but opening windows was much more effective. Our room was also west-facing so the beautiful huge windows took in a lot of heat. High ceilings, large bathroom, and cool decor.

- Eilis (10/5): Wonderful All Round - I knew to expect something a little different having looked at the hotel website and reading the reviews on hotels.com, and that is exactly what you get with this hotel. Relaxed, friendly and trusting that guests can take care of themselves (late check in process and honesty bar self service) without losing any sense that the hotel staff are there for you. I had the double room with balcony on the third floor, which was very clean, really spacious with a comfortable bed. I never watch TV on holiday, so didn't miss there not being one. The room lighting was dimmer than usual (as other reviews said) but only when curtains were closed over at night, and there was still good lighting around the bed if you did want to read. There was plenty of natural lighting during the day. As a female travelling solo, I felt very safe going to and from the hotel, even at night. Perfect location for Marienplatz, and the English Garden turned out to be much closer than expected. Maxvorstadt and the museums in the Kunstareal area are all walkable from the hotel (if you are happy to walk!). The Residenz area is literally around the corner. Would definitely stay again.

- Irwin Lee (6/5): - The hotel itself was very nice. Room was very spacious with a balcony. The only negative side is that when we got there, the hotel address said Maximillianstrasse. There was just a big door on that street with a very small, plaque sized hotel sign saying the actual entrance was around the block in the back of the building. Our ride had already dropped us off and we had 3 big lugagges to lug around to the back entrance. Once at the entrance, the door was locked and there was no intercom. We had to call the hotel local number to talk to someone to let us in. Once she opened the door, though, check in process went in so smooth. The lady was very kind and attentive. Room we got was really nice. Lights were too dark though.

- dee (8/5): Hotel nice but staff does not respond - WDREI hotel was comfortable and well located. With ability to be in shopping, eating, and sights within minutes. The hotel has recommendations for eating mearby. The only problem we had was no communications with the hotel to MANY emails and calls asking that our daughter not have to change rooms in the middle of our stay due to adding a night there. Not only did they never respond but on check in we asked if all 3 rooms were the same for all three nights and were told yes. The following day she was called and told to change rooms immediately and I was told we were ‘late’ for doing so. When again I tried to ask about this was told that the staff ‘saw there were a lot of emails’ but apparently did not read them. This is not acceptable to me and we will not stay there in future trips.

She walked us to our room, gave us 2 bottles of water and a bottle of Prosecco. What a nice welcome! It was clean, updated, and very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.

- Deborah (10/5): - The rooms were spotless, large and had really nice amenities, located perfectly in easy walking distance of the S-bahn (it's possible to get a train directly to the airport with just a few minutes' walk to the station frpm this hotel), the Viktualienmarkt (open air food market selling every manner of farm goods and some prepared foods where one can sit down to eat), several good restaurants and iconic places to visit. Once actually at the hotel, our stay was really great. There are many kinds of drinks available that you can purchase on an honor system inside the hotel, some mineral water and fixings for a gin and tonic for two as well as a few high quality chocolates were complimentary inside the room which was a nice touch. The rooms do not have televisions; the hotel prides itself on having interesting wall murals. A free-standing coat rack is present for any garments to be hung. Their wi-fi works very well. The criticisms I have center around my hidden disability; I am autistic. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival is limited to Expedia's chat. The late check-in forms weren't sent when promised requiring me to call about them; this stresses me a lot. Why couldn't I have received them when I originally notified that I would be arriving late? Also I felt that one of their staff members was incredibly kind, polite and friendly to me, but another of the staff I encountered was curt and...dictatorial. I did not appreciate her demeanor. I would stay here again though.

The alley directly behind as a bar open to all hours and quality of windows were bad so there was so much intense noise could get to sleep until 4:00 am when the people cleared the alley. Such a bummer and so tired for our day in Munich.
- HRHBernardWoolley (8/5): Great location - The hotel is small with just 20 rooms. The location is great. Our room was clean and tidy. There are no tv’s this wasn’t a problem as it’s been years since I have watched tv in a hotel room. iPad has kind of replaced that. The WiFi worked well. There is an honesty bar. We didn’t actually use that but there is one. There were a couple of slightly odd things. First was an email saying that the front desk was open till 9pm but if we were checking in after 2pm we needed to email them for an access code. Well check in doesn’t start till 3pm. When we got to the hotel there was a sign asking guests to call a number to check in. I called the number and was told just to come in. I went into the hotel slightly embarrassed. But why leave the sign out when the front desk is open? I received an email offering online check out. However it didn’t actually work this morning. We went down to the front desk to check out and there was a notice saying that we should put our room keycards into the envelope we were given at check in and leave them in box. I still had the envelope but that was because we were only in Munich for one day. Next time I visit Munich I definitely would consider staying here again. As I said the location is great

- Vincent (10/5): Great hotel, easy access to Marienplatz, yet quiet - The hotel was very nice, the room was spacious and clean! The bathroom was also nice, big and had a great towel rack to keep towels nice anc comfy. The only thing we didn't care for, and other might like it, was some of the artwork on the wall in the bedroom and that with the whole two rooms being painted black the lights were not bright enough. We would've liked a little more lighting. However, I really liked the coffee station and items on the second floor paid for by the honor system. It is nice to go some where and be trusted. The hotel was close to the metro and easily within walking distance to Marienplatz. However, being on a side street it was nice and quiet. And the two ladies who worked at reception were absolutely amazing. Both Morsal and Stella were an immense help in tracking and retrieveing our bags from Lufthansa. They are the main reason for the 5-star rating. I will definitely stay here again on our next trip!

- Minerva Hernandez (8/5): - Very convenient location. A few minutes walk to Marienplatz and train station. It is also 2 minutes from Hofbrauhaus and a few minutes walk to Viktualienmarkt. Very safe even at night. The staff is very helpful and nice. They even let us check in 3 hours early when they found out we came from New York and very exhausted. They were also very helpful with directions. I would definitely stay here again.

- William (10/5): - The staff is super friendly and helpful (Mimi is the best!). The location is perfect for Walking to the Marienplatz, Hofbräuhaus, and all of the shops. I had an emergency situation with my parking on Sunday morning and they answered the phone at 6:00am to assist me with my situation. I highly recommend this hotel.
- Ginger (8/5): - The cleanliness at the WDREI Hotel really stood out to me. It is obvious that they take great care when cleaning, not only the rooms, but the public spaces as well. I also appreciated the room darkening curtains and the overall aesthetic of the hotel. The only thing that I did not like was that there was not staff at the entry door 24 hours a day. The door was locked with a code but would have felt more secure had there been a staff member at the door during the night as well.

- Xiao Yu (10/5): - This hotel is a hidden gem in a great location. The room is huge, stylish, & comfortable. A few things that were mostly minor for me but might be important for others: (a) staff are available via phone, but there is no conventional front desk. If you're visiting from outside of Europe, calls can be $ even w/an international pass (there's no phone in the room). I usually don't need the front desk, but you have to get coffee pods from the staff. I ended up buying my own pods (Rewe is nearby), but I did find myself wishing I could ask the front desk quick questions, & (b) bring your own toiletries. I'd still stay again!
- Kelly (10/5): - I love the simplicity of this hotel. It is clean, in the best location, the price is very reasonable and it has everything you could need. I was able to get a converter to charge my cell and computer, a free bike loaner to cycle around Munich for the morning (which was lovely) and the staff could not be nicer or more helpful. I had forgotten the code to the building at 11 pm and was locked out of the hotel (since there is no staff onsite after 9 pm), but was able to reach the owner very quickly and he was able to assist immediately. The location could not be better...just outside of the Hofbrauhaus and steps away from the Marienplatz. This is a hidden gem! I will stay here again when I return, but I know this is a pop-up hotel, so I hope it is still there!
