- Heidi (10/5): - There were shops nearby with a wide variety of items. For an older hotel it was very clean and well kept. The staff provided clear direction and areas to go for interest and shopping. They were able to answer all of our request. My family loved that there was a lot of space in our room for movement and a lot of finishing touches like small plants and great views from all windows. I would definitely stay here again.

- Merene (2/5): - The room was in terrible condition. When we arrived, we immediately noticed several strands of hair on the linens, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The pillows had yellow stains, and the bathroom had mold and a strong mildew odor. To make matters worse, we saw roaches crawling near the sink. We ended up leaving the room at 1 a.m. because we couldn’t even stay for a full night. When we went to drop off the keys at the front desk, the staff member on duty had bloodshot red eyes. After we explained everything that had happened, he didn’t ask any questions or seem concerned—he just continued scrolling on his phone. I reached out to the hotel afterward and was told they are still deciding on what to do, but I haven’t heard back from them since.

- Shannon (10/5): Would Stay Again - Stayed with 2 friends and loved it. They kept our bags before and after we checked in/out, which was a huge bonus. We were a little worried when our room was next to the elevator but we didn’t hear it. The room was clean and comfortable. It’s a small space, so there are no chairs to sit but the beds were comfortable. We appreciate the fridge, microwave and dishes. Henry was phenomenal with communication- including how long water might take to warm up, etc. I would stay here again with my friends and family.

- Kelsey (10/5): - From the start of the trip and throughout, the host was extremely responsive and helpful! The room was perfect for our family of 4. A twin bunk bed in NYC is not an easy find! It was super close to the subway, many restaurants, shops and stores. The check in and out was a breeze!

Check in was fast and easy as was check out, and the hotel offered to hold our bags at no extra cost.The first night was rough with other guests being loud beginning at 2 or 3 a.m., and on the second night there was loud traffic noise until around midnight. The following two nights were restful. We needed a room for 5 people and this hotel was perfect.

- Emelie (10/5): - This hotel was a great choice for our family of 5 trying to find a space to fit us all that was reasonably priced. The room was exceptionally clean, updated bathroom, and overall nice decor. Everything was as advertised in the pictures. We have three children (between ages of 8-14), and while the space was fairly small, we were able to be in the room with 5 suitcases plus other bags and still move around comfortably. Henry, our host,was friendly and easy to communicate with. We arrived after hours but had clear instructions for check in with the security desk which went smoothly. Location is perfect - subway, shopping, restaurants, and Empire State building just a couple blocks away. We would stay here again!

You can also cook inside if you want but koreatown gives us different dining experience. They can keep your luggage too for free if you came early or check out and still wants to tour around. I will definitely recommend this place.

The street is busy and noisy but hey your in New York City so it was expected! But did not bothered us. The place was clean, it felt safe and we would definitely be staying here in the future.

- LINDA (10/5): - The location was great-we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in the penthouse, so we had a private outdoor area with an igloo. That was lovely to sit in after a busy day. We were very close to the Empire State Building. The management was always very quick to answer my questions and allowed us to leave our luggage there until we needed it. The price was reasonable, in comparison to other hotels. The room was tiny but very clean. The outdoor area was a definite plus. There were 5 of us in our party, and it is hard to find someplace for 5-but this was perfect.

- Sarah (4/5): - The noise coming from the building at night prevented us from sleeping much at all. It sounded like there was someone banging on a metal pipe behind the wall intermittently throughout the night, but I think it was something in the building’s heating system. The staff seemed overwhelmed and rude with the exception of the nice guy who does all of the initial communication and checked our luggage in. In the morning there was a person pooping in the internal doorway. Not great.

- Kathryn (8/5): - This is a cute little studio room with kitchen amenities. It was close to the train station, and it suited our needs perfectly. The only thing I'd like to suggest to the owner is to add wash cloths and maybe a few more bath towels to the bathroom inventory. We had to go buy wash cloths to take showers. And a roll of paper towels and/or kitchen towels to clean up/dry any dishes used. Other than that, it was perfect.
- Eduardo (8/5): - This hotel gives you a rather dismal first impression: it's embedded in a commercial building on 31st, which it shares with assorted businesses that, for example, sell SIM cards or offer to store your luggage. Many people are always sitting in the lobby, with their voluminous luggage. The hotel reception is only open from 9 to 5 but they have mechanisms to let you check in and out at other times. When you go upstairs, you encounter an old low-marked residential building transformed into a hotel. But, very surprisingly, the room is meticulously clean and offers most if not all of the features you'd get in a mainstream hotel! The only two drawbacks, in addition to the disconcerting lobby, are the street noise and the fact that there's no front-desk support from 5 pm to 9 am. But the hotel is conveniently close to Penn Station and you really get a good deal for the money. I would go again.

- Anthony (8/5): - The management communicated well but had some difficulty explaining how the poor reviews of another host in the building is not a reflection of Hotel and the City. They need to clarify their advertising to disassociate from other hosts. Good experience, excellent location, tiny and cute, clean but we would not stay there again because of the very old bed linens and like old buildings the pipes bang at 5am when the heat goes on. I will say that the management warns you…which was odd and funny. With brand new linens and towels I would give it a try again for a one night stay. No smells, no bugs. It really was well kept. And I checked both mattresses. Each had 2 zipped mattress covers.
- Hannah (6/5): Bathroom flooded but great location/clean/comfy - The hotel suite was bigger than expected and very clean. All appliances worked and the beds were comfy. However our toilet randomly clogged at 5am and then started flooding the bathroom. The building maintenance only gave us a plunger and blamed us for putting any toilet paper in the toilet at all. He said someone would bring us more towels and help clean up in the morning but that did not happen. We unclogged the toilet, turned off the water, and cleaned up the flooding ourselves. The concierge was very apologetic and did not make us pay for the damages but we still paid full price for the suite when we couldn’t use the toilet for half of our visit. The heat was also very loud throughout the night however I understand this is pretty unavoidable in old NYC buildings. The location was ideal and easy to find and the free luggage storage was easy and helpful.

- Alana (10/5): - Our room (penthouse 4) accommodated my family of 6 well. It was nice to have a near full kitchen (minus the oven). Beds were comfy. The private patio with a view of the empire state building was a big plus!

- Anika (8/5): - Unit is clean atmosphere but new towels are needed and sheets are also very worn and need upgrade for winter. Communication is great and access to midtown perfect so will come back just hoping you will have fixed towels by then.
- Jennifer (2/5): - Just want to start by saying this is not a hotel. This is a converted efficiency apartment building. The floors are extremely uneven and smell of smoke every where. We got to our room and it appeared to be clean from the surface. The beds were clean, but under neath was full of dust. The extra outlets did not work and it was cold. We had received a message after check in that the water may not be hot and we would need to allow 5 to 10 mins for it to become warm. We made a plan from there on how to take our showers. The next thing was they said that the heating pipes could make noise and not to be concerned. Well that happened all night long. I was awaken multiple times each hour from 11pm until 6am. There was no sleep to be had that night. In addition, for this to be heating pipes it was so cold I could not get warm. If I was staying by myself, I would have just gone to the train station to wait for my train, but I had my child with me. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The Korean donut place right next door is wonderful though.
