Kim (8/5): Great location and staff, has seen better days - Hanoi Lion is in a central location in Old Town. It's a traditional hotel with full time staff and it's quiet. It's very close to a lot of cafes and restaurants. The room was very big. Good breakfast. Excellent staff -- they were truly helpful and friendly. This hotel is getting quite run down and, as a result, doesn't feel clean everywhere. We paid a lot for a large room that was not very good value and was quite dark because of the paint and heavy dark furniture.

RalphG586 (10/5): Centrally located boutique hotel in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter - I usually prefer booking hotels directly, but for this trip the price difference on Agoda was hard to ignore, so I ended up booking a week at this hotel for a business stay on the Agoda booking engine. I chose it mainly because of its good reviews and central location. The hotel is tucked away on a narrow street that is not the most visually appealing, with vendors selling meat and fish just beside it. It is not the most glamorous first impression, but the location in the heart of the Old Quarter quickly makes up for it. You are within walking distance of shops, restaurants, a convenience store, a pharmacy, and even Train Street. I arrived late in the evening and was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. Check in was quick and efficient, which was appreciated after a long drive from the airport. I booked a room without windows, which in hindsight was not the best choice. Something to keep in mind for next time. That said, the room itself was spacious, functional and clean. There were some signs of wear and tear, but it was clearly well maintained. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast is served on the top floor and was one of the highlights of the stay. There was a good selection of food and drinks, and the breakfast staff were consistently warm and attentive. During my stay, I unfortunately got sick for a day or two. The reception team was very helpful and provided details for a clinic with English speaking doctors, which made things much easier. I also ended up spending more time in the room than planned due to the weather and needing to rest. While the lack of windows made the room feel a bit enclosed, it was still comfortable enough to recover properly. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with genuinely kind staff and a very convenient location. I would happily stay here again when I return to Hanoi, just with a room that has a window next time.

ミチヨ (8/5): 良かったです - 朝食がとても美味しかった。特に８階レストランのスタッフは優しくて感じ良かったです。色々美味しかったがさつもいも美味しかった。フォーも美味しかった。ハロン湾ツアーのバンブーは良かった。すごい人で驚いたが頑張って列で待ちながら並んだ甲斐があって鍾乳洞もとても良かった。トイレにペーパーを流して良いのかを、電話で聞いたが上手く伝わらなくて戸惑った。トイレにイラストでも良いので表示して欲しかった。2日目の夜は寝入る時に外がちょっと喧しく、午前4時ごろに部屋の外で英語か？カップルの叫んでいるような大きな声で目が覚めた。ホテルで予約したハロン湾ツアーに参加してとても良かったが、途中下車して竹製品の売り込みの部屋に案内されたのには驚いた。時間が勿体なかった。

The restaurant and bar on the top floor have good view of the city and the breakfast is great. Value for money. Room had limited space to open a suitcase. Rain shower over the bath was in need of descaling - a tiny trickle compared to hand shower full power.

Wor hatten ein innenliegendes Zimmer, das würde ich für einen längeren Aufenthalt nicht so buchen, da es für mich schon befremdlich ist kein Fenster im Zimmer zu haben. Auch war das Zimmer nicht wirklcih groß. Das Personal war super freundlich, es gab eine Begrüßungstee und auch das Frühstück war in Ordnung.

Old Quarter of Hanoi is vibrant and has walkable access to Hoan Kiem Lake and major museums and sights. Staff super accommodating when requesting special services. Rooftop breakfast offers plenty. Dinner menu and happy hour on the rooftop also a good option. Offers luggage storage when needing to catch a night train. Highly recommend Hanoi Lion!

Phillip (8/5): Excellent staff with wonderful care in a great location. - This hotel is a gem. The staff are impeccable. Christine, on reception, should give lessons internationally on customer care. Her mix of humour and practicality/problem solving should be bottled and sold! She was a huge help to us and her care went above and beyond any standard requirement. We are very grateful to her. The entire team at Hanoi Lion are wonderful. The breakfast service was impeccable and we enjoyed the gym, sauna and cocktail happy hour too. This is a small hotel so has the level of care you might experience at a family business. The location is beside train street, a market and the old town shops. I initially booked an 'internal window' room expecting a window into a courtyard, European style. The internal window actually means a window into the hallway, so no natural light. This is common in Hanoi but didn't suit us, so we upgraded to a city view room which was lovely. The internal room was well appointed and the price point very attractive.

We enjoyed our room with windows that allowed plenty of sunlight, especially from the 5th floor, which was a big plus. The Front Office staff were professional and well trained in delivering a pleasant guest experience. The bellman was helpful throughout our stay. Christine and Rose stood out for their professionalism and hospitality, they quietly and effectively supported us and consistently checked on guest satisfaction. One of the highlights of our stay was the restaurant, which suited our Western taste very well. Our chef, if I recall correctly, his name was Tran Dinh Van (apologies if mistaken), along with the waiter on duty during dinner on January 29 and 30, delivered an excellent dining experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Normally, Northern Vietnamese cuisine is known for being saltier, but pleasantly, the flavors here were mild and well balanced with a Western influence. The beef tenderloin and pork dishes were perfectly prepared, well presented, and very satisfying. We are quite picky eaters and have experienced Westernized flavors many times, yet this was one of the few occasions that left us with a very strong impression. The chef’s enthusiasm and passion truly came through in the food. Overall, the hotel is a very convenient choice for travelers looking for a comfortable stay, easy access to surrounding areas, an authentic Hanoian lifestyle experience, and proximity to the Old Quarter blended with modern comforts. With plenty of options for staying, dining, and exploring, this hotel is a great choice. I am still on my business trip, but if time allows, this is definitely a place worth returning to. Located right in the city center on Nguyen Van To Street, Hanoi Lion Boutique Hotel offers several advantages that outweigh its few disadvantages. Admittedly, the hotel is a bit hidden even though it is on a main street, and clearer signage would be helpful.
