Guest Reviews
- Richard (5/5): -
- Kerry (3/5): I wouldn’t return. The staff were helpful enough but seriously the room we stayed in was dirty and smelly. The people ne - The location for what we needed Dirty, smelly and noisy. Horrible light
In the most disgusting bathroom. It smelled dirty everywhere and the curtains were badly stained and the window was broken
- Mateusz (7/5): If the price will drop then is worth to book it - I like style of the room Room was a bit dusty . Bathroom and especially shower could be clean . Also smell from the bathroom wasn’t nice …
- Dennis (2/5): - After 3 Mail still no Invoice for the company!
- Peter (9/5): -
- Dev (1/5): Dirty place, I didn’t check in but was charged full price - Room did not meet with as described on booking.com website. I didn’t even check in . I requested to return the charges but I was refused Room was dark and not clean, bedsheet was used, countertop was cracked. It was nowhere close the pictures displayed on booking.com
- Alan (1/5): Hideous - Disastrous accommodation.
Booking.com should be ashamed to list this place.
Modesty forbids me from describing the true nature of this establishment.
- Amelie (6/5): - Good location, good room, good size, nice staff, very clean, issues were attended too :) Check in was difficult - not self explanatory - could do with some more steps. Had no towels so would recommend that being stated
- Federico (6/5): Alloggio molto semplice, che offre solo le attrezzature essenziali per soggiornare. Personale disponibile, buona posizio - Buonaa posizione
- Owen (6/5): -
- DILIP (10/5): -
- Samuel (5/5): - Nice shower and big TV The exterior was not very promising and aesthetic
- Dawid (1/5): Didn’t enjoy my stay at all will definitely not be booking again - Nothing Property was nothing like the pictures advertised on booking.com, there was a bad smell lingering around the whole place bedsheets ware dirty
- Raphael (1/5): Worse place I've ever stayed - Location The room smelt of damp, it was very small and in urgent need of a renovation. The bathroom smelt even worse of blocked drains and the smell of the bathroom kept coming into the bedroom at night and made me feel sick. Never coming back here. Also it is very expensive for the quality and I booked a deluxe suite!
- Guillaume (5/5): -
- Nora Tir (5/5): Not good for a family travel - I liked the closeness to the busline 26 The apartment is in a shabby narrow street with trash on the pavement. Our room was on the 2nd floor of an old apartment building with a narrow staircase and no elevator, making it very impractical to go with a stroller (we left part of the stroller on the ground floor with others). The bathroom does not have any place to hang towels, and it was unheated, so you need to leave the bathroom door open to let the heat from the bedroom in. There was also a tile separating from the wall in the shower. Also, I found leftovers of rice in the microwave from a previous guest.
The actual value of the apartment shouldn't be above £50 per night for the conditions.
- Kenny (1/5): Totally disappointed. I’m glad I didn’t have my wife staying with me!! - Nothing It was very noisy. Drilling and banging all day.
I had to buy my own toilet paper.
False advertising. Why show photos of lovely rooms on booking.com, which look nothing like your rooms.
Shower door fell off whilst closing them.
Whole place stinks of food being cooked.
- Sahir (1/5): -
- Pamendip (2/5): - Terrible property. We were due to stay for 4 nights but had to leave after the first night. Unclean and not as described in the details. Missing appliances and there were bugs crawling from under the kitchen cabinets. Very poor/uncomfortable mattress. The host then refused to refund us for the 3 nights that we did not stay.
- Shaun (1/5): Disgrace!!! - Location Add said sleeps 3 people and was deluxe apartments.
This turned out to be double bed with springs poping through and single arm chair that turned into bed ,i had to sleep on this padding was worn and 3 steel bars were popping through got no sleep.
Shower screen was missing cooker did not work handels were missing on kitchen and most doors were held shut by a shoddy repair.
Wall paper in main picture on site was hanging down wall.
I really regaretted, not taking insurance for the first time. And left this site two nights earlier.
Appalling!!
- brooke (1/5): - The location was good, the apartment was basic and expected with the price Do not stay here! At first we had no issue with the room, you get what you pay for! However during the night there is an unstable man who lives here! He was screaming for hours and trashing his room and the police had to be called as we are young girls it is scary! And when this was reported to the staff they couldn’t even be bothered to respond! They should not let people stay here if there is a mentally unstable tenant, which is what the police told us, as who knows what else he could do!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Wouldn’t book again - Couldn’t travel-
Yes .. it was no cancellation. But we had very legitimate family reasons for not travelling which involved a bereavement. Pleaded very very well in advance through hotels.com ( who said they did their best to come to some arrangement but no joy whatsoever) ah well - definitely lesson learned.
- Pérez (6/5): -
- Inderveer (7/5): - You get what you pay for, did the job. Satisfied.
- Rachel (1/5): We don’t stay at the property because we don’t feel comfortable. The rooms advertised were not the one he was giving us, - Nothing Everything it was false advertisement because it wasn’t what was advertised
- Elizabeth (2/5): A small, dirty room with a lingering musty smell, a barely functioning bathroom and shady vibe. Would not recommend to a - It was a fairly good location and staff were accommodating. The photos online are a completely inaccurate reflection of the rooms, it was dirty and much more run down than expected. The bathroom tap didn’t work properly, neither did the shower (only ran boiling hot or freezing cold) and the shower was so dirty I did not want to use it. The ‘tea and coffee station’ had some English breakfast tea and mini milks but no coffee or other options, the bed was dirty and I kept finding hairs all around the room. The bathroom smelt musty and disgusting like it had not been aired out or cleaner in ages, and the room was very hot even with a fan. The check in process was also confusing as I had to go to a Thai resteraunt which is never something I’ve done to check into a hotel. The sound proofing was non existent, bed very uncomfortable, paint peeling on walls, I could go on. Would struggle to find anything redeeming about the apartments, felt very much catfished by online pics and reviews.
- Ion (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (5/5): Run down - Cheap and close to the tube Run down, beds not comfortable, one shower door was missing
- Yousef (1/5): bad experience,Bad smell ,I couldn't complete my night -
- Emma (8/5): Good - Good location, easy check in, clean & comfortable, good for a base for a variety of activities in London.
- Robyn (1/5): Disappointed stay - We arrived after a long journey with a child and received no check-in instructions, only managing entry due to a phone call with very low battery. The check-in was chaotic, with multiple access codes. The apartment was not as pictured, with poor cleanliness, a broken shower, unpleasant smells, no TV remote, and I woke up with bites. Overall, it was stressful and not up to the standard expected.
- holly (4/5): - Apartment was okay, and the host was friendly from the single interaction we had, however there were several small issues with the room that should have been rectified before our stay. The wallpaper was peeling from the top do the roof and a sliding shower door was missing from the shower. (We asked for extra towels to deal with this which was ignored). The shower water pressure was very weak and the shower holder was broken. Overall it was an okay stay.
- Nikola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Bernadette (8/5): it was fun. comfortable to stay. very accessible. - inexpensive friendly staff
- Lana (5/5): Passable - Location is great. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes Very basic amenities. Water temperature was fluctuating in the shower and there was very little water pressure.
There was no hair drier, no extra pillows and only 1 towel
- Mervyn (6/5): Ease of access. - Should have put the side street it was on it would have been easier to find . You had to put 6 digits codes in three different doors to get in and get to your room . Keys or key cards would ha ve been easier.
- Keith (6/5): Pleasant -
- Reis (5/5): Passable -
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- Raquel (10/5): Beautiful - The place was clean had essentials needed very comfy bed the room was nice and cool when arrived on a 30⁰c day staff was very friendly and helpful was safe and quiet The amount of stairs I had to climb
- Marguerite (6/5): Ok for 2 nights, no more - Ideal location. Walking distance to Victoria Park and Brick Lane The hotel was expensive for what it is. It needs some more basics like a shower mat, extra towel, hairdryer, small toiletries. An earlier check in time, 15 is very late, it only suited us in the end because our flight was delayed. Also, thought it was very weird there was no real reception for the ‘hotel’; directions were to go to the Thai restaurant close by to do the check in.
- Alistair (7/5): Boutique is misleading - Staff were great and responsive, but we got what we paid for. Unfortunately the bathroom wasn't clean, and the bed was broken so very uncomfortable, raised it with the owner, he just smiled and left.
- Patrick (1/5): Not going back - Area Dreadful room, everything
- Tom (4/5): Needs a bit of tlc - Desperately needs a bit of tlc. Lots of broken things, smells of damp and generally a bit grubby. Somewhere to rest your head for a night it’d be ok but for any length of time I would want a better standard
- Des (7/5): Comfortable and great location but would not return unless improved. - Location Room very tired. Decorations worn and done on the cheap with finishing to a poor standard. Photos of property and room did not appear to represent the property.
- Craig (2/5): - Bad apartment it was dirty
Bedding was dirty appliances dirty
Shower dirty
Floor was coming up
Wallpaper coming off wall
We booked a delux room and paid extra not delux at all
We had to book somewhere else and are requesting a refund
- Matteo (6/5): Great location but not really clean - The location is great The bed sheets were stained
- Anonymous111g (1/5): You wont get through to them by calling they wont refund your money when you cant find the place they are rude and part - Worst place ever don’t book save yourself the hassle Dont come here find another place
- Andrew (4/5): Was literally the last place available - A group of flats above a Thai restaurant. Scetchy as f*** alleyway to get in, and three door codes. Would personally not ever think of staying here again.
- Tracy (8/5): Very good -
- S (2/5): Avoid - Awful damp smell throughout our 2 day stay. Bathroom was not clean. Pillows very flat and uncomfortable
- Ronald (9/5): Superb - Well located - Easy access.
- Gregoire (7/5): Good -
- Evan (1/5): Extremely uncomfortable stay with unreliable hot water, moldy bathroom, and a smelly room. - Avoid! The hot water repeatedly kept turning off during my stay and I had to call and wait for it to be turned back on every time. The bathroom smelled strongly of mold. The entire room smelled like a disgusting car air freshener. This was such an uncomfortable place to stay.
There's no physical reception so the only way to contact the management is by Whatsapp. You're going to have issues if you stay here. It's not worth the price.
- Federico (8/5): Very good -
- adnan (8/5): Good Hotel. - Nice hotel, but not really boutique 😄
Location is good, 15 minutes walk to underground and 10 to overground. Good bus service on main road taking you to Liverpool Street.
Getting access to room was different, you have to go to Thai Restaurant, where you are given codes to enter the hotel area. Staff took me to the room, which was good but no reception.
Room was good, what I would expect for budget hotel.. if you're expecting boutique, you'll be disappointed.
Room size was very good, facing street but not to noisy. Mattress on bed was not good, one side was fine but one side had clearly been overused.
Ensuite was good with nice shower.
Would recommend and stay again.
- martin (10/5): - Enjoyable stay staff super friendly good value for money. Have already rebooked for another stay.
- N (10/5): - Very good location. Well connected with public transportation. Conveniently located for city worker.
- N (10/5): - Very clean and spacious room. The complementary tea making facilities was real bonus.

- James (2/5): Never again - Nothing Lack of cleanliness, dirty extractor fan, loose tile in shower, dirty sheets, floor wasn’t clean
- Zaryab (8/5): It was quiet and good plcae. - It was good. It was fine
- Chris (10/5): - Great location with very friendly and helpful staff who were responsive to any inquiries or requests. The connected restaurant was also top notch and highly recommended. This place is a good value for such a thriving and fun part of London, just make sure to read the check in instructions.
- N (10/5): - I had an amazing stay at Shuteyes in London! The boutique accommodation was cozy, beautifully designed, and offered all the modern amenities I needed. The staff was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The location was perfect—close to all the main attractions but still quiet enough for a restful night’s sleep. Highly recommend!
- Chris (8/5): Good place very happy - Good location, all facilities we good, helpful staff comfortable bed and hot shower. Non

From the moment I checked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making me feel right at home. The hotel’s design is both stylish and cozy, with a perfect blend of modern amenities and unique touches that give it a distinctive character.

The attention to detail and personalized service truly set Shut Eyes apart from other hotels. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable boutique experience. I’ll definitely be back for another stay!
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zaafir (6/5): It was okay for a short stay - It had a TV with yt on it and provided towels which was appreciated. The mini fridge was also nice although having some complementary water would have been appreciated. Finding the location was a bit confusing as it was just a white door on the side of a street and you would have to call the owner to get let in which wasn't mentioned when booking. The room could have been cleaned better, especially the bathroom, which had a lot of limescale. The sheets had marks on them and the room was pretty hot at night which makes sense as it was summer but shows that the room wasn't ventilated properly.
- Isra (10/5): Owners are great, honest people! - It was clean and easy to access! For a last minute booking this was ideal and it’s close to stations, bus routes as well as walking distance to many shops. Nothing to say! Great all around.
- Jordan (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (10/5): - Very amenable staff and clean rooms
- Stephen (6/5): Basic but fine - Very basic hotel. We only needed a bed for the night after a gig.
Staff were friendly.
Was confusing to get to, was supposed to get an email explaining to go into a thai resturant which i did not.
A lot of different codes for different doors, which we had a take a photo of on someones phone.
The room itself was very basic. Tea and a kettle was provided, but no coffee. Only one hand and bath towel for a double room. The tv was a smart tv which was nice but unfortunately there was no remote so was unable to use.
Not the cleanest room but not the worst. Skirting boards were dusty, splashes of paint of ths wooden floors, plus socket was wonkey and the extractor fan in the bathroom was hanging off. There was an actual bottle of shampoo which was quite nice.
Bed was comfy enough, walls were thin but actually wasnt too loud at all throughout the night.
As a whole it feels like the hotel wants to be this very "boutiquey" hotel with colourful wallpaper and cushioned headboards and its not quite worked.
For the money, and fact we only needed a bed for the night it was fine. But i dont think we'd go back
- Chaz (10/5): - The one slight downside was the comms surrounding the entry because it wasn’t clear that you had to go into the restaurant around the corner for access at first and I didn’t receive an email as was stated in the check in instructions.
As for the room itself, no complaints. For the price we weren’t expecting the Earth but the room was clean, the bed was comfy and the bathroom facilities were decent. There was the green security light as I’d seen in a couple of other review but it didn’t bother us. All in all not a bad little stay at all.
- Holly (8/5): Very good -
- Rebbecca (5/5): Good location in Hackney, no frills stay! - Location for festival at Victoria park was great about a 15 min walk from the park, on the main Hackney Road, located near to the shops, close to the Colombia flower market and Brick Lane/Shoreditch also a short walk away. perfect for our stay as we were only there to sleep, not a glamorous place but good enough for a one night stay if you don't want to spend a lot of time in the room. Also the place felt very secure 3 modern touch keypads to get through to get into the room. There was a large rotating fan in the room which was very much needed, it was rather expensive for what it was but also was a festival location on a saturday so was as expected, no frills stay. There was body wash in the bathroom. Can't speak for all of the rooms, but duvet under the sheet had big stains on, the bed was far away from the headboard and quite an old uncomfy mattress. Toilet is so close to the wall you have to sit on it sideways, could hear the peoples convos next door if you were in the bathroom. One towel provided per room. Check in process was slightly odd, booking.com says to message the property for keypad instructions, messaged and told to go to Thai Spice which is the restaurant below, arrived at the restaurant which was open at around 2PM, was told check in wasn't until 4PM which it does state, however, we had one small backpack to drop off and it did say that we could check in early for a tenner which they allowed us to do after I brought it up and the the room was already ready. To note check out is at 11 I assumed it was 12 and they did come up to get us out at 11 which is obviously fair :)
- Thomas (1/5): Bed bugs -
- Katie (7/5): Good - It was fairly clean and comfy and was nice and warm. Nice shower too with hot water. Staff were very friendly. It was really hard to find the place. No signs up. Felt a bit unsafe at first cause didn’t know if it was the right place or not.
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Strugariu (9/5): Superb -
- Stavroula (5/5): Good value for money. - Location Small beds and no small towels
- Sujal (9/5): Superb -
- Analuz (9/5): Superb -
- Harshan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ellie (8/5): Very good - The staff are friendly and helpful. To be clear, this isn’t your typical ‘hotel’. They are simply rooms above a restaurant, however, you get what you pay for & considering this is based in a good location, it is very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a place to stay which includes more of a ‘hotel’ vibe then this isn’t the place for you. If you just want a place to sleep and store your things while you are out and about then this is the place for you. The only issue for us is that the shower wasn’t great, you couldn’t get the temperature right, it was quite hot but other than that, you can’t really complain!
- Joel (2/5): Very poor -
- Kamran (9/5): Nice - Location and price were nice.
- Randy (4/5): Disappointing -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellen (6/5): You get what you pay - You get what you pay. The shower would give you either boiling hot or cold water. The room couldn’t be more basic. But you can’t find anything in London for £100, so as budget friendly is an option. Just don’t expect much comfort
- Vinicius (8/5): Very good -
- Chendrik (10/5): Till next time! - Was here with friends. We had a great time.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - This apartment is nice, clean and functional! There is no plates, forks, spoons and knife.
- Nicholas (4/5): - Honestly, this place is not a hotel. It's a hostel or B&B without the breakfast. From the lack of reception (admittedly highlighted in an email, but not noted anywhere by the side street entrance) to the dodgy decor, broken bannisters, odd smells, scuffed divans, limescale covered shower and taps, and general poor standards of everything, I'm embarrassed i booked this place for an overnight stay with my son whilst seeing a gig. Avoid at all costs. Complete amateur hour.
- Mervyn (10/5): - Simple and great location
- Maria (5/5): Fine for a quick stay, in and out, just to sleep in for 1 evening. - Location, smooth check-in/out Not as clean or well-maintained as expected.
