Guest Reviews
- Luce (10/5): Je recommande !
- Park (7/5): -
- Shanhong (10/5): Loved my unique stay in Bangkok - Was quite an experience, sleeping on an old-timer boat right on the river at the heart of Bangkok ❤️ Roger the host is very friendly and accommodating. I had a great time.
- Bharara (9/5): - View on the terrace
- Christopher (10/5): - Great location. Comfortable room. Roger was a welcoming host who helped us plan trips. Nothing, everything was perfect
- Axel (10/5): -
- Carina (10/5): Gerne wieder.
- Stephen (10/5): Been here before, stayed this time…. Will be back for sure - Always a great stay. Central location and great spot next to the imperial palace N/A
- Anthony (8/5): - Emplacement exceptionnel
- gael (10/5): Amazing experience - Amazing expérience. Nothing
- Zach (9/5): - The location is unreal.
- Willy Evers (10/5): Auf dem Chao Phraya mitten in Bangkok!
- Lisa (10/5): Fantastic experience definitely recommend 👍 - A lovely location love the experience I had a fantastic relaxing time on the boat made to feel very welcome love the sun set 👍 Everything was exactly as I expected boat life love it 👍
- Sergei (9/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): 10 days of Bangkok heaven - The location can’t be beat! Really the only place on this side of the river that is close to The Grand Palace and so many Wats.
Loved the variety of seating areas to sit and relax. We spent the day out sightseeing and would return in the evening to sit on the 2nd deck in the lounge/living room area. You can watch the dinner boats go by and enjoy the views. Sunset is especially beautiful.
Staff is very friendly and helpful!
Use of fridge and options to cook, which we only used the fridge for leftovers as we ate out during our stay.
State room with the bathroom was nice. Small but that is to be expected on a boat. This is more of an FYI for those unfamiliar with staying on a boat than a negative.
The river is a working busy river between 6am and 7pm. The ferry terminals are on either side of the boat, so there is a lot of movement during the day. Evening and night time is calm.
- AK (9/5): Great location, small room, unique experience - The location was excellent for walking to major attractions and great food. It was fun to sit on board and watch the action on the river. Room and en suite are tiny (but it is a boat, not a hotel). We had to leave luggage outside the room to sleep, but it was fine in the end.
- Arnd (9/5): -
- SHIH YU (8/5): -
- Breanna (10/5): We enjoyed ourselves and would stay again. - Loved the location, right on the river. We enjoyed relaxing on the roof and watching all of the activity on the river. Good location to get to all the amenities we wanted to see. Very friendly service, accommodating an early arrival and giving advice on sights to see. It was a unique experience sleeping on a boat.
- Axel (10/5): -
- boris (10/5): -
- Julieta (10/5): Incredible experience - The calmness in the chaos of Bangkok. The views. The staff -
- Marcel (10/5): Alles super danke!!! - Super Unterkunft!!
Roger is fantatische gastheer. Letterlijk alles aanwezig. Roger staat altijd klaar. Dat we terug moesten vertrekken.
- Genevieve Siriwan (9/5): - Perfect location and view. Nothing.
- Thomas (10/5): - Roger is a fantastic host with a wonderful boat, and a stay onboard is a must-do experience in Bangkok. I had a fantastic sleep with the light waves rocking me to sleep, and my morning was spent on the garden terrace at the top of the boat watching the sun rise. If you're a very light sleeper you may be woken by the early morning boats, but this was not a problem for me.
- Iris (10/5): -
- Manuel (10/5): Absolut einzigartig in BKK! Toller Gastgeber mit coolen Tipps! - Super Lage!
- Mark (9/5): Great experience on the river - Amazing experience on a boat on the river. Roger was very helpful and helped us out with what to do in and around Bangkok. The location is great, the gate through the market back to the boat closes at night so just go round the back to access the boat.
- daria (7/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): - Fantastic host, unique experience staying on a very homely boat, watching the hustle and bustle of the river from the many vantage points on board
- Jose Colom (10/5): Epic home away from home. - Listen. I’ve stayed on boatels in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Skopje, Bratislava, Porto etc Boatels with restaurants, bars etc. Old Vintage 1912 boats etc. Viking ships over night from Stockholm to Turku.
Roger’s hospitality is second to none. Even the overrated overnight ferries I stayed in through the South of Italy through Greece and Croatia. Ferries from Morroco to Spain. It’s great to finally meet someone passionate about the boating culture in hospitality that knows about the world. He’ll make expats feel welcomed if they need tips on how to acclimate themselves to Thai Life. After 9pm just go through the back of the 7/11 through the markets when the Mahraj market closes. Other than that all good! Can’t beat the location!
- Christine (9/5): We had a great time in Bangkok using the Sabai Sabai as our base. It was really well positioned to explore the city and - A wonderful scenic quirky and unusual spot in the middle of a busy city. The boat is moored by one of the ferry piers so you can easily get water transport around to the main sights. It also has shops and restaurants convenient on the pier and a 7/11 close by. A short walk through the university campus puts you on a road with multiple cafes, restaurants and launderettes. Basically everything you need. The mooring pier is just behind the Royal Palace and in easy walking distance of the palace and Wat Pho.
The boat itself is a warm and welcoming home. The river rocks you to sleep. The views are great. The owner Roger is friendly, helpful and welcoming. There are various communal comfortable seating areas. The cabins are small but adequate. This is more of an experience than a hotel.
Roger also has a boat which he takes up to Ayutthaya and back which is great way to travel to, or from, Bangkok. We enjoyed our stay here a lot but if you have a lot of luggage it may not be the right place for you. This is a boat and the rooms are cabins and, of necessity, a bit cramped. In my opinion this reservation is more than compensated by the other unique features, it depends what you are looking for.
- Carly (10/5): Unforgettable experience - The entire experience was stellar! The boat was amazing. The owner was a very nice man, living his best life. I can’t wait to come back with friends! I saw in the reviews the boat rocking was issue, not at all for me, I slept wonderfully. That I didn’t stay longer!
- Katekanda (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, friendly owner , good for relax
- Ole (10/5): Gr8 experience - outstanding location on the river nearby the kings palace and most helpful and friendly staff.
- Anakod (10/5): Exceptional - An incredible place that is definitely worth a visit
- Lynn (4/5): Unfortunately it didn’t work out for me as I got quite seasick. Otherwise the boat looked quite cute, had an upstairs de - Location. The room was a little smaller than expected (it is literally the size of the bed). There are also many boats passing by and causing the houseboat to rock back and forth throughout the day and evening.
- Gulmira (10/5): Великолепно - We stayed with Roger, he is a hospitable host, you feel at home on his boat. The accommodation was very comfortable. Morning coffee with a view of the river is just great. Roger helped with everything, his advice was very helpful. I recommend everyone to stay with him. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
- Kai (10/5): Exceptional - Great Experience being on a boat, the rooms are cozy and even have an AC! Host is nice and helpful. Nothing it was awesome
- Anssi (8/5): Unique and rare accommodatio - This is a unique in location, who could think really having accommodation on Chayo Phraya river, 600 meters from the Grand Palece!! Lots of traffic on the river from early morning, and the wawes accordingly
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clive (9/5): Fantastic - Superb location, close to Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha, Golden Buddha, and a ferry / riverboat station which gives you access to everywhere I love boats, but this maybe not for everyone
- Giordana (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming - The view, the interiors, the stuff, the doggo! Just during the day is very difficult to stay because many boats pass around and move the liveboard boat a lot, making me a bit nauseous, but in the night it calms down.
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rick (9/5): Unique Bangkok experience from the water - Love this boat, it has a unique atmosphere and Rogers excitement about Bangkok and Thailand is great. Also great is the roof terrace! The boat was located very centrally and this made it easy to get around Bangkok. Roger made us a great coffee in the morning. The rooms were a bit smaller than I imagined before but all was good. There is a lot of space in the boat in general.
- Michelle (9/5): Rocked to sleep on the Chao Praya - The location on the river is just amazing, just a 10 min walk to the Grand Palace, one minute walk to the pier to get the local ferry across the river for just 4.5 Bhat!
Access to the boat is through one of the many alleyways full of market stalls, very authentic. Be warned that at night most of them are closed, there's just one that's open for access to the boat dock.
Love the community feeling on board, chatting with fellow travellers over coffee in the morning or a beer up on the top deck in the evening. Very special.
Thank you Roger for a great few days, I'd definitely recommend this boat to anyone who wants an alternative type of accommodation. The bed is very hard, I'm just not used to such a hard mattress.
Bring your mosquito spray because of course being on the water there's mosquitoes around.
- Paul (7/5): Unique and value for money unless you need good bathroom facilities. - Quite an unique experience and very nice to see all the action coming up and down the river. It was nice to be able to chat with the owner in English, who gave a lot of good advice and pointers. Very small shared toilet and shower with no hot water on a lower level of the boat. It was a bit of a battle to find the boat at night on arrival as some access routes/alleys were closed in the evening. It was a bit smelly with petrol fumes, but that is expected with the traffic.
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - All of it Nothing
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barzdziuviene (7/5): Interesting experience - but not for everyone 😜 - Interesting 😝 Not very clean 😂
- Wojciech (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kayankit (9/5): An experience worthy of your time. - If you're looking for a unique stay in Bangkok, you'll find it right here.
This is more of an experience, than just a simple lodging & the communal atmosphere the ship lends is really ideal for the solo traveler out to make friends along the way.
You'll be lodging on a live-aboard, moored on the Chao Phraya River just south of the Temple of Dawn, with easy access to multiple piers for quick & easy navigation by water taxi to many points points of interest around the huge Capital of Thailand.
Capt. Roger is certainly a character & his lovely assistant are both delightful hosts.
Although the days can get busy & you'll need your sea-legs, at night, the gentle rocking lends a sense of calming peace.
I have no idea what time I drifted off to sleep after a delightful evening of conversation with the host and other guests, but I woke up completely refreshed & ready for the day ahead.
I do highly recommend a stay aboard this soul rejuvenating vessel.
- Necib (10/5): more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience! - I recently stayed at a unique boat hotel in Bangkok, and it was fantastic! The facilities were cozy and well-equipped, and the location on the Chao Phraya River was perfect—close to attractions but still peaceful. The views from the deck were amazing, and Roger, the owner, was incredibly friendly and hospitable. This boat hotel is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Bangkok!
- Carlena (10/5): Unique and unforgettable experience - Great location right on the river and walking distance to shops, restaurants, and Grand Palace.
The hosts were pleasant and welcoming and made for a very comfortable and relaxing stay.
Very unique way to live for a few days, highly recommend to anyone wanting a stay that's outside the box. That we had to leave
- Hugo (9/5): Superb - Amazing location, river can be noisy and hectic but actually is pretty quiet at night and allows for some great sleep.
Super helpful owner too! Rooms and bathrooms are cramped, but that comes with being on a boat!
- Ghezzar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rudolf (9/5): absolutely great - a real experience, something exceptional, prrfect location and a great host somehow tricky to find it in the night
- Crispin (10/5): Exceptional - Decency and integrity of crew They're being squeezed a bit by the powers that be. Give them some good energy.
- Caleb (10/5): Magical houseboat in incredible location - Magical way to experience Bangkok. Roger's home is an unforgettable stay. Unique and in such an amazing location, this is a far better choice than the standard hotel booking. We will be back every time we pass through Bkk.
- Markjp (10/5): Creative and blissful - Very aesthetic place, lots of spots to take photos.
Very creative and Roger is amazing. I love the waves too as it feels like being lulled to sleep. Walking to the place is quite difficult if you have luggages, as you need to walk through a small walkway to reach.
- Noemi (6/5): Everything good except the toilet facilities - Our host was fantastic, we had a good idea of what we wanted to visit but he also helped us with extra recommendations. Was VERY accommodating with the check in time and super nice and pleasant all the time. The bed is comfortable too. The listing and booking was for a "private bathroom" but I was welcomed instead with two shared spaces: one with a toilet and a sink and another small one with a shower, a little sink and a "too close to comfort" urinal on it (the whole room smelled undeniably of urine). Despite everything else being good, this detail would have deter us from booking this accommodation.
- David (9/5): Expeience must when visiting Bangkok - Location was fantasic ,many good options within walking distance, view on river at night fantastic ,host was extremly friendly and assisted with all request and local attractions. A little discomfort for my daughters with boat movement but was worth the experience.
- Julie (10/5): Loved our stay on the sabai sabai ! - Loved being on the water. Very quirky but comfortable and relaxed. Good location for grand palace and ferries. Nothing really. If I was pushed,it would have been good to have a pot of coffee on the go in the morning.
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Boat was awesome and Roger was an awesome host too!
- Craig (8/5): memorable experience - staying on a houseboat in the center of Bangkok was a novel experience. we meet the other guests and shared some beers. it was a fun night. it’s a boat so everything is a bit tight but still good.
- Sam (9/5): Great, quirky stay - Great recommendations from the owner on site seeing. 5 mins from Grand Palace and boats on the river
- Carolien (10/5): Best spot in Bangkok! - Great experience to stay on a house boat, so close to the Grand Palace and major temples. After visiting the sites, you just relax in the hammock, watching the boats passing by and listening to the music. Roger was very knowledgeable and helpful with transport to Ayutthaya, which was another awesome experience. Nothing really, just remember it's a house boat, so it's not huge, but very charming
- Rajiv (6/5): Pleasant -
- Preeda (10/5): Exquisite Experience on the Chao Phraya River - We are long term expats living in Thailand
. We booked this to have a unique perspective and experience in Bangkok. We enjoyed seeing life on the Chao Phraya river. The Longtail boats, the barges, the little houses on stilts.
This is very unique! Possibly the only houseboat offering accommodation and certainly one of the very few houseboats in Bangkok.
Interesting area to explore. The Amulet Market.
Nearby the Palace. Restaurants are nearby. All in walking distance.
We will recommend to our friends.
- Eliza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Really good location, friendly captain (Roger) also really enjoyed the evenings, peacefully bobbing up and down on the river with a book There wasn't any dislikes really, I knew what to expect with staying on a boat
- Yaeko (9/5): Superb - Everything! Room, rooftop, dining, shower room & so on. So cozy & cool. nothing
- Robyn (9/5): Lovely river stay - It was really nice to have a different experience in Bangkok. Being on the river was a great outdoors treat. Comfortable beds and a hammock and some special deck areas made it great for relaxing too.
- Jojo (10/5): Unbeatable experience - Amazing host immaculate vibes
- Eunjin (10/5): Amazing place in bangkok - All of the places are nice. Nice haemuk, rooftop, terrace, and all things Size of showerroom? But it's not at all
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sebastian (10/5): Perfect stay in Bangkok - Living on a boat on the Chao Phraya in the center of Bangkok is a perfecr experience. During the day you can see all the business happening on the water. In the evening, you can feel the cool breeze on the river and at night you can see a completely calm river with no traffic at all!
And you are located in the old town just behind the palace.
The owner Roger is very nice and helpful!
- Mariana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): House boat in Bangkok - Fabulous fabulous fabulous.
On a house boat in the heart of Bangkok!!..
5 mins walk to grand palace and right next to the ferry boats.
Relax and watch river life go by!!

Will definitely stay again when visiting Bangkokx
- Bink_kos (10/5): Highly recommended for a memorable stay in Bangkok - The boat hotel in Bangkok exceeded all expectations! The unique experience of staying on the water was unforgettable. Roger, the host, was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home from the moment we stepped aboard. The room was cozy and nice.
