Guest Reviews
- Klaudia (8/5): - Unique experiance of boat life! Good comunication with owner and great price for accomodation in Amsterdam, especially giving the location close to metro station. Small bathroom for taller people and small size of bathroom towels (I recomend to take your own).
- solution de logement originale avec des enfants.
- Jessica (9/5): -
- CV (9/5): Coolest boat stay to beat the hostel crowd :) - The host was really nice and even gave us some beers to start off our stay real chill. The wifi was a bit restricted, but that is understandable since we weren't on land.
- Agnieszka (10/5): - the boat was amazing.. great experience ..kids love it ..location was really good ..
- Henry (10/5): Highly recommend. - Cosy and surprisingly spacious, really enjoyable. Would stay again. N/A
- Gert (8/5): -
- David (10/5): Perfect for my needs! - Everything! Cosy, private, convenient. Close to good public transport. Good communication with owner. Could not have asked for more. Nothing.
- Adi (9/5): -
- Karolina (10/5): Nice stay in Amsterdam in different way. - Clean, authentic boat. Experience of life in a boat. Nice welcome package:) If You want You can rent bikes or boat to go round the canals directly. Area is safe, close to the park where You can have very nice walk. Centre can be reached by metro or taxi. It's not a minus. For us is a plus, but for others life in boat can be complicated:) To get in, get out, not so spacy bathroom and etc.
- Arja (10/5): - Hieno uusi kokemus meille yöpyä laivassa.

- Kevin (8/5): Very good - A very unique experience to stay in a boat! It was very convenient to the metro and free parking at the marina. The kids loved the experience.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the Amstelle. It was a pleasure to come back to it after a long day's sightseeing.
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had all we needed and the extra touches such as games and a welcome pack made our stay more special.
The location was perfect. Close to the Metro which quickly took us into Amsterdam.
Gros was an excellent host, quick to communicate and very helpful.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend the Amstelle.
- Punit (7/5): Good - Overall comfortable boat and well kitted out with self-catering facilities and provision of towels etc. Greeted by host representative and communicated with by host in advance to ensure our arrival and settling in went smoothly. Bed linen felt slightly damp on first night, we noted condensation on inside of windows throughout the stay so think this may be cause of damp. Surrounding area around boat could do with some maintenance - there were overgrowing weeds and it felt a little derelict.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Great quiet location. Gros was very helpful and informative when we arrived. Boat was bigger than expected, and was more than comfortable for four adults. We would definitely stay here again
- Josephine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Petr (8/5): Very good - The location was great for bike and SUP trips around. Host was great. Great local experience, we have enjoyed our stay. There are problems with opening windows and not all windows are equipped with mosquito net, which make some mosquito evening visits inevitable. Overall, the boat is little bit dated
- James (7/5): A fun venue, but some women might find it too rustic - Gros is a great host. The boat is very nice, especially the kitchen and main area. It has a cozy feel to it. The setting is attractive. Gros had left out a bottle of wine and some treats. If you like a bit of adventure and don't mind sacrificing some amenities, this is a fun place to stay. My wife, on the other hand, didn't like the accommodations. Gentlemen, make sure your wives read the reviews before booking. What she didn't like. Toilet paper is not allowed in the toilet, and has to be placed in a separate nearby can. There isn't a separate shower, but rather the bathroom is the shower. This means that items need to be taken out of the bathroom for a shower, and the floor will be wet afterwards. And, we were there when it was rather cold (for us) and raining a lot. There are 3 heaters, but they have limited output. Fine for me, not for my wife. We were told not to drink the water from the faucet (OK for coffee and tea) - something to keep in mind. The grocery store is a little far for a walk, but would be great if you had a bike. Getting in and out and off the boat was more challenging in the rain. It would have been fine in good weather.
- Johannes (10/5): Splendid stay on cosy boat - Loved the cosy boat atmosphere and nice living area. Great with kitchen to cook own food and very nice sitting on deck at sunset. A bit crammed bathroom/shower but it was kind of expected for a boat.
- Brittney (5/5): Was an experience, but wouldn’t book again. - The boat was in clean condition on the inside. The beds were comfortable. There was a small kitchenette. The owner was helpful in providing us an explanation of the boat upon arrival. Hardly any of the lights inside of the boat worked, the WiFi was shared between 4 boats and it was down every night but one of our stay. The boat had water dripping from above inside the living room area constantly. The bathroom was very difficult to use to shower. The water tank ran out of water the second day we were there, so we had to wait 18 + hours to get it refilled. The boat was in an uninviting dingy area, that wasn’t next to anything.
- Bettina (10/5): Great host, great special experience, clean, calm, and close to good public transport. - it was a special experience to sleep on a boat. The whole family enjoyed this. The metro station is close-by, easy to get to the central station. only teflon pots available for cooking. Since toilet excrements are just released into the small harbour, only normal soap detergents should be used and not stronger chemicals damiging the enviroment.
- Francisco (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (9/5): Very very special experience with an awesome host! - Absolutely Stunning boat, super peaceful, very comfortable and lots of extra goodies supplied to make it a special experience. We had bad weather during our stay so couldnt quite enjoy the outside but this would have added to the happiness! not that we didnt like it just for tall people to be reminded that it is a boat and the bathroom is a little tight!
- Barry (10/5): GYMNAESTRADA TRIP - Location was extremely well placed for our reason of Gymnaestrada for our trip.
Boat was compact but spacious enough to move about and not be on top of each other. Also during the windy rainy weather there was very little movement of the boat which was good. N/A
- Oanh (9/5): Very interesting place, would be fun for the kids to try out a night on yacht. With excellent and very hospitality host. - My kids were in love with this place where they can be the captain and drive the boat. The experience was memorable for them.
Gros is a great host, very thoughtful and supportive with great hospitality. He gave many helpful recommendation and advise on train route, place to visit etc. and also very accommodating. Would feel a little small space if you used to live in big space room. The bathroom is small and not so comfortable compared to normal house, but this is of course part of the experience as you live on boat.
- Sophia (8/5): Lovely location and an enjoyable experience - The boat is located a short Metro ride from Central
Overall the boat is well-equipped
Shopping is a short Metro ride away
Taxis are reliable and reasonably priced
Lovely quiet location
We didn't have a car, but parking would be easy
Wine, coffee and cheese straws gifted by owner upon arrival Some of the power was not working, but we were able to use alternative sockets
We could not find the hairdryer
Take-aways are available but allow plenty of time, ours took 2.5 hours
Only two full-sized towels were supplied for four people
- Caro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catriona (9/5): Superb - This is a lovely little boat which has a great atmosphere, near the large park in south Amsterdam. The host was very friendly and helpful and was always available if you wanted to ask questions The bathroom facilities were basic but this is because it is on a boat
- Grace (9/5): Superb - The host was moat welcoming and thoughtful with the boat set up with warmth and delicious Dutch snacks and drinks.
- Sophie (8/5): Very good - Quirky place. Lovely to wake up on the water. Gros was very friendly and welcoming too.
- Huipeng (8/5): Very good -
