• Ivan (8/5): Aufenthalt Salzburger Hammerschmiede - Die Lage ist sehr ruhig. Die Besichtigung der Seminarräume war wichtig und zeigt Potential. Frühstück war sehr gut! Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist etwas zu hoch.

• Una (4/5): Disappointing - The owner The owner was very accommodating, especially as I was so disappointed with the hotel and accepted my change of booking to one night and not 3. The reason for wanting to change is the hotel is not how it is portrayed on booking.com. Very isolated outside run down there were only 2 other guests in the hotel. When I was looking to book I looked for hotels that had food available however here you do need to ask when arriving if you wish to have dinner and choice and timings limited. Breakfast was again limited in choice, I still want to thank the owner for her kindness.

• Tanya (8/5): Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt in einem historisch sehr interessantem Gebäude. - Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, alles bio und ansprechend präsentiert! Die Lüftung im Haus war nicht so überragend und der Küchenduft war morgens und abends leider sehr präsent.

• Katja (8/5): - Sehr ruhig gelegenes Hotel, somit kann man sehr gut schlafen. Wir wurden freundlich und zuvorkommend empfangen, das Zimmer war sauber, geräumig und insgesamt gemütlich. Beim Frühstück gab es für ein Wochenende genug Auswahl. Der Saunabereich war gut und man konnte sich schön entspannen. Insgesamt ist die Ausstattung schon etwas in die Tage gekommen. Ein paar moderne Akzente würden sicherlich gut tun.

• Ian (7/5): Good - A very quiet location and a beautiful traditional building. A very kind elderly lady running the place There's no restaurant for dinner, which is difficult for cycle tourists. The first night the lady specially cooked a meal just for us and the second we bought food from the supermarket. There were no other guests on either night, which feels a bit odd and lonely.

• Alex (10/5): Amazing place to stay in the Salzburg area - I stayed at Hotel Hammerschmiede twice, when I was arriving in and leaving Salzburg. It's a very peaceful location only 15-20 mins driving away from the city center, but it feels like you are deep in the forest. The staff and the owner are very friendly and helpful and we had a great conversation in the evening of my first night. The buildings are on the site of an old toolsmith forge and there are many cool artifacts from hundreds of years ago within the grounds. The dinner menu is limited to 3 or 4 entrees but they are very good. The courtyard is a nice place to spend the evening with a glass of wine. The breakfast is a full spread of organic bread, jam, cheeses, etc. Everything exceeded expectations
• Vilmos (9/5): It is an excellent place for either relaxation or an active holiday. - The hotel is in a very nice location, the rooms are equipped with modern equipment and furniture, but the common areas (e.g. the restaurant or the breakfast room) have retained their traditional character with the old furniture. The breakfast is like an average breakfast buffet. There was enough of everything, if something was emptied it was immediately replaced. The room was cleaned every day, towels were changed even though we did not ask for a daily change. The lady who owns the hotel is extremely kind, helpful, polite, and did everything for the guests. The accommodation is easily available, it is in a forest, but it is signposted all the way, so you can't get lost. Parking is free in front of the hotel, there is plenty of space. There really isn't anything negative that I didn't like. Perhaps just a small remark: on the website, the restaurant suggests much more than it actually gives. I had no problem with the food, everything we ate was delicious (we had dinner there three times), but based on what was written on the website, I expected more choice at dinner. But I am not writing this as a negative review, rather I recommend reviewing the website.

• (⁠ (10/5): Exceptional - Idyllic and beautiful. The night was so calm, and the air so fresh. I wished we stayed longer. Breakfast was gorgeous. The entire place was really wonderful. It looks even better than the pictures, and for an old house like that I was amazed how clean it felt, and how tidy it was! A dream spot, right in the forest. No curtain in the bathroom, probably because there was nothing but trees in that direction, but I felt insecure about it, so I jammed a towel into the kippfenster during my shower.

Lovely breakfasts and I am gluten free so gluten free bread rolls were provided . Not a criticism but it is in the countryside about 1 1/2 mile walk to nearest rail station. However Frau Stadler very kindly offered us a lift if we needed this .

• Colin (10/5): Exceptional - We drove around Europe, and were booking accommodation on a day by day basis, no plans, just did what we felt like on the day, with the exception of Salzburg as it was on my must visit list. I always searched for rural/quiet locations and this was perfect. It is a 170 year old house, free range chickens (that you will be sure to meet) lay the eggs for breakfast. The location is perfect if you like peace and quiet, it is in the middle of it's private woodland. The rooms were really big, as was the lovely chocolate left by the bed of an evening. The staff, of which it was just the one lovely lady on the day we arrived, were so friendly and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. There was no need to look see if there were restaurants nearby because the food at the hotel was amazing. The breakfasts were delicious too. We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up staying for three nights, and I would definitely go back if I am near Salzburg again. There is a railway station that is a 20 minute walk away, and the trains were very regular into the city. Get a Salzburg card if you go (the hotel can sell you one) because it gives you free transport (including the train) and entrance into various sites in the city, plus discounts off many other things too.

• Nilesh (10/5): I would definitely recommend this hotel for any family to stay for holidays - The hotel is in lap of nature and yet only 10 Kms from Salzburg city Its very difficult to think to check what i did not like.
• Martin (9/5): Superb - This was in the forest. There is a forest amongst the farms and this hotel was nestled ever so wonderfully amongst the trees. A small stream babbles by and the narrow road leading to the parking area allows only one car to pass by at a time. The lady of the house along with the chef made a special meal for me when they learned i hadnt eaten all day. There was a large dinner party the night i arrived and they prepared an amazing meal along with desert. The first course was beef broth soup with pancake strips which is an all time favorite for me. Hard to find in the u.s. that could have been enough but the main course and regional desert followed. Masterfully prepared and enjoyed. I walked to my car which was parked on the side of the road because of the large dinner party. Bathed in darkness and moonlight i found my self surrounded by fire flies or were they fairies. Where was tinkerbell? In an Austrian forest? Anaheim? Orlando? May never now. As i peered thru the trees it seemed they were every way. Little lights flying around. The lady of the house treated.me so well i presented here with a bottle of cherry schnapps i picked up in Halstatt when i departed. An large indian family arrived my last night. I struck up a conversation and friendship with one of the family members. Turns out we are in a similiar business and have similiar business acquantences. He invited me to join his family as they prepared there own Indian food. What a nice guy. There are some hotel stays and there are soms hotel experiences. This couldn't be more memorable. The bathroom was two rooms. One for the toilet and the other with tub and shower. Each had a sink. Balcony was great. Watching the free range chickens being chickens. P.s. I'm writing this from a cool bat in St. Moritz Switerland. A rainy night, warm room. The lights are low sitiing with a bunch of Italians listening to 80s pop music on the tv The search for miss Right continues.... Nothing
• Chuck (10/5): Wooded Paradise 20min train Salzburg center - Ernestina and her staff made our 2 night stay so pleasant! Our kids loved the forest atmosphere and comfy rooms. They kept the kitchen open for us when we arrived a bit late. Excellent trout and schnitzel. Hiked the trails. Easy train ride 20min to Salzburg Centre. Perfect for families with hiking trails too
