Guest Reviews
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jimmy (4/5): Disappointing -
- Duong (6/5): Pleasant -
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely host, clean and spacious room. All you need :)
- Guy (1/5): Disaster - Location was fine. They transfered us from the place that we booked to another unfamiliar place.
They charged from us more money than what was agreed.
The air condition did not work.
There were mosquitoes.
There were not towels.
The building door was stuck.
The bathroom's doorb was broken.
The owner did not help us with any of it.
- Krzysztof (9/5): Superb - Good value to payed 😄
- Alexandru (3/5): Not value for money - The host is very friendly and the location is good, right in the Old Quarter.. Is nothing like in pictures or description. The bathroom is not in the room and is not private.
I had three nights booked and i left after the first night.
- Jiří (5/5): Passable -
- Eleonora (8/5): Perfect location and great host! - The host is a lovely and smiley lady! Communication was great, and even though I arrived in Hanoi around 2am, she was available and happy to help. The accomodation is tight in the centre, perfect location for food and sightseeing. The room was spacious and had everything one might need, including coffee and tea facilities and toothbrush and toothpaste. The place was a bit old and dirty. There was a cockroach at the entrance (not in the accomodation, but in the paved alley leading to it).
- Sathish (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (3/5): Poor - We really appreciated the location of the homestay, as well as the hot water, and the room which was pretty clean. The fact that the owner provides water to the clients is also a nice plus ! The alley we had to come across to find it was kind of gross and smelled really bad..
We were in contact with the lady during all day long on the day of our arrival, but she waited us to arrive to tell us that the room we booked wasn't available, and that she "upgraded" us with a bigger room, but we had to pay more in order to get it.
- Romeo (10/5): Exceptional - The landlord is really nice and helpful you can talk with her in English on WhatsApp whenever needed.
- Souvik (3/5): Poor - Room was big, good and well equiped. Hotel name not visible outside. Impossible to locate. The entrance, staircase is horrible. Even entrance get blocked by bikes at night. No stuff at night - zero security. Owner only come for check in and payment collection.
Worst property I ever booked on Booking.Com
- Nikolai (9/5): Very nice - The friendly hostess is always in touch and happy to help you. I lived there for about a week. The impressions are positive.
- Shyam (5/5): Passable -
- Fridiani (7/5): Cheap room in Hanoi - It's actually good with a very kind and helpful host The room is on the third floor with stairs and to go inside you need to pass the food stall and its kitchen to get the stairs up
- Tomer (1/5): Bad - Nothing, don't reserve a night there. The entrance is after walking through an alley, which was horrible and inside a family's kitchen
- Zak (7/5): Good - Location. Good sized room. You have to walk through a rat infested lobby to get in the building. We had to walk through a flooded lobby because the drain had burst.
- Amy (7/5): Nice rooms at a good price - Fantastic host, super helpful with collecting us from the street, changing room, washing clothes. You have to walk down a dirty ally way to get to the hotel which feels very unhygienic
- Sterre (8/5): Value for money and super nice place! - Very good bed, good WiFi and refrigerator in the room. Very nice and helpful hostess. The location was perfect! Value for money! The communal alley you have to go through before you get to the room smells really bad and there are a lot of rats.
- Julia (1/5): One hour before we arrived we got a message saying the room was not available anymore and we were sent somewhere else. W -
- Raselma (8/5): Very good -
- Isa (5/5): Passable - Owner is great The biggest problem to me is: To go to the room, you must go trough small, dirty, smelly alley. Which is traumatic for me.
The rental, is a room and a bathroom, in an apartment. The room and bathroom is not connected. To go to the bathroom, Gotta go out of the bedroom and walk in a sharing area of apartment. People will walk in the apartment to go in and out the upper floor of the building, or to grab stuff from fridge. The owner not speak good english, so during check in i didnt bother to ask questions. I tought i got the whole place (bedroom, dining area, toilet etc) for me only. But while napping, i keep
The bedroom made of… not a real wall. Its like a plastic partition.
The bed is a sofa foam with sofa cover. So for me, its questioned wether they change the cover every guest change.
We end up stay somewhere else
- Erik (7/5): Good -
- Gumucio (5/5): You have to overcome the first depressing impression of the street and aisle - It is not easy to talk about this property. The owner is making a great effort to keep everything very clean and tidy, she has invested a lot and she is helpful in many ways. Whatever you need, she will do it for you: a taxi, change dollars,
or take your clothes for washing. She is a nice person. She doesn't speak a word of English but we communicated using the cellphone translation. The place from the outside is horrible. There is no sign, it is hard to find, and you have to enter through the long corridor of a street restaurant which is depressing (however old Hanoi is full of these corridors and street restaurants). Once you enter the door of Melody Home on the second floor of a back stair, things change: everything is tidy, well-illuminated, and comfortable. Each floor is a room with its own bathroom (although located outside the room). It is difficult to overcome the first impression of the aisle that leads to Melody Home.
- Rojendro (9/5): Superb -
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional - A lot of the reviews complain about smells from outside, You are traveling to SE asia if street food smells are a problem your in the wrong country, the place is lovely and so is the owner. Great property unfairly reviewed imo
- Luong (8/5): Very good -
- Sindhura (1/5): Bad -
- Vo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorna (6/5): lovely lady clean accommodation once past the alleyway , but I would book for 1 night for the very authentic experience - the owner was so lovely and helpful. and doing the best she can . the situation of locating the property, very smelly ally way and very large rats that are eating the fresh food waiting to be used by a nearby eating place
- Bruno_001 (7/5): Good - Room and facilities are good Entrance from street is dirty and smell bad, otherwise it's good
- Trang (3/5): Small backpack is okay, not suitable for large bag. The bathroom is not in the room - Large room The entrance is a small watery alley, small stair
Required tip
- Leah (3/5): Nice room, terrible location - the room itself was nice although small, it was very clean in the room. also the owner was a nice lady you have to walk down a side alley which is has a kitchen access for a food place next door. at night there are a lot of rats and it has a poor smell which can make it’s way up to the room.
- Simone (1/5): Bad - Literally nothing. I received many messages from the hotel, asking when I would arrive, I found it nice at first, believing there was concern to welcome me when I arrived, as my bus from Ha Giang was very late. Later I understood that the reason was only to be sure that I would get the room, otherwise they would have rented it to someone else, this is the reason for the constant request of my arrival time and if I was sure to arrive. Arrived at the hotel, a young boy presents me with a completely different room from the one I booked. Also the bathroom is basics not existing. That is, the photos of the room on booking.com are completely different. Instead of 18 square meters I find a room the size of the bed or a little more. I would say about 8 square meters. The bathroom is outside the room, it's very ugly. Furthermore, my room is located in the middle of the main exit, so anyone who passes by, completely removing any privacy. I complain to the guy resent (by the way, a nice person who was nice and just took orders), and he calls the owner. She yells into the phone and a file tells him it's fine if I want to leave. It's late and I have to accept the room, but I ask for a discount since it's not what I booked, but much less. The owner doesn't accept any discount and she tells me I can leave. She tells me that they have to update the photos on booking, as if this solves my problem of having received a horrible room instead of the one booked, and having paid the same price anyway. I decide to stay because I have no alternatives being late. The room is above some sort of restaurant where all the noise is heard. In addition to the noise, there is a sickening stench throughout the room and one cannot breathe due to the horrible stench. At night I felt like I wanted to puke for the smell. There is no air conditioning nor a fan. I am woken up at 6:30 in the morning by noises from the kitchen below the room.
- Katrina (1/5): They sold our room even though we had a booking - They contacted me on the day that we were supposed to check in, I was in a remote area with no internet access so I didn’t reply to them immediately. Within a few hours of their first message they sold my room; this was before 2 pm! And their response to this situation was “bummer for you”. Really rude and unnecessary, so I would not recommend you book this room if you’re not willing to risk it being sold before you can check in.
- Charlene (7/5): Good -
- Karolina (7/5): good for backpacers withou high expectations - clean room, helpful lady, well organized, perfect location entrance between two PhO Street food in narrow smelly alay, kitchen backstage and rats
smell of the meat was the worst in room a little bit as well
- Momin (8/5): Very good - so kind host, good location, air conditional, cheap, hot water electricity, clean (blanket and pillow…), little high
- Kane (7/5): Good -
