• Stefanie (7/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The views from the rooftop and restaurant are stunning and we enjoyed drinking our mate up there. The WiFi was good in the common area, but not working too well in the room itself. Even though they advertise it as a “simple” accommodation, the room could do with some care. The floor was very dusty and the bathroom really worn down and in need of maintenance. The shower pressure was very low and both the sink and the toilet seat were broken. The room is right next to the road/driveway which makes it quite noisy whenever someone is parking there or passing by. Which also means not much privacy when the window shuts are open (which is necessary to get some daylight in.

Le petit déjeuner est délicieux, les hôtes sont vraiment très gentils, la chambre est très agréable 🥰 La ville n'est pas trés grande : à 10 minutes à pied du centre. La salle de bain qui est vétuste mérite un changement de bac 🫤

• Rachel (9/5): - The staff, the homemade breakfast, the terrace and the view were all exceptional. It was very good value - not luxurious but that wasn't what we were looking for I had forgon that we had chosen this accommodation for the view so on arrival in Tilcara I was a little disappointed as we drove higher and higher up a hill away from the centre of town. I ended up being grateful because it was an easy 5 minute walk down to town and a cheap cab ride back up and the views were definitely worth it.

Por otro lado Agradecemos la amabilidad y predisposición de Joaquín, nos guío y saco dudas en todo momento! Muy servicial y súper calido!! PD: no dejen de probar las pizzas (caseras también) que hacen en el mismo Hostal, son buenísimas!!!!!!:)

• Bertrand S (1/5): A éviter - La vue sur la montagne. Tout le reste était nul. La direction prévient que l’hébergement est « simple », mais simple ne veut pas dire sale et inconfortable. Ce commentaire est très différent des autres commentaires que nous avons pu lire. Le petit déjeuner « exceptionnel «  est à prendre au 2 eme ou 3 eme degré Nous étions chambre no4 au Rez de chaussée avec des chiens errants autour de la porte. La chambre est toute petite et n’avait aucune aération autre que la fenêtre. On ne pouvait pas la laisser ouverte la nuit. Nous sommes restés 2 jours. La chambre n’a pas été nettoyée au cours de notre séjour. L’humidité était telle que du moisi est apparu sur les serviettes Les lits de 140 sont très inconfortables. Nous avons très mal dormis Enfin , le petit déjeuner est très très succinct.

• Alex (9/5): - Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen! Der Gastgeber war unglaublich freundlich, die Zimmer liebevoll und süss eingerichtet. Der Sitzplatz sowie der Essbereich waren gemütlich. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war absolut top. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen war das Badezimmer, in dem wir viele fremde Haare am Boden vorgefunden haben. Ausserdem war die Matratze leider sehr durchgelegen.

• Caroline (8/5): Lots of rustic charm. - The room was lovely - rustic and characterful. The views spectacular and a really nice breakfast. We were aware that the property was located up a hill. This was okay for us as we had a car but would not be so easy for those without transport. Taxis are available, however, if needed!

Un desayuno muy rico con toques de productos del lugar. Una experiencia recomendable si te gusta lo agreste que no desentona con la ciudad. El baño es algo pequeño.

La habitación es maravillosa, muy acogedora y decorada con muy buen gusto! la vista desde la habitación al despertarnos era preciosa, y la vista desde la terraza donde se sirve el desayuno era una postal!!! bellísimo!!! Solamente para tener en cuenta que está bien arriba, su nombre lo dice! Venir con auto o gustar de subir caminando unas cuadras desde el centro! Pero la vista bien merece la pena, y aparte se evita el bullicio del pueblo!

La terraza tiene una vista excelente..Muy buena atención del personal, sobre todo de Joaquín, siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar y colaborar para elegir buenas opciones en el viaje En la primera habitación que estuvimos no llegaba la señal de wi-fi .

• Laurane (10/5): - Nous avons passé un super séjour à l'Hostal de Altura. La personne de la réception est super sympa et nous a bien conseillé sur les restos et balades environnantes. En prime, une superbe vue sur les montagnes et un très bon petit déjeuner ! Petit bonus, les chambres sont décorées avec goût tout comme la réception ! Nous avons adoré, à tel point d'avoir repris une nuit supplémentaire (localisation entre Humahuaca et Purmamarca idéale). Je recommande les yeux fermés :)

Lo staff é stato disponibile nel lavarci i vestiti, ma sono andate perdute alcune mutande e calze. Inoltre, nel fare le pulizie, é stato rotto un cavetto del telefono attaccato alle presa. Può capitare, ma sarebbe meglio fare più attenzione.

• Maria (8/5): - Great location with stunning view of the Hill of seven colours. Nice terrace with a view and delicious breakfast with fruit, toastie, and yummy coffee. Service and attention were superb. Kitchen area to have meals, make tea and coffee, etc. We were given a room with an outdoor bathroom located a few steps up which wasn’t very convenient but we were notified about this a few days in advance.

• Carla (9/5): La pasamos increíble y nos gustó mucho disfrutar de la terraza, viendo Tilcara desde arriba. - El Hostal es hermoso, tiene una ubicación muy buena, para quienes no les moleste caminar en subida unas 9 cuadras o se maneje en auto. El camino desde la plaza chica hacia el hostal, es muy lindo y la vista de la terraza y la sala de desayuno es preciosa. Joaquín nos atendió siempre con una sonrisa, es muy amable. La habitación triple es muy bonita, cómoda, los colchones buenos, la ducha perfecta, solo nos resultaba levemente oscura porque da a una callecita que no tiene la vista abierta. El wi fi en el cuarto se cortaba mucho o directamente no andaba. Pero en la terraza o en el comedor del desayuno, andaba perfecto. Para nosotros no fue grave.

Joaquin was lovely and really helpful while we were there! The breakfast was delicious but some savoury options would also be really good! So much dulce de leche!

• Anna-lena (10/5): What a great stay - The host Ludmilla is an extremely kind and friendly person who assisted us a lot with booking and deciding on our tours. The hostel terrace has an amazing view overlooking the mountains and valley. The breakfast was exceptionally delicious and we were offered different options to adjust it to your preference or diet. Our room was small and very comfy and was cleaned daily. We didn't feel like guests and more like family ❤️
• Anna (7/5): great view! - The property sits up a hill with beautiful views of the hills around - the views are the real selling point! Nice little hotel, basic. The staff were really friendly. The walk into town is 10/15mins and there are lots of friendly dogs on the way. We felt it was overpriced for what it was. The breakfast was underwhelming - we were offered a pancake which we accepted and tasted good but we noticed others around us had pancakes, toast, eggs etc…unsure why we were not offered the same. The room also smelled like they had sprayed a lot of aerosol to mask the musky smell. It was very rustic - I like rustic but we have stayed in other places in Argentina for much much less.
• Tom (9/5): Superb - We’ve been traveling for over 5 months. Hostal de Altura was one of our favorite accommodations. Yes, it’s a steep walk uphill, which might not be for everyone given the thin air in this high-altitude village. But if you make it up there, you’ll be rewarded with a picture-perfect view from the roof terrace. In our opinion, Tilcara is more scenic than the other well-known towns, and the perfect base from which to explore the quebrada. Thumbs up for the breakfast: we enjoyed the pancakes and cereal muffins. Our host Dana was amazing: due to a delay, we arrived in the middle of the night. She made arrangements for us to be able to enter the room and even gave us an upgrade. She also got us in touch with a local tour guide, whose prices were half of what the tour operators in town charge.

• Iris (10/5): Best stay ever - The hostal is at a perfect location, on top of a hill looking over the multi-coloured mountains. The staff - all of them - are genuinely amazing. We initially booked 2 nights, but we both got sick so had to stay longer, and it was the perfect place to do so. The staff checked in on us multiple times a day to see if we needed anything or if they could do anything for us 🥹 for which we are forever grateful. The room was very very clean, and got cleaned every morning. The shower is hot and has good water pressure and the beds are very comfortable. As others already stated, this was also our best breakfast in 4 months of traveling through South America. There also is a cute rooftop terrace to chill and have breakfast while watching the beautiful mountains. 10/10 I would recommend everyone to stay here!
