- Alex A (10/5): - Really enjoyed my stay - the room and bathroom were spacious, and the sea-view terrace was a highlight. The room was well equipped with everything you need, and the included breakfast was great. Fantastic value for money.

- Traveling Cat (9/5): Good location and nice staff - We loved the location, very near the sea and Madryn Buceo (to go snorkeling with sealions). Within walking distance, we could find several restaurants, including on the beach. The place was spotless clean and the room fairly large. Nice staff. We had view on the sea = the sunrise - this means facing the main road which, fortunately, does not have too much traffic. Breakfast was very simple, no eggs (except hard), not much choice.

- John (10/5): Stayed a week - loved it. Super location. - Super duper hotel. Great location - very friendly staff. Nothing - it was great.
- TravelingVK (10/5): Wonderful Family-Owned Hotel - This hotel was fantastic. The hotel is family owned and has a warm, home-like feel to it while being super comfortable and modern as well. The rooms were comfortable with fantastic views (ask for a sea-facing room with a great view of the beach and the sea) with great showers and a large bathroom. The breakfast was good as well. Special mention to Matias at the front desk - extremely helpful, attentive, kind, and gives great food recommendations! The hotel is a 1-minute walk to the beach out front and a 5-10 minute walk to town. Great wifi too! Would definitely stay again.

- N9330LZmichaels (10/5): Much better than expected! - We had a wonderful 4 night stay on the last week of October 2021. It exceeded my expectations for a three star hotel, very clean rooms as was the rest of the hotel, kind staff, very good breakfast and comfortable beds for a good nights sleep, maybe the pillows could be improved.
There are also very nice places to eat at a short walking distance along the shoreline adding a great stroll with an amazing view.
I’d definitely go back and recommend to friends.
- minab306 (6/5): Located across the street from the beach - We stayed four nights. This is an inexpensive hotel. Rooms were OK but pillows were terrible. Internet not so good. Staff were accommodating. Simple breakfast is served until 11 am. No outdoor space for sitting and relaxing but beach is across the street. Hotel is located about a ten minute taxi ride from downtown.
- 12Travellingismylife (8/5): Seaview but far from town centre - This Hosteria offers nice modern rooms, some with balcony and many with sea view. I could actually see whales from there in the early morning!
If you are staying there without a car you should know however that the next restaurant is quite a walk away as all of the beach restaurants you can see on Google Maps close to the Hosteria are actually closed/derelict. There is a small supermarket approx. 10 minutes walking distance in the second road parallel to the beach front.
Beware of Saturday nights: The youth of the town use the beach avenue for car races until dawn!
- annalizem (10/5): Lovely - I visited Puerto Madryn for a conference at the Cenpat. I stayed here and had a wonderful view of the ocean. The room was a good size, and very clean. Very hospitable and accommodating staff, with 24hr front desk assistance. I would recommend to anyone visiting the area! Great!
- mispule (6/5): Good hotel with a nice view - This hotel is good, nice and for good value. It's a seaside location. We liked that they have an inside parking place. The room was spacious, the bathroom could be little bit cleaned. The breakfast was ok. The location is a little bit far from the town center, we had a car so we didn't care and you can still walk there for a dinner or something and there are also some restaurants on the seaside near the hotel. It's a quite location.
- _C21QE (10/5): Cozy neet hosteria - It's a small hotel kept by it's owner Georgina, very hospitable and nice woman. Rooms are comfortable and neat with a sea view. There is TV, conditioner, safe. No refrigerator and only breakfasts. But there are a lot of cafes near the hotel along the seashore. So it's no problem at all. We enjoyed our stay in this place very much!
- moira321 (8/5): Room with a view - A room with balcony and view of the Golfo Nuevo was a real treat for me. Comfortable and clean. Enjoyed lovely long walks on the promenade along the beachfront and on the beach. Breakfast was good. Staff not very helpful and necessary to do my own research about activities in the area. Overall good value. In March the weather was great too.
- celine_preaux (8/5): Nice little hotel - We enjoyed very much our stay at Hosteria Solar de la Costa. Georgina, the director of the Hotel, was very nice and hospitable. She booked excursions for us and helped us when my husband was being ill. She is very smiling. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, the view beautiful, the breakfast quite various. It’s a bit far from the centre, but it’s quiet, near the museum and there is a good restaurant a few steps away. Plus, the buses for the excursions come to get you at the door of the hotel and you can take a collective cab that leaves you there as well.
- 524tanjap (8/5): Great little place to spend a few days in Puerto Madryn - It is a basic place and a bit out of the way but therefore right next to the beach and more quiet than the ones closer to the centre. We were lucky that even though we booked last minute we got a room with a balcony and a stunning view over the sea - priceless for a sunset picada. The room was very clean and big for this kind of place. Breakfast was nothing special but nice enough to get up for it. Staff was friendly. Overall a place to recommend if you want to spend a few days in Puerto Madryn.
- KathMacca (8/5): No frills stay - Basic, clean and simple but big room. Breakfast was simple but ok and the staff were ok but not overly helpful. It's about a 20 mins walk from the main restaurants in town but the views over the bay and the walk along the beach is lovely. Would recommend staying here if you already have trips planned ahead of arrival and like a walk! The plumbing is pretty noisy as well!
- dregnichols (8/5): Muy lindo / lovely- good service - I stayed here in July alone (companions having backed out.) I had a room facing the bay, and could see whales breaching all day! The view was amazing, the breakfast was adequate and the staff very friendly (though I am Spanish-speaking, so that undoubtedly helps).
The center city, with shops, etc. is a bit of a hike (1/2 hour), but there are restaurants within 4-6 blocks on the beach.
The wifi was a bit slow, and at the time I stayed, only worked in the lobby. They were working on getting it in the upper level rooms, however.
- TeamBroBra_Intl (8/5): Comfortable, no frills inn with ocean views. - We spent 2 nights here while sightseeing nearby Peninsula Valdes. This hotel is a bit of a walk from the restaurants in town, but the walk along the water was pleasant so this wasn't a problem for us. Our room had a balcony and an ocean view where we could constantly see whales breaching in the water. The breakfast was included and basic. Rooms were small but included everything we needed. The hallway tended to be a bit noisy, especially early in the morning when other guests were leaving for sightseeing tours. Some of the staff was not bilingual, so knowing some Spanish was quite helpful.
- hardtosay (10/5): Charming, clean, sweet little place on the ocean - My review may be a little biased because the other two places we stayed in Argentina (V&S Hostel in Buenos Aires, Riotropic in Puerto Iguazu) were decidedly budget and not fairly comparable, but the Solar de la Costa was by far my favorite place we stayed in Argentina. I was the sick member of the party elchang below mentioned, so I spent a *lot* of time in my room in the Solar de la Costa. I can't speak to the distance from the town since I didn't really go out (it is out of the main area of town, though I hear it's walkable, and the airport shuttle and tours will drop off and pick up directly from the hotel).
As for the hotel itself, check-in was easy - I went to the hotel directly from the airport in Trelew (my friends went on tour) to check in early, and the woman at the front desk was very nice. As soon as she saw I wasn't feeling well, she bypassed most of the check-in process and got me up to a room as soon as possible so I could lie down, telling me to call if I needed anything at all. The room was very charming and sparkling clean with a window overlooking the ocean (which was across the road) and a cheerful feel to it. It had a nice big king bed (with 2 large pillows, though after my friend asked housekeeping for an additional pillow for me to prop myself up, they brought us two more pillows) with white bedspread that was quite comfortable and a small TV with a lot of channels (including a few English-language channels). The bathroom was good-sized, extremely clean, and quite nice, with a shower/tub combo, a bidet, toilet, and a nice sized sink. It was a nice place to be confined for a day and a half - very comfortable and bright. I didn't have an appetite so I didn't look for food, but that was probably one downside - I don't think there were many convenient places to get food in the area, except maybe one restaurant across and down the street a bit, that we didn't check out.
I did try to venture out the next morning, discovering nice fresh juice at breakfast with some sticky croissants and bread (not lots of choices, but a reasonably good free breakfast), a computer on which I could check my email (I think there's a charge but I don't think they charged us), and a comfortable small lobby area with couches where we waited for our tour bus. The front desk people were also nice, though with varying fluency in English, and were helpful in calling for shuttles and tour companies and answering our questions.
I probably liked the Solar de la Costa a little more than my friend did, since I basically spent my entire time in Puerto Madryn in my room, but I would highly recommend it.
- elchang (8/5): clean rooms, pretty good breakfast, a bit far - We stayed at the Hosteria Solar de la Costa for two nights.
One of our party got sick the first day and went to the hotel early (9am) and the hotel staff was really nice and just let her into a room to sleep it off, without asking her to do a lot of paperwork or anything. We ended up doing that later when the rest of us arrived.
The rooms are clean and pretty big and the beds are comfy. The ocean view rooms don't cost extra so it's worth requesting one if you like that sort of thing. The lobby and breakfast area are cute and the breakfast is pretty good; cereal, ham and cheese, bread, croissants, juices, tea/coffee, etc.
One of the receptionists spoke excellent English and was helpful in contacting tour agencies for us (we made several changes and she was very patient). The night receptionists spoke less English and we had some communication difficulties. For instance, on the last day we booked an airport shuttle for 7:45am, and it showed up at 7:15am, and we weren't ready, which resulted in the shuttle guy getting pissed at us. She had said "it may come early, maybe 7:30am" but she had never mentioned 7:15am. In the end everything went okay and we all got to the airport on time.
The hotel is a long walking distance from the center of town; we walked both nights and didn't mind since the weather was great and we wanted to explore anyway, but it might have been annoying if we wanted to get there quickly.
Overall, we had a pretty good stay at the Solar de la Costa.
