- Alicia (9/5): - We love staying at Darcy's when we visit Sydney. Its a beautiful, small hotel full of character in quiet leafy grounds with free parking. Its a good location for accessing the city or Sydney Olympic Park by public transport. It can be tricky without staff onsite. We had a room with no bathroom by choice. We accidently locked ourselves out after midnight with no phone. Managed to sort it out in the end.
- Kretz (7/5): -
- Melvic (7/5): Budget friendly and good location - Location, Room size and comfy bed. Train station and cafes are really close. Some really good food options are around there too. There was a Gnarly/ mouldy smell in the room on the first few days which made our stay a bit uncomfortable. The housekeeper did give us a room freshener that would keep the smell away for a while. It did help a bit. I have stayed here before and its the 1st time I've experienced this.
- Jiyeon (5/5): -
- Kellie (9/5): A really easy place to access with clean facilities - Location great. Ten minute walk to Strathfield railway station which provides greater access to trains than the closer Homebush station. Leafy streets. While I did not use the kitchen, it is spacious and has good facilities. The lounge is a beautiful area to wait and relax
- Angelica Juliana (8/5): -
- Rachael (9/5): Perfect, and will stay again ⭐️ - The space, quietness, location the feel of the hotel! Nothing not to like
- V (8/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): Great value and location - Location to sporting venues
- Alistair (8/5): A lovely stay, thank you. - Convenient location. Some external cobwebs.
- Carolyn (8/5): Convenient, comfortable stay. - Large room, comfy bed in older style building. Well priced. Free car parking. Nice leafy suburb. Convenient $30 Uber trip to the city. Being an older building floors creaked and walls very thin. Woken early by people leaving at 5.30am.
- Carol (1/5): Don’t stay here at Darcy’s - Location I have stayed at Darcy’s Hotel many times in years gone by when it was managed by Kevin . The service/ atmosphere / amenities back then was impeccable , and I never had any thing to complain about . Sadly not anymore .
Upon arrival there was no one to be seen . I rang the Mgr , Andrew’s number , it was stuck on the window at the Front Door which was slightly ajar . It continuously went to message bank ) I sat in front communal lounge room for some time trying to call him / hoping he’d call back / return my calls and messages . A cleaner appeared and also called him numerous times . She too couldn’t make contact with him . Eventually he called the cleaner back, and she then put me on the phone to Andrew . Andrew initially couldn’t find my reservation . I was starting to panic . He asked when did I make booking . I said on booking.com and gave him the date . He eventually found my booking. Andrew then said the keys are in an envelope on desk in lounge area . Problem being was that there were numerous envelopes , and no guest names on envelopes only room numbers , and hence I could not identify who’s key was who’s when I originally arrived . I then settled into my room . I used the communal bathroom for all guests to use and noticed a hamper of dirty clothes , tooth brush / paste and acab of shaving cream on sink with toothpaste smeared across the basin . I thought this is a bathroom for all guests to use , and it looked like possibly the belongings of someone who was living in hotel on perm basis . I did not want to see dirty clothes and other belongings in a shared bathroom
The next morning is when the nightmare begun . A fellow guest had been in the only communal bathroom for over 40mins ( I chose to sit in an armchair in hallway waiting to use the bathroom next ) . The manager Andrew appeared and asked if everything was ok . I said a guest had been in bathroom for over 40mins and I was waiting to use bathroom next .
- ErinL83 (7/5): - Comfortable bed, well equipped rooms, great location, friendly staff Need floor mats for the shower to stand on when drying yourself. Key card was a bit fickle
- Jonatan (7/5): Good stay for a good price, not luxurious. - Very spacious rooms and comfortable bedding. Good price for this all too! A fair few of the towels had old stains in them, still smelled clean but could do with some new ones.
- Smith (6/5): -
- Mario (4/5): - Location is fine. The response was too slow.
- Tina (1/5): -
- Simon (7/5): - The staff were very helpful. The place is older, decent size rooms. It looked like someone had been lying on the bed before we arrived (pillow crushed and bedcovers untidy).
- ains&mik (8/5): Convenient location, easy access from airport and Olympic Park (Qudos arena). Simple & comfy. - Darcy's is a large home, in a quiet location. It was relatively easy to find, and is just a short walk from either Strathfield station or Homebush station. Strathfield is a busier station, with a Woolies close by. The walk from the station (either station) is up an incline, which didn't bother us but something people may need this info. The bed in our room was comfortable, and the ensuite was a reasonable size. We didn't really have much road noise or anything from our room. There is a kitchen, however we didn't need to use it. The room has a small fridge and a kettle, which were perfect for our stay. Maybe I just didn't read enough information prior to arriving, but we did find the check in process a little confusing. There is no actual "reception" area. We ended up calling the number at the door and were advised to enter the property, turn left into the lounge area and find out name on an envelope on the table, which contained our room keys. There are two keys in the envelope, one for the room and one for the front door if you come back late from an event (which we did, so this was very handy).
- Craig (7/5): Fix those things & it would be a better experience. It was a grand old place with lots of character. - very spacious, close proximity to train and our function no face washers or hand towel, towels a bit thin, no tea bags or coffee bags supplied, weren't told it was a self check-in & where our key to our room was.
- Lindy (10/5): Perfect - Location
- Janet (8/5): - Andrew was helpful when we contacted him. Thank you
- Canice (9/5): - Beautiful property. Shower needs fixing
- Cheryl (7/5): - Couldn’t find breakfast!!!!
Quiet Lack of information re breakfast n restaurants nearby
- Russell (10/5): I have found the place I will be staying every time I have to go to Sydney - It was absolutely fantastic. Beautiful scenery ,quiet., clean and comfortable. Plus great price. Definitely booking here again next visit to Sydney Nothing. This hotel was 5 stars. We loved our stay .
- Ian (9/5): Relaxation just a short walk from both Strathfield and Homebush cafes and train stations. - Darcy's is an old style hotel with a wonderful ambiance.
- Gemma (10/5): - So close to Home bush stadium for all the main events. Affordable, clean and really comfortable. We have stayed here a few times now as it's so convenient.
- Strider (7/5): Unique in Homebush - Kooky Needs a refresh and energy
- Michaeli (8/5): A little noisy, but comfy, lovely and VERY close to Homebush train station - The beds had the COMFIEST doona ever! I went looking for tags just to see if I'd be able to find myself one online for home.
The art and furniture was also lovely, very homestead energy with lots of local and native history. The key collection is a little confusing, and the rooms are a little noisy to one another.
The front door remained ajar/blocked open 24/7, which feels dangerous. Even when I would remove the door jam for security concerns, I would find it opened again at all hours of the night.
The shared bathroom was, unfortunately, very inconsiderately occupied by another guest, as was a common room. But that is a reflection on that guest, and not the accommodation. Still, the photos made it looks like there was a different set up w the shared bathroom than there is.
- eyal (8/5): Nice place but could do with some improvements. - Mostly good, very quiest, clean, beautiful place. Good parking Lack of clear instructions. Internet wasn't strong enough to use. Only one bathroom/toilet for the entire floor. Didn't have a problem but could be problematic in a full house.
- Yessica (8/5): It was very good value for money, highly recommended. - ,
- Saul (1/5): Not good - Location Very dirty a lot of cockroach
- Yaxin (9/5): Fair price and good value. - The room is spacious and vintage, comfortable to stay as you get most of the things you need here.
Location is good, less than 15 mins walking from Strathfield Train station, where you find plenty of shops and restaurants. WiFi is a bit slow.
- Petra (9/5): Heritage accommodation near Sydney Olympic Park - Cozy and stylish hotel in a beautiful historical building. It is conveniently situated few steps from train station. Spacious, quiet room with very comfy bed. Well equipped kitchenette, charming and comfortable lounges.
- Adam (9/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Great value and very comfortable - Location Nothing
- chris (8/5): -
- Michael135 (10/5): Excellent value - The old world charm of the building and furnishings are amazing. The beds are comfortable. I found our room bigger than it looked in the photos. There is a decent lounge area guests can use. Andrew was very responsive on the phone but there was noone on site at any point. There were no issues with the stay so all good.
- Craig (5/5): Big room but it's a weird hostel place just like borrowing a room in a big house share. - Spacious room Awful check in - weren't prepared, no front desk, phone number not answered for the first few occasions.
- Philip (8/5): We will use this property to stay in again - Quiet, close to train station and facilities. Spacious I can’t say there wasn’t anything we didn’t like about our accommodation
It could be updated a bit with new bed covers or maybe a deep clean of the bed spreads and curtains, but we did enjoy our stay
- Lee (10/5): Great price, great room - Very comfortable, liked the location Nothing
- Stephani (9/5): -
- Maria (8/5): - Surprisingly nice building kept in top condition
- David (8/5): -
- Tanya (1/5): It was disappointing. Never go back there again. - We have no air conditioning and the room was that hot. The fan wasn’t even working good overall it was disappointing. We checked in and then we checked out an hour later. That’s how bad it was. There was no air-conditioning and we didn’t even have a bathroom we had to share and I didn’t like that
- Shuang (10/5): -
- Emily (9/5): Great find! - Really good location - walking distance to both train and bus transport. The room was very spacious and the water pressure in the shower was awesome. Pricing was really good when you take the location into consideration too.
- Brett (9/5): Good - Large comfortable room Bit far away from Accor Stadium
- Peter (3/5): Average - Large rooms Pillows were bad/ shared bathroom between too many people/ internet was weak
- Christie (2/5): Unclean, unsafe, not secure, bad customer service - It was a good location Honestly the whole thing was sketchy and not secure, the owner had everyone that was staying that night’s cards in a envelope with their names and numbers and their room numbers on them. We had no idea how to check in and the owner wouldn’t answer his phone for us to check in, we had to ask someone staying there. Then we were locked out of our rooms because our key cards were too close to our phones which wiped them, so we called the owner and he told us where we could get new key cards. They were out in the open similar to when we checked in except instead of the common lounge room, they were in the common room kitchen above the microwave in a pile where literally ANYONE could grab them and break into our room. These keycards weren’t numbered for specific rooms they were just key cards THAT HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THE ROOMS?! This was the point where we weren’t feeling safe to stay the night, but we had a concert and we had already paid the money for the night. Once we came back from our concert, we were met with the biggest cockroach we’ve ever seen crawling up the wall, we then squished it and went to bed. If im being completely honest the room wasn’t as clean as we would have hoped, there was hair in the bathroom as well as a drop of i don’t even know what in front of the toilet. Then comes the next morning, my friend and i got too warm in the night so we pulled off a few layers of sheets, so in the morning when we were getting ready to check out and we see within the layers of sheets there’s ANOTHER DEAD ROACH?! My friend and i are extremely disappointed in this hotel, we’ve read the reviews and they mention how it’s turned to shit since they’ve changed owners. I would not suggest this place to anyone especially young women like ourselves or families purely for their safety, health and privacy. We are lucky that there wasn’t bad people staying in the building. We will not be staying here again.
- SONYA (7/5): -
- Maaike (10/5): -
- Calida (9/5): Elegant oasis in the city - An oasis in the busy city. Elegant and comfortable. Wish we were staying longer. Minimal interaction with staff but we did arrive late. Could have been better instructions for check-in.
- Frank Kerklaan (8/5): - The bed lamps were not working
- Ali Sina (3/5): -
- Tara (5/5): good location - location
- Janine (9/5): Beautiful building, room and furnishings. Spotlessly clean. Fabulous host. - Building and room was all in period style with stunning furniture and lovely furnishings. The host was very responsive and friendly. Nothing I didn't like!
- Greg (10/5): -
- Kayleigh (8/5): - Great location after concert at Olympic Park, easy walk from train station.
Room was a good size, ensuite and clean and comfortable.
- Michael (3/5): - Leaking toilet and they just left a bath towel over it to soak up the water! Asked them to fix it and not while I was staying there
- Belinda (10/5): - Beautiful historic building, clean, large rooms, friendly staff Liked everything about it
- Natalie (8/5): Comfortable, convenient beautiful old property. - Convenient, friendly staff, free parking, beautiful old property Bit of confusion when arriving about room allocation which was a little stressful. Can be a little noisy as old home.
- Steven (8/5): -
- Marc (3/5): Could be so much nicer - Building was locked at 2pm. Had problems getting in. Several Cockroaches in room.no air-conditioning. Just a fan in room that wouldn't turn on. Everything
- Warren (7/5): great location for train service - spacious room no hot water by 8am
- JJ (8/5): -
- Steve (7/5): It was ok, price was good - Price was good Awkward location. No staff ? Just a phone number for contact
- Mario (10/5): -
- Lauren (5/5): Comfortable bed, close to Accor stadium/ station/shops/cafe. Need to hire new cleaners. - Comfortable bed, Great location close to train station, shops, cafe and close to Accor Stadium. Mould on ceiling of the bathroom, shower glass needed to be cleaned, skirting boards window area had dust and dust under the bed. Need instructions stating there is no staff to check in and have to call and find envelope with your name and room key. Need to supply check out details to your guest. Come back to room and someone yelling out figured it was another guest. Then knock on the door from cleaner going check out and I said I will be checking out before 10am. Due to the lack of attention to detail in the cleaning of the room I would highly suggest that you hire a new cleaners asap.
- Bryan (7/5): Good value - Location
- Jacqueline (8/5): Lovely building built in early 1900's- well maintained. - The building was beautiful. Lovely early 1900 furniture. Nicely decorated and clean. Our room was large and very comfortable. The shared bathroom was next door- so convenient and had plenty of room. There was a large comfortable bed, extra blanket and jug with tea and coffee making facilities. Off street parking good. Quiet location. Walking distance to Homebush village. The fridge was warm, so was a spare storage space instead of a fridge. The lady who checked us in wasn't forth coming with a lot of information and not really engaging.
- Murray Smith 65 (10/5): - Great location. Comfortable and clean. Andrew the manager was amazing. Highly recommended and will definitely be hack
- Christopher (8/5): - Perfecto for the price.
- Cangpin (9/5): - A large, clean, quiet, and beautiful room. good location.
- Erson (6/5): - Location Kettle was rusty
- Bell (8/5): Great rooms, beautiful hotel. Shame about the lack of hospitality. - Beautiful historic building, great rooms. Staff are unwelcoming and odd, particularly after a long journey.
Cleaning staff were borderline rude at 08.00am hurrying us to vacate our room.
- Alison (7/5): -
- Craig (8/5): -
- Allison (10/5): -
- Lesley (6/5): Would stay again when going to Accor stadium. Worked perfectly for a brief few hours of sleep after a gig. - Short walk to station. Didn’t feel too secure. Not sure if there was anyone on site at the accommodation apart from guests.
- Kristine (7/5): - Location Toilet leaked when flushed bedside lamps didnt work at all
- Tina (6/5): Get better wifi and upgrade kettle crockery cups are tiny! air con etc - The shower was great. Bad internet and door keys wouldn’t work.
- Petefromperth (8/5): Have stayed before and will stay again, it's our go-to for Sydney - Great location, quiet but close to trains Parking can be a bit difficult
- Reg (8/5): - Great value for money. Spacious rooms. I 9
- JIHYUN (7/5): -
- James (8/5): Great location for Sydney Olympic Park and great value. - Yesteryear flavour. Tired in places.
- Tanya (3/5): -
- Sharon (5/5): Not happy with the service - There was no breakfast
The location was great I got locked out of my room for 5 hours and I rang the manager Andrew 11 times before he answered at 9.45 pm
- Jen (8/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): Handy - Location and easy check in, local shops in walking distance down road Bit dated and unclean. The air con filter was disgustingly dirty.
- Renee (6/5): - Location was great to get to Olympic park Bathroom could have been a little cleaner and main light wasn’t working. The day we arrived was warm and the room had a musty smell which disappeared after some ventilation- perhaps airing out the room would help
- nardia (8/5): Clean, Quiet location and a quick walk to cafe’s and train station. Comfy beds too! -
- Julie (8/5): Homely, welcoming and clean. - Darcy's is a very welcoming accommodation. It has large rooms, decorated appropriately for the era of the home, the beds were very comfy and I had everything I needed in the room. Milk, coffee, tea, hair dryer, shampoo/cond. The house had a nice feeling about it. There wasn't anything I didn't like, however, there were no instructions on how to re enter the premises after hours. Only a handwritten note with the owners phone number. No compendium in the room. Other than that, all was good.
- Suecque (9/5): Old world charm - Old world charm, huge rooms, in a leafy street. Parking was a plus, although plenty on the street. Within walking distance to several eating options. Not far from Qudos Arena. Tea and coffee were not supplied in room. There is no lock on windows.
- Suecque (8/5): -
- Sebastian (8/5): -
- Sebastian (8/5): -
- Julie (9/5): It felt like home & the building has been beautifully restored. We will be staying again! - Homely, comfortable & cool. Easy going vibe.
Andrew was very helpful. It’s not something I didn’t like, it’s more that I felt it could be improved.
There was no compendium in the rooms giving a summary of how to’s etc
Late arrivals had no idea how to access their room, no instructions on the door etc.
The rooms were quiet & the beds were comfy with beautiful sheets.
