- Gould (8/5): - Great location for the football.
Friendly staff.
- john (8/5): -
- Verity (5/5): Comfortable bed and good location - Excellent location. So close to the station.
Shop nearby.
Comfortable bed Not the cleanest. I don’t think the carpet had been hoovered. There were clumps of hair in it.
No kettle in room.
- Maureen Anne (7/5): - Very clean room, great bed, laundered sheets! The en-suite bathroom basin is blocked so water goes down slowly.
I think there should be tea and coffee making facilities in your room
- Marie (9/5): Great location - Quiet room, clean and comfy bed. Easy check in and out.Would have been nice to have a kettle and some tea /.coffee facilities in the room, but apart from that it was great and a brilliant location for the train station, buses and Kings Hospital
- Clare (10/5): -
- Kudla (10/5): -
- Ángel (4/5): - Lo mejor en mi caso fue la ubicación ya que está cerca del king's college. La cama era cómoda y el personal fue amable en todo momento. Fácil hacer el check in y el check out. La habitación estaba mucho más sucia de lo esperado. El baño parecía estar limpio y también la cama, sábanas y toallas, pero la moqueta estaba extremadamente sucia y había mucho polvo.
- Lucy (5/5): -
- Sarah (1/5): Could not contact them. Could not gain entry. Was left at night to find other accommodation. -
- David (7/5): Basic but clean and comfortable. - Well located for KIngs College Hospital no breakfast available. Provide tea making facilitaies
- Justin (8/5): Super comfortable bed. Silent sleep. Very over priced for stay but as am independent want to support. Middle of the the - Friendly and helpful staff at the bar on check in (despite issues outside her control). Room was silent at night. Slept great and the bed was super comfy . Good tv. Issues with check in but sorted quickly and efficiently by staff. Change in systems/software but quickly sorted.
Stairwell needed attention and cleaned to the rooms. No desk in room (understand not required for everyone) needed for work. No other furniture other than bed. Handle of on suite loo broken and some (bit but minimal damp on ceiling and walls of bathroom).
- Monique (4/5): Location fine otherwise disappointed with room - Only location Dirty, needs hovering , dusty, cold, generally needs a good clean because yes you get what you pay for however, it does not mean the room needs to be unclean and dusty. Fortunately I had hay fever tablets due to the dust which aggravated it. In addition the hallway stairs, why not Hoover presentation is everything
- Eamon Maguire (2/5): Very dissappointing and poor value for money. - the only thing that this place had going for it is its location as we were visiting the hospital on Denmark hill. At least the bed linen was clean. There could have been somewhere to hang clothes, even a hook on the back of a door. A glass to drink water when washing our teeth. The place could have been cleaned.

- Avril (7/5): Clean, safe, friendly staff. Suitable location - Great location for my purposes with transport links, local shop and cafes nearby. Staff were helpful, the room was neat , tidy, clean and secure in a building behind the main entrance with it's own secure access. Room was plain. No tea or coffee making facilities, only one chair/ bedside light/ blind no curtains. During the evening noise from the pub music was significant. It did stop around 11 and was quiet after that. Travelling alone I do appreciate having tea and coffee making in my room. There were no close by options for coffee/ breakfast.
- Keith (5/5): It fitted our needs and was functional. - Good location for our needs Only 1 towel and mug.
- Alison (4/5): Would not recommend. - Convenient. Parked outside as it was the weekend. Bed comfortable and clean. Very nice lady who checked us in. Lots of stairs which had not seen a vacuum cleaner in years. No visible fire escape. Lack of facilities in the room. No kettle or tea/coffee making facilities. Very mouldy shower room. One towel for two people. No hand towel. When asked we were provided with another bath towel.
- Anthony (5/5): - Location was good Dusty not seen a hoover in a while, only 1 toilet roll
- Heath (8/5): - For the price very good, staff nice and helpful
- Enesa (6/5): - No colazione Camera troppo piccola, corridoio troppo stretto.
- Sweet (7/5): Convenient and clean but fairly basic… though inexpensive - The location was perfect as I was visiting Kings College Hospital. Didn’t realise that needed to check in through pub downstairs so glad I got there before pub shut Nothing in the room except a bed and TV. A kettle and a few coffee/ tea sachets would be nice. Also there was shower gel but no shampoo and shower smelled a little of drain

- Danielle (6/5): ideal for a solo or business traveller - Lady at the bar that checks you in was very helpful Bathroom was not very clean
- Lucinda (8/5): -
- Graham (7/5): Would certainly consider staying there again, when next in the area. - Room only, location good for where I needed to commute. An extra loo roll and shower gel, would have been helpful
- Danielle (6/5): Ideal for a solo or business traveller - The room was spacious and the lady at the bar who gets you checked in was lovely and helpful. The bathroom was not very clean
- Rajni (8/5): - Your staff was very helpful and good Tv I didn't like because there is no chanal
- Floortje (7/5): Prima hotel - Goede prijs-kwaliteit Balen dat er geen Europese stekker aanwezig was
- Rodrigues (7/5): - Le lit,la douche Sol sale, poussière
- Rodrigues (8/5): - Le lit ,la douche Rien

- Rachel (8/5): Perfect location for kings college hospital - Location and price was perfect for what we needed
- Luke (5/5): -
- Francoise (2/5): Dirty and expensive. - Nothing We didn't like anything. Pictures are completely misleading.
- Magali (1/5): Great location but very dirty , not worth the room rate. - Great location , very quiet room We had 2 rooms , both were absolutely disgusting. It hadn't been hoovered/ dusted in a long time. The toilet wasnt flushed when we arrived. The smell of damp was very strong.
- Lisa (5/5): In a great location. Bedding clean but room was dusty and not hoovered - Good location Bedding was clean but the room had not been dusted or hoovered
- Garbiñe (3/5): Regular - La ubicación La limpieza, no hubo servicio durante nuestra estancia de 5 días, ni toallas, ni limpieza de habitacion
- Susan (9/5): Comfy stay - Easy check in and location was perfect for a visit to King's hospital, read reviews some not so good but couldn't fault friendly staff and owner, room was lovely and clean, music from the bar downstairs wasn't a problem just a hum in the room, all in all a lovely stay Would of been nice to have tea/coffee facilitys in room to start my morning
- MALCOLM (7/5): Perfect for a one night stay especially with the bar - It’s location perfect for Kings College Hospital Food was not available but the staff helped me with Uber app to arrange a delivery if I wanted to
- lyn (5/5): Very basic but clean - Very close to station and hospital
Young woman who served me and took me to my room was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Handle on bathroom broken off.
Unable to get any signal on TV
No soap to wash hands but shower gel shampoo was provided
Tea and coffee making facilities would have been nice although a small shop was very close.
I had requested a ground floor room but had one up 2 flights of stairs
The phone number on booking was unrecognised so unable to call to say I would be late due to train cancellation.
None of my messages via booking were acknowledged.
- deborah (3/5): All it needs is a kettle and a damned good clean and then I’d have been happy - Close to where I needed to be No kettle for a brew, damp spot on the wall and shower enclosure and under rim of toilet needed a damned good scrub
- Ahmed (1/5): -
- stephanie (8/5): Comfortable accomadation within walking distance of Kings College Hospital - The staff memeber that showed me to my room was friendly and helpful . The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Close to Denmark train station and Kings College Hospital. However the room I was given was much smaller than shown on the web site. I was advised that as I had booked a small room ( I hadnt-I had booked a double room but for one adult to occupy ) there were no tea making facilities etc .A kettle was offered but wouldnt be available until the morning due to lack of staff. The kettle never arrived . This meant that as a lone female pensioner in a strange place I had to go out in the dark to find somewhere to provide a hot drink and a snack. Not as expected for the price paid even if London.
- Brian (7/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly. Tea/coffee facilities would be nice,as there are no breakfast options.
- Tammyew (7/5): Great location, comfortable spot. - I stayed at the George Canning because of it's proximity to my daughter's home. It was very basic but convenient and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The staff helped me with my bag and there was not any significant noise from the Pub. And you can't beat the price! As many people have stated, there was no bathmat, only 1 large towel (2 hand towels), no hairdryer and limited toiletries. The biggest bothers were the lack of hair dryer and no place to hang any clothes.

- Noemi (3/5): It’s ok to stay, easy access and check in. The service turning to be poorer as often not given in room towels and toilet - I like that it’s only 5 minutes walk from King’s College Hospital where I am on placement. I like that it’s easy to check in, even late in the evening when I finish my shift (8 pm) as the bar is open. Unfortunately, I needed to leave this negative comment after a while booking here. I have been here at least 10 times already during my placement, however, the last 3 weeks every single time they did not put towels in my room, and left it with a completely empty toilet roll. I thought it just happened by mistake, but three times in a row made me write this comment. I hope the staff members will change in the future as the poor quality will not reflect the price.
- Rachel (6/5): The shower needed bleaching as grout was orange and there was a big stain on the shower tray . Floors needed vacuuming . - Nice shower , Big TV , plugs from lamps great Wasn’t really very clean , tea coffee facilities, needed teaspoons and more than 2 milks
- Niamh (5/5): Very basic. - Bed was comfortable. Room was warm. Very very basic. Mould in the toilet. Had to buy our own toilet paper. One towel for a couple. Tried to contact the property numerous times re checking in / out and not once did they get back to me.

- Nóra (7/5): -
- Efy (8/5): - Very close and convenient if you need to have medical tests at King's college hospital.
- B.Chaber (3/5): Same about the lack of cleanliness - Very friendly staff and good location Bathroom had not been cleaned with stains and debris in the toilet from the previous occupants. Basin had lumps of toothpaste on/in it. Shower glass and tray hadn't been cleaned and there was even a used soap bar left at the back of the shower.
- Louise (4/5): Mediocre - Quiet location and near the hospital as I was spending my days there for my son It wasn’t very clean. No coffee or tea facilities or even water. They didn’t provide towels. Not even a hand towel in the bathroom.
- Kirsty (10/5): Value for money and a lovely room - Close to Kings college hospital which I needed as was due for an operation the next day. The room was clean and you had your own shower and toilet too, bed was comfy and you had free WiFi and a TV as well as the usual bed linens and towels and kettle with tea and coffee provided. the pub downstairs was lovely too and had a pool table and darts board and also showed sky sports. Staff were helpful and friendly and made the stay to smoothly.
- Julie (2/5): Served purpose for early hospital appoint - Location to train station and Kings College Hospital Room did not match images on booking.com site, there was no kettle in room . No water beaker, not all lights working and most noticeable that carpet had not been hoovered. I know that room was lower price bracket but cleanliness is a must . It could be so much better with little effort from owner . One positive- good shower.
- Mitchigan (7/5): -
- Huw (7/5): - Location is good for us. Guy who checked us in was friendly. No tea and coffee in the room.
- Alfonso Antonio (8/5): - La falta de información
- Hollamby (6/5): - Very close to the Kings College Hospital for early morning for operation It was on the pillows and was not comfortable
- Clive (7/5): - Good location, bus stop outside the door, train station 5 mins walk, not a bad little pub underneath with pool table. Good shower, comfy bed. Good value overall. The place was a bit dusty but it didn't bother me, but the bathroom was fairly clean. Would definitely stay there again.
- Lesley (8/5): Fantastic location, rooms were a great base (family of 3 in 2 rooms) perfectly clean. - Location fantastic! Short walk to Denmark Hill overground train..15 minutes direct to St Pancras. Short bus journey to East Dulwich, really really lovely.. Rooms are above a pub but not a lot of noise from there (we stayed midweek). Pub is on a busy road so you will get noise. Pub also had a nice vibe so no concerns there. Rooms perfectly clean and enough space. Staff all very helpful and pleasant. We were visiting family nearby so it was a perfect base. Lots of buses/overground trains to get you around. A great stay and we will be back! -

- Osman Pirzada (10/5): LOVELY STAY , AND THE BARMAID " LILLEE " was VERY KIND AND CONSIDERATE - THE LADY CALLED , "LILLEE" , who worked downstairs was absolutely lovely . She took good care of me and escorted me to my room . A very kind and supportive girl indded n/a
- Karen (8/5): Lovely fresh bedding made my stay 😊 - Clean / Kettle in room / Good location for kings hospital / Good price N/A
- john (1/5): The worst hotel experience I’ve had in 40 years of continual world travel. - Nothing I’ve never written a bad review before however this hotel is so bad that I felt compelled to do so.
- Lucy (7/5): Helpful bar staff in pub below. Were able to get a take away from the linked Tapete restaurant who were also very helpf - Proximity to Kings hospital for early morning appointment Basic accommodation. This room had nowhere to put clothes and no tea making facilities, but was at the back so quieter
- Nicolò (1/5): Not recommended - Position Even though we are aware windows cannot be fully open due to safety reasons, we would have expected a provision of at least a fan, we went in July. In addition to that, the bed sheets were not clean and there was only one roll of toilet paper with no possibility to ask staff. Definitely not recommended.

- John (8/5): A very enjoyable stay. - The location is perfect, being a short walk from Denmark Hill train station, from where it is one stop to Victoria, and a few minutes walk from Camberwell High street, where there are numerous restaurants. You check in inside the Pub and are then shown to your room through an outside door at the side of the building, which gives you very easy access for your stay. The room we had was a good size, with a very comfortable double bed, and the en suite bathroom had a nice shower. There is a very busy road at the front of the Pub and you must expect there to be noise at night, although this did not particularly impact on us. Pub users sat outside chatting in the evening but not beyond 11.00pm, so again no issue for us.

- Michelle (1/5): Would have been more hygienic sleeping in a public toilet! - The location to Kings Hospital It was filthy , stains on the walls, broken filthy toilet, disgusting shower that hasn’t been cleaned for years, no facilities at all, not even a cup or glass for water. Boiling hot room with no fan . Only one bath towel each , which were used as a cover as we slept on top of the dirty bed . Utterly disgusting!
- Louise (4/5): Disappointing- good location, comfy bed. Limited facilities. Poor customer service - Liked the location. The bed is comfy. No tea making facilities. Very limited toiletries - 1 shower gel 1 shampoo for 2 people for 2 nights and one had been previously used. Small amount of toilet paper. Don’t be fooled by the photographs. Nobody gets back to you when you email. Very disappointing
- Timar (10/5): The best price — with a bit of dust included. - The price for the stay was very good, the area is quiet, and don’t worry about the pub located below the rooms — after midnight, the fun ends and everything becomes peaceful. I didn’t like that the room wasn’t clean. I didn’t have high expectations considering the price, but the dust should be wiped and the carpet vacuumed. Otherwise, the bathroom was clean, and so were the bed sheets.
- Anita (8/5): Great location, lovely staff will stay again🥰 - Excellent location for visiting my dad who was in hospital in Kings No kettle in my room. I can’t function without my morning cup of tea
- Adrian (1/5): Catastrophically awful in every regard - Awful from start to finish. For the price point ($150 a night) would have expected way more. A tiny hotbox of room with zero ventilation, fan or AC. Literally roasted. Worst nights sleep we’ve ever had in a “ hotel”. A small barren room with zero facilities whatsoever..not even a glass for water.
Avoid at all costs Everything. Location is only redeeming feature but not for this price
- Ioana (10/5): Convenient price - The kitchen Nothing
- Roger (8/5): Served it’s purpose - Location to Kings hospital Not easily accessible and no yea making facilities in room, although when I asked for a letter one was provided
- Stella (8/5): Very good - Its close to the train station. I just hoped that the room was ready by check in time and I dont have to wait for it.
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (2/5): Very poor - Nothing The room is directly facing a bus stop and the main road, there were cars and buses running all night long. I couldn't sleep at all turn out have to book another hotel!!
- Louise (7/5): Comfortable, convenient, clean - but basic - Position Tiny room. No shampoo, soap, water
- Stella (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (8/5): Really nice people, would stay there again - just maybe stick some glasses in the room! - Awesome, friendly staff, location was perfect for where I needed to be! No soap in the bathroom, no glasses in the room, TV only had one channel working.
- Lucy (7/5): Close to Kings hospital, not for those with mobility issues as lots of stairs. - Close to Kings Hospital and Denmark Hill train station. Stayed here as my husband was having surgery at Kings. Was helpful to have a base nearby for the days he was in hospital. Didn’t reply to my requests regarding availability of 2 beds rather than double (requirement for night before surgery.). When we arrived there was confusion about the booking, this did get resolved by the nice girl behind the bar in the pub below, but added unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation. Luckily my husband was admitted early for surgery so didn’t need to stay the night as my 2 bed request hadn’t been actioned and it was a double bed in the room.
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Lucélia (10/5): We were lucky to find this accommodation especially after having to leave the other one because of the dirt. - The manager was attentive and kind and showed us everything, the room was clean and organised
- Faye (2/5): Extremely disappointing – unclean, misleading, and unresponsive - Nice location Extremely disappointing – unclean, misleading, and unresponsive
Our stay at George Canning Denmark Hill was incredibly frustrating from start to finish. The room was dirty, with visible dust and cobwebs, including on the ceiling above the bed, and there was black mould in the bathroom. This is not just poor service — it’s a serious hygiene issue.
We were given only one hand towel and one bath towel each, and just one small shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to share between two people. There was no hairdryer, not even one full toilet roll, and no spares provided. It felt like the absolute bare minimum effort had been made to prepare the room.
The WiFi was intermittent, only working when the pub downstairs was open, making the claim that WiFi is available in the rooms “free of charge” misleading.
Worse still, communication was non-existent. We tried multiple times to contact the property regarding check-in, sending messages via the Booking.com app and making numerous phone calls to the number provided — which went straight to voicemail every time. Our messages were never replied to. The listing states that self check-in is available, but this is not true and caused unnecessary stress and confusion.
Overall, the stay was uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and not at all as advertised. I would strongly recommend avoiding this property unless serious improvements are made.
- Mark (10/5): Easy and comfortable 1 night stay - Very helpful, friendly and understanding staff. Exactly what I needed for a 1 night stay attending an event nearby.
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect - Excellent and brilliant price for my visit to kings college hospital Nothing
- Theo (7/5): Good -
