- chriscW3758VE (10/5): 5 star cool hotel - A lovely hotel in a great location if you want to hang out in one of the most fun and authentic neighborhoods left in Manhattan. The room I booked was very small even by New York standards but I knew what I was getting into and it was well laid out, quiet, nice bed and comfortable for one person. Staff was chill. Hotel bar is fantastic. Not a hotel for a classic tourist but if you love New York for what makes it great, this is a top tier spot.

Epic bed, delectable throw, some solid music, turndown cookies, bottled water, sweet wine and an unapologetic mini bar. It truly felt like apartment living with boutique accoutrements. What it lacked in space, (which let’s be honest any true New Yorker would not complain about) , they made up for in spades with intention. Downstairs in the Swan Room was like a chic friend’s living room, but with better drinks. Morning eggs, a green smoothie, and coffee that hit the spot. Really want more do you need for a really great experience. Add in a deliberate staff that truly reflected the ambience and you’ve got pretty much a perfect 10.
- pameladO4083SQ (10/5): Amazing experience all the way around! - I had the best visit to NYC ever at Nine Orchard! The queen room was cosy and extremely well appointed. Everything from the mini-bar to the in-room sound system was designed with the comfort of the guest in mind. The East Room is a fabulous shared space where I had breakfast with my daughter and drank my tea in the afternoon. The beautiful fireplace was a welcome amenity since the weather was frigid!! The staff was amazing from the front desk to housekeeping to the servers. A special thank you to Desi and Esteban for helping me retrieve items I carelessly left behind. You will love your time at this gem in Manhattan. This will be our new go to for NYC trips!!

- Ania (9/5): Fabulous - I chose this hotel for its design and it did not disappoint. The room was beautiful, spacious, the bed very comfortable. You can see the attention to detail by everything that’s provided in the room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, I felt very taken care of. The breakfast is a la carte and was truly delicious and had some healthy options (and this comes from a very picky person). Some days I was in a rush and wished to there was a buffet, but still it was worth the wait especially in such a gorgeous room. The location was great, there are three subway stations nearby - one within just a 3min walk, and the other two within 10. I thought it will be a quiet area with nothing going on, but there were plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops, and really good ones! I really enjoyed my stay, highly recommend. I’m not a fan of having only a rain shower and have to bend around the shower not get my hair wet. Wish there was a regular shower head as well, but maybe this is typical in the US.

- conorh333 (6/5): BEWARE - they will downgrade your room without telling you…. Make sure to verify! - The standard for 5 stars has really fallen in NYC. Nine Orchard is unfortunately no exception to the trend. The experience was ruined within an hour of arrival. For starters, we called ahead to ensure our early check in would be honored and the room available. We were told the room was unoccupied the night prior, and to come by the hotel anytime to check into the room. We arrived at 2pm (standard check in is 3pm), yet we were told our room wasn’t ready. We then checked in to our Supreme view king to find it looked NOTHING like the photos online. Our room did look identical to the studio king room photos and layouts. The supreme view king has a living room with a couch in every photo. The studio king does not. The hotel tried to convince me that I was indeed in a supreme view king room… but clearly it was a lie. Eventually they agreed to move me to the correct room (the next day). Poor check in process and some shady tactics with the rooms. Beware…. MAKE SURE TO CONFIRM THE EXACT ROOM LAYOUT AFTER BOOKING THEY WILL TRY TO SNAKE YOU

- Nils (8/5): - Excellent hotel, friendly staff, great room. Our room was very expensive, but we also booked late. The staff serving the free breakfast was not up to the otherwise excellent standard of the hotel. They seemed inexperience and unfamiliar with basic breakfast norms. Coffee was served with milk but no spoon to stir. Basic requests like "sweetener" took 10 minutes. They seemed surprised that one would want more than one coffee. Food came out but then utensils took 5 additional minutes.

There is no understanding whatsoever of how a luxury hotel in New York City should operate. They serviced my room at 3pm after I requested service at 10am and left left the room for two hours in order for it to be taken care of. I returned to a messy room and had attitudes when I requested that the remedy their error. No one, and I mean no one, that works here should be working in hospitality. Shocking.

- Robert (4/5): Wanted to love this place. - Great location . Spacious rooms. Nice staff despite understaffing in season. Historic cottages rooms were damp, dark and a bit sad. Pools are tiny and uninviting. When staff transferred our luggage from one room to another a small shopping bag with a hat and a beaded pin went missing. Management was unable to locate. Sloop service at breakfast. Up to 45 minutes for some food items.

The bed is very comfortable, and I especially loved the music in the room - such a thoughtful touch, with the perfect playlist. Breakfast was delicious, and the breakfast hall was everything. I’m still thinking about that big painting on the wall! Definitely coming back! I arrived an hour after the check in time, but my room still wasn’t ready. Unfortunately, I had to wait for almost another hour. As an apology, the staff offered me complimentary room service with anything on the menu. I had dinner, and it was delicious. Thanks again!

The property was beautiful. Our room was spacious and charming. Food was great. No complaints. I truly appreciate the architecture and attention to detail throughout, it’s a very beautiful hotel. The staff was very kind. If you’re considering staying here - do it!!!

- Samir (10/5): - I had an exceptional stay. The hotel itself is gorgeous so tastefully done. The bar is beautiful. The restaurant is fantastic. I loved my breakfast there every morning. My room was a good size. Very high ceilings comfortable bed and pillows beautiful bathroom. I never waited for the elevator, like you tend to do in every NY hotel. There is a cookie and glass bottled water every night. The mini bar is great. I will absolutely stay here again it's definitely more LES than Soho but a good location nonetheless. Kiki's, the Greek restaurant across the street is super popular and was cute and yummy.

- craigkN9215NY (10/5): First visit to Nine Orchard - It was our first visit to Nine Orchard. This is a fantastic boutique hotel. We booked a King Corner room which was very roomy. The bed was extremely comfortable with soft cotton sheets and a duvet. The bathroom was comfortable for two people and had a huge shower with great water pressure. A/C also worked well. Breakfast was amazing. The food was delicious and the staff was great. This has become our new “go to” hotel in New York City!

- cmwhitney6000 (10/5): Restful Retreat - Our son got married in New York in February, he treated his dad and me to three nights at Nine Orchard. We absolutely loved the hotel, I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed it. As a former bank building built in 1912, you will never see the beautiful craftsmanship in the room where we had our breakfast, ever again. Everyone we came in contact with, employee wise, was so nice, especially the young man originally from Mexico who served us breakfast. I wish I could remember his name. The young guys who opened the doors for us were so good humored, this old lady with a cane really appreciated them! Our room was lovely, the bed comfortable, and it was perfectly clean. Today I used the apples that were left for us in our room to make a tart for dessert. We’ll think about Nine Orchard as we have it tonight, and hope that someday we can come back!

- Sightseer824937 (10/5): New Favorite in NYC - Love this hotel. All the spaces were so well designed. The rooms were tasteful and not too busy and perfect for a good nights rest. I had dinner in the Swan Room and a burger at Corner Bar and both were excellent. The service was fantastic in all areas of the hotel. My room had an incredible view.

- Roxana (9/5): Special, quaint property in LES - Very beautiful, very clean property with helpful staff and quaint little details (gorgeous bath drawer pulls and towel hooks, quality linen storage pouches for hairdryer, nice ceramic toilet paper holder, for ex.). The room, while on the smaller side as expected in Manhattan, was very well designed and appointed, and the bathroom was one of the largest one we've seen in NYC. We loved the location, but word to the wise: this LES location is not for everyone, this is not your Times Square vibe hotel. Wish the bar/lounge would stay open a bit later, and that the rooftop would be available for more than just private events.
- Andley (10/5): Solid second stay - This was our second stay at Nine Orchard. For us, the location is the top reason for choosing this hotel. We prefer small, boutique hotels with beautiful interiors and subtle luxury. This trip we noticed a Louise Bourgeois spider print near the elevators. We just visited the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo with a wonderful Louise exhibit so we especially appreciated the print! Breakfast was excellent. We found that arriving by 8:00 am beat the rush. We were served each morning by Matilda, who was charming and remembered our preferences perfectly. We also enjoyed time on the second floor East Room while our room was serviced one afternoon. The fire felt great on a cold New York afternoon. The only negative for us this trip was the Swan Room. We had pre-dinner cocktails on Friday evening. My husband found a table at 5:00 pm. The only other patron was a man taking a zoom call without earphones. Right after being seated my husband was asked how long he planned to stay because the table was reserved at 8:30. Both times we have stayed at the hotel we have found the Swan Room staff unwelcoming. It really feels like a separate entity from the hotel and unfortunately reflects, for us, negatively on the overall experience.
- lindadetlefsen (10/5): Perfect for a Weekend Getaway! - This hotel is lovely. We stayed in a corner suite and enjoyed the extra space, comfortable bed, interior design, the books, and mini-bar treats. The hotel's architecture is interesting and beautiful--it used to be a bank. There's a sweet hang-out room on the 2nd floor, just perfect for coffee and working online. The restaurant is beautiful, as well, and the food didn't disappoint. Everyone was very professional, helpful, and nice. We parked nearby and used the subway to get around--one train right up to see a Broadway play. Mostly, we just relaxed in the hotel. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway.
- Christine (10/5): Boutique perfection - Wonderful experience - the a la carte breakfast in the gorgeous dining room was the absolute best. Hotel has loads of atmosphere and the lounge, complete with roaring fire, was perfect after a day out exploring NYC in the wintry weather. Rooms on the small side, but that is par for the course in NYC and perfectly laid out within their small footprint. The daily cookies and water were very much appreciated. Would definitely return. - 97quinnw (8/5): Beautiful Hotel w/Some Small Room for Improvement - This boutique property is beautiful and all of the finishing touches are thoughtfully designed. The staff are all extremely friendly and the Swan Room is gorgeous for a night cap after a day out in the city. Location Despite reading about this "gritty" location, we felt safe the duration of our stay. We walked through Chinatown and LES. Service Service was fantastic, maybe a little slow at times when needing things like ice for the room, but overall great. Included Breakfast We were told a few different things about breakfast which ultimately resulted in us paying for breakfast one morning that should have been covered with the room booking. Some staff would say you have to eat by 11, others would say by 10. Not a huge deal but there is room for improvement for consistent, accurate, communicaiton by all staff. Room Beautiful rooms, high ceilings, and fun custom music stations to play. My partner, who is tall, found the shower head to be a good height. However, the hallway noise is quite noticeable in the rooms. We ended up tucking a towel on the floor by our door in an effort to curb the noise we could hear. The swan room is beautiful and definitely worth a visit! We found the bartenders to be very friendly. Don't miss the space on the second floor for guests. There are cute tables, a fireplace, and games you can play.
- Nick (10/5): Enjoyable stay - The hotel had a welcoming atmosphere and all the hotel staff were friendly and attentive. Our room on the 11th floor was nice with a great bathroom. Liked the choice of the restaurant or bar for breakfast and the cocktails in the evening were appreciated. The complimentary wine between 5 and 6 in the evening was a nice thought in the East Room. The location downtown on the edge of chinatown suited us. The hotel was very well run and seemed genuinely interested in us and made us very welcome. Everything was fine

- R2269IHaw (8/5): Lush although not perfect - Pros: • The interiors are lush; the reception is small but does the job; the Swan Room (where I had breakfast) a true highlight; and the guest-only room on the second floor wonderful. • The bathroom was really good, it was spacious, clean, and the shower worked very well. Nice and simple, clean and tidy, spacious and nicely decorated. • The hotel has a boutique feel. The lifts are padded and very atmospheric • The bed was super comfy as were the pillows and the duvet. I was so comfortable. • The amenities were very good with water in the room, well stocked mini-fridge, and slippers and a bathrobe. • The hotel restaurant is a vibrant restaurant (Corner Bar) where I had a couple of good meals. • The location for the the museums I was interested in (The Tenement Museum and the Merchant’s House) • The staff’s friendliness was a little bit up to them, but some went above and beyond to get me on time to where I was going. Cons: • The room was very small and with two suitcases it was impossible to get stuff organised. There was hardly any wardrobe space, some hangers only and now shelves at all. Very limiting and I was travelling solo. If I was travelling with someone it’d be impossible. • As above, no cupboard, and hardly any wardrobe space • I don’t like food in the room so the cookies on the side table were not great for me. • The service was good, but my things kept moving. For one, my bed things were in two small bags, and they kept going on little excursions around the room daily. Once, instead of on the bed they were on the windowsill. Another time on the desk. I’m used to having my bed things kept on the bed after the bed is done. Similarly, I put the robe away from the hook by the toilet, but it kept reappearing there. • The slippers are flip-flops, not great and not very comfortable, didn’t use them. • There was loud music on when I came into the room, and I had to call the reception to find out how to turn it off. Some may find it atmospheric. I’m sound sensitive so it was uncomfortable. • The area is a little bit incongruent with the price point of the hotel. I found it a little intimidating particularly on my first night and it prevented me from my usual post-dinner walk. • As a solo traveller, I found the service in the Swan Room and the Corner Bar a bit of a hit and miss particularly in the evening. I was always offered an inferior table. When asked to be moved, I had to go through the rigmarole of ‘let me ask my superior’. This happened once even when the Corner Bar was empty and I early for my dinner. At the Swan Bar I just felt that larger parties were prioritised. • I was only told about the guest-only room on the last night which was a shame.
