- Verena (8/5): You get what you pay for - but great if you’re there to discover New York for cheap and still have a private room! - + great location (close to multiple bus and subway stops)
+ tiny rooms but if you‘re there to discover the city anyways, you don‘t need the most comfortable place or a huge room
+ fridge, freezer and microwave to use
+ small kitchen area to use
+ cheapest place to stay that’s not a dorm – bathroom is not great… but that mostly is because of the shower curtains! They really need to replace these - they’re moldy and gross
– no people working at the actual place, they work a few blocks away, wich is where you have to go to pick up the keys. But if you know about that it’s fine and there‘s a number to contact them :)
- Priyanshu (7/5): Good -
- Delaney (4/5): Disappointing -
- Yanan (5/5): Good budget place to stay in the city. Easy to travel to places in the city. - It's affordable. Location is great. Close to lower east side and many amazing food in Chinatown. Metro is near by. Wish there is a bit more space in the room to keep the luggage.
- Wai (9/5): Superb - The comment we saw after our booking was confirmed was dirty. But after our stay we found it very clean and tidy. The staff did very well to tell us everything.
- Krista (1/5): disappointing - the location was good, close to the subway. really dirty, dirty bathroom, dirty common areas, the window in the room was dark, no natural light in the room, mattresses dirty and stained, the pictures were misleading as we didn't expect it to look like that and that small. loud area as well, and every morning was woken up by screaming/ shouting coming from the alley.
- Laura (5/5): Passable -
- Isabella (7/5): Good - The place is near metro stations and bus stops. We could easily go anywhere. The air conditioner was not working correctly.
When we arrived the toilet was clogged but they solved the problem after reaching out to them.
- Alejandra (9/5): Superb - They were very nice They helped me and changed your room with no problems.... They have a stove but it wasn't working and they don't have anything to cook with...
- Chun (6/5): Will consider to stay there if visiting NYC next time - Location is good (near China town & subway).
Wifi is excellent.
Smooth check-in and check-out process.
Staff are nice and helpful.
Price is reasonable.
Clean room and toilet.
Provide free coffee & water in common area. A bit noisy in the morning / late night. If you are light sleeper, you may not sleep well.
You cannot expect too much for such a reasonable price.
- Noam (6/5): Pleasant - The apartments were in a good location The apartments were quite dirty and old need to have some renovations and to clean it properly
- Jake (3/5): Black Mold and painfully uncomfortable bed ruins what would've been a great value property. - Very nice gentleman who showed us to our apartment. Gave us tips of where to eat, and some details about the neighborhood as we walked to the units. He was the best part of the experience, no complaints with him. The neighborhood is a mixed bag, but I consider it a positive being next to a park, a subway station, and so many great food options. I will say the price would be a great value for 4-8 people, if it wasn't for the negatives below. Black. Mold. Plain and simple, its unacceptable to have at a vacation stay. Thankfully neither my wife or I are susceptible to respiratory issues, but I think having black mold is still unacceptable because it could cause long term harm or worst case scenario death to someone who does. It was found in the bathroom, and possibly on the A/C unit vents, but it very well could be a normal mildew on the A/C unit. Point stands, mold shouldn't be in the unit at all.
The only bed that was large enough for a couple was incredibly uncomfortable. It felt as if the mattress was so soft and used that everything underneath could be felt. What I felt was the metal frame of the bunk-futon combo under my back, which honestly caused me to never get a good nights sleep. My wife and I would've been better off just sleeping in seperate bunk beds, but thats not something we should have to do just to get a good nights sleep at a rental.
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Ankit (5/5): Apartment is clean and good but will suggest only for MALE considering location it is in. - location of the apartment is great. Its centrally located near huston river. You can easily walk to the Broklyn bridge/ Manhattan bridge in just 30 minutes. Aaprtment was clean. While location of the apartment is quite accessible and apartment inside is very clean, but outside locality is not the same. Also, the bunk bed was located in way which made the use of stair to access upper bed difficult. Lastly, for the price we paid, i would have expected at least a decent Air conditioner, not a $120 air conditioner which use to take a lot of time to adjust the temperature of the room. Person sleeping on lower mattress was most affected
- Aleksander (10/5): Exceptional - Man with the keys was our amazing guide that was super kind! All was perfect
- Anja (6/5): Pleasant - We had low expectations since the reviews about the hygienic situation were quite bad. But everything was alright: clean room, clean bedstuff, big fridge, everything you need in the kitchen (microwave, plates, cuttlery, water-heater…). The bathroom is tiny, but alright. You get fresh towels, there is enough toiletpaper available. So the apartment is way nicer than one would think after reading a view reviews and was perfect for our low budget stay in NYC for one week. The only problem are certain apartment-mates that obviously never learned how to behave in shared rooms. Especially one group of german youngsters was extremly annoying: leaving their food rests in the kitchen, maybe waiting for some maid to clean it up, leaving a disgusting bathroom-situation with hair all over the shower, the sink and the floor. So THAT is the only problem when living in a shared apartment: egoistic and rude others. But we also met very nice people there!
- Paweł (10/5): You get what you pay for - Lokalizacja, cena Czystość
- Nino (1/5): Bad - I would not recommend this apartment because the room was very small and extremely dirty. I had to dust it myself. There was no wardrobe or shelf where I could unpack my clothes. The staff was nice and the location was good, but the room was ugly.
- Will (6/5): Pleasant - Location and value. Staff nice and walked us to it out of their way. Gave us good explanation on usage of apartment. Shower could have been a little cleaner, it’s dark inside.
- Valentina (6/5): Pleasant - Location nice even if at night sketchy The shower wasnt clean but apart from that no animals or stuff like that
- Jerome (7/5): Good -
- Nick (8/5): Very good - Based on the charge, room was overall good. Not much space to move around the room and sufficient amount of dust in the floor, back we could handle it. Less than 5 minutes away from closest subway station. Beds were pretty convenient.
- Jhulia (10/5): Good and cheap for short trip! - The location is great. It’s like 5 min walking away from subway station. There’s a Hispanic and Chinese grocery store at the corner. It’s nice for travel (shower and sleep). There are blankets, heaters, toilet paper, towels, sheets, hair dryer available. there are 3 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom are share (I didn’t know before). There’s stove but not pans. It can improve the cleaning a little.
- Donovan (4/5): Cheap and dirty apartment close to the metro station within walking distance - Even though we knew it would not be a luxurious place because we wanted to save money, when we got there, there was a lot of trash in the hall before getting to the actual shared apartment. That made our 1st impression negative because of the bad smell. The metro station was close, within walking distance and we loved that. There were many not-fancy but tremendous and helpful stores to buy clothing and breakfast. We recommend Granddaddy's to go for a bagel. The experience would’ve been better if it had been clean for my mom and me. Also, we had to pick up the keys at another place and then walk a lot to the apartment, and that 1st place gave us a wrong impression.
- Anonymous (2/5): Very poor -
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Jacob (1/5): Disgusting, mouldy, cockroaches, blood stains on mattress. - N/A. Cockroaches everywhere. Black mould on the walls. Blood stains on the mattress.
- Ian (4/5): Great location, everything else.. meh - The general location was great, lower manhattan, really not far from everywhere it was a dirty, dingy apartment, it wasn't made clear that it was a shared apartment. the area immediately outside and around the apartment was downbeat to say the least, dirty streets and a lot of homeless people, although it didn't feel unsafe at all.
- Flavie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luka (4/5): Dirty place with good potential - Only the price and location were acceptable everything else was terrible. Cleanliness of room and shared facilities especially bathroom was below any expectation. Shower was extra dirty, bath tub is full of mold.. They say that the apartment is equipped with towels but they are just towels left by previous guests. Kitchen floor was full of hair, dust and dirt to that extent that we had to use vacuum cleaner and clean it by ourselves.
In general place looks like nobody invested in it for at least 20 years.
Advice for future guests, brinf your towel, slippers and pillow case.
- Iuliia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Izak (8/5): Very good -
- Molly (5/5): Passable - Good location, comfy beds, felt like a safe area There was a mouse on the kitchen counter, photo shows mouse droppings in the kitchen, stove didn’t work, the bathroom and kitchen were dirty
- Thijs (8/5): Great value for price - Price, location and service The beds were squeaking and you’re sharing the bathroom
- Jason (8/5): The apartment was convenient and offered a good value. - Very accessible and comfortable. The location was very convenient. The woman on the phone was very helpful with arrangements prior to arrival. Softer pillows would’ve been nice.
- Ventura (8/5): A great place to stay among friends. Near subway station, great location and amazing staff. - The location is excellent! You're near Chinatown and Little Italy and close to the subway station. The staff Pink was amazing during the checkin. She showed us the best places to enjoy around the neighborhood and was kind the whole time. The apartment has a lot of facilities that made our stay comfortable. Our room was clean and the AC worked perfectly. As the apartment is closer to the market of Chinatown, the streets are always dirty in the end of the day. But on the following morning they always wash the sidewalks and collect the garbage. The bathroom is shared and a deep clean would made our experience even better.
- Sandra (6/5): Pleasant -
- Leanne (5/5): Passable - Good value for money to have a shared kitchen and bathroom in New York. The streets around it feel slum-like.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erin (2/5): Very poor - near good food felt unsafe and uncomfortable
- Bernardo (1/5): It is the most filthy and disgusting place I have ever been to. DON'T STAY THERE! - It's located two blocks away from Grand St. subway station, which made it convenient to leave the area as soon as possible. It's cheap, but don't be deceived. This is not a typical case of "you get what you pay for" - this property is a health hazard! Please avoid it! It's not worth it!
The shared bathroom had never been cleaned during the entire week I spent there, and when I arrived, it was already repulsive, so it was sickening! It was really disgusting!
The area seems unsafe, with a nearby park where illegal activities appear to be taking place - EXTREMELY SHADY.
The check-in process was frustrating, confusing, and lengthy - at a different address than advertised. We had to lug our luggage through Chinatown, following the only staff member I saw, who could barely communicate in English and was rather rude. He rushed us and would sometimes disappear from sight during the 3-block dreadful walk from the check-in location to where we were supposed to stay - I would describe it as stressful and frightening.
I tried several times to contact the only provided phone number to figure out which address I should be at, but I never got a response. Honestly, I had to rely on trial and error and ask around until I found it - it was insane and didn't live up to any of my previous experiences with Booking.
- Monica (5/5): Passable -
- Marta (6/5): Not clean apartment on good location for good money. - Location is great and it is good place to stay for the money. We arrived at 3 in the morning and they checked us in for just 15 dollar fee. It wasn’t clean, survices were dusty, bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly. There were just 1 sharp knife and 1 butter knife, no forks, 2 cups and absolutely no pots or pans. Washing machine was listed but wasn’t there.
- David (7/5): Good - Great value and good location. No complaints for the price and the staff were very helpful.
- Silva (5/5): Passable -
- Somchart (3/5): Poor -
- Karen (1/5): Bad - It was really dirty, dangerous area, not comfy at all, so loud during the night. I wouldn’t recommend it.
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Alina (5/5): Passable - Location
- Anna (3/5): Poor - Dirty and felt insecure
- Nathan (10/5): Basic accommodation that exceeded expectations. - Excellent for the price. I had my own private room in a shared apartment. This was basic accommodation, but the the bed was very comfortable and the apartment itself was clean and supplied with toiletries and towels. The apartment was cleaned during my stay and an issue with a blocked toilet was dealt with promptly.
Location wise, the Bowery may not be the prettiest place in New York but there are lots of bars and places to eat around and it is very convenient for getting uptown or downtown, or across to Brooklyn.
This accommodation exceeded my expectations all round. There wasn't really much natural light in the accommodation.
- Mora (4/5): Disappointing -
- Георги (10/5): Exceptional -
- Álvaro (8/5): Location and price very reasonable for NYC. Close to the subway. Good choice for a cheap place. If you are looking for c - The price is fair. The building has a very old and dirty, specially outside the apartment.
- Anonymous (4/5): it was ok for what we needed, a place to sleep, but I don’t think I would go back - The only thing I like about this property is that was close to the metro station and the was easy to get everywhere around the NY So this place wasn’t clean. The bathroom and the kitchen were awful. When someone checks out and the staff comes to clean they clean just the room. We stay with 3 boys and after they left no one came to clean the place. The room was really small, we were 3 ppl and barely can move there. I know it’s NY and it’s true that for 3 nights that close to the center was a good deal about the money but still sometimes you need conditions too.
- Wolfgang (8/5): Very good -
- Kegyes (10/5): It was worth staying there for two nights! - The staff was really kind and helpful, we’ve got lots of information about New York, about the subway system and the lady guided us to our apartment even if it was quite far from the reception area. The strongest point of the apartment is its location (5 min to the subway) and that it was really cheap. We had a functional AC, a clean kitchen with a fridge, microwave, tea, coffee and basic utensils. The bathroom was also clean. We had some bird feathers in the room but the lady from the reception cleaned them the moment she observed them. The bad was uncomfortable but acceptable for that price.
- Geoff (7/5): Good - Great location, clean comfortable
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - very small rooms but it was acceptable, clean and cozy and very cheap in good location
- Lara (6/5): Pleasant - Room was clean, apartment was cleaned daily, location was amazing You get what you pay for. This isn't luxurious but affordable for NYC, staff were very friendly and we felt comfortable staying there. But don't expect anything too amazing.
