• Georgi (7/5): This is a nice, reasonably priced hotel. - The location is excellent, central yet quiet. The floor had not been washed, but the bedding was clean and the furniture brand new. The staff are very helpful: if the room is not ready yet, they would offer to store your luggage for free. There is a nice pub attached to the hotel. It would not have been hard to wash the floor and clean the toilet bowls.

• Blanka (1/5): Really the most disgusting place I have ever been. - the dirtiest and most unpretentious accommodation I have ever stayed in the world The host did not send information about the reservation, they did not respond to my messages sent through booking, I had to wait at the gate for a long time before someone answered the phone. Other guests reported the same experience. The room was smelly and incredibly dirty, as if it had not been cleaned at all, although these few square meters would not have been difficult. Neither the towels nor the bed linen were clean, I think they had not been changed since the previous guests. There was bedbug droppings on the wall and the bed. The toilet and bathroom were also dirty, the dirt was stuck to it.

• Morrison (7/5): Quiet, calm, decent value for money. - The place was very quiet which was a huge positive. I have no complaints about the cleanliness. Great central location! Plug outlet locations were a little impractical being that they were not situated next to both beds. An upside would be that the beds were comfortable and the place was quiet. No general use kitchen was also a negative but not the end of the world.

They were not clean. It was impossible to reach out the staff/owner of the facility. I have not received and responses to my messages/calls. When l arrived l had to wait for 3 hours outside because l was not informed that l was going to check in at 3 pm!!

• Olayinka (10/5): A nice place to spend a quiet night. - Spacious for an hostel. The bathrooms are clean and the Internet was super good. Hostel was also quiet and enjoyable for anyone who has an online meeting. Locating the property might be a little problematic. However calling the reception number helped in this regard.
• Joshua (8/5): Cosy and affordable - Clean place with cosy room, toilets and showers where easy to use and the location was accessible as it was close to the underground. Was stuck for about 10mins trying to find the place as it’s part of a restaurant which wasn’t stated, but wasn’t much of an issue.

• Julia (7/5): Ein Bett und Dach über dem Kopf, nur keinen Komfort erwarten - Freundliche Gastgeberin und super Lage: gut zu erreichen und nicht weit vom Bahnhof. Viele Imbisse vor der Haustür. Ein Dach über dem Kopf, wenn man eins braucht. Die Hochbetten sind vielleicht für manche sehr hoch, man muss etwas klettern, für uns war das kein Problem. Zugang über einen ruhigen Innenhof. Unproblematischer Check-In. Insgesamt eine gute Bleibe für eine Nacht oder wenn man last minute etwas sucht, ohne den größten Komfort zu erwarten. Die Zimmer sind mit dem Nötigsten ausgestattet. Man teilt den Gang und das Bad mit etwa 4-5 anderen Zimmern. Toiletten und Duschen sind im Untergeschoss. Generell nicht super sauber, Schimmel in den Duschen und je nach Reinlichkeit der anderen Gäste sind die Toiletten in annehmbaren Zustand oder auch nicht. Die Zimmertür schloss nicht ganz und die Wände sind sehr dünn, man hört also alles. Außerdem sieht man das Flurlicht durch die Fenster zum Gang angehen, wenn jemand kommt. Dementsprechend Ohrenstöpsel und Schlafmaske mitbringen! Matratzen sind so mittel bequem, recht dünn.

No entanto, assim que ligámos para o nr de telemovel, o senhor ajudou-nos (e atendeu) logo e encaminhou-nos para uma senhora (a sua mulher), que nos fez o check in. Esta senhora foi bastante simpática, inclusive explicou-nos o que havia ali ao redor para ver, como era a zona e fez-nos uma tour pelo hotel. Muito bom! As toalhas que nos deram eram de mãos, não eram toalhas de banho.

• Jasmine (1/5): BEDBUGS DO NOT STAY HERE - The room was initially not entirely terrible, the photos advertised online didn’t appear to have a window whereas our room did, and the beds were study and didn’t squeak. However, the negatives of the property massively outweigh any value for money. Firstly, there is no indication online of how to actually check in and enter the hotel, and it was only after checking other reviews that we realised you need to go into a nearby bar/restaurant to check in. This also means that there is no front desk after this place closes. We could’ve looked past just this if it weren’t for us finding BEDBUGS in the bed. By this time, it was almost midnight and as two young females, we didn’t feel safe leaving at that time to find somewhere else to stay, especially as the hotel’s location doesn’t feel like the safest area, so I ended up spending a very uncomfortable night in the floor since we were unable to go and tell anyone about the bugs. The next morning we decided to go and get a new hotel, despite paying for another night, and after looking at other reviews it seemed like no staff cared about the issue so we didn’t bother speaking to anybody and just left. I would absolutely recommend that you do not come here!! No front desk, you have to walk through a urine-smelling alleyway to get to the building, toilets aren’t the cleanest, and even if you could look past all that (which we were happy to), there are bedbugs, so although at first we thought we’d found a bargain hotel, we ended up spending much more money on a last-minute hotel booking on top of what I had paid just to sleep on the floor (also ruining one of our days in Berlin due to lack of sleep and stress), than if we’d just have paid a tiny bit more money initially. Again, do not come here!!
• Paula (7/5): Bueno, bonito y barato - El precio y la ubicación. Los comentarios lo pintaban súper sucio y con pulgas y para nada. Estaba súper aseado y un sitio ideal para gente joven con poco presupuesto. Lo recomiendo! Las camas y las almohadas. Faltaba secador para el pelo porque hacia frio.

I really liked the self check in so it did no matter what time you checked in as we were quite late. It was very comfy, cosy and the space and cleanness with the toilets and showers was great. Das es manchmal nur Hochbetten -ohne eine Schlafgelegenheit unten - gibt, wird nicht deutlich genug kommuniziert.

Det kunde ha varit mer information om vart vi skulle checka in, men läste de andra kommentarerna och hittade info där om att vi skulle gå till puben och anmäla ankomst där. Efter det blev det väldigt enkelt med information och rundvisning av en otroligt trevlig kvinna. Rätt lyhört mellan rummen, men öronproppar fixade det problemet. Var beredd på att använda musklerna när du ska i och ur sängarna. Man får det man betalar för.

Cerca estaba el supermercado EDEKA, el cual tiene muy buenos precios y nos salvó varios desayunos y cenas Era un poco incómodo el tener que bajar al baño y las camas son demasiado altas. Tambien es un poco incómodo todo el tema de las llaves.

Personalet var tilgængelig på telefonen. Meget svært at finde stedet - indgang ligger i baggården samt ingen vejledning om hvordan vi fik adgang til nøgleboksen. Da vi ringede til personalet sendte de dog hurtigt en besked via booking.com med detaljerne. *Meget lydt - husk ørepropper.

• Skye (6/5): Fine for short stay - It was well placed near clubs, shops and museums island, and served its purpose as a place to sleep. There are no bedbugs unlike it said in previous reviews. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly, kept our luggage, and let us borrow a knife to make sandwiches. The toilets are communal in the basement. The trains were very loud so bring earplugs. It was also very warm and the fan in our room was broken.

• Gambardella (5/5): Not my cup of tea - The room was very close to the city center and it was somehow comfortable I got a very basic accomodation, as it was advertised 1. The pictures on Booking were misleading: there were no bottom beds and I had to climb up the ladder every night to go to sleep, despite being tired and overweight. It was a bit dangerous and I hoped to find more open information about this detail before booking. Moreover, there was no light switch near the beds so I had only two choices: to climb up to the top bed with my cell phone torch on or to sleep with the lights on. 2. I did not receive precise information about how to get to the location until very late at night. I had to phone the structure to know that the address on Booking and the real address doesn't match. Then, the instructions I received were in German (I'm not a German speaker, I was only a tourist) and I had to use Google Translate to understand them. 3. I hoped for cleaner sheets but the cleaning situation wasn't too bad
• Rachael (1/5): Our stay was very unpleasant, I wouldn’t recommend - the bathroom was the only clean thing the room had not been cleaned in a long time, there were no check in instructions, the person we eventually found didn’t speak any english. The neighbourhood was very dodgy and we generally felt unsafe staying here. We ended up booking a different place for our stay in berlin after a couple hours here.

I booked in advance, but when we arrived at the property, there was no one there, and no one answered the phone number or our messages on Booking.com for check-in. It was winter and freezing cold, so after waiting for a while, we decided to find alternative accommodation. The next day, we were able to reach someone on the provided phone number, who acknowledged they had seen our messages but didn't respond earlier. They apologized, confirmed that we would receive a full refund via Booking.com, and mentioned they were aware of the situation. However, after several attempts to contact Booking.com over the following days, we were informed that "Living in the Box" had provided alternate accommodation, so we would not be receiving the promised refund. This experience was unprofessional and unacceptable. This property should be removed from Booking.com.
• Pablo (4/5): Disappointing - The place was hard to find. The make it appear as a "hostel" but it's just a room in a house with no sign, no office, no desk. There was also no kitchen for the customers.
• Patrick (5/5): The cost is halfway between a youth hostel and low cost hotel and that’s the standard. - Room was clean, shared bathroom clean, location 30 minutes walk to museum island. Nice bakery across the street open 6 to 11. No windows, artificial light, noisy - you can hear snoring from other rooms and voices are loud every time someone enters the building, need earplugs, street is pretty grotty - lot of graffiti and cigarette butts on street.

• Katharina (2/5): Terrible nightmare experience - Don’t go there! This place has many bed bugs!! We asked the owner to do something about it, and he just fobbed us off. First of all, it was incredibly hard to reach him, he also did not reply to the booking.com costumer service messages. Then we finally got him on the phone. He cut us off in the middle of the sentence and shortly after just hang up! For his own sake, he should treat guests appropriately and make sure the place is getting rid of this nightmare bed bugs.
• Janneke (6/5): You get what the name suggests: a box. We were lucky to get the room with the window, the other rooms don’t have one. Th - Close to a S-bahnhof, it was affordable, the lady that helped us was nice. The mattresses are old and uncomfortable, the room is small.

The smell was terrible in the room and in the corridor, we had to cover our noses most of the time..Our stay was dissapointing because of the terrible smell and a neighbor who was caughing and throwing up both nights, so we slept quite badly.
• John (6/5): Basic in Berlin - The hostel is in a good location about 20 minutes away from the East Side Gallery and Berlin Wall, and we were able to see all the sights in a day easily. The place itself is really hard to find in a graffiti covered alley, especially in the dark haha. It's a really basic hostel and the showers downstairs had a tendency to get blocked.
