Guest Reviews
- Brian (4/5): -
- Bell (10/5): The best time - The bar was brilliant, the people who work at the bar are amazing, Kai, Sabrina, Ken, Yu and Yumi do the best job The power sockets were not strong enough to charge my stuff
- Millat (6/5): -
- Tessa (4/5): Overpriced because filthy and lack of maintenance - This hostel has a downstairs bar that offers a free small beer which draws people to meet each other. The girl working the bar is very friendly. You can meet nice people in many hostels though and besides this bar there is no hosting of the atmosphere. It is a bit further from the action and there are options that are also in a further out neighbourhoods but are on better cross points of public transport.
I paid 40 euro a night for a bed in a 4bed dorm room. The hostel was absolutely gross and during my 3 nights there, there was no sign that any cleaning was done. Bins overflowing, sinks not draining, wads of hair on the floor, gunk from over a longer time period not doing any thorough cleaning. The hostel is well set up and built, with nice wide beds, but at the moment it is not being loved. A toilet seat that was fully seperate from the toilet wasn't repared etc.
There is only a downstairs door that can lock (no locks on the room doors) and Japan is very safe, but there often is no staff during staffed hours and daytime the downstairsdoor is open, anyone could wander into any of the rooms.
- Anya (8/5): A nice place to stay 😊 - Close to a lot of central sights like Senso-ji, Ueno koen, etc. Not too far of a walk to konbinis and the train station. Staff were all super nice and friendly, i loved them all. Free beer at the bar every night was a nice bonus. The beds were spacious and comfortable, and had space for luggage storage around the bed, too.
First hostel i've stayed at in Japan that seems a lot more relaxed and more western style. The bathroom sinks and showers on the girl's floor were not clean at all.
As far as i could tell there were no laundry facilities.
Once the bar closes at 11pm, there's not really anywhere to socialise in the hostel.
The beds at the end of the room next to the windows get significantly more sunlight than the others, so i had to use a sleep mask.
- Alina (8/5): - It’s very social, fun and cozy. I would definitely stay here again.
The location was also a perfect choice for me: the streets are quiet and empty at night, but you can still find nice places to go out. It’s impressively dirty. A loooot of dust under the mattress, the showers are full of hair and mold. One of the sinks on the third floor can’t be used because it’s clogged. (I stayed one week and the showers weren’t cleaned once)
If cleanliness is important for you, maybe you won’t be happy there.

- Delphine (5/5): - It's dirty : the floor is sticky, the kitchen is not clean I didn't want to cook there, the showers are moldy, my mattress had a stain, and the bed had dust and hair.
- Vanja (4/5): Bad communication, unorganized, not clean - The beds were comfortable I stayed at the hostel for five nights and I don’t think the floor or the sinks etc were cleaned a single time. The sinks were clogged and really dirty, showers full of mold. The worst part though was the communication and how unorganized it all felt. I arrived before check in to leave my bags. I couldnt find anyone working there even though the reception was supposed to be open (it was dark and locked, so there really wasnt anyone there) but the doors to the dorms and common areas were open so I could just walk in and leave my bags in the livingroom. I tried to contact them but didn’t get an answer until many hours later, around midnight. It didn’t really feel safe leaving my bags unattended with anyone being able to just walk in, but I didn’t know what else to do. I came back at 15:00 at check in time, but the reception was still closed, still no answers. At midnight they wrote me that I had to come to the reception the day after at the reception hours to properly check in and show them my passport. This really messed with my plans that day and I had to take a one hour train back to the hostel just to show them my passport. And even then: there was no one there!!! I went around looking at the different floors and dorms and finally found someone so that I could check in. With that said, this was one of the worst hostel experiences I’ve had.
- KYAW (7/5): -
- Nicole (5/5): It was fun! - Location was in a nice part of Tokyo, staff was nice and easy to meet new people, especially if you are traveling solo. Mixed dorm had an odor, but that cant be helped. Keep in mind no elevator. No the cleanest place but
- Thorstein (7/5): Good social but dirty hostel - The staff were nice and the bar were a good place to socialize, definitely a good social hostel.
Not to far from metro station. Most of the hostle is acceptable clean but could will do with more general cleaning, lot of dust and stairs that need a very deep scrup. Also mold in the showers.
- Mélanie (10/5): -
- Matt (7/5): -
- René (8/5): - the bar really brings people togetber, and Sabrina is such a sunshine :)
the organized going to the restaurant together was alao nice.
spaceous showers its dusty all over and no one seems to care about it.
the place seems quite dark in general
- Yuri (8/5): -
- Riccardo (10/5): -
- Brandon (2/5): Stay at NUI if you can. - - The people staying at the hostel were cool and friendly.
- They had lockers with a key to store small valuables
- free beer (small cup) - Tried to do luggage drop off at ten when the office was supposed to be open but no one was there.
- They charge you 100 yen to rent a towel.
- The showers and restrooms are not cleaned regularly
- The common area was cold and uninviting.

- Sabrina (10/5): -
- Nicolas (2/5): - Unfortunately one of the worst hostels I have ever stayed in.
The hostel has a bar that is quite busy in the evenings (presumably with hostel guests). So it’s probably a good place to meet people.
The Wi-Fi also works very well.
The showers are generally good and provide shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. However, there is a lot of mold in the showers, and one evening and one morning the water was cold.
On the upper floor, the water in one of the sinks does not drain properly.
The dorm (10-bed) was a disaster. The individual cabins smelled very musty, and the dorm itself smelled quite bad. The worst part were the mattresses. In cabin 501 there is such an old mattress that you can feel every single spring in it. The other cabins didn’t look much better either. The mattresses are so bad that you can’t sleep because of the back pain. Some of the pillows are completely worn out.
Additionally, the washroom on level 5 of the hostel was very cold.
Staff members are hardly ever around, which has also been mentioned in other reviews.
For the same price, there are several hotels and hostels that offer much more comfort.
We originally planned to stay there for six nights. After the first night, we decided to change our plans because of the hostel and asked if it would be possible to cancel the remaining nights. This was declined, which is understandable in principle. However, a bit more goodwill would certainly have contributed to a better stay. As it was, the accommodation put a major damper on what was otherwise a very nice trip to Tokyo.
Absolutely not recommended!

- Johanna (10/5): Great location and great staff! - Everything was great! I liked everything!
- Dyck (2/5): Stay anywhere else - Not much to say Honestly one of the worst stays of my life. Left after the first night. This place is disgusting, the room was freezing cold, and the beds uncomfortable. I am genuinely shocked anyone is giving this place a positive review. There are other social hostels that aren’t filled with mold

- Ronan (9/5): - The staff was the best part of the stay. Very helpful and friendly. It was a very welcoming environment. Not to mention the bar downstairs was always nice. I can't say much on this because the whole stay was very nice, but if pressed i'd say the beds were a bit cramped, but i can't complain because the price was very good. All in all, i'd say it was a good first choice for any first time solo travelers like myself
- Charlotte (10/5): -
- Calvin (3/5): This place has an 8+ rating because of reviews made years ago. The showers are infested with mold - don’t be surprised i - Staff were nice Pretty much everything else
- Antarik (10/5): Comfortable stay, bar is great for socialising - Located just a short 3-4 min walk from the Iriya subway station, this was a very comfortable stay - I slept very well after the long flight. The staff was fun to interact with, the included free drink is a great conversation starter at the bar every evening. Clean washrooms. Warm room. The area has limited food options around, but with a little bit of looking around you can find some nice ones. Found a local ramen place a short 5 min walk from the hostel and had a great meal.

- Casper (10/5): Couldn’t leave - too much fun - Best staff ever
- Lucas (10/5): -
- Eve (10/5): Loved it - would stay here again! - I loved the social aspects of the hostel - a free welcome drink every night meant it was really easy to strike up conversations with other travellers. The air con wasn’t the strongest so it felt really warm in the room. The location isn’t the most accessible but there is a metro at the end of the street so that helps.
- Willem (9/5): Superb - Great staff, great social atmosphere. I even extended my stay 3 times. Fair prices aswell in the bar. They could use a coffee/tea machine during the day as the bar opens up at 18.00.
- Jakub (8/5): Nice stay! - Very very nice staff, good location, bed was clean, everything you need was there. The bar was nice and it was easy to talk to other people. The hostel wasn’t very clean in general (the bed itself was clean and hygienic).
- James (5/5): Passable -
- Manohar (8/5): Very good - No utensils in kichen
- Marie-lee (8/5): Very good -
- Emilee (10/5): Perfect landing spot in Tokyo - A great place! The facilities were great. It's a wonderful place to connect with other travelers. The staff is very friendly. Little bar downstairs is a great gathering spot.
It's a good location. Close to a train but also walking distance to a number of attractions. Nice quiet neighborhood. It would be nice if the rooftop area was open.
- Tomer (7/5): Good - Very social and friendly staff. Feels very cosy. Not located in a central area of Tokyo, not so clean compared to Japan standards but still nice nevertheless
- Jessie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vera (10/5): An awesome time I wish could have stayed longer. - The place is such a nice vibe and a great place to meet people. The beds weren’t the comfiest but for the location it can’t be beat as a hostel.
- Findlay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jia (8/5): Very good -
- Rakib (10/5): Exceptional -
- Himesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): If you want to meet people and have a fun time in Tokyo - this is a great option! - Fantastic staff! Great social vibe. Awesome area of the city - easy access via transport or walk to great sights
- Robert (10/5): Dozo yoroshiku - Very social hostel, with the best staff and friendly travellers. Great nights out with Kai and the gang. Comfy beds. Good showers. Location is top, quiet area but very easy to get around with excellent transport links. The snake liquor
- Johanna (9/5): Superb - Nice Hostel, with activities and a nice bar, very good to connect with others
Kind and helpful personal
- Jonathan (2/5): Very poor -
- Caroline (7/5): It was nice, just a few minor issues. - Very nice staff The lights kept flicking off in the bathroom despite being on. No hot water from the sink. The bedroom was freezing; I had to use all the sheets I was given, put on my pull over, and my heavy coat over the sheets to try to get somewhat warm.
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - Such a fun social and comfortable hostel! Common areas could be tidier
- Patrícia (7/5): Good -
- Carlo (10/5): Top-notch spot for making mates and swapping stories - A place that’s equal parts cozy, social, and ever-so-slightly chaotic. Bedgasm as the name says it all - it’s euphoric mix of comfy bed and good vibes. The atmosphere? Buzzing! The staff? Absolute legends! If you fancy a hostel that feels like a mate’s place but with cleaner sheets, this is the one. 10/10 would be Bedgasm again.
- Markéta (10/5): Exceptional - Manager Kai was absolutely awesome, friendly, perfect English:)
- Arianna (10/5): Recommended - Started my Japan trip at Bedgasm and spent 11 nights there, I already miss it, the vibes are great, the staff is super nice and friendly and it's a great place to socialize thanks to the bar on the first floor.
Got close to many people and so many ended up extending their stay!
Location in really nice, close to Ueno and Asakusa, away from the chaos but it's easy to reach it with the closest metro stop being just a 6min walk away.
No elevator but everyone helps each other with the luggages up and down the stairs.
The room (girls only on 3F) is comfy, beds are spacious and it's warm, there's even a vanity area with lit up mirrors.
Will def go back my next time in Tokyo. If I have to find a small flaw is that the bathrooms/showers area is very cold (in january at least)
- Kanami (10/5): Exceptional - Good vibe, friendly staff A little bit far from JR station
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The staff here is the best there is! Very welcoming bar and commonroom as well. Big recommendation!
- Ameline (7/5): Good - Great place for foreigners. Good location and you can easily make friends here. Bunks are very spacious. There's also events you can sign up for.
