• Guilherme (5/5): - A localização é boa, perto da Hollywood boulevard e o preço é bom. Banheiro muito sujo, fiquei 5 dias e limparam apenas uma vez. Tinha uma pessoa que parece que mora no hostel e não um viajante comum. Ele ficava abrindo a porta, mesmo numa noite chuvosa e de muito frio.

• Jack (2/5): - I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience genuinely shocked me. During my previous stay, the owner approached me and said that my feet smelled and that other guests had complained. This was deeply embarrassing and handled in a way that felt unnecessary and humiliating. I showered daily, maintained proper hygiene, and even placed my shoes outside at the owner’s request. Despite complying fully, I was made to feel singled out and uncomfortable. That alone would have been unpleasant but manageable. What is completely unacceptable is what happened next. I booked again for tonight. The booking was confirmed. Only later did they realise it was me and then messaged to say I was no longer allowed to stay — effectively cancelling at the last minute and leaving me stranded without accommodation. Cancelling a confirmed booking because you recognise a guest is unprofessional and irresponsible. Doing so on the same day of arrival shows a complete lack of basic hospitality standards. Whatever their concerns were, they had every opportunity to decline the booking in advance. Confirming and then withdrawing once they realised who I was is discriminatory and demonstrates poor management. I would strongly caution future guests. Even if you follow their rules and requests, you may still be made to feel unwelcome — and worse, have your confirmed reservation cancelled at the last minute

• Aleksandar (7/5): - Great location, in a quiet area yet close to everything you might need. The place is basically a house where some long-term guests live, so there aren’t many typical backpackers around. The atmosphere is home-like and calm, which can be nice if you’re looking for peace and quiet. The rules are a bit unusual but they do make sense in their own way. The kitchen is covered by cameras so people don’t take someone else’s food which I actually find reasonable. However, the strict no-alcohol policy feels a bit extreme. Even bringing a single beer can get you kicked out, which is a pity because the backyard is lovely and would be perfect for a relaxed evening drink. A big plus is that the hostel is flexible with payments they don’t charge your card in advance, and you can also pay in cash upon arrival. That’s rare in L.A., where more and more places refuse cash, which I personally find nonsensical. As for the facilities, the house is old and clearly worn down — squeaky floors, faucets that don’t always work properly (cold water doesn’t run if you turn on only the cold tap). The ceiling in the kitchen leaks because of the bathroom above, so there’s a bucket standing there every day to catch the dripping water. The kitchen can get really messy and dirty, which luckily didn’t bother me much since I didn’t cook or use it. You get one towel for your entire stay. The lockers are tiny, more like small boxes — not even big enough for a backpack — and there are no locks provided, so you’ll need to bring or buy your own. Overall, it’s a quiet place with kind hosts, but with odd rules, poor maintenance, and clear signs of age and neglect. If you just need a peaceful, no-frills stay, it’s fine but if you’re looking for a real hostel atmosphere, you might want to look elsewhere.
• Andrea (10/5): Hosts were extremely nice, straight to the point, got to meet people from other places, talk with them. It was fun! :) I - It was at an extremely convenient location, it is spacious, big, old yes but I love old houses so I enjoyed everything about it! Beautiful home Hmmmm maybe just the squeaky floors as I like to be considerate of others so I take off big shoes, BUT it’s an old home! Regardless, I truly enjoyed my little time here.

• Zanchetta (9/5): Excelente acomodação, bem bonita e tranquila. - A acomodação é bem bonita, com localização próxima à Calçada da Fama e conta com vários banheiros muito bons. Senti falta de tomadas próximas às camas. Precisei mudar a cama que havia escolhido inicialmente pq não havia tomada por perto para carregar meu celular. Se colocarem 1 tonada perto de cada cama disponível aí o lugar se tornará perfeito.

• Jay (9/5): Overall I was satisfied - The hostel was located in a residential area, so it had a quiet and cozy atmosphere, and the staff was very kind. The male staff member working on the day I visited was extremely kind, explaining how to use the facilities and where they were. I want to thank him again for being so kind and welcoming without showing any sign of inconvenience, even though I arrived late at night. Overall, I was satisfied, so it's hard to point out any downsides. However, it was mentioned that breakfast would be provided, but it wasn't.

Propietario gentile e disponibile. Nella camerata poche opzioni di appoggio come mensole per le proprie cose o appendiabiti. Peccato per la mancata pulizia, bagni sporchi e cucina anche , unto un po' ovunque, pezze per lavare e pulire i propri piatti al limite dell'utilizzabile. Peccato perché se non fosse stato per questo avremmo sicuramente dato un voto migliore all'esperienza, consiglio di porre più attenzione alla pulizia di bagni e cucina.

• Alisson (10/5): - Minha passagem pelo The California foi sensacional! Já passei por alguns hostel em outros países mas esse foi o que mais me identifiquei! A proprietária me fez sentir em casa. Me senti tranquilo. A localização, instalações, segurança e conforto tudo excelente! Os hóspedes totalmente maduros. Tudo foi perfeito. Já estou ansioso pra voltar!

Ubicado cerca de Hollywood y de otras atracciones para el tu - El alojamiento es cómodo y cuenta con lo básico para pasar una estadía tranquila y agradable. El olor en la casa, parece ser la madera del piso que desprende un olor fuerte. Aunque la casa está ubicada en una cuadra agradable por el sector hay muchos homeless lo que genera un poco de inseguridad a quien pasea por la zona.

The distance to the metro station. Was a good 15 minute walk to the closest metro (or you can take a bus). Not many food or shopping options unless you walk 15-20 minutes as well or take a rideshare.

• A N (8/5): Comfortable home, and quiet People, step lightly on the wooden stairs out of respect for others. - I had a room with a balcony, I am someone that likes to sit outside to myself. Opportunity to tan without being seen, and great view of moon. And my bed had a window to look out and not feel closed in. The house holds a lot of travelers. You should get up early to avoid the morning bathroom Rush.
• Noelia (7/5): Buen hostal para 1 noche - La chica que nos atendió fue majísima y la casa estaba limpia y era acogedora. Nos quedaba cerca del paseo de la fama y el observatorio Griffith. El aire acondicionado de la habitación hacia muchísimo ruido y para ir al baño había que pasar por la otra habitación también.

Gentileza da pessoa que gerencia Dormitório excelente mas uma hóspede que parecia estar há bom tempo lá, monopolizava ar condicionado, reclamava a qqer movimento, reclamava q estava com dor e ficava no quarto boa parte do tempo. Sem liberdade para usar o espaço como é de direito . Acho q isso precisava ser observado pela gerente que na maioria das vezes não dava pra saber onde estava

• Alannah (7/5): Comfortable - As far as hostels go it was quite a comfortable stay. It wasn’t too busy while we visited so just us and one other man in the room of 6. Bed was comfy and enough space for bags etc. There is a lovely sit out area with tables and chairs in the back yard. Bathrooms were grimy, almost as if owner was expecting guests to deep clean after themselves. Could do with a daily clean in my opinion.
