• Francisco (2/5): Decepción - Bien ubicado Todo menos la ubicación. Muy malas instalaciones, al nivel que no hay ollas. El personal es lo más malhumorado que conocí. Las habitaciones son una estafa, era una habitación para 6 y había como 12 personas, por lo que no había enchufes lugar para equipaje,etc.

I would’ve given a higher rating but I haven’t received my deposit yet. It’s been nearly 4 weeks now. I’ve asked via E-Mail & the staff told me they’d refund it immediately. That was more than 2 weeks ago, I haven’t received it till now :(

• santocildes (10/5): - Super expérience dans cette auberge ! L’emplacement est idéal, proche des transports et des points d’intérêt. L’ambiance est vraiment conviviale, parfaite pour rencontrer des voyageurs du monde entier. Le personnel est accueillant, toujours prêt à aider et à donner de bons conseils pour découvrir la région. Les chambres et les espaces communs sont propres et bien entretenus, et les activités proposées rendent le séjour encore plus sympa. Excellent rapport qualité-prix, je recommande à 100 % !

Breakfast was $5 and they had tons of good info for traveling, job hunting, and local advice. Saskia was our welcome and she was lovely and witty. Very personable. Would have desired a few good couches or more cozy sitting area.

• Gry (6/5): God beliggenhed, hyggelig stemning, ærgerlig velkomst og personale og alt for lidt for pengene. - Super søde mennesker, god stemning og god beliggenhed. Rigtig ærgerlig måde at blive mødt på af en desværre ret flabet og sassy receptionist. Ellers var alt det andet personale sødt. Når man først har taget en lang tur som backpacker med alt sin baggage, er det bare rart at blive mødt med et smil og noget hjælp (hvilket jeg har gjort på alle hostels langs østkysten). Desværre ikke her: vi skulle igennem en lang quiz om reglerne i 15 min, hvilket der var 5 sider af? Så fint med regler, men helt ærligt så tænker jeg godt folk ved hvordan de skal opføre sig. Derudover kunne min rygsæk ikke komme indunder den lille seng, men hun eller det andet personale kom ind på vores værelse 3 gange om dagen, og tjekkede om alle havde gjort det. Da min ikke kunne, og jeg fortalte hende den ikke kunne, fik hun da stadig mast den ind under min seng og ødelagde hele lynlåsen. Derudover alt for mange senge på et lille værelse. Heldigvis var alle søde og meget af personalet også. Dog alt for mange regler og ærgerlig medarbejder, som flere desværre gik og talte om havde en dårlig attitude. Derudover er 2 toiletter og 3 bade til så mange piger helt galt.

• Jack (1/5): - Les relations humaines sont très mauvaises. L’endroit n’est pas propre et il est très petit par rapport au nombre d’invités qu’il accueille. J’ai payé pour un petit-déjeuner, mais au final on m’a seulement donné des ingrédients pour le préparer moi-même, ce qui n’avait pas été précisé à l’avance. Je ne le recommande pas du tout.
• Harriet (5/5): Not worth the cost for what it lacks - It’s in a perfect location to the beach and main section of Bondi beach. They have a lot to offer of deals and help with setting up life in Australia as well as help with travel. The kitchen is good and is clean and has what you need. There’s also lots of free things like wine evening, pasta, rice and surfboards etc. Overall I feel this hostel is not worth the cost. The rooms are very cramped with many beds in a small room without storage or lockable shelves, which leads to people’s belongings having to be all over the floor. In the room I was in the ceiling fan was snapped off and the windows were also broken so were unable to be shut for the noise in the garden and neighbours at the weekends. The bathrooms are clean however only 2x toilets and 3x showers for all girls in the hostel so became busy at times. All front facing staff (reception and room inspections) were abrupt and direct and came off quite rude during most interactions. I could go on however i feel that this hostel is not worth the money or location for what it lacks and the experience I had there.

• Trinidad (1/5): - I didn’t like my stay at all. The place was dirty and not well maintained. The staff wasn’t friendly or helpful, and it felt very disorganized. There were minors receiving guests, which didn’t seem professional. On the first night, I almost got locked out because no one was around to help. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it.

• Andrej (8/5): Thanks for the great short stay - Located close to the beach, nice staff. Quiet room, despite being on the street side. Its a bit older property and some things might not work as you would expect, be sure to talk to the staff if there is any issue, they seemed to be attentive to any issues or suggestions. For the price, still great.

• Mark (10/5): Had a great night will definitely come again - It was a great atmosphere at the hostel, I'm a little older but I still like to party, everyone was friendly and the staff couldn't help me enough, I was at this hostel 10 year's ago, it was great then and still great how 🙂 maybe the only thing might be the deposit, every hostel takes ya card details if things get too loose but never take your money, I was charged $102 and refunded $98, i didn't really see a need for this
• Louis (2/5): Do not stay here. Worst staff I have ever experienced. Passive aggressive, pressured environemnt. - The only positive was that I was allowed to use a pot after 10pm - however this shouldn't be something that you should even have to ask for - and that's only the beginning. Where to start. I have stayed in a lot of hostels around the world, some with really bad facilities, but never have I come across such nasty staff. The last lady (who was not one of the owners - perhaps this was why) was reasonable. My feedback is for the owners. They seemed to superimpose whatever problems they had onto the clients of their hostel in every interaction. I came to check in and got an eye roll and a sigh as well as an "I was about to go home." They then proceeded to charge me 100$ bond for a one night stay, when the hostel was already 15$ more expensive than other accomodation in nearby areas. Further, they charge an extra $50 deposit on surfboard rentals and it had to be cash (probably so you use their ATM and they squeeze a couple more dollars out of you). Throughout the stay, there was a distinct feeling of pressure, through all the signs everywhere telling you to "Wash your hands.. don't be a shit bloke" (or something like that), or saying "You will have to pay for that if you break it!" This is common in a lot of hostels, but here it was next level. The bosses stormed around all the time looking frustrated, and making passive aggressive comments. If you're going to run a hostel, please, please treat the guests with some level of decorum and don't ruin their holidays by being anal about everything! When I handed the leg rope back on the surfboard, it had to be returned rolled in exactly the same way it came, and with the elastic band in the exact same place. I mean, are you actually being serious? That is un-Australian! As a surfing Aussie, I know that this level of pedantry has nothing to do with our culture, and I sincerely hope that it's not the impression of Australia that tourists and backpackers are getting by staying at this very suboptimal hostel. Finally, the room was small, the bed tiny, and the fellow guests loud.

The female room was a mess, it smelled bad, too hot, and the door was open all day. I’m really disappointed about this place
• Angelina (2/5): Booking must remove this place from portfolio - Australian hospitality upsets me, so I cannot mention the experience I had in the hostel. I booked this place for 2 nights only to be closer to the beach side. I need to mention it was very popular dates, everything was sold out because of Mardi Gras parade in the city. I arrived to hostel, received the key from the room. Nothing else was mentioned by reception staff regarding bed, towels or any specific rules and regulations of the place and what bed I need to take. Ok. I left my suitcases, prepared my bed on the top, left pijama and other belongings on the bed and left the place to discover the area. Once I came back it was late. I opened the room, its dark. I found another person was sleeping in my bed and all my belongings are on the floor around the room ! Frustration…where am I supposed to go? I got scared ! I asked a person what happened, she said reception guy gave her this bed and trow my stuff on the floor. Well, I have never experienced any kind of such rural mistreatment in any segment of hospitality including accommodation. I went down in common area and called the phone that has been provided on official page of the place in case if any questions occurred ! The guy answered the phone ( Richard), blame me that I’m calling too late and just told me to take any other bed. Ok. In the morning he came to the room, publicly blame me that my bed was never belong to me, that I wake him up, his wife and son. Excuse me? I called official phone of the reception! Blame me, that I also woke up everyone in my room (which is not true) He did not let me even talk. Attacking is good only if you are wrong, Richard! My experience and comfort was completely ruined, but who cares ?! Staff there are lack of tact and education. Redneck vibes and attitude. There is no adults in this place. It’s very dirty, huge mess with different belongings all over the place. Very loud, there in no night, day. Music is on to max. Light is on.
• Marco (5/5): If you are tigh on money it can be a good option - It’s very well located and with all the amenities close by. I paid for a 6 bed rooms and got a 12 bed room. Very loud and people came back partying.
• Katherine (5/5): Passable - Good location Was alright, but the beds weren’t comfortable and there was no air con, bathroom wasn’t really big enough for the amount of people staying there. I also had a bad experience with the man at reception wasn’t very friendly, I understand they were stressed but was unnecessarily rude to me and other guests.

• Toby (3/5): Stay here with caution. Rude and intimidating staff, and weird house rules. - The online price is the best going rate (as of the time of writing) in Bondi so if you’re desperate to stay in Bondi (check out Coogee) you could cautiously stay here for a couple of nights max. Ping pong table and good outdoor area given its a small hostel. The €2 daily charge goes towards tea, coffee, and suncream so I was happy to pay this although you don’t have a choice… also good character building. Unexpected €100AUD key deposit upon arrival and a €2AUD daily charge - do not bother with the breakfast add on, it’s a cook yourself a frozen sausage, 2 eggs, and a slice of bread. If you book and get the cheap deal online get that for as many nights as you need. Once you’ve stayed here you can ‘no longer’ get this ‘deal for new customers only’. If wanting to extend or return you have to pay a higher rate and if you try to book online for cheaper Rich will literally charge your account for another night at higher rate + deposit without any warning and becomes confrontational when you inevitably complain about this. Staff were also rude to other guests who didn’t understand something they were saying, not taking into account that english was not their first language. Also, be wary of the number of positive reviews as, when leaving, guests are offered a drinks voucher or €10 off their next stay (still not as good as the online rate) to leave a good review which is a reason why I felt I needed to leave an honest one. Free surf board rental is a cool feature of the hostel but beware you have to give a €50 deposit (on top of the ~€100 you’ve already given) and they hold your passport until returned. Part of the €2 daily charge goes towards them doing some of the washing up but this meant it was left out all day collecting flys in an already small space and making the space dirtier.
• Pamella (1/5): Bad - The location is pretty good =) I stayed at the hostel and my experience could not have been worse. Upon arrival, the man who greeted us was extremely rude from the beginning and only got worse when he found out that I was Brazilian. He raised his tone and demanded to see my credit card, even though the reservations were paid for via Booking.com (where I have the highest level). According to him, Brazilians are criminals and that's why he had to check. After checking, he realized that he had been very rude and tried to apologize. In my room, other girls (one from the USA and another from Germany) said that he is racist/xenophobic. Not to mention that the cleanliness of the place leaves a lot to be desired, the hostel receives way more people than it can actually handle. Terrible experience!

The guests were very rowdy and seemed like a party hostel but not the good kind. Hostel is rough around the edges and not very clean. Needs an update desperately - owners don’t seem to care.

Everyone in our dorm had the same experience with the girl in the reception when they had to check in and when the man came to clean the room he threw our stuff around and talked shit to us. This was a really bad experience and I am never going back!

• Leah (10/5): Had the most amazing stay at Bondi Beach Backpackers. The hostel is small but very socialable, made so many amazing memo - This hostel is definitely one of the best I’ve been in. The staff are amazing and will go out of their way to help you. Not to mention the free pasta and rice too and use of surf boards, wetsuits, body boards etc. the property is small but very sociable and great place to make friends.
