Guest Reviews
- James (9/5): Very pleasant stay in Bangkok. - Nice location. A charming, older facility. Great location for exploring the area, along with very good restaurants close by. None
- Chirag (10/5): -
- Joanna (8/5): - Unique house. Old style vibe. Air conditioning. Nice calm location. Friendly staff. Same breakfast every day. Cofee not good.
- Ale25 (10/5): Good trip - I liked the room and the building, it was clean, staff nice, good breakfast, quiet space, close to center , very wakable
- YUTUNG (10/5): -
- norman (9/5): -
- Heng (7/5): overall worth the money. - Great service, friendly staff. They helped me do the laundry.
Good location, walking distance to Khaosan Road and the other temples. The building is not sound proof.
In the first night we couldnt fall asleep when the neighbor moved in during the middle of the night. They made noises and kept chatting, playing loud music. We could hear everything.
In the first night, there was no hot shower. We tried to contact the staff but they were not inside the building.
Mosquitos.
- Hugo (9/5): -
- Angela (10/5): -
- William (10/5): - Everything was amazing. Breakfast was incredible, the room was lovely and all the staff were very friendly. Couldn't recommend it enough.
- Dino (9/5): Jam, Nat, and workers - The breakfast was fantastic, we ate mango sticky rice and green curry. The service was fantastic. The staff helped me fish my phone out of the river when it fell in and gave me a bucket of rice to put my wet in. My phone still works perfectly! The whole facility was homely and very historic. The AC machine was powerful.
- simon (9/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): A comfortable stay in a great location! - Breakfast was delicious, consisting of fresh tropical fruits, toast and Thai curry. The hostel location was very central to the main tourist attractions, and being located in the historic area of Bangkok, it felt very authentic while feeling safe. Nothing.
- Paula (9/5): -
- Bonacini (9/5): -
- Aluisio (10/5): -
- Diana (9/5): Authentic and comfortable stay. - Quiet street in Old Town close to Grand Palace, Wat Pho, canal / river cruise piers, Chinatown. Authentic Thai house with a lot of character. Hosts are so kind and helpful. We had a shared bathroom but the property is very small so even during holiday season it doesn’t feel busy. Nothing
- Achraf (10/5): Inoubliable - Authentique RAS
- Julia (10/5): -
- Oda (9/5): Rimelig, fint rom med hyggelig personale - Bra lokasjon. Var i et hyggelig område. God dusj.
- Linus (10/5): - We loved the heritage building, and the tasty breakfasts with fresh fruit. The location is central, and good, but quite far from public transport.
- Amy (8/5): - Peaceful, quiet, friendly staff The mattresses were very firm, a little hard to het used to
- Juan (9/5): -
- Nathalie (10/5): -
- Ron (9/5): - A family run place - very clean, very friendly with a full breakfast every am. Very quiet & secure. The beds are a little too firm.
- Mllr (8/5): -
- Oksana (9/5): Nice stuff and stay - Area is nice. House is exceptionally special, but needs a bit of renovation. Outside garden
- Asger (7/5): -
Please note: The cat in the picture is friendly and has his shots done. Don't be fooled by his grumpy noises, he LOVES to cuddle.
- Jaime (10/5): -
- Tarandeep (6/5): Bad breakfast, good location - Greenery around the hotel and location is good Breakfast is not good at all.. Very limited like snacks..they will not ask you repeat or any further service or food required, they disappear after serving once..
- Henrik (8/5): -
- Oscar (9/5): -
- Kerry (7/5): Pleasant stay in the old part of Bangkok. - The outdoor area. Lovely enviroment. Staff. Location. Bed mattress too hard. Pillow too hard. Noisy water pump outside all night.
- Ricardo (10/5): To explore the old town is the place to stay. -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Lulu (10/5): - Great location, lovely hosts, quiet, delicious breakfast, super clean - highly recommend!
Was hesitant about the shared bathroom but no need to be, like staying at a house. Such great value and would highly recommend staying here.
- Emma (8/5): Excellent value for money in a lovely Thai house - Lovely house from 1939, super breakfast and easy to find, quite a chilled vibe. Absolutely spotlessly clean. Unbelievable value for money for a large room with air conditioning. Not many staff around during the day and if another guest hadn’t let me in, I am not sure how I would have checked in. I am vegetarian and there wasn’t an option to declare this in advance - breakfast is a lovely Thai meal but I was served chicken and bacon. As others have mentioned the house is old and creaks plus the beds are standard Thai (very) hard beds.
- Sara (10/5): -
- Ilenia (9/5): -
- Mauricio (10/5): -
- Ritik (9/5): Superb -
- Jhackie (10/5): Exceptional - The room was simple and clean, just what we needed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I initially booked a different room through the app by mistake, but when I messaged them, they gladly helped me switch to the correct one and I just paid the price difference. They also allowed us to check in early without any extra charge. Great service and warm hospitality—highly recommended!
- Vorapak (9/5): Nice location, many cats in the alley - Location, breakfast, cats Mattress is hard.
- Darlene (10/5): Amazing and would stay again! - The location was in a central part of the neighbor but back far enough away to feel more isolated and quiet. Breakfast was exceptional every morning! All the staff was so nice and accommodating. Everything was amazing!
- Daniela (9/5): Superb - The team was great! Always available to help you. The house is ancient, you feel the history there. Very close to different things
- Lindiwe (7/5): Solo traveler. - The price was good, the place was clean 👌 I didn't feel welcomed it is good that I stayed for one night. The owner was friendly.
- Aanand (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabor (9/5): Superb - Had a fantastic stay. The breakfast was a classic Thai meal, the room was cozy and comfortable. Very clean and beautiful aesthetics. The Staff was extremely helpful and kind. I had a flight at night and was allowed to shower after picking up my luggage. Highly recommend
- Luis (4/5): I didn’t find it a good deal or stay. Staff is nice - Location is convenient. The worst bed and pillows. Very uncomfortable, the entire place was so noisy due to wooden floors and old furniture. Cars can’t drive in so you have to walk 2-3 blocks from Main Street, not great when you arrive late at night.
- Sofia (9/5): A Wonderful Stay in a Charming Traditional Thai House. - Staying in this beautifully preserved traditional Thai house felt like stepping back in time! The atmosphere is unique, yet the comforts are provided. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, and everything was spotless. The location is peaceful and comfortable, making it a perfect retreat. Highly recommended for an authentic Thai experience!
- Bridget (10/5): Delightful - Wonderful wonderful gem of a hotel. It was my first time in Bangkok and I was a little nervous as a solo female traveler, but as soon as I checked in at Baan Kachitpan, I felt a sense of home! It is a quaint and adorable hotel and I loved the vintage furniture, family-run feel, lush vegetation, and cats roaming around everywhere. I adore hotel breakfasts and this traditional Thai breakfast was such a joy every morning.
A few things to note: the hotel is nestled between different narrow alleys but it felt totally safe to me walking alone day or night. The bathrooms are shared so it's a definitely less fancy than some other boutique hotels, but it's unbeatable for the price and warm hospitality. Another thing to be mindful of is that the hotel is near Khao San road and touristy areas, which was not my cup of tea, so I just avoided those areas and found places I liked, so it wasn't an issue.
Overall, Baan Kachitpan is the perfect stay for Thai hospitality, delightful long breakfasts, and really welcoming staff. I hope to come back!
- Werner (7/5): Very nice place to stay, but you may want to use ear plugs ... - All in all, Baankachitpan Hotel is a very nice and convenient place when you stay in Bangkok. Staff were very kind, Vietnamese breakfast was also very nice. We stayed at room no 202 (incl. private bathroom), on the second floor just a across the communal showers. Due to this location, getting a good rest at night was not really easy because of the noise of shutting doors and folks talking on their way to/from the showers. In addition, most likely due to the very thin wooden walls, we could hear our room neighbours talking.
- Geraldine (5/5): I wouldn’t stay there again. - It was clean. The staff were friendly. Bed and pillows were the extremely uncomfortable in Room 101. It was hard to sleep … no pun intended.
Breakfast was very basic and offered no choices.
Mosquitoes were so bad it was difficult to sit outside in the evening.
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast.
- Frances (10/5): Perfect to feel at home and like a local - This was the perfect hotel to get to know bangkok both comfortably like a home and feel like a local. Close to everything. Staff are the most loveliest people. Breakfast was INCREDIBLE. And to top it all off they gave us a coin purse as a present. Will forever remember this place and definitely coming back.
- Victoria (8/5): Very good - Gorgeous building hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city
- Max (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitality was amazing Nothing particular
- Anna (7/5): It is ok for 1 or 2 nights, but not for a longer holiday stay. - Great location in the center of Bangkok. Delicious breakfasts and very nice staff. The room and shared bathroom were clean and well maintained. The house is wooden and unfortunately quite noisy. You could hear the neighbors from the room next to or above yours.
- Mamta (10/5): I arrived a day later than planned and couldn’t adjust the date through the app, but the owner was incredibly accommodat - Very friendly owner and the staff.
- Shweta (10/5): Exceptional - Delicious homemade traditional breakfast. NA
- Sweta (9/5): Very comfortable stay. Will definitely be back. Thank you! - Very clean, excellent Thai breakfast, quiet and good location.
- Yorkiemike (8/5): Very good - This is is very small hotel based in a well maintained old house down a small alley. While they have lots of antique fittings, the rooms also have TVs and aircon, and our room was a good size. The breakfast is traditional Thai curry, rice and fruit. The location is great - very close to the big sights of Bangkok, close to the Khao San road, but tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood. Staff are very friendly and helpful, but English is limited so use Google translate. It is clean! As others have commented, the house is made of wood, and the doors (and some walls) have big gaps under them, so you hear everything from all over the house - but with the small number of rooms we actually found it quite quiet, and had 3 good nights sleep. Other things to be aware of - the rooms don't have fridges, kettles or tea / coffee. The beds (as others have commented) are indeed very hard, although I found them strangely comfortable. The breakfast is nice - but it's a fixed serving of that days food, not a buffet which you will find elsewhere at this price. Also - you aren't going to get here in a taxi, they won't be able to find it, and the Trok Sin alley is too small. Get dropped on Dinso Road, and walk the last 200m (starting in the alley between two cafes), it is safe! Note that checkout time is 12:00, not 12:30 as stated on booking.com. Overall, no big issues!
- Christopher (7/5): Good - Location Bed rock hard
- Lupin (9/5): Superb - The location was ideal. Grand Palace, markets and other must see places were in walking distance yet the hotel was peacefully tucked away down a side street. A calm oasis.
Beautiful ambience, the staff are so lovely and the hotel very homely.
- Jamel (10/5): A good way to discover Thailand through locals. -
- Brad (8/5): If you want to stay close to the centre in a quiet family hotel this is perfect. - Pretty home with lovely history, we had a small ensuite with a/c, was perfect for the stay. Wonderful Thai breakfast, tucked away in quiet lane but very close to most sights.
