• Birgitta (10/5): - Tommy ist ein wunderbar entspannter Gastgeber und weiß Rat in jeder Beziehung. Ich habe mich in letzter Minute entschieden, den frühen Bus nach Berat zu nehmen, und Tommy hat mich in aller Seelenruhe und; pünktlich zum Bus gebracht.....
• Nicholas (10/5): A great stay in a relaxed friendly hostel w one of the best hosts you can imagine. Great location. Clean rooms, comforta - The property is clean and in an ideal location, 2 minutes from the beach. My room had a balcony w views of the harbour and the best restaurants in town are all situated on this side of the harbour.. Tommi is a superb host. He is always around to give advice and knows Saranda better than anyone. He also cooks everyone a fabulous breakfast every morning w fresh eggs and fruit. If you need any advice just ask Tommi!

The kitchen was in another apartment, and you couldn't cook using it. Music was played before eight in the morning, and it was to wake you up somehow. The owner was a double-minded person.

You get served breakfast aswell! Its a little hard to figure out where the location is, but Tomy might stay at the doorstep waiting for you:)

Tomi the owner is a very friendly positive guy always there to help with anything you need. He really makes sure you have a good experience. Breakfast served. Eggs and bread. Showers and bathrooms were clean. Locker for your bags.
• John (9/5): Great stay - Got room with balcony and thru trees could see beach. Nice morning sun to enjoy coffee there. Owner Tomi seems to be around most of the day, if not cleaning, checking guests in he can be found out the front waiting for new guests. He is also the one who gets breakfast ready and is waiting for you when you get up. Great location as very close to port/ ferry and at start of boardwalk along beach front. Center of town is a short walk away including local and long distance buses. Shared balcony with room of smokers next dorm.

• Mohammed (10/5): Great location and amazing staff! - Really good location next to the port, plenty of amenities and I found it very easy to meet fellow travellers. The bus stop to Ksamil/Butrint is a 2 minute walk which is handy. Enjoyed it so much I ended up staying for 3 days in total. Tomi and Rino provided the warmest welcome to Albania, they are hardworking and keep the hostel very clean and both are very helpful, Rino even took me to the best barbers and money exchange places with no questions asked. And tomi what a great guy who always makes your day brighter with his friendliness and good advice (especially after I lost my drone on this trip)) and he provided some amazing tasty breakfeast. 100% would stay again and I will never forget my stay at Sarande Backpackers😁 Nothing
• Agustín (1/5): Disappointing - Location The property doesn’t really have all the facilities that it is supposed to have according to the description on Booking. The owner doesn’t let you use the kitchen, but he didn’t explain us that when checking in, so we bought chicken for dinner and had to boil it, the only thing he allows. Apart from that, the kitchen is dirty and there are almost no utensils available, and he controls every single move you make. The breakfast is poor and doesn’t include any drink: no coffee, no tea, no juice or water.

• James (10/5): Everything perfect - highly recommended ! - Tomi and Rino were both so helpful and welcoming - they were there for any questions and gave great advice about travel, sightseeing, activities etc. The hostel is located right in the city centre, beside the beach and just a few minutes walk from the port, so perfect location. Would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Saranda :)

Felt so welcome - The locatuon was great,great view from the balcony. and very close to the front/beach Only small things, such as there was no kettle in our kitchen! Although to be fair we did have access toanother kitchen common room so it wasnt a big deal
• Irieda (9/5): Superb - It is really close to everything, the beach, the buses to other cities, the boat trips etc. The room was clean, and the owners were quite helpfull. The breakfast was great and abundant, they also served fruits. The room was bit small, however there is a common area with a sofa that is comfy, if you plan a short stay it is perfect.
• Lily (1/5): Horrible - I am almost 54 years old. There were 2 horrible 20 something girls and a man older than I. They occupied the other lower bunks. I was told to climb to the third top bunk. I had no problem doing that however the 20 something in the bunk beneath me disgustingly began to I don't know how to phrase ghis do something inappropriate with herself so the bed was swaying . It was old and rickety. I asked her several times if she could stop moving the bed. In fact since I am so much older one would think that ond of the young girls would offer to change bunks. Instead I was verbally abused by them when I moved the bed, not bothering anyone onto the floor. I didn't block anyone's way I did it silently but they complained and instead of offering to change bunks they told the owner to put a 54 year old woman who felt I'll and was sleeping peacefully out on the street. As nd that's just what he did. He lied anc said there was a bunk in another hostel told me to walk 2 kilometers in the heat,bill and there was no bed there. I hope you won't delete this just because the owner complains. I feel it is important to understand the cruelty that is in our world today. I am not old. I am a gen cer middle as ged but when I was 20 I would jump at the opportunity to help a middle aged woman we ho felt ill send not disgustingly make her climb to the third bunk and then dl PERVERSE things. That is not the only thing that happened. I left food there and when I went yo eat it I was food poisoned you can say it was the restaurant but I ate part of it earlier and was not I'll. I ate the rest and immediately began vomiting.

Nice atmosphere and great location right next to the waterfront, supermarkets and restaurants. Air conditioning worked perfectly and kicked in quickly.

• Jessica (8/5): Very good - Reviews don't lie - Tomi and his right hand man were extremely accommodating! They are laid back but will help with whatever you need, beyond expectations. The location is ideal - across the road from the ferry terminal and the main beach. Everything you need is nearby. It's also a good base for day trips to The Blue Eye, Ksamil, Butrint National Archeaological Park etc. Though it's probably up to Albanian standards, the 2 showers available are quite small so the bathroom floors get quite wet (mop available) - wear jandals. My bed was a bottom bunk right on the floor, though obviously not all bunks are like this.

Tommy is a great host! You got restaurants and bars all over the place! Everything is within walking distance! The hostel is great! I could not stay longer than two days!

Tommy, the host, was the best! From the moment we arrived, he made sure were comfortable and offered any help we may require. He is like the father of everyone staying in the hostel. He takes care of everything by himself - cleaning and even preparing breakfast. Amenities are as expected from a backpackers' Inn, enough for your basic needs. I loved the homie atmosphere and will definitely come back, given the chance! Nothing!

The owner of the hostel, Tomi, is the most caring and down to earth person ever. He is so genuine and always willing to help out. This was our favourite hostel we have stayed at so far in Europe. It was very social and we met many amazing people and even got to do a hostel BBQ to meet everyone. The food was unbelievable, the price is so affordable and the experience overall was magical. Thank you Tomi. Absolutely loved every second. Nothing to fault

• Larissa (8/5): Good intro to Albania - Booked for 6 beds and had a 4 bed dorm. Owner Tomi was very helpful and happy to give recommendations. Only one bathroom (shower and toilet) for 4 rooms. Washing only allowed in the morning and they control the aircon so it’s only on from 10pm - 8am
• Maddeline (8/5): Great hosts, friendly vibes, would stay again - Tomi is a wonderful host, he prepared us breakfast every morning. He also assisted me to find free parking. I really enjoyed the BBQ Tomi and Rino prepared. The hosts were always available to help and answer questions. The hostel has a great vibe to it, I met a lot of great people. The location is great too. Bathroom wasn’t very clean and most surfaces like light switches & the fridge were very dirty with hand marks. No privacy blinds on the bed. There was a mix up on my arrival, I was meant to stay in a 4 bed dorm but my bed was given to someone else therefore I had to stay in a 6 bed dorm.

• Natalie (7/5): Excellent location and hosts - Tomi and Rino are amazing hosts, so hospitable and make you feel very welcome :) The beach BBQ was delicious and fun! The location is excellent and central (although there’s no signs - it’s next to Star Creperie & Taverna Joan, Tomi will find you). Only 2 bathrooms/toilets which meant waiting during peak times. Hostel layout is a bit odd making it harder to socialise (two separate apartments within a residential building). Aircon is only on from 10pm until 8am and it was too hot to be in the dorms outside those hours.

• Maria (5/5): Passable - Location I’m going to be brutally honest. This was the worst hostel I’ve stayed in Albania. The hostel is hard to find due to no signage of the hostel. It is located in an apartment building. Found a small sign at the door. We had to call to find this place. Then Tomi met us at the door. This is not a regular hostel. It is 2 separate apartments turned into a dorm. So you won’t find a reception. I stayed in the 4 female bed which was adequate. However, there was ONLY ONE TOILET AND SHOWER! For a dorm with 14/16 bed capacity it’s a bit awkward. The apartment we were in didn’t have a couch. Only a 4 seat dining table so a bit uncomfortable. There is another room in the floor with another bathroom which is more modern than room 7 and it only has 1 toilet and shower. The lack of signage, lack of toilet/shower facility was a major con for this place. The person who checked us in was nice but he just sits at the restaurant out the front of the building and comes in and out of the dorm all hours of the afternoon. And my friends top bunk did not have a port for charging. I would not recommend.

• Esmée (6/5): Not what we expected - The staff is very nice, always up for a chat if you feel like it. They were ready to help us with any request or recommendation. They helped us very nicely with finding the busstop to Tirana Airport and where to buy tickets. The location is great, very close to multiple beaches and to shops and restaurants. Also they have an AC in the room which is on from around 10 PM to 8 AM. Making the temperature a lot nicer while sleeping in the summer. The breakfast is also nice, not elaborate but some nice watermelon with bread and an egg. Also they hosted a bbq for 500 LEK per person for all that where staying at the hostel. This was a nice evening and a good place to socialize. The bathroom was not very clean. The shower had a lot of limescale and wets the whole bathroom floor every time someone showers. There is a mop in the bathroom which you than need to use to dry the floor, however this mop does not look like it is cleaned very often. Lets just say we did not walk there without flip flops. The toilet is in the same room as that shower, so that was also wet all the time and you could not use the toilet if someone was showering or the other way around. This was an inconvenience, since not only the six people in the room next to it used the bathroom, but also some of the people of the other rooms if the bathroom there was occupied. We slept in three layer bunk beds. The bottom and middle person could not sit up straight. The matresses of the middle and upper person were just foam blocks, and the railing is not as secured as expected of a railing. The lockers in the room where good size and all build in locks with seperate keys, however we found out by accident that one key could open all four of our lockers. This was not a big deal for us since we occupied almost the whole room, however i can imagine that if you are travelling alone, this does not feel very safe. The host did make sure some breakfast was set up for us the morning we left, at 4 am, which was nice. However, some of the eggs left for us were unmistakenly rotten because they were boiled before, but not kept in the fridge. Also the pans in the kitchen where not cleaned really well, we cleaned them again ourselves before cooking. Overall this hostel was okay, however we stayed in more hostels and this was not what we expected from a hostel rated a 9 on booking.com. Even when taking the price and country in consideration.

I had good nights sleep while sleeping in dorms. And it was always cosy and comfie. Thank you so much! I would have liked to cook more but already grateful I could at least cook some things
• Helen (9/5): Good value and good vibe - Good location very close to ferry terminal and beach. No sign on the front door but use Google maps to find, and the staff tend to be around or in cafe below. Liked the balcony and general vibe. Extended my stay longer than intended. Helpful staff with info about buses, would even walk you to the right stop, and organized beach bbq.
