Guest Reviews
- ANG KIM (10/5): Just what I need - Location. Clean. Quiet. Pillow little soft for preference.
- Ern Tung (10/5): -
- Ern Tung (10/5): Serene quiet stay for woman, well thought and nicely executed out. Well worth place especially for solo female traveler. - Serene, quiet colonial building close to train stations (LRT/MRT/Monorail)
- Low (10/5): -
- Tekhe (9/5): Miss May Kee, was very kind and hospitable. Had a pleasant stay and will surely visit again someday! -
- Nyuk Ken (10/5): - It's very convenient and centralised.
- Olga (10/5): A wonderful, safe, and convenient stay! I would gladly stay here again. - A wonderful stay in Kuala Lumpur! The hotel is perfectly located right next to Chinatown and a subway station, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city. The building itself is a beautiful colonial-style property—very impressive and full of character. Everything was clean and well-maintained, which made the stay even more comfortable.
As a single woman, I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay, which is very important when traveling alone.
The staff were helpful and pleasant throughout my visit. A special thank you to May Kee, who came within just 5 minutes to assist me after I accidentally locked my keys inside the room—such quick and kind service was truly appreciated.
I would happily stay here again anytime! All is good!
- Kah Yan (10/5): - 大馬人入住,一進去就聞到像木板搭建的小學會有的味道,但不是難聞的意思,房間很簡潔乾淨,還有小夜燈可以開。
- Kalpana (9/5): - Quiet environment
- Nur Syifa (8/5): - Clean, very strategic location, near Merdeka and stadium. Place very cheap too. I like the vibes
- KRISHNA SRI (7/5): -
- Sheldon yin on (1/5): rude - nothing rude old lady screaming in the phone mentioned no men allowed to check in.
cheap accommodation comes with cheap service.
make sense.
- EUNJOO (8/5): -
- Zhengshu (7/5): -
- Xiu Qing (5/5):
- juhasz (10/5): -
- Judith (9/5): Great location - Fantastic location. Simple and historic accommodation right next to Merdeka 118 and 2 minutes from Chinatown. The staff were welcoming and helpful. I will stay here again.
- Hue Jin Chong (8/5): - Easy access to food & transportation
Instalaciones antiguas.
No lo recomendaría para viajeros internacionales.
- Geraldine (10/5): Splendid! This was my 2nd time staying here. My first was in Jan 2024. - Convenient and affordable. Close to the city centre.
- Jen (10/5): - Love its central location: right next to Merdeka Station, a short walk from both Petaling Street and lalaport. It’s very affordable and the space is clean and spacious. I especially liked how quiet it was during my stay there.
- Qadrena (7/5): -
- mashmashkur (7/5): - 1)Cleanliness and comfortable
2)friendliness from Matron
3) well equipped. 1)The form to register during check in shall have proper, correct tittle related with Check-in hostel.
2)It is a hostel, not boutique hotel as i thought.
3)Too silence when arrival with the light is dim.
4)no tv in room
- jojoang (9/5): superb - superb location less than 10min walk to Chinatown, Tower 101 is just opposite. 15mins away to Bkt Bintang by walking. It's a renovated and well maintained colonial building cluster in the heart of city. Clean basic facilities for comfy sleeping & shower/cleaning. Affordable price.... cant ask for more! only a guard with limited info if one arrive at late hours, must get all the direction/instruction well ahead
- Faizun (9/5): - Room and washroom very clean, neat and tidy. Room very spacious. Everything good. Even though when we arrived we're very sceptical about the place because it lacking of brightness especially in the building. Also the guard asked us to switch on the lights in the building and he also said only us two stay there. But turned out, already had checked in guests just they went out jalan2. This is just a suggestion for the host to switch on lights on the corridor and stairway for the guests.
- Nur (10/5): Definitely will comeback - the strategic location No soundproof but its not a bad thing at all unless if your neighbor make a sound . My last stay is good, because all of neighbor slept early . For hijabist , reminder to cover up if you need to go to the toilet&bathroom(shared) because there’s mix unit as well but not many.
- locksee (8/5): -
- PASCALPACO (8/5): Value For Money - the set up calm and quiet no lights in the corridor
- Fatma (10/5): - Güzel sakin bir yer.
- Anna (8/5): Super stosunek jakości do ceny - Niska cena, czystość, klimatyzacja, miły personel. Brak lodówki i przyborów kuchennych
- Avoca (9/5): Superb -
- Mjia (5/5): after confirming my booking, I discovered that there are more affordable properties in the B.Bintang - the location of the property is great, and it made my stay more enjoyable. I arrived 10-15 minutes before the check-in time and found it uncomfortable that the staff kept emphasizing the early check-in surcharge. A more flexible approach would be appreciated for such a short early arrival.
Additionally, the bed sheets in my room were very thin and appeared worn out, possibly used for over five years. I suggest replacing them with fresher, thicker sheets for better comfort.
- Heyeira (9/5): Superb - the location is convenient limited body wash/ shower gel provided
- Iuliana (8/5): Central and walking distance to Chinatown - The location is pretty central, 10 minutes walking to China Town and multiple metro stations nearby (also walking distance).
The room was clean, air conditioned and also fan.
You have a shared kitchen with a microwave and a kettle to boil water.
Bathrooms are shared and you have a heater to heat the water. The facilities are not in their best conditions: they are pretty old, in fact all the building and the furnishings are old
Lots of mosquitoes in the first two nights
A gallon with water would have been great: there was one in the cafe (which is closed), but it disappeared after the first day.
It can be pretty noisy from the street because you don't have windows, you just have wood shutters.
- Nat (1/5): sleep with mosquitoes and bird shit!! - location The louver window without net to protect insects, or even birds and etc. I was bitten by mosquitoes all night long, and bird shit also inside the room next to the bed!!!
- Mohd (1/5): Worst - Northing Everthing
- Nat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mun (9/5): Quiet and convenient. - Near to Standard Chartered KL Marathon start point. The main door lock may not be secure enough.
- Kanksha (5/5): Passable -
- Ainul (10/5): Exceptional - Good value for the light traveller. Good location. Nothing as it was well spend with the given price per pax/night.
- Maria (9/5): Superb & Quiet Location - Not sure why this has quite of bad reviews on this platform but personally, this accommodation is the best price-wise, size-wise (of the room) and location-wise!
Booked mine through booking dot com well within my budget. I would say for the price that I paid, the room was already huge! Plenty enough space for myself that it can even be good for 2. Air-conditioning was also superb with a split type AC. Location is the best for me because I dont want a place super crowded but I want somewhere near establishments. This area is near Chinatown & 2 train stations!
I would also like to add that the WiFi is also spotless! I worked everyday for a week with no issue
Definitely booking this again if im going back! The toilet and shower is shared but you have like 6 stalls and I usually have them all for myself so I dont have that much complaints. Yes, the building looks to be for a ministry but I dont really mind it because the guards and helpers are very accommodating & I had a great stay here. I
- Gillian (6/5): Needs to be either accommodation OR function venue - Location, price, staff Very uncomfortable beds though staff changed mine to a slightly better one.
No fridge anywhere .
Penetrating loud functions immediately downstairs. Noise seemed amplified in my room.
I left a day early.
- Sophie (6/5): Other hostels in the area are far better - Location was amazing right next to Chinatown, beds were relatively comfortable and the aircon worked a treat! The communal toilets were constantly a mess but I’m sure this is hard to keep on top of. On the Sunday there was a big religious service in the main entrance hall with karaoke (with a microphone and speakers) and music, this went on for several hours - we had caught an early morning flight from Penang so were desperate for sleep and rest on the Sunday morning/lunch time but couldn’t get any rest until the service ended late afternoon so just be mindful of that when booking.
Also, when we first arrived, the website advises you can check in between 2 and 10pm. Our flight arrived at 12, we had a tour booked for 2-6 so we went to drop our bags off and then figured we would just check in after our tour finished at about 6:30. The woman who greeted us when we arrived said absolutely no, she was leaving at 6 so there was no way for us to check in so we would have to pay the early check in fee (cash only), she was adamant check in is only until 6 and this is the only option. When we said we would need to get cash out then she said she was going on lunch until 1 so we basically had to go and get cash and wait the best part of an hour for her to return so we could pay extra to check in 1 hour early because the hostel won’t actually let you check in past 6 (like they advertise).
- Ruettermann (8/5): Safe, clean place but run down - Massive room. Basic but clean.
Felt very safe, friendly guards at front 24/7.
Location not directly in center of anything, so very quiet but can be tricky if not to strong of a walker to get to bukit central. We prefer the walk to a noisy area though!
Train station across the road. Lots of mosquitoes in room, windows were left open prior to arrival.
Bit run down, old building.
Female Showers were cold, male bathroom was warm but had no working tap.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (7/5): Good -
- David (8/5): Great location, good value for money, odd and old building - The location probably couldn't be much better, especially for the price. The building looks old and almost slightly creepy, but we did feel completely safe even late at night. Value for money, if you're looking for cheap and well located, I recommend. If you intend to spend lots of time inside your room, maybe pick elsewhere. Stepping back into what feels like a 60s boarding school for girls.
- Ch'ng (8/5): Value for money n homely - Location excellent Monitoring of the bathrooms n toilets.
Got 2 bathrooms , one with small flow of water. Anither w bigger flow of water often booked by someone by hanging her wet clothing.
Toilets, 2nd toilet ,the door cant lock properly. Both have water hose n useful for us .
- Lim (7/5): Good - Location is excellent.guards are friendly and helpful.not much interaction with others as we arrived late Thursday night and left early Sunday morning
- Ch'ng (8/5): Very good -
- Nur (8/5): i would say 8/10 - overall is good..from staff, parking, room and toilet..except for the aircond..and i was travelling during the hot weather and no aircond..the fan position doesnt match with the bed position.im struggling with heat at night. the non functioning aircond
- Phionah (5/5): It was ok - The location is superb - access to LRT & MRT, walking distance to bus stops, walkway to shopping places and attractions. It’s calm during the day. The cafe ain’t operating but variety of food is accessible at nearby China town. The beds and linen are great, large room with closet, the AC is quiet and works perfect. Wi-Fi perfect, The pantry is a plus, being able to pick drinking water, hot water for tea or coffee and microwave. The guards are courteous yet pay much attention which offers a sense of safety. The bathrooms and toilets need a little more attention, guest briefing on use of shared facilities should be emphasized. There is rumbling noise from the roof or somewhere on top there each time any water tap is open limiting sleep. There are mosquitoes in the rooms, no bathroom sandles,
- Fiza (8/5): Very good - Great place to stay, in terms of location, price, and facilities.
- Desreumaux (7/5): Good - It is great that a place like that exist for women.
Location is good
Guards were also very nice.
AC in the room ! The room was not very clean (mirror + plug in pictures)
- Akmal (9/5): Superb - The concept and the building
- Evgenii (9/5): Superb -
- Thuy (8/5): Comfortable for a short stay visit in KL. Highly recommend to solo female traveller - Location is very convenient, just 3 - 5 mins walking distance from /to MLRt/LRT station and China Town Area
Quiet location, not much of traffic Nothing
- Truc (9/5): Superb -
- Truc (9/5): Superb -
- Chu (5/5): Clean, near mrt. - Good location, jst next to mrt. At night a bit scary when using common bathroom bcos corridor is long n very very quiet.
- Nona (7/5): Good - Clean and quiet Staff a bit impersonal
- Hayley (9/5): Superb -
- Dwi (9/5): Great guest house to stay - The first time, I was amazed by the pretty old building, and the security was humble and good
The room was very clean and tidy, and there was plenty of space inside for one or two people, similar to a dorm.
The ceiling was high, and the AC worked so nice and cold, that from the morning until noon, I didn't need to turn on the AC. It felt cozy with the air, around my room. Maybe I will stay there again if I visit KL. They are non-profit organizations, I can understand that. but overall, this place felt like home
I love anything in this place, 20 minutes walking to Lot 10, easy to find , near the MRT and a bus stop
- Natalia (9/5): Lovely budget hotel to stay in KL near Chinatown - very budget but comfortable small hotel for women and couples, quiet location close to Chinatown, many nice coffeeshops around, metro station is two steps away all good
- Ain (8/5): Very good -
- Diana (8/5): Very good - No breakfast.
Excellent place I have used several times in the past.
- Hailey (8/5): Very good - Good price for a private room with table and chair. Close to public transportation.
- Ianzhina (6/5): Minimalist accommodations in a hostel-like setting - Good central location near touristy area. Reasonable price BUT please expect that this is a hostel like accommodation for female with a shared bathrooms/toilets (clean enough). It was VERY loud, almost impossible to sleep because of the teachers training on the ground floor that ended at 11pm. The bed was so hard that I needed a massage afterwards.
- Chooi (7/5): Good -
- Natalia (10/5): Value the money! Welcoming. - Excellent location, almost in the center. Next by a subway station. Close to KL Sentral, Petronas, Pavilion, Merdeka.
Clean room, toilet and shower.
Pillow and towel were good.
Drinking water, kettle in the kitchen.
You can keep your luggage before a flight.
Air con and fan are good but a bit noisy. Super bad mattress, uncomfortable and even hurt my body!
Pretty noisy even at night time, use earplugs. Some guests don’t care about quietness, nobody controls this point.
- Chooi (7/5): Good -
- Janaky (9/5): It's has been my quiet getaway escape centre for years. Love this place and I'm loyal to YWCA. - Very secure comfortable room within my budget. Quiet and peaceful. Wish they had a commercial mini cafeteria at YWCA itself
- Nisha (7/5): Good - Everything else is okay. If u need to use the iron, you can take it from the closed rack in the level 1 pantry. Microwave and water heater is also provided in the level 1 pantry. Ground level pantry cannot be accessed. room 6 aircond is not functioning well. So the room is hot in the evening.
- Eldaa (9/5): Superb -
- Diana (8/5): Old fashioned, loved it - There was no breakfast.
I have stayed here before.
Safe area, new metro station next door.
- Jade (9/5): Superb - Good location, and it was clean and comfortable. It felt very safe. Not very sociable when we went.
Not able to access any kitchen facilities downstairs like the fridge, but there were sinks and a kettle upstairs.
- Ch'ng (7/5): Good - Location, clean, chridtian hostel No big dislikes.
- Xana1 (8/5): Very good -
- Naline (10/5): Overall my friend and I really loved our stay - Near metro station, china town, not far from tourist attractions The mattress was a bit uncomfortable
- Thu (6/5): Pleasant -
- Truc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diana (8/5): Good - It was comfortable enough It was fine for the price
- Myoung (10/5): Exceptional - Its quite and clean. The location is really close to center.
- Alyssa (7/5): Good -
- Ong (7/5): Good - Its quiet and safe environment.
- Daria (7/5): Good for one night, but not more - - The room has everything you might need for one night, it's also clean
- There are only women and families allowed so it's in overall safe for solo female tourists
- Cheap! - The building is pretty creepy as it's located in a former Chistian school for girls and surrounded by a fence with a 24/7 security booth
- You might be disturbed by pretty loud workshops happening on the ground floor (not sure about the exact schedule)
- The location is close to Chinatown but somewhat far away from the main sights and the property is located on a very dark street, so I was a bit scared to come back to it at 10 p.m.
- Ania (5/5): I would not stay here gain. It's too noisy at night. - Very good location, walking distance to China Town. Lots of good eateries around. Easy to get taxis to other parts of KL. The room is simple but ok for a few nights. Bathrooms are shared and basic but also ok, hot water was good. Extreme noise at night. The hostel is also an event venue. Unfortunately when we stayed they had events every night. The walls are very thin so you hear everything. I don't recommend if you are looking for rest and peaceful ambiance. We raised concerns to staff but they didn't care.
- Chenghou (7/5): Good to spend a night. - You only pay for a room with bed, aircon & wifi. Bathroom is shared. Don’t expect more. However everything is clean and staffs are friendly. It is also just next to a train station. No TV :(
- Judith (8/5): clean and interesting stay - Big and clean room, clean bathroom, safe place, close to the metro, kitchen Bit loud, atmosphere was okay but a bit odd
- Yuwen (6/5): I will go back again if I only have little budget. - It’s very quiet basically you won’t see anyone if that’s what you are looking for. You will have your own room which is very nice. It’s a bit too quiet like dead. The cafe on the ground floor seems to be closed for a while. It didn’t look as good as the pictures show. The construction site in the front made a lot of noises in the early morning. It didn’t bother me too much since I woke up very early too.
- Lai (5/5): Passable - Simple basic affordable. Good price for a simple stay. Clean, with water boiler. With fan, with air cond, ample parking space. Small matter, but just to share for newbies to know. I was not informed about my check-in method. Was wandering around the hostel for a few minutes, not knowing where to go to. Then only I knew, office is closed, so the matron left the key to the security guard.
- Callum (6/5): Unfriendly staff and limited facilities, but good location. - Location good, walking distance to train station and Chinese markets.
Women’s bathroom had about 3 showers and 3 toilets.
Price reasonable considering limited options on booking. - Unfortunately the staff were quite off and abrupt with us as soon as we arrived. We arrived very early and had agreed to leave our bags at the accommodation before check-in, however on arrival staff seemed unhappy about this and were disappointed we didn’t opt for express check-in (for an extra fee). Staff also seemed unhappy to share the WiFi password as we waited when we asked for it 15mins before check in.
- Guests blocked from using the kitchen. Thankfully found filtered water upstairs after check-in.
- Men’s toilet facilities very limited- only 1 cramped toilet & shower available (does make sense it’s a women’s hostel but not great if multiple couples staying at the same time)
- AC in the room did not work. Only had a fan.
- Jmva (8/5): Very good - room is spacious and great location..its literally beside mrt merdeka station.. and walking distance to Chinatown.. they have security guards.. just the vibes at night is scary because of the old bldg.. but if you play some new music.. it will become retro vintage feels..
- Travelabout (8/5): Very good -
- Sin (7/5): Good - A bit dark on night. Overall OK
- Eldaa (8/5): Very good -
- Raafish (5/5): Passable -
- Luke (8/5): Good - Most convenient for the MRT with Merdeka station just next door. Will return to stay there on my next visit to KL in 2025. Have been singing its praises and recommending the place to others. None
- Abu (9/5): Superb -
- Bee (6/5): Check in was a disaster! - The location and cleanliness, guests are quiet The management needs to train the new security guard, even we are speaking English and Malay, but it's a disaster when he gave me misleading info. I've shown my booking, he said that owner was not at the hostel, staff was away for 2 hours lunch (the staff already back, but he didn't see her), he didn't let me drop luggage, just asked me to wait. The contact number on booking.com was not reachable for 40 mins. I sms, made phone calls, msg on booking.com, whatsapp calls & msg. (I reached at 245pm, contacted CS around 330pm). I need to contact CS of booking.com, as I was very upset and frustrated with the situation. I would like to cancel my booking due to can't check in or drop off my luggage. After liaised with CS of booking.com, finally I met the staff for check-in. I never encounter that can't reach the person in charge or can't drop off my luggage. Besides that, the wall is thin. If you are a light sleeper, probably this hostel not suitable, however this hostel is very clean and quiet area but still near to Chinatown. Thanks god I just stay for a night!
