Guest Reviews
- Alexis (9/5): -
- greta (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay. Short but sweet! We felt right at home even though we arrived late at night for just one night. The couple who run this Homestay are incredibly kind and we had some wonderful conversations with the both of them. Highly recommend staying at Sunita Homestay!

- Felipe (8/5): Perfect place for easy access to the Taj Mahal. Lovely hosts - Very welcoming hosts. Location is perfect for an easy stroll to the Taj Mahal. Restaurants close by. Walls used to separate rooms are thin so any noise around the house can be heard. Still, it was mainly quiet during sleeping hours.
- Guillaume (8/5): Humainement parlant, le meilleur de notre voyage en Inde jusqu'à présent. - Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'accueil, notre maitre de maison a été toujours près à nous aider et toujours avec un grand sourire. Merci beaucoup monsieur Guru 🙏

- Britta (10/5): Hospitality 10 out of 10 :-) - Sunita and Guru were super nice - and we felt so welcome in their home! We enjoyed a delicious homecooked meal as well.
- Babette (8/5): Perfect, clean low budget stay. - 1) The location is perfect!!!! Easy and very safe as a blond solo femal traveler to walk in the evening around or at 5am to Taj Mahal.
2) The room was very clean. Also the bathroom. Shower pressure was perfect (i read in other reviews that it was not good..) 1) AC takes long to make the room cold and you cannot manually change the temperature.
2) Bed was way too hard and uncomfortable. I could feel my hipbones while laying on my side. If you dont mind this, I recommend this place to stay.
- Jess (9/5): Superb - Very convenient for the Taj Mahal and lovely hosts!
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Clean rooms and good homemade food available. Very close 5mins walk to Taj Mahal. Couple very nice and helpful too. Perfect for a quick visit to Agra
- Mikołaj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Florence (10/5): Exceptional - Sunita and her husband Guru are wonderful hosts who welcomed me like family. They cooked for me and invited me to celebrate Holi with them, making my first solo trip to India feel safe and special. Their home is just a 10-minute walk from the Taj Mahal, making it a perfect stay. I highly recommend it and would gladly return!
- Ambika (8/5): Very good - Very kind, friendly and resourceful hosts, delicious food, and great location!
- Paul (9/5): Friendly and clean homestay - Very clean, very friendly and helpful family, yummy breakfast, close location to Taj (~10min walking).
The owner advised us how to book tickets for Taj and how to check our train status.
I can definitely recommend it and I would stay there again. They asked us to be back at the house by 10pm as they close the gate. It would have been fair to state this in the information section on booking.com. Since it is a homestay, I was checking for a regulation like this beforehand, but it was not mentioned.
We would have preferred it if the winter blankets were covered with bed sheets. They are for every guest, but it came without sheets around.
- Karel (9/5): Fantastic - The owner is a very nice man. We decided to have dinner and breakfast inside, and we were served amazing Indian food! Also, Sunita Homestay is located well, a 5 min walk to entrance of Taj Mahal. It even has a rooftop terrace from which you can see the Taj Mahal. Overall, we absolutely recommend Sunita Homestay!
- Stefan (9/5): This is the place you want to stay in when visiting Agra - We, group of 6, 4 rooms, spend an excellent night and day! We were so lucky to stay here. Incredibly close to Taj Mahal. Our host turned out to be an excellent guide, with a sense of humor, for the whole day. Together we visited the Taj, the Fort, a restaurant and a nice tailor/fabrics shop. We had someone with special needs, where possible all was done to ensure he was helped with a wheelchair. We loved the home cooked dinner and breakfast. Look no further, this is your stay. None.
- Empublicfile (9/5): Superb -
- Susanne (8/5): Real cozy and homely homestay - Sunitas Homestay is a very nice place to stay for several nights in Agra! Sunita, her husband, and the staff are super nice, helpful, and caring. You'll feel at home immediately. Plus, it is a real homestay. The two live on the ground floor. The guest rooms are on the second floor. The handycraft tour with Guru was super nice, there is free filter water for refills, and they'll do everything in their power to make you feel welcome and at home. The guest rooms are divided by metal sliding doors, which do block sight but not much noise. However, during my stay the guests were all fairly considerate.
I find it hard to give a specific rating as it really depends on what you compare places in India with. Compared to other Indian places, it was one of the best. Compared to western standards, there were a few things worth mentioning: I had the single room which had no window but enough lights. The bed had one cleaned blanket on the bottom, one sheet, and three warm multiple-use blankets. Furthermore, Sunita told me it's 150 for breakfast and 250 for dinner, however, when I payed I was asked to pay 250 and 350, respectively. The prices are still totally ok, and the food is delicious, so totally recommended! But for me personally, I don't want to be treated this way. Particularly, as other guests were asked to pay the lower rates. Lastly, punctuality is not their strong suite, even if you're promised tht it'll be on time for you to catch the train, so make sure you plan 30min buffer time yourself.
- Park (10/5): Exceptional - Owner is so kind and friendly!! Location is also very good and pleasure restaurants are nearby
- Empublicfile (9/5): A fantastic, unpretentious home for discerning travellers! - I appreciate the host’s prompt responses to all my messages. The homestay is in a quiet neighborhood and only a 10-minutes walk to the Eastern Gate of the Taj Mahal - so the location is just perfect. It also boasts a terrace with view of the Taj in the distance. The room is just as described, clean, and with good hot water. Privacy is assured as all 3 rooms for guests are upstairs. The hosts - Guru and his wife - are very knowledgeable and can give you detailed, relevant travel information. Try to have a vegetarian meal while you stay here to get a taste of delicious home-made cooking. Highly, highly, highly recommended! n/a
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frank (8/5): Perfectly located for the Taj Mahal - walking distance. Food was exceptional. - Location and food excellent No problems
- Aiswarya (6/5): Sleepless night - Location neaf to tajmahal

- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (10/5): Great location helpful and honest hosts . - The owners of the property were so helpful and honest .
Very friendly and enjoyable stay in a great location.
- Iris (9/5): Superb - Such a sweet family. We felt very welcome and comfortable in their house.
It is a nice and quiet location and just 10 minutes walking to the entrance of the Taj Mahal.
The room is very clean. It is good value for the price.
Also the homemade breakfast was nice. There were a lot of mosquitos, but with the fan and airconditioning it was fine.
- Perinpanaygam (10/5): Great find! - Great location and functional property with helpful hosts.
- Jan (8/5): Very good - Guru and Sunita are extremely friendly and helpful and will make you Feel like home. When we got sick (from outside food!) they bought us Banana and Bread and cooked Extra stomach friendly for us.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harry (10/5): Excellent stay with great hosts and perfect location. - Location was great and the home cooked food was delicious. Nothing to note!
- Michał (9/5): Superb -
- Benedict (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay! Everyone was so helpful! Their advice on local sights was consistently spot on and ensured we had the best Agra experience. The food for dinner and breakfast was fantastic. Would recommend eating at the place and would warmly recommend sunitas homestay
- Raminta (9/5): Superb - Hosts are very kind, description and pictures suits well what we have found, house was clean, location is great. We could also order breakfast and dinner, so it was nice. We got help to organise the car that brough us to Jaipur with some stops. All in all, it was nice experience.
- Natasha (8/5): Comfortable stay to explore the Taj ! - Comfortable , pleasant and down the road from the Taj ! Guru & Sunita are very sweet and nice hosts . Very helpful. House is very nice and well kept . Nice homely feel . Best location to explore the Taj Mahal ! Shower pressure was very low for hot shower which is needed in cold weather ! Cold shower pressure works just fine !
- Wyn (5/5): You get what you pay. - Friendliness of the couple. Very caring about your comfort and needs.
Allowed for a late check-in. Entry via an alley 😩
Shared toilet, which needed access through another bedroom.
Cash payment. Would have been helpful if a credit card was an option. I could have used the hard cash for other cash purchases.
- Tanja (10/5): Exceptional - Is you want to experience some famous Indian hospitality, this is the place to book.
The place is clean, bed is comfortable, shower is hot, location is perfect!
- Gaia (8/5): Nice house with friendly host - Host is very friendly, room and bathroom are clean and food is amazing. It was cold and smoky as rooms are not isolated properly for winter, and mattress was a bit uncomfortable.
- Anastasia (10/5): Perfect place to stay close to Taj Mahal - Loved everything about this place! It was very close to the Taj Mahal, and we could walk there in the morning. The room was very spacious and had a good shower. The host was sooo helpful and helped us a lot with the next leg of our trip, which saved us lots of time and money. The family also offers dinners and breakfast, and they were delicious! Look no further; this is a perfect place to stay when in Agra
- Franziska (9/5): Great value for money, lovely family, best location - I really enjoyed my stay at Sunita Home Stay. For me, home stays are the best opportunity to experience everyday life in India and to have an authentic exchange with locals. Sunita and Guru Deval are very friendly people who lovingly take care of all their visitors' needs. Sunita's homemade food is great!
I would like to add that this special experience that homestays offer is not comparable with star hotels or etc.. People who want to be bedded and served at a high level are certainly used to different standards in terms of facilities etc. I rate Sunita a 10 because for what it is - an Indian homestay with a friendly family - for me it deserves the best rating for the reasons mentioned. I liked everything.
- Tomomitsu (10/5): Exceptional -
- O'neil (10/5): Great homestay in Agra near the Taj - Great location, you can see the taj dome from one room.
10 minutes walk to the taj mahal gate.
Very friendly host.
Good breakfast (extra) Water pressure on the second floor is not very good.
- Anthony (9/5): Great location and excellent hospitality. - The hospitality provided was excellent. The room I stayed in gets quite warm during midday, so paying extra for the air-conditioning is recommended.
The location was within very close walking distance to the Taj Mahal and was pleasant to have a quiet paved path to walk there. The restaurants around the area are pretty ordinary.
- Orsolya (7/5): 12 minutes to the east gate - The host family is super nice. 12 minutes to the east gate of Taj Mahal, we could safely reach Taj in the night before sunrise. Great view from the rooftop. Spacios room, we get the one facing the street with balcony. It was clean. Walls are paperthin, they arent even walls. We could hear literally everything happening in the next room and on the streets. Windows are not closing properly, we had mosquitos at night. Breakfast was very simple, not worth the price. Why not serving on the roof? Then it would worth even double. We had to ask the hosts to turn on hot water for shower.
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- - (3/5): Skip this experience - Warm welcome Dirty. Dirty floor, dirty carpet, dirty bathroom. No hot water - owner forgets to switch on water heater and you find out this when you are in a shower. Downtown area with nice rooftop restaurants is far.
- Tu (8/5): Very good - Taj Mahal is 2-minute walk away. The host family was extremely nice, warm and welcoming. Our room was big and spacious. Breakfast was simple but very fulfilling. We had a good chat at breakfast. They helped us book a car and spoke to our driver when we needed help clearing up a few issues. We felt like staying with relatives. The bathroom is a bit small with no separate shower.
- Donato (9/5): Superb - A home and very safe environment, very close to the Taj Mahal and not far from the Agra Fort!
Just notice that Google maps doesn't show the location fully right but a few hundred metres away ;)
- Amanda (10/5): great location. quiet, comfortable and perfect for our needs. - We had a lovely couple of days at Sunita homestay. Guru was super friendly, the room was clean and offered everything we needed.
we were accommodated and catered for very well after check out until it was time to go to the station.
thank you for sharing your home with us.
- Dominik (9/5): Superb - Great homestay base to visit Taj. Guru, Sunita and family were always helpfull and I had a pleasent stay. The food was fantastic. Nice rooftop. Thank you
- Akhilesh (9/5): Superb -
- Hannan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - it felt like home and the family was really friendly
- Muhammed (7/5): Good - comfort and safety bathroom
- Nance (7/5): Good - The people were warm and welcoming and very well organised. Left sooner than planned because at 5 pm there's a burning of trash and the smells were too much for me. Hope the city of Agra dissolves this issue swiftly.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay in Sunita homestay. Everyone was so friendly to us and we were given lots of recommendations for what to do and when to do it. The food was also amazing and very reasonably priced too which was great. We really felt at home, we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. We would definitely stay again if we returned to agra! Also the location is perfect, its a 5 minute walk to the Taj Mahal, which you can also see from the rooftop!
- Ashok (10/5): Had a nice and comfortable stay - Spacious room was given to us which felt like home. Clean room and bathroom.
Able to watch Taj Mahal from the room balcony. Walkable distance from Taj mahal.
Nearly equidistant from railway station, bus stand and Agra fort.
- Pawel (9/5): Nice place! - Everything was fine. The owner is very nice and helpful. Very close to the Taj Mahal Nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - I really recommend this homestay. Guru is really very nice, attentive and benevolent. He was like a dad to me. the room was clean and I felt like home there. I'm really happy with this moment.
- Maxim (9/5): Superb - Very kind and polite host. Great location. Good price and good breakfast. One room little bit small
- Lenart (9/5): Great stay, I would recommend it. - Great owner, very helpfull. He even booked my train tickets and tuk-tuk. And his masala caj is awsome. Very clean and colourful room, felt a little like indian with the big colourfull elephant god. Location is a little hard to find as it is in a side street and not so well signed (and at least my gmaps was a bit off for this property). But with the help of locals, it can easily be found when in the area.
- Raj (10/5): Exceptional - near to Taj Mahal
- Raghavendra (7/5): Good - Value for money. Cleanliness could have been improved a lot.
- Samantha (4/5): room for improvement with no excuses - great location. host helped us find hotel when lost (it is marked differently on google maps). easy booking of taj tour they host. AC is extra charge and necessary due to room being extremely hot (this info is listed in the fine print). should be included in room rate.
gave our laundry at 8pm, was shown drier and told “2 hours”. 14 hours later we left with wet clothes - excuse given that it was not sunny.
very dirty duvet.
host fairly argumentative when we raised issues - talked over us.
- Kiran (10/5): Exceptional -
