Guest Reviews
- Fingland (10/5): - Trang is a very helpful person. Nothing regarding my stay
- John (9/5): I really enjoyed this place for quiet and area. Just a word for owners to put signs in alley to better guide you. - Hostel is a nice “funky” place just on the edge of the old quarter in Ha Noi. You’re outside the tourist crush and in a quieter area but short walk to the action areas . Huge plus, to me, the 86 bus from the airport virtually drops you at the door. Having said this I now talk about finding it. Google maps will put you right in front of it but you won’t see it. You’ll have to go down an alley, about 10-15 meters, and look left to a blank wall. Walk to the blank wall and look left and you’ll see a library like seating area for a coffee shop that’s here. In there is the door for the hostel.Small sign on door. If problems here the coffee shop people will call for you, as they did for me. I know this sounds difficult but it isn’t. Room itself nice older style.Big open and high ceilings. All facilities worked well. Hot water and AC. Even has a small balcony. No real view but if smoker you can use. Lastly is an older Ha Noi. building and no elevator but narrow stairs. If in contact before arrival be SURE to get door code as no one in attendance. All self checkin.
- Dmitrii (10/5): Very cool homestay experience - Nice balcony
Unbeatable location
Competitive price Separated bathroom
- Hoang Thi Thu (8/5): - Cafe sách ngày tầng 1 và cô chủ nhà đánh đàn hay
- Miguel (10/5): -
- Bennath (8/5): - Sweet little place at the back of a coffee/bookshop! We were shocked at the low ceiling in the room at first but after an hour or so we really settled into the cosiness of it. The smart TV in the room was a good touch for more chilled evenings. Slightly out of the old quarter which was nice for a bit of peace and space. Still only a 15 min walk to the old town though and less to the lake.
The owners daughter/sister lives on the top floor I think, she is very friendly and made us feel very welcome and the owner was super helpful over text.
Overall a lovely experience! No major problem but the bathroom is downstairs and quite small.
- Aritra (4/5): - Staff was cool, and good location to catch the airport bus. The air conditioning was working. 1. No elevator, which is alright, but the stairs are too steep, and narrow, and curvy, and not appropriate lighting on the steps at all late night when the lights are off, which makes it very risky.
2. The cloth hanging rope is so high up, that I had to climb on a chair to hang the wet clothes, and ended up slipping and falling.
3. The warm water stopped coming to the tap on Day 2, and constant sound of water pumping through whenever any tap is turned on.
4. They lock the entry gate past 11pm-ish, and no lights on the entrance then.
5. No attached bathroom, no mirror in your room, not even an attached sink/basin in the room.

- Win Lae (8/5): We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. Overall, it was a great experience - The location of the hotel is excellent, as it is close to all the famous attractions, making it easy to explore on foot. The ladies at the hotel are incredibly kind, warm, and helpful. They made us feel more like we were relaxing at home rather than staying in a hotel. We can communicate by English.
On our last day, my husband became unwell, and they were very understanding of our situation. They kindly allowed us to extend our stay by one hour without any extra charge, which we truly appreciated. It can be a bit noisy in the morning, as there is a coffee shop downstairs and many people gather and talk there. As we live in 1st floor we can hear the noise.
- Valentin (10/5): - Very spacious room, comfy bed and well working shower. The gigantic TV with Netflix and YouTube is a great bonus. Fairly quiet at night. A great place to stay!
- Trinh (8/5): -
- Lucas (10/5): - Very comfy and clean room. Also very good service. Nothing
- Andrea (3/5): - Posizione Arredamento spartano muffa sul muro
Mancanza di manutenzione …. Dover aprire 3 accessi per entrare … poca manutenzione sullo stabile
- Andrea (3/5): - La posizione Camera arredata in modo spartano … sul muro muffa …. Bagno base
- Jan (10/5): Nothing to say except it was perfect - Everything was perfect, the accomodation, the staff was really active and helpful !
I’ll come back for sure !!
- Emma (9/5): -
- Alexey (10/5): -
- Stuart (10/5): - The host upgraded my room and spent extra time explaining how to use the TV remote. The room was big and had a large TV. It felt like home
Top
- Deborah (10/5): A True Homestay Experience - This felt like a true homestay. And some other areas you rarely get to interact with the family that owns the home stay or locals. Because it was the Vietnamese New Year we were able to celebrate it as though we lived there. We felt very welcomed and appreciated all the food that was made to give us the most authentic experience.
The house went above and beyond to give us a lovely homestay where we were able to partake in the culture and we were well fed as well as well taken care of. The kindness of the hosts was incomparable to other places!

- Juan (10/5): -
- Trung Anh (10/5): -
- Maria (8/5): Clean and practical - I liked the experience of staying in a Vietnamese house. The lady that let me in was lovely. Although she did not speak English we managed to communicate in a nice way. The house was clean. The location of the homestay is very central.
I realise how little space Vietnamese people use as this house is tiny. I did have the 'little room' which was a subdivided space that must have had high ceilings originally. I think the ceiling was 1.80m high. The owner decorated it very well with a mattress on the floor and small furniture. It was a bit of an Alice in wonderland experience.
- Yuan Zhipeng (10/5): -
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Ayush (8/5): Very good -
- Louis (9/5): Very nice and very welcomed - The Mum of the owner took us to our room. Although she couldn’t speak any English she was very polite and happy to use translate. The owner was absolutely fabulous very kind and just made our stay very pleasant Nothing was bad. Maybe the blanket on the sofa could use with a wash but yeh everything was great
- David (10/5): I spent two very enjoyable days in Hanoi at the Tropical land little Hanoi homestay and it was a great place and way to - The property was in a great location near the old part of Hanoi, was clean and well organised. I really enjoyed the “mother’s” help with my Vietnamese and practical matters. I arrived very late and had to leave very early a couple of days later but this was no problem at all.
- Hiba (10/5): Exceptional - I'm Arabic solo travel and first time vesit Vietnam 🇻🇳 really I appreciate the staff in homstay the lovely mother and my lovely trang
She helped me with the planning for all trips and bookings even though she took me a tour with her motorbike and showed me local places.the homstay is familiar to clean near for every place and, most importantly, safe
It was a very nice experience
Thanks 😊 for everything 🙏 ❤️
- Gerry (10/5): So friendly - The staff were fantastic to say the least. So welcoming and great fun!a lovely experience All good
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oliver (10/5): Great host and nice place. - The room was nice and comfortable. The most impressive part of our stay was the hosts. They were unbelievably accommodating when we needed a late check in, they woke up and let us in (when they didn’t need to). They assisted us with a day tour for Halong Bay which was more cost efficient than online. They supported us with our laundry ensuring it was in a place to dry and they helped move it back to our room. Overall, we have been travelling south east Asia for 3 months and these host were the most accommodating and supportive throughout our stay. The walk to the main area is about 10 minutes so not far at all.
- Vicky (5/5): so so - Hotel in center that take car or walk easily, had ant, insect, not too clean. mattress quite tought.
- Thi (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paquola (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful room and the owner is very sympathic. The Hostel is very well situated, I recommand !
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and amazing host helped me with everything, very responsive, I feel like am in my house highly recommanded ! Nothing
- Agni (5/5): Great location, great hostess. No natural light and not enclosed bathroom. - The hostess is very kind and lovely 💐 The location is great. Very close to the centre and the old quarter, you can also go to the lake by walking. The bus to the airport is a few metres outside. There is also a big screen with Netflix. The room didn't have any natural light. You can't compare the European cleaning standards to the Vietnamese. You always have lower expectations. I found hair from previous guests in the bed and in the bathroom. There were stains on all the metallic surfaces in the bathroom. The kitchen is shared with the other rooms, and the bathroom is private but it is outside of the room, so you have to get out of your room and pass through the stairs to visit the bathroom. At night you have to unlock 3 doors' padlocks in the darkness to get into the coffee shop where is the entrance of the room. Walls are full of mold but this is very usual in Vietnam.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, lovely owner that made sure we had everything we wanted and was always there to answer our questions, and only a 10 minute walk from old quarter
- Duong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (9/5): Cosy room - The host was really nice and the room was so cosy I really enjoyed staying there. There is a really good coffee shop and book store underneath the room.
- Darren (2/5): Very poor - Location good and owner very helpful & polite I didn’t like the flickering lights (even when they were turned off) nor the buzzing light switches & power sockets. It didn’t make me feel safe, especially considering that you were physically locked in to the property by a metal gate which was padlocked down at ground floor level. The room I had also looked nothing like the picture in this review
- Treena (8/5): Very good -
- Valentin (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (9/5): a minimalistic, authentic Hanoi accomodation - The room is very minimalistic, but if you are looking to live in an authentic Vietnam tube house in the capital city, this is the place!
The room is located at the end of a narrow winding stairs, and with a balcony perfect for drying clothing, if you need to do laundry. The traffic noice is very distant in the apartment, which is nice.
When you exit the apartment, you go through a very cozy book store, by a good coffee shop, and out on a street with a lot of good priced street food.
We loved the area - if you go south, you find a lot of well-priced restaurants with
authentic, delicious Vietnamese food, where you eat together with locals. We also found a big store (Fuji mart) with a good selection of fruits and groceries.
Its also very close to swords lake and old town.
The hostess (and her granddaughter) were very sweet, and helped us with any request we expected a kitchen for cooking, however only a big pot was available. But, we soon found out that there is no need for cooking, as there is delicious, cheap street food right outside the apartment.
- Schmidt (10/5): It was my first time here and hopefully not my last🙏 - I liked the piano playing with Hoa, the manager😊
Plus, there's a nice little coffeeshop just around the corner. You can watch businesspeople having their shoes polished whilst enjoying a fresh orangejuice or cafè latte.
- Fatima (10/5): Perfect stay! - The property is located just a short walk from old quarter. It is near to supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. The host is absolutely amazing, very kind, attentive and responsive and goes the extra mile to make the stay good. The facilities are super clean, included bed linen, towels and other amenities. I couldn’t have asked for more on my stay in Hanoi.
- Ashim (9/5): Superb -
- Ashim (8/5): Very good -
- Aldo (10/5): Spacious accommodation 5 min walk from the lake - The host is very friendly kind and helpful, she gave me advice on many things and helped me finding transport to Cao Bang where I am now. During my stay the mattress was changed, the new one is firmer, but more comfortable, I slept well! I had balcony and a kitchenette, tiny, but useful! This place is quieter than others, being at an inner alley location, however Hanoi is a very noisy city and you can still hear a bit of noise.
- Harry (8/5): Very good - Such a lovely host! Went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable.
- Clement (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saravanan (8/5): Very good -
- Oanam (10/5): Exceptional - The place to stay in Hanoi. The room is spacious and I had booked the one with a balcony. Location is great, you can walk to the famous train street or the lake nearby. Trang, the host was very helpful and communication was great, very responsive to messages on Whatsapp. I managed to visit Halong Bay and Tam Coc thanks to Trang who helped me reserve the seats. Thank you so much for everything, I truly enjoyed staying here!
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, room was clean, facilities 👍
- Nguyen (10/5): Exceptional - easy to reach by public transportation, airport bus (86) stop just a few steps away
close to all attractions
- Neda (10/5): Exellent - Lovely cosy home stay above Nil cafe, the owner was so kind and supportive, great location. Clean and specious bedroom
- Filipinas (7/5): No other choices with cheaper price - Location Room is old
- Peldon (10/5): Highly recommend to anyone looking for a home away from their home. Kindest staff ever. - I stayed there for a week and the experience was amazing. I especially liked the kindness of the staff and how caring they were. the place is very safe especially if you are traveling alone. It is unexpectedly very reasonable and in the center of Hanoi hub. I would highly recommend this place for anyone travelling to Hanoi,Vietnam. I liked everything about this place
- Cao (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): A beautiful experience with beautiful people. you have the option to make some food as well. I prepared oats in the morn - A beautiful Japanese style area which is peaceful and has everything you need. very respectful owners and all round wonderful experience. they booked a taxi to the airport for me and I even forgot to return the keys and had to give them to the taxi driver to return. nothing.
