Guest Reviews

- Samantha (9/5): Quiet hillside stay in historic village - Stunning hillside village location, great courtyard and nice restaurants next door Yes the road up and down is steep and slightly worrying when you meet a car going the other way but it was so worth it for the peaceful location
- Maggie (10/5): -
- Sofie (8/5): - everything was perfect in the room. it was decorated with love. very clean and spacious, and a small community kitchen as well as a nice rooftop hangout and patio. would definitely come here again.
possible to pay by card down at their beach bar. communication via booking was very slow only when we were given a whatsapp contact it was better. there were people to speak to down in queparo beach at the bar, but barely ever anyone around the house. this felt a bit weird but was okay enough.
- Bianca (10/5): Außergewöhnlicher Aufenthalt mit spektakulärer Aussicht - Außergewöhnliches Panorama oberhalb von Queparo Schwierige Anfahrt über eine unbefestigte, steile Straße. Außerdem hat die Toilettenbrille gefehlt.
- Raffner (8/5): - Tolle Lage.... Natur pur..
- Vanessa (10/5): - Beautiful setting in the mountains. Not an easy road to get to it but its worth it. 2 nice restaurants next door with friendly staff Its a pity the jacuzzi wasn't in use.
- Shrey (8/5): - The property was really nice and is at an amazing location at the top of the hill in a small village, which was a different and an exciting experience for us. The property did not had much ventilation and since it is summer it got really hot during the day. The fans provided was helpful but i think the property needs an air conditioner only for summers.
- grisela (10/5): Super belle maison antique - Super séjour.

Spa impraticable, dommage.
- samka (10/5): Perfecte locatie en verblijf - Het was top accomodatie , inrichting perfect , buiten is ook prachtig ingericht , schoon , zeker 10 Niets
- Adrian (7/5): - + gute Leute als Zimmernachbarn
+ bequemes Bett
+ geräumiges Zimmer - Host war nicht vor Ort (22:05)
- Whirlpool hatte keine Luft und foktionierte nicht
- Inês (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing, the place is very typical and has a nice balcony where you can relax. Fully equipped room, fully equipped shared kitchen. Next to a cute local restaurant with amazing food. Will definitely come back if ever in Albania again
Thank you!
- Moona (9/5): Superb - Its like fairytale. Rustic & unique vibes.
free good beachbeds available! The road there is bumby ride, but it will be worth it! Even if you drive scooter like us! And ofc it’s not villa portas fault!
Kitchen need good one knife!
- Saulėja (10/5): Stunning place! - Great place, the inner yard is magical, the accommodation is located in a very unique area on the mountain. The ride up might feel stressfull at first, but it's Albania, so frankly it's nothing too unusual :). The view definately is worth the drive <3 The host also offers free sunbeds on the beach which was truly amazing. We also used the jacuzzi and there is a great restaurant just nearby! Huge thanks from Lithuania!
- Seth (10/5): Perfect, just what we were looking for! - Room was super comfortable and unique! Very happy with it. Unfortunately the shower drain is blocked/not working. Drains through floor waste by toilet, not a major, just stays wet for a while on the floor.
- Shoti (10/5): Amazing place with a unique vibe - An amazing place with super easy self check-in! It felt like an adventure in an old village — peaceful and full of charm. I had one of the best sleeps of my life here. They offer rooms in a villa, which is perfect if you want to meet new people and make friends. The owners have great ideas and really create a special atmosphere. Every time I pass through Qeparo, I will definitely stay here again!
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional - The room was amazing big
- Deshana (9/5): Superb - I like how absolutely beautiful the property is and the view from the top was absolutely magnificent It’s a really harsh climb up for inexperienced drivers. It’s very steep so I’d advise some caution but everything else made it worth it
- Aleksandra (8/5): Very good - We were able to take laundry, we haven't used the hot tube as it was very windy. Other than that everything was there, really nice place. Be careful with restaurants around they are quite pricey but so-so.
- Sulo (10/5): Shume mire - Vendi ku ndodhesh
- Bojana (8/5): Easy to find and good restaurant nearby. - Nice place in the village.
- Sally-ann (9/5): Worth the climb! - I loved the location. Upper Qeparo is perched high in the hills above the beach resort. Villa Porto is in the heart of the village, between two tavernas. The property is three bedrooms and a communal kitchen, set around a central courtyard, with the addition of a terrace on the first floor. There are great views of the village, coast and surrounding mountains from here. The village is characterised as abandoned, but it's not a ghost town, even in October. One Taverna was closed for renovation but Veronika in the other was more than capable of picking up the slack. There are lots of unrenovated houses but quite a few residents plus various rental places. I noticed a mini market which may be open during the summer months. The village is visited by lots of hikers. The Vila has everything you might need and has been renovated to a high standard. I found the beds comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. I communicated with the owner, Kristina, by WhatsApp. She was very responsive and her family were close by if needed. I enjoyed exploring the village and the nearby ancient ruins of Karis, including a tower built by Ali Pasha. The road up is a bit daunting, especially in the dark. It is paved but steep & lumpy. It is narrow but there are passing places and if you take it steadily, it's fine. There is parking at the bottom and the top of the village. If you are faint-hearted, park at the bottom and walk up to see the lie of the land further up! It is all negotiable with care.
- Michael (9/5): Nice place to get away from it all - The villa has a nice private outdoor area plus an upstairs deck with nice views. It is centrally located in the village and easy to find from the taxi stop or if you’re walking/driving into town.
There is a nice shared kitchen with fridge, stove, cooking gear, silverware, etc.
There is also a washing machine!
Qeparo village is a nice place to spend time, take some walks, and enjoy the restaurants. Villa Porta is a nice headquarters for all that. If you don’t have a car, you can walk up to the village from the highway. It is steep and takes 45-60 minutes. Might be tough in hot weather or if you have luggage. The owner can give you a good taxi number, I recommend arranging it ahead of time since there aren’t many taxis in Qeparo. Wifi can be weak in the rooms and sometimes power is out in town. But, when you consider the remote location, those are small things.
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - This is such a special experience
- Aino (10/5): Best place on our trip - Lovely room and location from 1910 with good bathroom, tv and ac. Hooks and shelves to put your stuff on. Because of the stones walls, the house keeps telatively cool in the summer heat. The town is so cute with the old stone houses, tiny streets to stroll and a small fortress ruin.
Host was helpful and answered quickly to our messages. 😊 WiFi was sometimes patchy, but that could be expected. If travelling without a car, remember to book your taxi up in good time! 😁
- Leonora (10/5): Wonderful - The location is great, the best view Everything is perfect
- Arshim (9/5): Superb - Very nice place, clean, comfortable, quiet. The smell on the bathroom
- Doko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agim (10/5): Exceptional - Kristina and her husband were super nice , we had a warm welcome and she helped us with transportation and different useful information. Also their beach was beautiful. I really enjoyed staying at villa porta
- Dea (5/5): Passable -
- Volker (10/5): Exceptional - We spent our last few days here after our round trip through Albania looking for peace and quiet. And we found it. It was a dream come true. The villa is wonderful, renovated and furnished to a high standard and typical of the country. The hostess Kristina is very friendly and helpful. The mountain village of Old Qeparo is something very special. You can feel Albania up here. Less than 50 people live here. Everyone is so friendly and lets guests take part in life. There is a bar and two restaurants. Wonderful mountain hikes and beach visits to Qebaro Beach - in Kristina's beach bar, of course - are possible. The drive up the mountain to the village is a bit exciting at first, but we quickly got used to it and even enjoyed the special experience. Dear Kristina, we would love to come back.
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - Good value for money. Lovely location in centre of old village. Quaint but has two nice restaurants around it.
Room was modern and has a spa and outside veranda which is nice Quite hard to park.
- Lukas (9/5): Unique experience in an small Albanian village - - Far remote from the tourism at the coast in a superb traditional village
- got a room upgrade
- great equipment and comfort - we did not know that the payment settlement is preferred in cash. So better bring cash :)
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nebojsa (10/5): Perfect base to explore the forgotten village in the Albanian south. -
- Shane (9/5): Nice place - Very nice place, and the room/amenities really exceeded my expectations for the price paid. Comfortable, quiet, and secure. The check in/out process was super easy, and the host very helpful The hot tub wasn't plugged in - it was prominently featured in the booking, and would have been nice to use
- Setmir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dorina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claus (9/5): Superb - A beautiful house arranged with good taste and quality. Accessible, charming and helpful staff on top. No running water on that night. As usual in Albania we missed a small lamp by the bed:)
- Thomas (8/5): Challenging to reach, but nice when you do - Good value for money, room was nice and big. Communication with the host was fast when we needed help. Be aware that the road leading up to the property is very treacherous. You may want to consider if you're up for it.
- Franc (8/5): Far from noise - Villa Porta qeparo Is located in a very quiet and peaceful zone of qeparo. The cleaner Sava was helpful and very kind. The apartment is newly renovated and even the little kitchen is functional.
- Bernadette (10/5): The treasure at at the end of rainbow! This property demands you to drive uphill off the beaten track! But it is so wor - Beautiful niche property. Well decorated and designed interior Nothing
- Florina (10/5): A wonderful place in a very beautiful old village. Worth visiting -
- Piotr (6/5): Good for a group of friends who take all the rooms - Big comfortable room
Nice yard
Kitchen There are 3 rooms and so one of the neighbours is occupying the yard for the whole evening and night
The property really requires maintenance
No greeting instructions from the owner: where to park, how to pay, what's the wi-fi password
- Eugen (8/5): Cozy - Vet nice view and cozy Bit hard to reach but the view once there pay for all
- Rosaly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corinne (10/5): Exceptional - The place. The calm. Absolutely amazing
- Hektor (7/5): Good -
- Eugjen (10/5): Not to be missed if you're traveling close to Qeparo :) - Perfect property in the most beautiful village of the Albanian riviera. Lovely staff and host.
- Christophe (9/5): Well situated property in Qeparo with very responsive host. - Very well situated property in the charming village of Qeparo. Very responsive host who went out of her way to help us with an administrative issue.
- Nako (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (2/5): The only thing good was the village this property is located on. The rest, a disappointment. - What I like on this property was the the location of this property which is Qeparo Upper village. The house was secure and well build. Well, l got a bit disappointed with the welcoming on this property, hospitality was 0. First, when we arrived(after a long way and on mid-day with temperatures extremely high), our room was not ready yet. We had to stay a considerable time in the middle of the sun, on the top of a mountain, waiting for the lady to clean the space. We were not even offered a glass of water as a gesture of apologizing for this inconvenience and not a proper apology. The lady was staying there smoking a cigar and taking it slowly when it was almost 2 PM and we were supposed to check in at 12:30 pm. There was no wifi in the room and NO BALCONY. If you read in your room description that you have a balcony, that is not true. The location they have put on Google Maps for this property also it is not correct, you need to climb to the top of the village even though the location shows you have arrived at your destination at the village entrance, and this was very confusing. On the other hand, what this property owner was really good at, was coming and advertising their new beach bar and offering us to visit this bar. On the first day we arrived, we received a message that if we choose to stay on the beach at this bar the property owners own, we would get a discount, great, when we went there, for just a place at the beach we were asked paying 10EUR for staying ONLY 2 HOURS (no discount at all offered and beside this, this situation put us on a big discomfort with the staff attitude towards us. This attitude was very disrespectful and left us with a really bad taste, besides our great desire to enjoy this property. Such a pity.
- Andrea (10/5): Wonderful Experience! - Kristina has converted an old house into a guest house with 3 units and a common kitchen. The outdoor areas are gorgeous. We were the only ones there, but I think they'd easily accommodate 2-3 different parties. Our room (#1) was large and comfortable and nicely decorated. Contrary to the listing there is in fact wifi. Staying in the old village is fascinating, but be warned: the drive in is steep and narrow! Loved our stay here. Make sure to walk out to the ruins to the north - the views are breathtaking!
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aidar (10/5): Exceptional - nice place to stay, interesting environment around, there is restaurant close to property, quite and beautiful area
- Igor (4/5): Not worth the money - The location is just great. The house is spacious. There is a full kitchen and a crib in the bigger room Everything else has a big but:
- There was a wi-fi router, but no internet, because it was disconnected due to no payment
- There was a bathroom, but no water at all in the evening, and in the morning no hot water in the shower
- There was a fireplace, but the chimney is built improperly, and there is a lot of smoke in the room when the fireplace is in use
- There were air conditioners in both room, but only one remote
It could very nice place, but the way it is currently ran, I just could not recommend it.
If you’ve booked it, please, note that the place is on the very top of the hill, Google Maps shows that it is midway, but it is not true, keep driving until the very end of the road. Also you need a car to get to the place and move around. The breakfast is 5 euros per person.
- Lorela (10/5): Great! - We enjoyed staying here and we will definitely visit again. The house was great, especially if you are a big family and you have pets. Our dogs really loved this house.
- Von (9/5): Exceptional place high above the sea in an ancient village. Very nice apartment. - The old village of Qeparo is an exceptional place with a great view down to the coast and up to the mountains. Not far to walk (45min) or drive (15 minutes) to the beach, but completely away from touristic masses. The apartment is like new, all rooms big and comfortable, situated around an inner courtyard where you can sit all day if you want. Nice little restaurant only some steps downside the house. Very good bathroom. Hiking trails start right in the village. Nothing.
