Guest Reviews
- Julie (10/5): Amazing host, canals views, quiet location - Quiet location, canal view! Great shower and bed. Room size generous for Europen. Nice in-room coffee maker with pods and a bonus was refreshments in the fridge upon arrival. Pieter was a wonderful host. Very accommodating with the heat when it got unexpectedly cold. Nothing at all. NOTE: There's a very steep staircase up to the apartment so if you have mobility issues or can't carry your bag, this rental is not for you.
- Mark (9/5): Can only recommend! - Great location, sweet little apartment and easy-going host! We even got a welcome drink which was nice! Nothing really!
- Kuralay (10/5): Overall, a perfect stay! - The host Pieter is so kind and very helpful. The location is excellent! The property was a bit smaller than I expected, but for me and my daughter, it was perfectly fine.
- Mattia (10/5): Struttura consigliata - Host disponibile e attivo a rispondere in tempi brevissimi. Accoglienza da 10+.
- Maria (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Great location and easy to walk everywhere - Location and great corner bar Not alot
- Christine (8/5): - Great location. Perfect for a short stay with everything we needed!
- Mert (10/5): I come to Amsterdam twice a year, and now I’ve found the place where I’ll stay every time I visit. Thank you again for e - My stay was wonderful throughout. It was a very comfortable and spacious apartment.
- Pietro (10/5): -
- Emma (10/5): -
- Michelle (6/5): Ok, stay. Nothing to note good or bad really. - It was just ok. No AC was a bit of an issue for 1 night. It was very warm and could not open window due to "smoking" down staris at the bar. Could use hand soap and extra towels by the sinks to wash/dry hands

- Camille (10/5): We loved our stay and would definitely stay here again. - Great location. Pieter met us so we could do early drop off of our luggage. VondelPark was beautiful and close to walk around. We had was easy access to public transportation to get around Amsterdam. Several grocery stores were close and well as a good variety of Restaurants. The bed was so comfortable and great shower. The washer dryer worked well and was easy to use. We highly recommend staying at Da Costa Suite. The one flight of stairs was narrow, but this is typical in Amsterdam.
- Yağmur (8/5): -
- Mark Buxton (9/5): Its got a washer / dryer - Bright airy room with a great view of houseboats and the canal. The window opens!
The room has a washer/dryer stack!
The room is exceptionally clean.
Huge refrigerator. I choose to see the stairs to the apartment as an adventure! But if you are not used to incredibly step and narrow and curving stairs, for example if you are unsteady on your feet, or extremely over weight, I do suggest another facility.
- Joseph (10/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): - Fantastic location within walking distance to all major attractions. The apartment is clean and cosy and great value for money. Pieter is a great host!
- Dorothee (9/5): -
- Cyril (10/5): - Everything Amazing Nothing
- niki (8/5): - Good location, apartment equipped properly A bit hard to carry heavy language up stairs and there was some road construction in front of the apartment which was noisy
- Cyril (10/5): Exceptional - Amsterdam is an amazing city, and the Suite is right in the middle of it. I fell in love with this city and I will for sure be back
- Raffaele (8/5): Very good -
- Josephine (10/5): Great stay that felt like home - Location in a residential area, so quite quiet and far from the crowds. Lots of good food options around the property. Owner very accommodating and responsive to messages. Nothing.
- Nadine (10/5): Loved my stay and the area. Perfect Amsterdam vibe! - The location is perfect! Right next to a super cute and cozy bar and walking distance to all the centre. Very quite at night and very comfortable bed. The view onto the canal was gorgeous. Communication was very good and host was super helpful. All perfect 👌
- Dmitry (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely clean and comfortable apartment with canal view. By prior arrangement with the host, you can leave your luggage at a nearby hotel on the day of departure.
- Mami (10/5): If you like to walk and explore the city, this is perfect place for you. - I liked it was walkable to most tourists places. I walked all the way to the Central station one day. It was very convenient to have washer and dryer were in the unit (bring own detergent). Easy self check in. None
- Clare (10/5): Great location - Clean comfortable flat in a quiet picturesque location close to centre. Nice view of canals.
- Dmytro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ohbananas (8/5): Functional room in a great location - I am a regular visitor to Amsterdam and have stayed here several times over the years. That should be recommendation enough. The apartment is in a great location - very central but in a quieter neighbourhood. There's even a great little bar on the corner. You get the practical items you might need - soap / shower gels, a small kitchenette (enough for making a breakfast but not cooking a meal), washing machine, a table to sit, a bed to sleep, small amount of hanging space for clothes. You just won't get any fancy decor or frills. If you want a clean, functional bed for the night because your days are spent elsewhere, then this is a good choice. The room is quite basic and getting scruffy in places. That's not to say it's dirty - it's always clean - just showing signs of wear. Other properties pay attention to all the little details which you won't see here. This time for example, there was no tea towel to dry off dishes, there was a note saying drinks are complimentary but the fridge is actually empty. It's nothing major. The owner fluctuates prices from season to season and I would say the room is decent value when it's at the lower end of the scale. When prices are higher, you start expecting those little touches.
- Ziggy (8/5): Lovely flat in great location - Great location and spacious room. It’s basically a small studio apartment with a great view. The bed was comfortable. The toilet is tiny and next to the bed which meant that I woke up my partner when I went to the loo in the night.
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location! Bed was big and comfy. There was drinks in the fridge for us upon arrival :) nice view of the canal. Couldn’t fault our stay!! Everything was great.
- Megan (8/5): Comfortable apartment, highly recommended - Great location, close to Tram station and within walking distance of some tourist sites. The host was very kind and asked us if we were comfortable. There were no hand soap and body wash, also no laundry detergent if you intend to use the washing machine
- Fee (9/5): Great location with lovely views and Pieter was a very helpful host. Perfect for our stay. -
- Tamar (8/5): Cute apartment but a little run down - The location is amazing quiet and central but not too busy, there is a little cafe and bar right below.
The studio apartment was just enough, shower is nice
The view is unmatched The furniture and equipment felt a little run down and when we got there it wasn’t very clean and a few things were missing (toilet paper, bags in bins, toiletries, hand towel soap…) when we told pieter he provided most of these but didn’t do any cleaning
- Adeline (6/5): Not very relaxing - The location is great, nice restaurants and cafés close by.
Easy to reach. It's nice to have your own space. It wasnt easy to access.
It was not very clean.
The facilities need an update, it was all a bit worse for wear.
There was an incredible noise from airplanes in very quick succession that woke me up.
There was loud noise from works on the street that started very early.
- Nigel (9/5): Great location and full of character. - We have stayed before and love the location, the view from the window, the comfy bed. Pieter’s recommendations for places to eat still very good. The microwave has been moved from its eye level fitted cupboard to a cupboard under the kitchen counter.
- Ohbananas (6/5): Functional room - First time we stayed, we were disappointed with the place because it was so basic compared to other places we'd stayed at the same price-point. This time we knew what we were getting. It's not spotlessly clean, but it obviously gets refreshed between guests. There's just enough crockery and cutlery to have some coffee and breakfast but you couldn't cook a meal. There isn't a proper wardrobe, but you can hang some clothes. Since Amsterdam books up FAST for the summer months, we decided it would be OK to stay a second time. If you're after a no-frills, functional room in a decent location, then this is it. It's quiet at night, there's a nice bar on the corner, the view out of the window is quite pretty and you can walk to most places. One year on and it's still a bit shabby - same squashed insects on the walls, same signs of wear and tear, TV still not working, few dusty cobwebs here and there. This time, we even had to buy our own toilet roll because there was only a tiny amount and no spares. We were out all day and really only used it to sleep, so it worked out fine.
- Devika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Bjorn (10/5): Excellent - excellent apartment, location & host
- Nisha (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (9/5): Great spot - Clean & not too far from main attractions. No issues. Stairs maybe an issue for some people
- Kirsty (9/5): Great wee location for short stay - Great area. Safe surroundings and close to trams etc. Has everything you need for a great few days in Amsterdam Just needs a plug for the kitchen sink and a tea towel 🙂
Note very steep stairs. Manageable but take your time
- Dawn (8/5): Very good - A wonderful quiet location 2 minutes walk from the tram stop which was easy to use to explore the city. Also there was a washing machine and dryer which is a great bonus. The steps to enter were almost like a ladder but typical Amsterdam. No problem for us but anyone with knee or mobility issues would not be able to manage.
- Felicity (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sydney (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Wonderful little flat on the canal! Location is sweet and P is very friendly! We would definitely stay here again. This was a great stay in a cool, clean, and comfy flat. Location, view, comfort.
- Amyg1999 (10/5): Clean, comfy and trendy place with incredible canal view! - Loved everything about this place!! Amazing view over the canal, trendy studio space, great bathroom. Everything we could ever need was also around, and we ended up just walking places instead of getting the tram since it was so central. Nothing! Loved it all!
- Christopher (10/5): Fabulous stay - This was a great location for us as our daughter lives round the corner. The apartment had everything you could need, it was very compact but we didn’t really make use of everything available as we didn’t spend much time there. It was perfect for our needs. The key box was a little tricky to open & close but we got there.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Unbeatable location, clean and well equipped. - Unbeatable location among the canals. Great shops and restaurants nearby, nice view out of the apartment. The space itself is very clean and well equipped. Handy having a kitchen and laundry facilities if you're staying a bit longer. Good value considering the cost of hotels in the area. A bit of trouble working the lockbox, but they were very responsive!
- Katie (10/5): Great accommodation. Highly recommended! - Good location in walking distance to local attractions. Slept great, comfy bed with no noise from neighbours. Very helpful owner and apart from the key lock being quite worn, picking up the keys was very easy. Will definitely book this apartment again the next time we visit! Nothing!
- Ayana (10/5): Loved it and will hopefully be able to book again! - Amazing location, 10 minutes walk to the shopping area, great food places 2 minutes walk away, a local supermarket, trams to everywhere, and the airport shuttle stops 5 minutes away too!
Apartment itself was so clean and had all amenities that you could need. Pieter the host lives upstairs and was so friendly, and left great recommendations for guests.
Really comfortable bed too after a long day sightseeing
- Doug54 (7/5): Great location in a great city - lOcation ws great and host was very helpful. The stairs
- Elaine (8/5): Great place to experience a little of life on a canal and to explore wonderful Amsterdam - Comfortable apartment set on a canal with easy access to the city centre and major sights by tram or walking. Very helpful host who allowed us to leave our bags before check in for a few hours. The steps up to the apartment are quite steep but our host arranged for our bags to be transported to our room and was happy to help us take them down. We didn’t need assistance but the stairs may be challenging for others.
- P (10/5): Perfect!! the owner was very helpful and the room was very nice and clean! -
- Shelley (9/5): Superb -
- Madeline (7/5): Nice apartment in central location - Great central location and view from apartment and the washing machine was a great addition for a longer stay. Simple fit out but good value for money. Very basic bedding. We would have loved it if there was body wash and hand soap - our dispensers were filled with water rather than soap. Incredibly steep stairs to get into the apartment - we had no problem with them but would be cautious if you have any mobility issues.
- Connie (6/5): Overall, decent stay but over-priced for the size and location and - Comfortable bed, nice view Our experience didn’t start off great. We had proactively reached out to Pieter to ask if there was a chance to store our luggage as our flight was changed to arrive at 6am. He seemed happy to help and we were told to message him when we arrived. We did so…but got no response. It was a cold and Rainey morning, several homeless people around and us with our luggage’s. After 2 hours we finally gave up and found a cafe where the people working were so kind and let us bring our luggage’s in. He messaged us after noon and apologized saying he slept in. This was such a disappointment. We would not stay again due to this experience and we didn’t love the area.
- Lesley (10/5): Perfect place to start our Netherlands trip, thank you! - Great view and central location, helpful host, everything we needed was provided in the suite including great recommendations
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (9/5): Superb - Loved the location. Quiet, just out of town. Lovely canal view. Small but everything needed. Gets a little warm mid summer as south facing. Steep stairs so probably not for the infirm.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - Location Great host The stairs..could have done with a couple more towels
- Ekaterina (10/5): Amsterdam's gem - If you want to feel like a local this place is for you. The view is unbeatable. The area is close to everything but not touristy.
The owner is super accommodative and friendly.
Great shower, bed and kitchenette.
Just keep in mind there is no elevator. For us it was a perfect stay.
- Krystyna (7/5): Functional studio in central location. - Good, central location within walking distance to attractions and city centre. Vibrant bar right on street corner. Had all the basic facilities you would need (nb: microwave rather than hot plate in the kitchen). I am in Amsterdam often and have stayed in several other properties at this price range. In comparison, this one was very basic in terms of character / decor and attention to detail. It is starting to look scruffy too - stained bedding, rust on ironing board, visible scuffs and wear on kitchenette, broken picture-frames on the wall, TV not working (repeated error message about signal strength) etc
- Moysés (9/5): Excelent apartament and location. - Good space and location. The bed is also amazing! Perhaps I paid more than what I saw afterwards.
- Alex (10/5): Great find in the the Jordaan area of Amsterdam - great host, nice apartment, great location - Great value for money
Located close to city centre
Great ammenities
Really nice and helpful host - thank you very mucu Pieter! Nothing - it was great!
- Katie (8/5): Perfect spot for the weekend! - The view of the canal was beautiful! There’s a lovely bar called L’affiche on the corner. Location was fantastic. We were there during a heatwave and there was a fan available in one of the cupboards. Perfectly functional apartment and just what we needed! If there are neighbours staying in the apartment next to you, they will likely wake you up talking and moving around upstairs. There isn’t anything the host can do to prevent this so it’s no criticism of them at all. My boyfriend was kept awake until 3AM as the neighbours came home late and were having a chat in their apartment directly upstairs. If you’re a deep sleeper, don’t worry - I slept through it!
- Bill (8/5): Nice place in heart of Amsterdam. Good ownwer, helpful. - Beautiful location in a neighborhood. Comfortable walk to museums and great restaurants. nice local restaurants and cafe places nearby. Entry was a little tricky. Lockbox is a bit scratched up and took a number of tries to open but we got in.
- Gregory (4/5): Disappointing - Location ok with nice outlook. Washing machine and dryer. Within private house and run by family. Steep staircase, lots of surrounding noise. Tired room with several defects like missing or damaged crockery (eg no wine glasses, cracked bowl etc.). Bed pushed against wall, so headboard and pillow fell down the gap.
Very hot even in May with no air conditioning and one opening window in to dining table.
No cleaning during 3 nught stay, no tea towels.
Very cramped toilet.
Quite disappointing. Cannot recommend and would not re-book.
- Melinda (7/5): Good - Good location, easy self check-in.
- Nicole (8/5): Very good - Great location and good size apartment. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bed was really comfortable. It was a little bit unclean and grubby. There was a mold smell which we realised was coming from the washing machine. It was filled with mold.
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful apartment in a great location with very nice and helpful owners. Rijksmuseum, shops, restaurants, cafés, everything is nearby and in walking distance, highly recommended.
- Dorien (9/5): Superb - good location, handy check in the shower door didn T close well, but this is just a detail. the property was very good
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Inna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kieran (7/5): A decent base for exploring Amsterdam. - The location is good - it's five minutes walk to many restaurants, less than 20 min walk to the museums and maybe 30 mins to the city centre. The online description included a microwave which has been apparently removed. Consequently there is no actual cooking device at all. IA toaster would have been nice).
Heating is controlled from upstairs, so you can message the host to turn up the heat (if he's home) but can't do it yourself.
- Gillian (9/5): hugely enjoyable stay in a great location - Great location with cafés and bars around but also peaceful and within walking distance to every thing interesting, bright open well supplied and tastefully decorated studio flat with a view to a canal, would definitely stay again. Pieter is a responsive host.
- Richard (9/5): Cosy and well equipped studio in a great location - Location is ideal, Oud West is a great place to be. Perfect studio apartment for a couple. Nothing that springs to mind
- Rosie (7/5): lovely location and quite but not overly clean and no Hand soap or provisions despite being sold them - the location was excellent and it was very quite. There was no hand soap.
there were four coffee pods of two of us for two days which for the price was a bit mean.
There was one bed side table which is annoying for the other person and it was not spotless.
- Eleanor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emer (9/5): Superb - Location Super. Very comfortable studio with all the essential furniture and facilities. It didn't have a microwave as listed
- Thomas (10/5): fantastic - all around perfect! especially the view was super nice!
- Lucy (7/5): Good - Location was great, with a local pub on the corner and a supermarket across the road, plus museums and Vondelpark a short walk away (15mins or so). check in was straightforward, it was comfortable, quiet and felt safe. Decor was a little tired, we thought there was more of a kitchenette (micowave was listed but there wasn't one) but there was just a kettle, fridge and sink.
- Christina (9/5): A canal view! - A lovely clean simple room with an awesome view of the canal out front. A wonderful lively local pub right on the corner (but quiet at night.) Lots of great eating - from high-end (Gertrude's!) to cheap international eats - & shopping...& away from the tourist mob so felt very local. Easy transportation links to places you want to go & the host has posted a great list of local resources inc a bike shop nearby.
- Rafael (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): wonderful apartment in a great location - really lovely apartment in a gorgeous location - felt like we lived in Amsterdam! Fantastic location for museums and wonderful local, independent shops and places to eat. Thank you to Pieter who was superb at communicating all information. wonderful stay! nothing! it was great.
- Malcolm (10/5): Wonderful stay in a lovely apartment. - Great location, quiet but within easy reach of bars etc. Pieter, the owner was superb.
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
