Guest Reviews
- Sophie (1/5): Do NOT book this the sofa bed is completely broken there were cockroaches just awful. We left early and they wouldn’t re - Nothing it’s awful It’s absolutely horrific
- drazen (7/5): - Location is great, they allowed earlier check in. Rooftop swimming pool and hot tub were great. Lots of restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Double bed is ok, sofa is not comfortable at all, so for two people is ok, anybody sleeping on the sofa will suffer. Should have an option to leave luggage after check out at the reception.
- Frances (5/5): Give this studio apartment a miss! It's a health risk. - Located near Bus Stop 333 which takes you to Circular Quay and the CBD. Spa and gym were excellent. Wonderful Thai restaurant nearby. Misleading description of "Stylish Renovated" studio and photographs years old. Malfunctioning never-serviced air conditioner which l believe made me sick with RSV. Studio not ready at check-in time with a two hour wait for cleaning. No protectors on very old thin pillows. Furnishings need replacing urgently (especially divan) and bathroom needs urgent upgrading. View from balcony very restricted. Bed bugs at no extra cost! The hotel would not store my bag because this studio apartment is managed by an outside rental agency.
- Steve (8/5): -
- Gisele (5/5): - Great location. Cockroaches running around.
- Burns (9/5): Affordable and comfy with great location! - Great location and facilities so we could easily self cater. Loved that it was an easy bus ride anywhere!
- Sonja (7/5): - Big fridge
Good dining table
Nice sharp knife in kitchen
Access to a pool and spa The AC cooled about 1sqm and that's it.
The place had cockroaches.
Some fire doors in the building said "do not leave open" yet they were chocked open the whole time - serious safety risk in a fire
The pillows were very thin.
The coach was terrible to sit on
The kitchen was barely stocked and had fewer than four of most things like wine glasses and bowls.
The pool and spa had zero shade
- Martin (6/5): - Location The kitchen light didn’t work. There was only one wine glass and it generally needed a bit of an upgrade.
- Munir3892 (1/5): My daughter's Nightmare with cockroach - Location The toilet and room were having cockroaches. There were insufficient lights. There was no one to replace the fused lights.
- Edder (6/5): Good Location. - The Location, the gym and the swimming pool ! Shower curtain was full of fungus.
- Rachel (3/5): Great time in a neat part of country but the venue let us down - Was great location We had requested 2 beds and didn’t mind that we would have to make up the extra bed but no extra bedding was provided
The place had many cockroaches and we were killing everyday in kitchen and bathroom
Lights in the little hallway were out and needed replacing
- David (6/5): -
- Danielle (8/5): Would definitely recommend - Great location near to all the public transport and had good amnesties to suit our short stay
- Kirsty (7/5): - Located in a good position The main bed was comfortable, however the kids stayed on the pull out sofa and it was extremely uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend staying there if someone needed to sleep on the pull out sofa
- Hafiza (1/5): Unhygienic and unsanitary - No this the property was unhygienic and unclean. Avoid at All Costs – Completely Unhygienic and Unacceptable Conditions
We arrived late at night for our booking, only to find the property in a completely unsanitary and uninhabitable condition. Despite having paid for 5 night, we left early the next morning because there was absolutely no way we could stay there.
The room was not clean, and no proper bedding was provided. The bed had only a stained mattress protector with no sheets or covers—completely unhygienic. The pull-out bed was unusable, literally falling apart and barely covered with a thin piece of sponge that cannot be considered a mattress.
The bathroom was filthy, with a dirty shower and toilet, clearly not cleaned between guests. It’s shocking that a property in this condition is even listed for booking.
To make things worse, the owner refused to issue a refund, and the property management company has been completely unhelpful, showing no willingness to take responsibility or offer support.
I do not recommend using this agency or booking this property, as they clearly do not care about providing a safe, clean, or livable space—let alone the basic standards any paying guest deserves.
This experience was deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable.
- Debi & Craig (7/5): Run down but it's clean with great location and amenities. - Location is great - train station is directly on the other side of Hyde Park, which is a lovely area.
If you are there too early to check in, there is a convenience store at 175 Liverpool St (half way to the train station) that will look after your luggage for $10 ea. Make sure it's the correct one if you pay it online. We dropped ours off at 9am and went into Circular Quay for a few hours. The Oaks Hyde Park hotel has seats in the reception area if you need to wait for a shorter time.
The bed was comfortable and clean. The shower is over the bath and lots of strong, hot water. Kitchen was clean and reasonably stocked with dishes, cookware and cutlery. There were a few tea, coffee and sugar sachets and some milk in the fridge. The heat pump worked well.
Great value considering we had a balcony, a kitchenette and there are a spa pool, swimming pool and gym all on the roof. We would be happy to stay there again. When we arrived at 2pm as arranged, the room wasn't ready. After contacting the owner, a cleaner arrived after an hour. She finished at about 4pm and the place was clean then.
Lighting is poor, someone arrived to replace some bulbs at about 5 but they aren't all that bright. We asked for the windows to be washed - they were really dirty - and they did them the next day.
A chest of drawers would have been helpful but there were only the 2 bedside tables and a coffee table to put stuff on/in. We were there for 6 nights and I hate living out of suitcases.
The place is very run down. Carpet fraying, mattress edge damaged, paint chips on walls, table and chairs scratched and damaged. But as stated above, still great value considering everything.
- Rachelle (9/5): -
- Thao (6/5): Pleasant -
- Adriana (4/5): The property should make a renovation. - The location is perfect, close to the main points. Room is old, air-conditioned doenst worked, duvet was dirty, bed sofa uncomfortable, we found 2 cockroaches.
- Bronwen (7/5): Room at the Oaks. - The location is great.
My room had a kitchen and washing machine ..
The pool heated spa sauna and gym up top are the main drawcard beside location. The furniture needs upgrading for the room I had ..would be good if there was a smart tv and wifi in room . The weather was very bad so .cooped up with just a tele ..shower nozzle needs to be changed over so a pleasant shower can be experienced.
- Toni (6/5): Pleasant - The location was awesome. It wasn't very clean. I was also expecting a one bedroom studio apartment.
- Tania (4/5): Disappointing - Location We had to sleep on the sofa bed which was old and sagged in the middle and the mattress was ultra thin.
Bathroom was just passable.
- Gjs (4/5): Not stylish and barely renovated - Location to city Stained bath towel
Stained quilt
Moldy bathroom
Pungent smells
Dirty surfaces including glass door
Old furniture
- Pedro (8/5): Very good - Location is great and has everything you need. The sofa is definitely not suitable for people to sleep there.
- Daryl (8/5): Very good -
- Gorman (1/5): Bad - Location Apartment not as described. Extremely run down. Broken bed base, sofa bed mattress paper thin with a torn foam egg shell on top. Only 2 glasses - 1 x hungry jacks one and odd one. Fridge doesn't close properly. Mould around ceiling in bathroom and tiles. Paint peeling everywhere. We asked the reception for a assistance with one question to be told they will not help at all as we are not hotel guests. The question was to ask to leave a bag for 1 hour on departure.
- Antara (7/5): Good -
- Noel (8/5): Very good - Brilliant location. The sofa bed was not comfortable.
- Leon (8/5): Very good -
- Phil (4/5): Handy location, but average room - Great location. Very handy to everything. Place needs a paint, marks, scrapesand chips on the walls.
Tv didn't work, some lights didn't work, dirty bathroom.
Leaking fridge.
- Kshetri (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charlene (10/5): Amazing and affordable would use again for sure - Brilliant location amazing views close to shops allianz stadium the reason we choose this location and central station, beautiful botanic garden across the road and walking distance to these places Not I didn't like it but found it hard once our booking was done to contact owner as I wanted to let them know some things and couldn't use the emails from.the booking
- Matty (8/5): Easy, no fuss. Would stay there again - Great location. Close vicinity to everything A little more lighting. 2x light bulbs were blown
- Terrance (6/5): The location was excellent, and the hotel facilities like the Gym, Jacuzzi and pool were great - The Location of he property was excellent Received Key from reception with no instructions, got into the lift and it only allowed you to travel to floor 11, opted to take the stairs to the next level as the lift would not allow us to go further. Ended up having to call reception as the Stairs will allow you to exit and not enter. Reception had to come up and advise that you need to tag your card in the lift to allow you to go to the top. I feel this should have been explained either through communication messages or via the reception.
The Hairdryer was broken and non functional, and so was the Aircon unit, also there was a lack of toiletries, however after contacting the host , the toiletries were replenished and a new hair dryer was dropped off, not sure the outcome of the aircon unit ,but thankfully there was a heater in the cupboard.
- Xuan (7/5): Good -
- Givantha (6/5): Pleasant - Hair dryer was not working
Panel heater was not big enough to heat the room
- Cassie (2/5): Very poor - Location was good. Fold out sofa needs replacing. Mattress is too thin. Couldn’t fold back together again after using.
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suse (5/5): Convenient - Location was great and room size. Renovated Stylish Apartment - the only thing that I could see that was renovated since the 1980's was the bathroom basin and tap. Walls need a good scrub. Sofa old and tired, same with dinning table, bits of food in the fridge. Apartment was a good size but hard to read as the main light over the dinning table wasn't working and kitchen tap drips. All the grouting in the bathroom needs to be removed and re-grouted as full of old mould.
- Corban (1/5): Terrible - Not a lot The mould as you walk in the door. Smell was rotten and couch needed to be removed and had a new one in. Air conditioner wasn’t working and when inspected it had mould through it. Bathroom was covered in mould and unable to use table as wobbly and bed had dirt on it.
- Emily (5/5): Uncomfortable - centrally located, walking distance to everything FILTHY. Carpet not vacuumed, you can see left items under the bed. Sofa stinks with body odour. Toilet and bath with moulds and grimes. Lights not working. Hallway smells cigarette smoke.
- Alberto (8/5): Very good -
- Alberto (7/5): A convenient location for central Sydney - Location and pool Windows in the room oils have been cleaner
- Mathew (10/5): Exceptional - All was great
- Giovanni (6/5): Pleasant - The rooftop pool and spa was really nice. The bathroom didn't look or feel clean.
There was mould on the bathroom ceiling and around the bathtub and shower area.
The table by the kitchen was not stable, afraid to have dinner / lean on it. We felt the table legs would give way and the table collapse.
- Lucy (3/5): Great location but be aware of significant booking oversights - The location was great, facilities like the pool & spa were excellent. Reception did not have keys ready at 11pm on check-in despite being confirmed via email.
Bathroom had black mold & apartment unacceptably dusty.
I was told bedding/towel would be provided for my son and it was not.
- Mandy (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - Excellent location. Early check in . Washing machine was so handy to have. Balcony with beautiful view . Some mould on bathroom tiles.
More towels would have nice as we only had 1 each for 4 nights. Luckily there was a washing machine. It was very self catering including buying tea, coffee etc which I didn't expect .
- Amanda (4/5): Good location, room needs a paint and proper clean. - The swimming pool and location The mattress on the fold out bed was so thin, it was uncomfortable to sleep on. Mould on the shower curtain. The fan in the bathroom and the heat pump were so filthy, I do t think they’ve ever been cleaned.
- Christine (5/5): We did enjoy our stay as most of our time spent out of the room visiting the local attractions - We liked the location, easy to access all tourist attractions, pool area and gym were great, city views were great The property said they could accommodate a group of four, fold out bed sagged in the middle, mattress to thin and could feel the metal bar across the middle, room had a build up of dust in the corners, bathroom tiles had black mould, air conditioner full of dust did not use as we weren’t sure if it would blow dust into the room x2 small rolls of toilet paper left for the use of four adults, had to buy our own
- Dimitrios (8/5): Very good - Location
Pool
Spa Bath and shower together
- Srini (6/5): Pleasant - the location is good and convinience but property poorly maintained
- Punshon (3/5): Disappointing and won’t go back. - Great location, very comfy bed and great to have a full size fridge. The air conditioning did not work properly, not cold and it was a heatwave when I was there. The bathroom grout was full of mould and the bathroom was very tiny. The bathroom had not been renovated!
- Maria (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sharon (6/5): Great location & facilities but it needs updating especially the bathroom - Great location, friendly staff, convenient, great facilities including gym & pool It needs to be updated the pictures were not entirely accurate, bathroom really needs to be remodeled the tiles look terrible & give a bad impression of the apartment
- Brock (3/5): Could’ve been more - Really good location. Hotel staff were the rudest of anywhere I’ve ever stayed worldwide. The homeless man at the station was more approachable and friendly than their staff.
As soon as private room is mentioned they treat you like the cockroaches in the elevator.
The room is okay however I agree with previous reviews I think it could most definitely do with a revamp in the bathroom. The hosts were really understanding with a payment issue.
- Charlotte (6/5): Basic and functional, but in a fab location with a great rooftop pool. - The location was ideal in Sydney. We were able to leave our bags in Reception and we did get an early check in which was handy. The room is very basic but the rooftop pool and hot tub are lovely and I definitely recommend using at least once! The reception staff were quite crusty and unfriendly though. I had booked to use the sofa bed but the bedding wasn’t there and they didn’t deliver it until the second day of our stay, so I had to use the blankets for the sofa bed for the first night, so that wasn’t ideal. The room isn’t very newly renovated and can do with a bit of upkeep and attention, but is entirely functional.
- Sussan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (7/5): Good - Location was good Bare minimum or no supplies.
Example 4 nights 3 people 2 rolls toilet paper.
- Anonymous (7/5): great location, good value for a family - great location the level of cleaning
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Rishi (7/5): Fantastic holiday - Very good location, close to everything Location
- Sarah (3/5): Poor -
- Alana (9/5): Will definitely stay here again - Great comfortable beds and nice fresh linen. Lovely and warm with nice view of city. Great communication with host.
Location is perfect. Some more kitchen plates, mugs would have been nice, as there were 3 of us but only 2 mugs and one glass. But the apartment had really everything you need for a great stay.
- Sharon (3/5): Very disappointing - The reception area was nice and the rooftop pool and spa were nice though fairly small, used the spa but the pool was either closed or murky on the days we stayed. Location is great. We were not allocated the room that we booked, no balcony. The bathroom was filthy and mouldy and the living area cramped and not very clean. Fresh bed sheets/pillowcases were provided but the duvets and pillows smelled damp and dirty. Freezer also had an unpleasant smell. We also found an Epipen that had been left by a previous occupant, luckily it wasn't a hazard to us as we were not travelling with any small children. We did contact the person we booked with who did offer a partial refund, even to the point of sending me a screenshot of the receipt for this, however, to this date I have not received it.
- Chris (2/5): Unhygenic Budget, Budget, Budget room at hotel price. - Location.
Mmmm
Yep thats it. Mouldy, filthy, disgusting bathroom, apart from tap handles not renovated at all! Shower head dripping constantly with taps turned off so tight hard to turn on. Toilet constantly running. Microwave doesnt work. All surfaces unclean. Not enough towels supplied, no face washers at all. Half filled toiletries. Lack of cooking utensils and pots, the one and only fry pan so old and non scratch surface scratched up and peeling off. Had to wash stove exhaust fan filter as was so disgusting it made the entire apartment smell. Broken sliding door lock out to balcony. Spoke to owner via phone call, said he'd arrive next morning but was a no show. Will never be back to this place! Is shameful. Needs a major going over.
- Shane (6/5): Trip to Sydney - Location. Queit. Room was big Directions were hard to find as its inside another hotel. Fridge was broken took 4 days to fix was told by the owner a partial refund for the inconvenience but its been 2 weeks and no refund. Bathroom is in need of Reno's mould on ceiling pretty bad..
- Rose (8/5): Very good -
- Jessica (7/5): Excellent location & affordable - Location, cost was excellent & great facilities. The room smelt of cigarettes & the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest some parts were quite dusty & the shower curtain was mouldy.
- Hayden (8/5): Very good -
- Brett (7/5): Good - Great position and good building facilities Toilet constantly ran water,so did the shower. Toilet roll holder didn't fit properly. Balcony door didn't lock. Bedside lamp didn't work properly.
- Khau (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (7/5): Good place to stay a few small changes would make a huge difference though - Location was great main bed was comfy spa was nice room was a great size was comfy Bathroom was in need of repair and could do with a really good clean grout appeared dirty and discolouration of bottom shower screen. Better instructions needed for appliances needed. Sofa bed mattress is quite thin and the lounge itself was not comfortable. Maybe an upgrade to a futon would fix this. Chairs were quite flimsy and one was not far from being broken. Swimming pool needed a good clean and perhaps some safety rules need to be made clear as glass near a pool is never a good idea
- Sandra (7/5): Good - Central location. Owner of the studio was quick to respond to queries and very helpful. The pool and spa on the top of the building were great. Bathroom could do with an update since it is classed as renovated and stylish. Sofa bed was quite uncomfortable.
- Peter (9/5): Easy carefree stay at unbeatable value - great location and facilities perhaps more toiletries provided considering length of stay (4 nights)
- Dina (7/5): Good - Hosts were very accommodating in regard to key collection given our time of arrival was around 10pm. We very much enjoyed the lovely spa/jacuzzi on the rooftop with fantastic views, and the rooftop pool. The location is excellent, very central. The studio was not in the best state of repair. While it was clean and the bed and pillows were really comfy, the bath/shower area is in desperate need of a re-grout and paint, shower curtain was not attached properly, the couch was uncomfortable to sit on (it may work as a sofa bed but does not work as a couch), dining chairs need to be replaced, and the lock on the door leading to the balcony needs to be checked.
- Enrico (8/5): A prime location in the heart of Sydney - The venue is terrific: truly wonderful, it allows you freedom of movement. There is really nothing that I did not like as such.
- Leah (8/5): Very good - The location and spa, gym and pool area. No car parking, someone stole the toaster, room was very tight when you had the sofa bed folded out.
- Debora (7/5): Experience was okay. Needs more renovations. Location is great!! - Location is great. Close to the train, walking distance to the shops, to the Opera House and many other touristic places. I didn’t like that I couldn’t leave my bags at the reception as I arrived 3 hours before the time of check in. The same when we left, we could leave bags at the reception for a walk through the city before going to the airport.
The room was clean, but needs more renovations. Bathroom is old. The shower curtain was falling apart and dirty. Very average.
