Guest Reviews

- Sofia (10/5): Thank you so much for such an amazing stay, we will definitely choose this lodge again when we are back in London! - Absolutely amazing small lodge in a very beautiful, charming and peaceful area near the perfect for walks forest.
The lodge has everything that you might need during the stay, amazing kitchen, adorable small terrace and a very comfortable bed.
The summer shower is absolutely amazing: to have a shower under the stars is an experience everyone must enjoy!
The best about this property is the owner and the host however, we have gotten the best and friendliest reception, don’t think that I have ever experienced a warmer host than in this property during my years with booking.com. Thank you! Nothing comes to mind, to be honest, amazing property which made our stay in London incredible.

- Ritchie (8/5): -
- Bataloff (10/5): - Absolument tout !!!!
- Adriana (9/5): Lovely stay for a single person - - I loved how green the area is, how cozzy the cottage was, how comfortable was the bed, the little garden, and generally how safe I felt. Deb and Herby are amazing ^^ There's a bit of a closed area smell inside the cottage - not bad, but I did feel the need to open the door and let the air in. Not a lot of public transport connection nearby.
- Natalia (10/5): Absolutely amazing - I couldn’t even begin to describe how amazing Deb makes you feel during your stay. She and Herbie are absolutely the best. I’d recommend this place a thousand times over 🩷
I’ll definitely keep coming back. -
- Lorraine (9/5): -
- Suzy (10/5): Lush, cosy and warm - Just everything, Deb the host is so lovely, chatty and welcoming. Lush house and super shower ! Nothing.
- Suzy (10/5): Host and dog are lush - would stay again - Really nice, warm and comfortable, lovely greeting from the resident dog, host lovely, Nothing
- Emma (10/5): Excellent, would stay again - Really cosy and comfortable. Considering its mid winter it was really warm with good heating. Fast WiFi. Deb is very welcoming. Dressing gowns and flip flops provided in the room. Nice kitchenette. Thank you very much for having us!
- Natasha (10/5): - Lovely cottage and host great to have access to the woods. Nothing
- Wil (10/5): -

- Ellie (10/5): What a wonderful find! Tucked away in a fantastic location with beautiful surroundings, this lodge offers a truly privat - This lodge is in a great location, perfect for exploring the area, yet feels private and tucked away. The surrounding neighborhood is charming, and it's just a short stroll to the nearest tube station, as well as an array of bars and restaurants. Inside, the lodge is clean, comfortable, and has a nice homely feel to it.
- Jiri (9/5): Great value for money close to city center - Nice quiet retreat very close to Mulswell Hill. Clean and cosy.
- Alison (10/5): Perfect for North London - Perfect spot to explore north London, Deb was so helpful and we enjoyed our little visits off Herbie
- johanna (7/5): A lovely few days in London, welcomed by host Deb and her dog Herbie - Close to the tube, including a lovely walk through the wood to get there
Lovely peaceful area to stay
A short walk away to Muswell Hill too Nothing to dislike about the property, a friendly recommendation to consider changing the pillows on the bed, fresher ones are needed as well as the duvet
Also the outdoor area needs attention and a bit of TLC
again the cushions could do with changing, they’re green from being left out in the rain
- Kit (10/5): -
- Kokoda (10/5): Glorious and serene - Loved the serenity and privacy. Only a 30 minute walk through a lovely wood to the train to London.
Cooking facilities in the Lodge.
Wonderful greetings from the 4 legged human each time you arrived from an outing. Nothing comes.to mind
- Mawbln (10/5): Exceptional - An absolute gem of a place! The lodge had everything we needed for a relaxing city break, and it's so charming and cute. Deb was a great host, and her dog Herbie is a delight. We really love the area around Muswell Hill - it's still central, yet calm and green enough to recuperate after a day of walking around Lonndon.
- Carl (10/5): Great place to stay in London adjacent to wonderful Coldfall Woods. The lodge is a treat! -
- Mary (9/5): Peaceful and tranquil - Comfortable bed. Very peaceful location. Only about 25 mins walk into Muswell Hill (the town). Frequent buses if you don't want to walk. Walk to a bus stop is about 10 minutes. Local shops and restaurants nearby if you don't want to walk into town. Debbie is a lovely host as is her beautiful dog Herbie.
- Guy (8/5): Very good -
- Alfie (10/5): I have stayed here a few times now and plan to come back. The lodge is cozy, Deb is lovely and always accommodatin, and -
- Aiden (10/5): Great comfortable stay - Very quiet, cosy and comfortable
- Bizi (8/5): Very good - Deb is a lovely host, very responsive and attentive, we liked the surroundings, very green and quiet for a good rest at night. We didn't see any mention of the shower which is not contained in the lodge. Which means that to shower, you need to go out across the garden and enter the house where you can find the shower through a door in the kitchen.
- Margaret (10/5): Wish we had a longer stay but will look forward to staying again - Beautiful lodge very comfortable -everything we needed . There was nothing to dislike
- Evelina (10/5): Fantastic - We loved the peaceful region where the lodge is. It's perfect for people who want to have peace and quiet near nature after a long day of exploring London/England. The lodge is so cozy and great for a couple. Deb is amazing and so kind. She made us feel right at home. And Herbie is a great host, too. Always greeting us on the way in and out. We will definitely be coming back.
- Sean (9/5): Superb - We had a wonderful stay at the lodge! It was the perfect place for a little getaway from busy London life, and close to Alexander Palace (we had a concert that took us only 10 mins to bike to). Deb and Herbie were great hosts - Deb was very accommodating and welcoming to us. The lodge is secluded and private, and has almost everything you could think of! You shower in the main house, so I would recommend bringing sliders for the quick walk through the garden. There is a little bit of a lack of grocery stores nearby, but as long as you factor that in it works well. Thanks again
- Joel (10/5): Amazing cozy stay with super friendly host - Deb and Herbie are absolutely lovely, and the facilities are great. One of the nicest places we've stayed, super cozy room. Would love to go back! Takes a little while to get to the tube, but not really an issue at all, there are buses too
- Vivian (10/5): Absolutely fantastic!!! - I have absolutely no words to describe my experience. The cottage is impeccable - fully equipped (kitchen utensils, iron, hair dryer), so comfortable, quiet, charming... The little fresh flower in a vase alongside perfect instructions/directions and the lovely decoration show the love and care that Deb has put in the place. She is one of the most special people I've ever met, so kind, and her house and the cottage have a wonderful energy. And her dog Herbie is the sweetest thing! You can have a lovely stroll through the beautiful woods into town or take buses close to the cottage which will take you into central London or the closest tube station (East Finchley). I fell in love with Muswell Hill! Thank you so much for everything, Deb, I'll certainly go back! ❤
- Priscilla (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely cottage and gracious host. Great for someone more agile that I am Steps that were unexpected with out rails and in a transport black spot
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caras111 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alfie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (9/5): Would return happily. - Quiet and own entrance if you wanted to avoid going through the main house. Wish there was a shower in the property as that would have made it perfect. Have to walk up the garden into the main house for the shower.
- Karen (9/5): Lovely lodge an good location to visit our son - Lovely lodge, everything u need in it, herbie the dog would be there of a morning when I went inside the house for a shower, would recommend
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrizia (9/5): Superb - we had a great time ,small lodge but with everything we needed. 👍🏻
- Helen (7/5): A good place to base yourself for London. - The lodge was ideal for our needs. Having our own kitchen area was brilliant as I do not sleep well and like a cuppa at unearthly hours of the night. Deb provided me with a good size table for my sleep machine and access to plugs was great.
Getting into London and other places we visited was ideal. The bed was a small double and very bouncy. For both of us it wasn't ideal unless we both lied on our sides.
The shower is in the main house and very tight to get into. However I must say once in there the shower is brilliant.
The picture states a view but unfortunately at the back of the lodge there was a lot of brambles, so there was no view to see.
- Brian (9/5): Deb and Herbie were great hosts and Deb went out of her way to help where she could. - It was neat and cozy The shower was a bit on the small side
- Arrandeep (10/5): Exceptional -
- Klimentin (8/5): Very good -
- Clare (9/5): Superb -
- Mia (10/5): A great cheap stay! - everything!!! Deb was brilliant and really accommodating to whatever time we arrived. Walkable to a tube station too! would really recommend. nothing!
- Andrea (10/5): Lovely lodge, surrounded by nature and good vibes🧍♀️🐕 - I loved it all, the path to get there was full of ancient trees, the lodge was was cozy and beautiful, Deb, the hostess, was absolutely amazing, she even saved my oil stained dress, thank you again!! Also Herbie, the doggy, welcomed us all the time bringing us his toy with joy. Thank you both!! Nothing, it was perfect for us.
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent little place in a nice quiet spot with a friendly dog. - Deb and Herbie were very friendly - we didn’t need much help but knew it was available if needed. The option to use the separate entrance was good, as we didn’t need to worry about coming back too late. The lodge had everything we needed and was in a nice location to escape from the bustle of day-to-day London. Nothing. One of the air fresheners in the lodge irritated my nose a little, but with the windows open it wasn’t a problem.
- Eugenio (9/5): Our 6 days at the lodge were very enjoyable and would stay there again - Excellent value for money and the hostess is very helpful. There is a cute outdoor area to have coffee or a meal The location is not the best but it is a short walk to bus services and the tube
- Gemma (10/5): Amazing all round - Everything esp doggy
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Steel (9/5): Superb -
- Lillie-mai (10/5): Lovely, accommodating, cozy stay. - Lovely and welcoming host, and a cute companion but her side. the area is very pretty and easily accessible. The lodge has everything you could think of needing for a little stay away. The only thing I could complain about was the curtains. They’re great in the day for letting light in but being a light sleeper it’s harder to fall back asleep with the sun coming through if you wake up during the morning hours
- Abhirup (9/5): Superb -
- Diana (9/5): Superb - The property is very clean and tidy. The host Debby very good lady. The property didn’t have any heating or air conditioning. No any shop around and transport connection not very good. The bath was in main house not in lounge.
- Simon (10/5): Debs & Herbie were an absolute delight. We were made to feel very welcome & enjoyed a relaxing long weekend - Cosy, warm (even without the heating) comfortable The shower being in the house as against the lodge but it something we were aware of beforehand
- Derek (7/5): Good -
- Saxon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): A fabulous, quiet stay in a lovely lodge! - A lovely little lodge with an off grid feel - right on the cusp of busy London! The lodge has separate access which was great as we were coming in a little later - and is beautifully done up with everything you could need for nights stay. Fabulous host Deb - would highly recommend staying here, especially if you’re out locally or looking for a bit of a country feel, whilst visiting the city. Deb is a fab host. N/A
- Merin (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and thoughtful .
Good value for Money. Very friendly and helpful host.
- Clementina (6/5): One night was enough. - The host was great but it was too cold for me, the heating kept going of and having to walk to the shower in the main house was an issue. It was freezing and dark, had I known this I would not have booked it. I also had to use my own passwords to watch Netflix there were no TV channels. OK for one night. The heating system and having to go to the main house to take a shower.
- Paul (10/5): Wonderful property and very comfortable - Great property, and I enjoyed my stay. I look forward to returning again.
- Eimear (10/5): Loved this place, very clean with all amenities - Lovely place to stay, comfortable clean and convenient for travel, would book again.
- Allison (9/5): Superb - The cabin was lovely, it came with all the amenities you need - and even more. Debby is a lovely lady, a great host and always prepared to help you - whether it is giving indications or more towels during rainy days! Just 20 minutes walk from Muswell Hill and East Finchley tube station - although I wouldn't recommend passing through the woods if muddy or at nighttime. Had a lovely time! The shower isn't in the lodge, but inside the house. It's tricky to get in the shower as the door doesn't fully open - and it's not suitable for everybody. During rainy days it is difficult going from the lodge to the shower as the steps to cross the garden are slippery , and of course you'll get wet again by going back to the lodge.
- Eduardo (10/5): Great Hoster - Deb is a great person. Her hospitality was exceptional, the place was clean, and her attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommended! Shower is not in the same apartment
- Artem (10/5): Exceptional - If you are looking for a safe and quiet place - this is the perfect one. The small lodge has everything inside: heating, kitchen with all the cooking stuff, TV, refrigerator and even small WC. The owner is a really friendly and open minded person. The only thing you should keep in mind that there is no shower inside the lodge but you can use the one inside the house. For me it was totally fine to do so. I would love to stay there next time when I decide to visit London again.
- Djbreza (10/5): Exceptional - Lodge 10/10
Deb 10/10
Herbie 11/10 Nothing.
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Jimmy (10/5): A charming, cosy woodland oasis of calm - We stayed at Deb's lodge for a London theatre break for my partner's birthday. The lodge is cute, cosy, comfortable and well appointed with a double bed, ample storage, a great induction hob, kettle, microwave, fridge and breakfast bar. Ample hot water. There's a toilet in the lodge itself and a great shower in the main house, a short walk up the path.
It was lovely to meet Deb who is a very friendly and helpful host and her sidekick Herbie who we looked forward to being greeted by at the door with his toy of choice!
East finchley tube is a 20 min stroll away with good connections to the city via the Northern line. Or there's a bus stop about 10 mins away. We didn't use buses this time but probably would next time to take in more of London.
We had a lovely stay and were sad to leave our little cabin in the woods!
- Aemilia (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing atmosphere ... A little pocket of serenity in north London. Deb is a lovely person and it was a faultless stay. Thanks Deb
- Joy (9/5): Superb -
- Lewis (10/5): Very happy to say excellent value and quality, will use again - Perfect as a base for a weekend visiting family and the smoke. Comfortable with all the amenities you need, 15 min walk to tube through a lovely wood.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - This was an amazing location with great local amenities, our houst deb and her dog Herbert were amazing, amazing quiet night sleep the local ancient forest for walks and adjacent playing fields for exercise or picnic, local residents are welcoming and only a 20 min walk to east finchley underground station, £ 3 ish gets you into London on the northern line, great value for money we loved our stay for our honeymoon break.
- Patrizia (10/5): We had an amazing stay with Deb - the little cabin is very charming and the location is amazing! - Great location, Deb is a very nice host and it was a very comfortable place to stay
- Istvan (9/5): A nice acommodation for a London trip - Deb is a very nice host and we felt really well in her lodge. It is cosy, the size was perfect for 2 of us. It is very well equipped, we could prepare some food ourselves. The location for us was good: although we have had to walk 10-15 minutes to the bus stop, it had direct connections with the city center (we preferred this over to the underground trains as you can see much more from the city's and suburbs' everyday life and it is cheaper). We liked a lot the backdoor access. Although we didn't have issues with it, the shower is in the house, not in the lodge, and access to the shower cabin is a bit limited, the door can't be fully opened. Overall we could just recommend this accommodation and we would happily go back next time.
- Keith (10/5): A little Gem hidden away from the buzzing life of London - Just back from a 3 night stay at Unique Lodge with a view. So glad I did. I felt at home as I was given a very warm welcome by Deb - she is an amazing hostess and her friendly dog Herbie is so lovely. The place is set back from the main road, this is a very friendly and spotlessly clean place to stay surrounded by woods and very quiet too.
Free parking in the street.
Cannot fault it!
Thanks Deb for a smashing stay.
- Jonathan (10/5): Perfect place to enjoy a few days in london - Deb is a very nice and helpful hostess. We could always get in touch with her if we had any questions. The location was very well situated, a walk through the woods took us to east finchley underground station in 30 minutes. If you didn't want to walk that far, the bus connection was also very good.
We were positively surprised by the lodge. very lovely and quiet place to come down after a stressful day in lodon.
- Ludek (10/5): Unconventional place, ideal for a solo traveller seeking a comfortable and quiet place to stay at. - The lodge is comfortable and spotless clean inside. Well equipped kitchenette for basic self-catering. Lovely host who perfectly hit the sweet spot between care and privacy. A quiet place in a nice neighbourhood, when stepping through the back garden door you literally step out into playing fields and woods. Good public transport connectivity, walking distance to Muswell Hill with its many coffee shops and restaurants. And Herbie the Dog is a darling!
- Sykes (10/5): Lovely location, great host - Lovely accommodation, clean and great facilities. Deb was a great host and very welcoming and helpful.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manon (9/5): Rejuvenating after the excitement of London downtown - We really appreciated the welcoming of Deb and Herbie. The lodge is absolutely cute. The location is nice to enjoy parks and a back to the nature. Great tips for the restaurants 👌 Nothing bad to say about the stay. Just the commute if you don't have a rental car and luggages, the transportation takes time and the bolt/Uber are not great (long wait, cancelations).
- Martin (7/5): Good -
- Elisa (10/5): Exceptional - Hello, my name is Elisa. It was very nice here, I loved this place. The price for 6 days was perfect, the location was beautiful, the host was very polite and helped with every question we had. I really recommend this place. :-)
- Brayden (10/5): Comfortable, clean and cozy cabin in a peaceful area, with a lovely host - A very lovely little cabin, very clean and great facilities, with a very modern set up. Deb the owner was lovely and very helpful and very easy to contact. Beautiful location, very quiet part of London and an easy walk to get to transport and to get into the city centre.
- Josevata (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (10/5): A lovely peaceful stay in a lovely accomodation. compact and bijou :) - The location. A gate straight out onto the fields and a lovely walk through the woods to the train station. I can't think of anything. I'd have liked to have had more time to play with the friendly dog.
- Milena (10/5): Exceptional - super comfortable and with all the facilities you need! also perfect if you want to have some privacy.
- Michael (10/5): Had a lovely stay. The host was very welcoming and friendly and the lodge was clean, comfy and homely. Would definitely - lovely, unique space that was very comfortable and homely.
- Prakash (6/5): Though the host was very nice, will not stay here again as the facilities were inadequate. - Deb the host was very nice and accommodating. She even loaned us a power bank when I seemed to be running out of power on my mobile phone. The bathroom was in the main house and NOT in the lodge where we were staying. This was very inconvenient. Also, the toilet and bath were very small. The distance form the property to the bus stop was quite far. No breakfast facility nearby.
- Lilli (9/5): Would recommend any time :) - We had a lovely stay with Deb! The lodge is very neat and it is a nice place to calm down after a busy day in London.
- Sharon (8/5): A good place to stay to explore North London. - In a nice area that we haven’t explored before. The cabin was warm and comfortable with a good serviceable kitchen.
- Alexandr (10/5): Exceptional - waking up in the garden to the singing of birds is a completely unique thing for me
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vixn82 (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely welcome, friendly and inviting, great location for heading into London city on bus or tube, and great places to walk literally on the doorstep. The lodge was clean, well thought out had WiFi, netflix, great kitchen for the size of the lodge. Nothing, we came and went via the back gate rather than going through the house, that was only because we didn't want to disturb the gorgeous dog in the house at random hours of the night!
- Gary (9/5): Very clean and comfortable lodge with great host. Thank you. - Clean, comfortable and a nice location Didn’t realise that the shower was not in the lodge but turned out okay.
- Tamas (7/5): Good -
- Margaret (5/5): Passable -
- Muhammad (9/5): Superb -
