Guest Reviews
- Madeleine (1/5): Avoid at all costs, terrible location and awful host. - Leaving. The booking process is out of touch, they require you to send a selfie holding your ID to a third party platform. I was not comfortable with this and offered to show our IDs when checking in but they refused.
The bathroom was not very clean, there was someone’s hair in the shower and it was mouldy, we had to clean the toilet, and toothpaste on the mirror.
The bed is like sleeping on a wooden plank, and the pillows were so thin and uncomfortable. There is no air con, only a little portable fan that is an awkward height so doesn’t blow air onto the bed. We had to open the doors of the bedroom, which consequently let in all the mosquitos.
The worst part is that the bedroom is directly next to a MAJOR construction site. When we arrived it was noisy, but figured it would stop over the weekend. Had a late night expecting to sleep in, and we were awoken at 7am to an excavator moving building debris and digging what I assume is to be an underground car park. I contacted the host and Booking.com, the host said the construction was described in the fine print - ladies and gentlemen, it was not. The fine print says “there is some construction nearby and guests may be affected by noise”. Nearby is such an understatement. The excavation carried on until mid-afternoon so there was no chance to sleep in the apartment. The host was so unhelpful and uncaring to our situation. Truly my most shocking accomodation experience to date, and I’ve accidentally stayed in a nudist colony.
The photo is the view from the bedroom, I wish I could upload the video to share the noise.
- Colin (6/5): - The location is perfect The stairs, 3 flights, 2 cockroachs, and a building site at the back starting work at 7.30am
- Chris (8/5): Spacious apartment in a great location - Great location and spacious apartment A little noisy with the building work next door
- Andres (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jim (9/5): Superb - Great location, clean and well presented. Air con would be an enhancement.
- Debra (4/5): Great location and view but definitely room for improvement! - The location was fantastic with a great view of the Harbour Bridge, a short walk to Walsh Bay (a lot of stairs!!), The Rocks and Circular Quay. there area was quiet and very pretty with lovely historical homes, churches and businesses all around, including a restaurant and bar right next door, reputed to be haunted and with a fascinating past.
The building is lovely and it has a great history, apparently being one of the the first apartment buildings - if not the first - constructed in Sydney. Unfortunately this means there is no lift and there are three flights of stairs to the top floor - luckily I only had carry on luggage for my short stay. The stairs are wide, well made, safe and well lit, but they would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues.
The apartment is very spacious for a one bedroom and has been nicely renovated with good appliances in the kitchen and laundry. It is well presented with nice furnishings and a large screen TV. There are a few shortcomings. The major and defining issue for me was the bed - I do like a firm mattress and have one at home however the bed in the apartment was dreadfully uncomfortable ☹️ It was like trying to sleep on a concrete slab and I would hesitate to stay there again if the mattress was not replaced or at the very least fitted with the a memory foam topper.
Smaller irritations were the TV not being a smart TV so no streaming services could be accessed, no reverse cycle air conditioning - the apartment was quite cold and the heater not up to the job - and the lack of a key to the balcony door.
