• Emmanuel (5/5): They act like scammers 😔😔😔 - It was central for easy navigation You can’t reach out to administrator once there’s any complain,I see no reason whereby the number on the booking can’t be reached on WhatsApp for international guests…They only gave us 85units of electricity for family of 4 to be used for 8days which they too knows can’t be enough even without not using Air condition..if they want guest to pay for electric state it on booking before someone will book…I see this action as scam…how will it be after booking they will now be given you terms and conditions it’s not fair…more also only kept 2tissue paper for 8days

They opened the gated area for us daily so we could move our boxes and bags. The rooms were comfortable and spacious The lack of cleaning services. It would have been nice and convenient to have cleaning services available, even at an added cost.

• Pitse (10/5): It was a very pleasant stay that felt like a home away from home. - The property is in a residential apartment block so it was beautifully quiet and minimal traffic. That made it perfect for me, a quiet place to rest and work. A terrific shopping centre is walking distance away so I could get great meals and all the shopping necessities were really close by.

• Frank (1/5): Apt 105 Problems - Leaving the place was the best part of the stay Apt: 105 No aircon remotes for the rooms which was a massive inconvenience. There were cochroches in the rooms and bathroom. Clearly this place was not cleaned enough and never fumigated. Insufficient electricity with instructions not to use the a/c's. They expect you to pay for your own electricity after 500 rand of use for 8 nights which is never ever enough especially in Summer time. We were not even at the place during the day till late hours and had to top up the electricity as it cut off in the middle of the night. A foreign visitor would not even know how to do it. This was a very annoying situation. Plus the electricity meter starts beeping in the middle of the night which woke us up several nights. At no stage of the booking this issue was advised. Lack of towels and they were really smelly and grey rather than white. One bed was almost at the end of its lifetime. Extremely noisy even with the slightest turn. In summary, seriously stay away from this place. Very uninterested host.

• James (8/5): It was good! - The Location is close to Morningside shopping center so it was cool No cleaner came over throughout the stay.
• Keabetsoe (2/5): Cockroaches in the apartment! - The security super nice and friendly and the apartment was spacious Unfortunately, my experience at this apartment was quite disappointing. Despite the host’s repeated assurances that the unit was professionally cleaned, it was not up to standard. The windows and sliding doors were visibly dirty, and there was a stale, musty smell throughout the space. I also found mold in the bathrooms, which was very off-putting. The linens and towels were worn, discolored, and had an unpleasant odor. The couch was dirty and had the same musty smell, so I ended up covering it with a throw just to feel somewhat comfortable. The most unsettling part of the stay, however, was the presence of cockroaches in the apartment. This was completely unacceptable—I don’t have cockroaches in my own home, and I felt terrible for having to settle for a place that did. When I reported this to the host, the response was passive and defensive. Upon re-reading some of the past reviews, I noticed a pattern—similar complaints about cleanliness and pests, and similar unhelpful responses from the host. This apartment is in serious need of maintenance and deep cleaning. What you see in the pictures is not what you get in reality. If the owner truly values this property, they need to invest more care and attention into its upkeep

• Emily (1/5): Definitely not booking again. - Location - morningside is beautiful, definitely check out alternative places to stay in the area Poor Communication: 1. Be prepared to be slapped with a R2k security deposit literally hours before checking in. As their own policy, they need to request for the security deposit 7 days BEFORE arrival. Booking.com customer service agreed with me on this. They won’t make any accommodations if you don’t have the R2k to give them right away. We did receive our security deposit back since we did not damage anything. It’s how the communication about this was handled that’s the issue and stained our experience after that. 2. We experienced the rudest customer service. Be prepared for the most condescending and rude responses. Poor maintenance. 1. The accommodation had faults that had not been checked or communicated, the main one being a leaking shower head in one of the bedrooms. The hot water in the showers worked in intervals which was inconvenient. As a guest I shouldn’t have the burden of finding or having to deal with such inconveniences. Once we complained about the showers, we were promptly reminded that we only paid R250 per person basically and given the option to check out before 10am 😂 (mind you we’re all international travels) Anyway we checked in on Tue and the shower wasn’t fixed until Thursday. So there is that. 2. Old furniture - table has a hole in it, and a chair was falling apart. Safety concerns: We were 4 ladies sharing the house and there were moments where the male gardeners would just be our back yard, unannounced and the backyard is open glass and you could see into the house. So we had to be vigilant at all times. (Find photo attached) If guests can get some sort of maintenance schedule to know when to expect such. May not be entirely on the host but they can talk to their management to get a schedule and give guests a heads up. Lastly cleaning - shoddy cleaning was done. So much dust and gunk under the couch.

I had lugg - And also to mention that there were cockroaches in the house, and the dryer does not work. The kettle is also not in good condition. The apartment is spacious, but it would need more investment.

• Natasja (5/5): Different expectations for selfcatering. - The check in was smooth. Felt safe because it's in a complex with security gates. Parking inside as well. Very very limited supplies. Yes even though it's selfcatering small basics that makes a difference felt missing such as the sugar like 3 spoons was there and 1 toilet paper which was there but it seemed super limited even though it was mentioned one would expect it to be a bit more reasonable. There was just one small spoon for example among the crockery. So maybe they can stock up on some items better not too much but just reasonable. One night was enough I wouldn't really stay longer even though it's fine really but not for long stays.

• Refiloe (5/5): It was just okay - The location was great, with plenty of good restaurants nearby, and the check-in process was easy and straightforward Unfortunately, my stay was not as comfortable as expected. The TV remote didn’t have working batteries, so I had to improvise. The WiFi connection was unstable throughout. I also noticed cockroaches in the kitchen, which was quite off-putting. Additionally, there was only warm water available in the mornings—I couldn't even take a proper shower after arriving from a long trip. Overall, the experience was disappointing.

Our Uber had to be offloaded on the road when we arrived there at night and we had to carry all of our luggage through the complex. No JoJo tank/alternative water source.

Loved it!

• Thobani (9/5): Unbeatable value for money hidden gem 💎 - Not a first time guest at The Odyssey luxury apartments (Been a guest at the hotel apartments side multiple times) This apartment was totally different from the other site. Very comfortable,more spacious,clean,quiet! The emphasis on spacious & quiet as the other side is literally like a brothel! The host was professional & responsive. The check in & check out process very seamless. Everything was in good condition inside the apartment. The apartment could use a little refreshment,though well maintained & luxurious,it’s starting to show signs of aging.

• Lumka (7/5): Good - I loved the key box idea to collect keys on arrival. It's brilliant that you can safely leave the keys in the box when you step out and not risk losing them. I didn't like that there I only one set of keys. I had a colleague join me for a night and she was forced to wait for me to complete my work offsite before she should go to the room. She is a heavy sleeper so if she had gone to the room first I would have ended up being locked out. The apartment sadly needs to be fumigated and traps need to be set up. Yes, it's warm weather and critters come out but preventive steps ought to be taken. A can of Doom is a last resort
• John (8/5): Clean and tidy with friendly and professional staff. Good value for money. - Friendly and professional security staff. Neat and tidy apartment. Ubers are usually less than 2 minutes away. Close enough to Sandton Convention Centre if you are in town for a Conference/Expo, etc. Definitely value for money for a two-bedroom apartment. I'm 1.88m (6ft 2in), and the beds aren't extended (I'm not blaming the host, as standard length is the norm). However, the wall-mounted headboard is thick and cuts another 15cm or so off the length. If you pull the bed frame and mattress slightly away from the wall to mitigate this, the bed frame squeaks when you turn in the bed. It's not a deal breaker, but it's just us taller people looking out for each other.

The apartment is not properly cleaned. Has a lot of ants and cockroaches The beds are not comfortable and need to be changed

• Real (4/5): I’m not going to use this property ever again and will not recommend it to my friends and family. - The size of the rooms Lack of communication with host they don’t reply to emails or WhatsApp messages, and we had to go 2 days without hot water. They were quick to receive payment but didn’t care about removing the cockroaches & and ants from the property. The property need to be fumigated urgently.
