Guest Reviews
- Alberto (7/5): -
- Laine (10/5): - We loved the old building, such a character. Our favourite spot in the house was the dinning in the living room. Nothing. We went to Venice to experience it the way locals would, hence the reason we rented place in older building.
- Tiran (8/5): -
- kim (7/5): Would be best for a family or group who plans to stay days or weeks. Quite spacious. Not sure it was worth it for one - Beautiful and spacious We didn’t get the final packet of information so even though we found it on the street, we were perplexed how to get through the very large building to our apartment.
The kitchen was amazing but even though there was a Krups nespresso machine, there were no pods to make coffee, which is the first time I’ve encountered this
No curtains on the west facing dining room and no AC so it got pretty hot

- Lana (3/5): Hot - except for the showers- and historic - The location was nice and away from the crowds. The age and beauty of the palazzo was great. There was only one air conditioner for at least 1000sq ft of space so the entire downstairs atayed hot and humid. When we first arrived the bedroom downstairs was at 82 degrees F. There was not enough hot water for a 10 minute bath. No showers were provided. There were bugs everywhere- ants, mosquitoes, flying bugs- pretty much a little of everything. The furniture was dated and broken pieces everywhere- there were no curtains for the main windows in the foyer so no blocking the sunlight to help cool the place.
- Henry (8/5): Very good - Very large apartment close to the train station and city. Stayed with the Family and there was lots of room. Parents stayed downstairs and the family upstairs. Large lounge room, TV and dining area. Full size kitchen with all the appliances.
I expected the apartments in Venice to be small, this one changed my view, lived like Royalty Having a shower was a little awkward, but we could sit in the bathtub to have a shower.
Stairs to get to the beautiful apartment was circular , 5 floors up so lucky we had young lads to bring the luggage up.
- Vlad (6/5): Different travelers have different needs, sometimes the reviews can be misleading - Everything Not very clean, the twin room was very small, downstairs bedroom was not heating properly
- Elisa (5/5): Beauty isn’t everything - Big rooms. Fully equipped kitchen. Great location Unable to get heater to work. Water pressure for bathing was very weak. Downstairs bed very uncomfortable. Mosquitos in the apartment. Got bit several times during the night. We never opened the windows.
- Samantha (1/5): Location only - The directions to pick up the keys was easy to follow, but finding the property was not easy. The directions were unusable and did not match the current layout of the maps. The person on Wonderful Italy was not helpful. What would have been helpful was a map of the location showing how to get there from the pick up location. Also, neighbours were rude and not helpful. A key to the backdoor of the property would have made accessibility easier. DO NOT BOOK - The only good part is the location. Right near the train station. If you can, just find a hotel. The ad definitely makes it look better than it is.
Cost: overpriced for the quality of what you actually get.
Stairs: 4 flights of curved stairs which make it extremely difficult to get to with any kind of luggage. DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU HAVE ELDERLY PARENTS OR YOUNG CHILDREN.
Building entrance: dark and very difficult to see, with an uneven stone floor. No numbers provided on the houses, so difficult to find the stairs to the front door. Directions provided are not adequate.
Kitchen: broken cupboards and doors, kitchen chairs material are ripped, toaster does not fit into any plug, counters are sticky.
Bathroom: downstairs bathroom has a tub with a handheld shower head. No shower curtain so you have to sit to have a shower or get water all over the floor, which attracts mosquitoes through the window, bidet is blocked up and without a tap so you are not allowed to use it, water pressure in the shower is almost non-existent, you get the bare minimum of toilet paper for a place that can hold four bedrooms worth of people. The upstairs bathroom barely has any water pressure in the shower and of the two sink taps, only one works, and the other sink is blocked up.
Living room: ripped couches that barely have any padding, none of the nice things shown in the ad are included, such as nice pillows, plants etc.
Heating: the heaters were not connected/turned on for use, and the place is quite cavernous, so got very, very cold overnight. Bare minimum blankets and pillows made available to use.
Other issues: broken door handles, light switches that do not work, or do nothing when you flip the switch. Ants - if you leave a single bottle of water out = ants.
Check out: we had to remove our own rubbish and take it to a collection point nowhere near the property. Never had to do this before ever, and did not appreciate this being sprung on us after check in.
BAD!
- Lam (8/5): Spacious apartment - Location is really good, very close to the train station, easy to access to anywhere around Venice. Supermarket just few mins away. A lots of restaurants around that area. Staffs are nice and helpful. Apartment is really spacious, good enough for 7 people. Apartment is at the top floor without lift, stairs are steep and narrow. Apartment entrance and lobby are completely dark. Main problem is unfriendly neighbors, which we got compliant when just moved in, stairs walking is noisy that we understand, but at 3pm in the afternoon, a little sound should be acceptable. Furniture are really old and some damage, should be replaced.
- Shengelia (8/5): Very good -
- Níamh (7/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this historical building. We loved hearing about the history of the Palazzo Gradenigo. - Historical features, location, balcony, size.
Air conditioning.
Beds are very comfy.
We loved the old grandeur of the property and the unique style and details. Lack of water pressure upstairs.
Lack of sower facilities, no sower curtains, nowhere to hang shower heads.
Several door handles fall off.
There were a lot of ants around the sink and in the dining area.
Lack of working lights in the entrance hall on the ground floor - this was difficult coming in at night time.
Guests would benefit from labeled bins to sort waste.
Guests would also benefit from a screenshot of the directions from google maps for the key location and accommodation entrance.
- A (9/5): It was near to the main station, we liked the stay - Spacious rooms, felt living in house with lot of history. Main Entrance to the apartments in ground floor lighting weren’t working during our whole stay.
Lot of pdf instructions, too much communication but when in need call unanswered.
4th floor -without lift very difficult to handle luggage
- Armine (3/5): Poor - Location. The pictures does not reflect the reality, very ancient furniture, door nobs coming out, dirty dishes, no curtains in the bathroom, bed mattress very bad, fossils are barely alive, the price is way higher than the quality of the property
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andris (6/5): Pleasant - Location is conveniently located to the central station The terrace is located on the second floor of the apartment, accessible only via bedroom or bathroom.
- Elisa (2/5): Definitely not worth the price. - The location was the only thing okay about this place. Ot was hard to get to, it was a hassle to get to it, the staff was not helpful, it was dirty, there were ants everywhere, the instructions were not easy to follow, the appliances were old and many were not functioning, and there were ants all over the kitchen.
- Gail (8/5): Nice property room to spread out. - The key location was convenient to the bus drop off and instruction was great. There were ants infested in the kitchen and first floor bathroom.
Upon leaving instructions should also tell guests to unlock iron gate prior to leaving keys in kitchen table to avoid getting locked in courtyard.
- Žardalevičiūtė (7/5): Should be cheaper for this quality. - Very good location, easy to find. Two minutes from the train station and p. Roma. Shop is near, good restaurants and cafes around. Apartament is big, kitchen is fully equipped, even tho not too much cutlery for so many people. Nice views from the sitting and the upper balcony. The floor was very dirty, everything was dusty. Apartment looks different than in the pictures - no rugs, no flowers. Only one set of keys. Many ants in the kitchen. Apartment is on the fourth floor, so you have to climb 78 steps up. No elevator. One AC was not working, one room had 0 lights. We found a full ashtray in one balcony.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Despite our comments above all of us would return, its a fabulous apartment as is Venice - We loved the fading grandeur of the property, its location and aura (when we eventually found it), the size, layout and quirkiness - accessed by a spiral staircase to the top floor. The terrace was an added bonus - fabulous views and sunsets, lovely bed linen, comfy beds, plenty of space to hang up clothing, large fridge and dishwasher. In need of some TLC to make it superb (and we so wanted to say it was). Cracked cups, a dining room chair which needs re-upholstering, the door handles are loose on one of the bathrooms, luckily no-one got trapped inside, the showers need to be positioned on the wall, no ceiling light in one of the bedrooms, no visitor information - it would be lovely to read about the history of the building, no tea towels and we bought our own, no table cloth. Struggled with the directions to find the property as there is no green bridge anymore (needs updating) WiFi address can be found on the modem itself (the one noted on the entrance table is incorrect).
- Antonia (5/5): Passable - Nice view, apartment size good for bigger group We found broken glasses in the cabinets.
The kitchen was completely full of Ants around the windows and the sink.
Additionally only one dishwasher-tab was provided for 7 people, not even paper towels or kitchen towels.
Completely worn-out chairs at the dining table were almost unbearable to sit on.
Also only a single remote control for the air conditioning as the battery of the others were empty/not existent.
The table on the roof terrace was incredibly dirty as well as just 4 chairs provided.
No handrail on the stairs (not suitable for older people).
Lastly one of the sink fitting was broken in the bathroom.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (8/5): We love Venice - The location and size of the property was great Five flights of stairs and there were a lot of quirky things about it due to the age
- Ryan (10/5): Spacious Unique Apartment - Great apartment when traveling in a group. Spacious with a rustic feel. Walking proximity to all the sights and the train station. The spiral staircase when carrying luggage
- Ainar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miguel (8/5): Overall good stay, just check the rules before booking. - The apartment is beautiful and very well located. The host never told me about the apartment rules before booking this place, I have never stayed in a place that asked me to take all the trash with me at check out and they did, I had to take all the trash with me at check out because if we didn't the host would charge a $50.00 euros fee. Also we booked this place because we needed an apartment with 2 bathrooms but one of them was not working properly so basically we just had 1 bathroom available during our stay and that wasn't very convenient for us since we were a group of 6. I understand we had to keep the apartment in good conditions during our stay but I felt like it was our responsibility to do the cleaning of the place before leaving because besides the trash there are any other fees if you don't wash your dishes or put everything in place before leaving. I have stayed in different apartments while traveling and this was the first place I was asked to do all of this. The apartment is beautiful and comfortable and overall I would recommend this place but I think the rules are not good since we were on a vacation and the last thing we wanted to worry about is taking the trash with us to avoid getting finned by the host.
- Felipe (10/5): Amazing flat - Amazing flat, very spacious, pretty, comfortable, and well equipped. The location was great too, quite close to the train station, restaurants, and shops. We would definitely stay again. I totally recommend it!
- Marton (9/5): Superb - Location was great, Despite the flat is close to pza. Roma, it's silent and very authentic venezian. Spacious enterieur with antic furnitures. Couldn't plug in the toaster.
- Kristina (8/5): Very good - The place was very beautiful, nice and big, in a good location, very nice balcony and big rooms. There was unfortunately in the beginning just one key for 7 people (!!!). And on the booking page the host told me it's not possible to have another key which is really strange. After another call it was possible to give us a second key, but it was still inconvenient to share it between all the people.
Also, the door handles are falling off the doors, once we were really scared that all the stuff was stuck in the locked room without a door handle and it happened in the evening and nobody answered the phone to help us.
In one bedroom only the small lamps worked, it was really dark.
You have to take the trash away yourself somewhere far away from the place.
- Scott (5/5): sorry but I would not recommend for any of my friends. - close to station was not aware of the steps. my mother of 70 had hard time. Ants in apartment. run down couch and furniture.
- Motasam (3/5): We were not satisfied with property - It was ancient No elevator
No clean
Staff behavior wasn’t good
- Emerson (9/5): It was a great value for the stay and location. - Love how conveniently close it is to the train station and key pick up location. We didn’t have drag bag very far. There was a ton so space to fit all family of 6 there. Main bedroom upstairs was very stiff. It made sleeping a little difficult.
- Hiroko (6/5): Location was good, but I wouldn’t book again - too many problems. - Location was good. The apartment is huge! Communication with property manager was good, but they just couldn’t get things fixed. Small twin beds are too soft - you practically sink to the floor when you sit/lay on them. Of the 2 bathrooms, only one had had running water. And so we had 7 people sharing one bathroom. Maintenance apparently came by to fix it, but we still couldn’t make it work. I was asked via email if I had turned the knob all the way…of course I tried that! There were also ants in the kitchen- at first only a few, but then a lot. Maintenance did not address that issue even though I reported it. Stairs up to the apartment are lovely, but it’s a lot to walk up/ down them with luggage because they do not have an elevator. Plus, there are a lot of rules to follow. If you don’t follow them, you are threatened with a fine. I’m generally a rule follower, but goodness, there were a lot of rules.
- Ping (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janellen (8/5): Incredible location, spacious, old-world apartment - This property was the most unusual place I’ve ever stayed. It felt sooooo authentic and uniquely Venetian. It was incredibly spacious and very comfortable. The entryway to courtyard to charming spiral staircase were all from out of a movie… (the romantic appeal wears off a bit after a long day of walking and then facing the spiral staircase! And those with large luggage beware! But we were traveling light so I thoroughly loved the stairs!) Just the tiniest wish that the property had provided a few small items - hand soaps, coffee filters, adequate dish towels, a few essentials like creamers or sugar. It is a very well appointed space and the kitchen had all the pots/pans and equipment for cooking, but for the unprepared traveler, it required a trip to the nearby market to get some basic supplies. Also a little confusing about the trash removal - but I can appreciate how difficult it must be for Venice to handle so many visitors, so a small effort on our part was worth it overall! And overall I felt very privileged to stay here.
- Kate (7/5): Good -
- Jonna (7/5): Beautiful space in general close to train station - The size of the apartment is amazing and the location is great! The beds were horrible, especially the bed in the downstairs bedroom. Part of it is completely collapsed when you sit on it. The white leather furniture in the living room is terribly used, torn and dirty. It should’ve been replaced a long time ago. Instead, they covered it up with pieces of material that easily slide off when you sit down. Also not enough paper products or kitchen towels provided.
- Miroslav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): It is a marvellous place - splendid location there should have been a key to the port to the backdoor to the canal
- Sangeeth (9/5): Great location and property In a historical building. Only negative is the lack of Lift access. - Very spacious and in a good location. Nice vintage decor. It is on the 4th floor without lift access, a small spiral staircase is the only way.
- Wei (10/5): if you want to have an extra experience in Venice, definitely stay this apartment. - Very big apartment in the historic building, very close to train station but also the city, we enjoyed our stay. water a bit small in the shower, but was okay for us.
- Thorsten (9/5): Very nice location, would rent it again - Spacious, good equipment. Fantastic location, nearby train station and P.le Roma Nothing wrong with the apartment, but many stairs to walk up. We had a 80 year old mother with us, so that was a bit if a challenge. But we would definitely rent again👍
- Kathleen (1/5): bad experience. no showers and no elevator. not helpful staff - good space a lot . no elevator and steel stairs on 4 th floor . no showers needs updating . Bad staff
- Roberta (10/5): It was a great success. Grazie!± - I loved the possibility of my friends and I being able to gather together, informally, for breakfast and occasional meals.
- Darrin (10/5): Excellent stay, very nice place. - Very nice place. Good hosts who were kind and accommodating. Place is right across the canal from the train station. It's spacious, lots of natural light. The only quibble would be that the lock box for the key is not at the apartment, it's in another location entirely. When we went, the trip to the lock box was a bit onerous with luggage and a baby stroller, and it was raining. Another small note - it's VERY easy to find the apartment, but the directions make it seem difficult.
- Alison (8/5): A lovely spacious flat in a good location let down by poor housekeeping and maintenance. - The flat is roomy and spacious. The views are lovely. The kitchen provisions were very poor- no dishwasher tablets, no cloths, no tea towels.
The wiring throughout the flat is in a very poor condition. Some sockets were barely attached to the walls. Bulbs in lamps were broken, and many lamps appeared to be broken. The twin bedroom had no functioning light.
