Guest Reviews
- Sara (9/5): Lovely, spacious and central location for a wonderful time in Venice. - The location is central to most things without being right in the thick of it which we thought was handy. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and there is plenty of room to spread out. There is only hand wash supplied, shampoo and conditioner would have been helpful as these are heavy items to have to pack and bring along, and because most apartments supply these, we didn't have any on us.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- David (4/5): A great, fun, family stay - overshadowed by awful customer service. - Location is superb, being right by Campo San Polo.
The style of the accommodation was a bonus. Yes, it's very dark, but it's also very cool and the decor seemed fitting for the city.
It's a spacious apartment for a family of four, with two good bathrooms and extra facilities like washing machine and dishwasher. Terrible management and a disregard for us as customers or guests.
We had communicated with the owner over emails 5 months before, agreeing arrival time of 15:00-16:00. The owner said that an earlier check-in may be possible, but talk closer to the time. Then we engaged with them again in the week beforehand, to remind them. No responses. So we arrived 15:30 and called them, as instructed. No answer on the first few attempts. Eventually we got through on the phone and were told to write down another number, but not too call it, only message over WhatsApp. At this point we're stood outside the front door, with two children, messaging a faceless number on WhatsApp. They said they didn't have a record of the booking, so asked us to wait whilst they investigated.
After far too long, we eventually got confirmation back and were given the pin to enter the building, saying it was an issue between the owner and the management company. A very disappointing and stressful start after a 27hr train adventure to get there.
There's a lot of simple improvements to be had on that front.
All comms stored in Booking.com messages.
Noise is a big issue on two sides of the apartment, as it's adjacent to a passageway. So you clearly hear all conversations as people walk by. Not such a problem from the front doorway, as it's further from the second bedroom. However, the window in the main bedroom has a fault at the top lock and so noise is not insulated. Basically, you get a good sleep between 1am and 6am, but a lottery around those times.
- Peter (8/5): A great choice if you’re looking for room for a bigger family. Location was fabulous and the host was amazing with all t - Great location with plenty of room for the family. Well heated for the weather. might be time to invest in some new pillows.
- Frederic (9/5): Fantastic - Ideal location in Venice Wifi too poor in the bedrooms
- The (8/5): Had an awesome time, great location and base to explore a city. Typically Venetian. - Superb location - easy to pop back to during the day, spacious clean and comfortable. Typically Venetian.
We walked with cases (& 7 YO) from bus station in 20 min (I wouldn’t bother with boat just to get there). Rialto bridge approx 5-10min walk. St marks 15-20min.
We recommend if you have a travel pass to sit on vapporeto and do whole loop of canal. Also go out on canal at night, so much to see and beautiful. Lighting could be better, a little dingy. The door code didn’t always work sometimes taking 4/5 attempts but always got there in the end so no need to panic!
WiFi very weak so would recommend having data (this too often weak in the city).
- Amy (6/5): Good space, disappointing condition - Location was amazing and the size of the space was amazing. Great kitchen and air con. The place had not been opened or aired out, there was dust and mold. We had to spray with air freshener and crank the air con to try freshen it up. Laid sheets on the couch to sit on. With a freshen clean this place would be impossible to beat but for the price it felt like it should have been better kept.
- Lïa (4/5): Disappointing -
- Robin (8/5): Charming stay in Venice - Traditional apartment in a good location - 15 minutes from the main train/bus station and walking distance from other sights. Very charming, good kitchen and quite spacious.
The apartment was also very cool, even in the hot weather outside, which was really nice. And if needed, there are also airconditioners.
The apartment, beds (3 bedrooms which can hold in total 6 people) and bathrooms (2) were also all clean. The host was initially somewhat difficult to reach, but once we got a connection it was very easy and friendly. I recommend for you to reach out a few days before, then it should all be fine.
One of the showerhead-holders was broken (the shower itself worked, but the piece that holds the showerhead was broken off). But there was a second shower. It was not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience.
Also, just be aware that there is little to no natural daylight. This is quite typical for Venice from what we could tell, but still something to be aware of.
- Hilary (7/5): Mixed feedback - Spacious and near to nice restaurants. Comfortable bedrooms with lots of privacy for two couples or a family and a couple.
Spa bath in one of the bathrooms was nice. There was no natural light due to the situation of building so dark all the time and needed more light bulbs.
The holiday let company did not give you enough information on how to get to the property from the airport - If you are going get the number 5 bus or similar from airport to pixxale Roma and then you get a water taxi to San Silvestore. You get (slightly vague) walking directions to there
If you need to store baggage on your return home you go to Ca D'oro - come out of water bus road turn left go over the small bridge and turn left after the sunglasses shop to their holding room at 3694 .on the 2nd floor - you need to carry cases up two flights of stairs as no lift.
The kitchen and living room.were not conducive to sit in during the day as they were so dark.
Showers were rustic!
- Zīverte (8/5): BEAUTIFUL and spacious apartment. - What a BEAUTIFUL and spacious apartment. Antique furniture pieces and elegant interior design. Kitchen with no lack of pots and pans, cups, glasses, plates, etc. Conveniently located, surrounded by bars, restaurants, and cafés. It's a 1-minute walk to the local convenience store one way and even less the other way to the beautiful San Polo square. About 10-15 minutes away from the Rialto.
Since the apartment is located on the ground floor, not much light gets inside. This is mitigated by the array of lighting options – every single room, including the bathroom, had several lamps. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to get the TV to work so we missed out on some Italian TV (which we were looking forward to). Another downside – due to the thick walls it was difficult to get any mobile coverage. The same goes for the WiFi – it was very poor in most of the apartment. This might be improved with a stronger router. There were five of us but we all had to share a single key – a problem we managed to solve using the box with a code on the outside of the house.
All in all, however, we are happy with our stay and recommend this to anyone hoping to experience some kind of authentic living in Venice.
