She has prepared a lot of information for us to get familiar with the town. Knowing we would be leaving in the afternoon, she kindly offered us lugguage storage service, which we appreciated greatly. The house was clean. It was very quiet during the night, which surprised us. We had a very good experience staying in the property!

• Jose (10/5): Central, yet quiet, with a very responsive host - Scala Family Home is a clean and central, yet quiet place, with sufficient space for a family of five. It is very close to the Santa Maria Novella station and the stop for the T2 airport tram. The hostess, Sasa, promptly answered all our questions before arrival and provided needed guidance. She was also flexible with check-in and check-out. She was very responsive to our specific needs and generously provided supplies for our six-night stay (coffee, dishwasher soap, paper towels, sugar, salt, dish liquid, shampoo, etc.). The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, and Sasa readily provided the few additional items we requested. The a/c works well. There are individual units in each room. The rooms are larger than they appear in the photos. Of note, the dining table unfolds to double in size in the pictures. There are multiple grocery stores within walking distance. Carrefour Express is the closest; Conad City is larger, but further away. Overall, we had a great experience at Scala Family Home and would definitely stay here again! The bath towels did not dry well. We used the hair dryer to complement them. Guests should be advised that Florence has a ZTL (a zone of limited traffic access), an increasingly common restriction in major Italian cities. Cars that enter the central part of the city without a permit will be heavily fined (electronically enforced). The Scala Family Home can be accessed by car without entering the ZTL, but one has to be very careful to follow a specific route into the city. Guests should check the web for information. We only found out about the ZTL by chance. If you arrive by car, you will have to unload your suitcases by double-parking in front of the property.
• Saliba (7/5): Good for a short stay if you want to be close to the station. - Very clean, friendly host, spacious. Towels are bad quality, outside terrace could be improved.
• Rosabel (8/5): Great place, very close to the train station - If you have big bags coming from the train station, this apartment is for you. Just a block from the train station, there's no need to drag your luggage through so many cobbled streets. We had a really easy time getting to the apartment, and so many restaurants, stores and a grocery very close by. Even a wine window on the same street! The host, Sassa, also gave us some great tips on where to eat, La Buchetta was amazing, thank you! The location was a bit farther away from the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio than I would have liked. Still close by, less than 2kms away, very walkable still. Lots of space, with a kitchen, patio and living area, one bathroom.

Balconies on both sides with views of outdoors and an outdoor sitting area which we didn’t use because the weather wasn’t quite warm enough. The kitchen and bathroom were very well equipped. The bathroom is particularly large, bright and comfortable with large, modern shower. Narrow stairs, but only one flight and better than many other accommodations we stayed in.

Close to the attractions - Duomo, Uffizi etc. Fair number of restaurants and squares also within walking distance. Comfortable accommodations. The host had provided a couple of extras that we didn't find at other locations we'd rented in Italy - example, shampoo, soaps, coffee pods, instant coffee, tea, etc. There is also a small washing machine that is shared with the other apartments...came in handy as we did 2 small loads. The host also made some restaurant recommendations and was very willing to accommodate our schedule at departure.
• Spencer (8/5): Sasa is a star, she has some great suggestions on where to eat and what to do. - Location near the main station proved to be a huge bonus. Everything in Florence is within walking distance. Though located only a street away from a bustling location the residence was sooooo quiet.

Walking distances to main places of interests in the town. Two toilets are good for family travel. The laundry is shared with the room upstairs under same management. No issue with it. Don’t understand why there were mosquitoes in Winter. We found mosquitoes flying in when we opened the door.

• Laura (8/5): You're renting an apartment not a whole house, it's an upstairs or a downstairs, just clarify! - The apartment was clean and super close to the train station and main attractions. You feel like a local with the proximity of this apartment to all major areas. Several shops, restaurants, and leather markets nearby. This was a very quaint apartment. When you look up this location it states Scala Family Home, and with the pictures you are under the assumption you are renting a whole house with a backyard, that is not the case, this is actually 2 separate apartments, one upstairs and one downstairs. We had the upstairs, no access to the backyard, and the stairwell to reach the upstairs is extremely narrow, you will struggle with your suitcases if they are medium - large. The apartment is very nice once inside, but I wish this would have been described when you rent the location, it's an apartment not a house. Especially because my parents struggled going up those narrow stairs.

• Diane (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable few days in Florence in a well equipped centrally located apartment. - Location! Location! Location! Very central, minutes from the main railway station and within easy walking distance of all of Florence’s main attractions. The kitchen is well equipped. The living/dining room is small but comfortable. The beds and bedrooms were also comfortable though lacked a small vanity mirror in each. Well equipped bathroom. Saca the property owner was charming, helpful and responsive to our queries. Stairs to the first floor were narrow and a likely to be a challenge to someone with mobility issues.

Some basics were provided which we appreciated e.g. coffee, tea, sugar, salt. It is very close to the train station and the surrounding area seems a bit dangerous at night. Not too bad but you need to be aware.

• Raphael (10/5): A perfect place to stay with your family steps from the train and major sightseeing attractions! - Saša's apartment was great for our family with two children. We enjoyed eating outside on the terrace and admire the plants in the garden. The apartment was spotless clean. The air conditioners worked great which was such a relief coming from the outside in August! Saša was very helpful answering questions and had plenty of information about how to use appliances in the house and what to do around the area. Additionally what we really liked is that the apartment was not facing the street and was very quiet. It was very helpful that the apartment was located within 5 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station and also around 10 minute walk to the Duomo and other tourist attractions. There is a supermarket just around the corner which was very handy as well. The luggage storage facility is just steps away from the apartment. In summary we are very happy we were able to stumble upon Scala Family House for our vacation in Italy!

• Erin (9/5): Great 2 bedroom apartment with easy access to train station and rest of Florence - The apartment is located 5 min walk from train station and within 10-15 min walk to all over Florence. The host was so responsive and even let us put our bags in the apartment before checkin so we could walk around. Great 2 bedroom apartment. My teenage boys slept in bunk beds and were fine. The apartment had a well stocked kitchen. My husband made breakfast for our family in the morning. The supermarket in right around the corner of the apartment. So easy! I would stay here again for sure! The towels were a little small. But if that is all we can complain about then you know it’s a good place!
• La (9/5): Excellet property and an even more excelelt owner. Bravisimo Sasa! - The unit was comfortable and clean and very near the train station. The owner was very fast to respond to a bad odor in the bathroom caused by the local drought. Sasa is awesome and gave us numerous tips on places to eat and visit. The unit is really nice but to get to it you need to pass through a small courtyard that seems to be a mosquito breeding ground. That could be improved.

• Luciano (10/5): A great property in a great Location! - Location is excellent. Just a 2 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Walking distance to all the beauty Florence has to offer. The apartment is very clean and very comfortable. Everything you could want is provided. All in all a great 4 night stay in this stunning city. We were not met by the host but by her friend for check-in. We felt she was not as thorough explaining things as we would expect.
