Guest Reviews
Grazie mille!
- Geraldine (9/5): - It is a really cute, old apartment in a great part of Rome. It is cozy and a little bit dark
, was cool despite the hot days and the patio is wonderful for sitting outside and having breakfast. We only used the gas stove which worked fine. Don't know about the oven. It is almost picturesque and felt more like a home than an apartment. Nothing. If you need a modern environment, want everything new and love the standard hotel rooms, then this is just not your place.

- Mari-Liis (10/5): Very good vacation place! - Very good location. Cafes and everything right back the door. You can walk to anywhere. Apartment was just like a italian house.

- Mia (1/5): Overall, we had a very unpleasant stay and would not recommend this accommodation. It falls far below acceptable standar - Honestly the space is the only positive about this place We stayed at this property for 4 nights and, unfortunately, were very disappointed with the overall condition of the accommodation — especially given the price we paid.
From the moment we arrived, there was a strong damp smell throughout the apartment, which never went away. Everything felt damp to the touch, and by the end of the stay, both my partner and I had developed coughs — despite not using the air conditioning — which we suspect was due to the damp conditions and poor air quality.
Cleanliness was another major issue. The bedroom floor was dirty, the shower had not been properly cleaned, and worst of all, we noticed bugs in the bed. We were also shocked to learn that the bed comforter is simply stored in the cupboard between guests and not washed. That is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable for any standard of accommodation.
There were several maintenance and safety concerns as well:
Shower: The water pressure was very weak, making it difficult to wash properly, and the shower door didn’t close fully.
Toilet: Leaking from both the top and the side.
Windows: The right-hand window didn’t close properly.
Lighting: Lights flickered and sometimes turned off on their own. Shockingly, one was being held up by tape and another by a toothbrush, which is a serious safety hazard.
Wi-Fi: Did not work in the bedroom at all.
No hand wash was provided, which is a basic necessity.
Outside the apartment, the situation wasn’t much better. The neighbors were extremely noisy, and the apartment faces busy streets, so restful sleep was difficult to come by. There’s also a steep stairway downstairs which smells terrible and appears to be out of use, adding to the sense of neglect.
When we raised our concerns with the owner, the only response we received was: “We keep note and will adjust the things in the apartment.” However, after reading other reviews with the exact same complaints, it’s clear that nothing is ever actually done to address these issues.
- mirjana (6/5): Great location - Great location, Trastevere is amazing, such a good vibe at night great restaurants and the atmosphere is so much fun. The apartment itself really needs some tender loving care; just simple updating of the amenities would help but still keeping its character and charm. Needs a very good clean with a pressure hose, and new bed pillows as the current ones are so thin with no head support. The neighbours above the apartment can be very loud keep this in mind. Positive fabulous location.

Fin in quadri ero ricoperti.
- Emily (7/5): - Fabulous location. Smooth check-in process. A bit musty and the bathroom could use a deep clean.
- Oscar Javier (7/5): - Lots of humidity from the lower area, they could have mentioned that.

- Erin (8/5): We really loved our stay here in Trastevere! - Great location. Air conditioning. Spacious. Pull out couch was not very comfortable.
- Conor (9/5): Great stay in Travestere. - Great location. Lots of charm and character. Simple check in. Responsive and pleasant staff. No complaints.

- Eve (10/5): Lovely place, great location - We loved our stay. The location is ideal and gorgeous. The apartment is full of character, with a cute little courtyard for an evening drink after a day’s sightseeing.
- Fabiola (10/5): Cozy and traditional stay in trastevere. - It was very cozy and it felt very traditional. Everything was very clean. I loved the design and how everything was antique. It truly felt like if I was living in Italy for those few days or like if I was staying at an Italian friend’s house. This place is in the heart of Trastevere which means you can go outside and just a few steps away you will find hundreds of restaurants and to be honest I tried like 5 restaurants and every single one was exceptional, everything tasted amazing. Main attractions like Plaza Navona, pantheon, Fontana di Trevi are close (15-25) min walking which is fantastic, because when you are in Rome a lot of the times walking is faster than taking the bus or uber. Bus/Metro station is around 8 min walk. I liked everything. If I had to say something it would be the pillows. Wish they were a little fluffier. But everything was very exceptional.
- Andres (8/5): Italian experience - Deep dive into a Italian home, in a very traditional neighborhood.
- Julia (9/5): Superb - Cozy apartment with lots of quirky and historical features. Staff was friendly and accommodating, we were able to check in earlier. Excellent location with plenty of restaurants and bars around the corner, although the apartment itself is located in a quiet side street. It was not too far to walk into the city centre. There are also good public transport options available nearby. Good kitchen facilities. Some toiletries were included. The outdoor seating area was very nice, although it was a bit cold to sit outside during our visit in January. No kitchen towels available. Some noise from the street outside during the nights, probably most noticable to those sleeping in the living room, although it was not too much of a disturbance. The beds were quite hard, however I suppose that’s a matter of individual preference, I personally slept quite well. The apartment is also quite dark, as it is located on basement level.
- James (1/5): Avoid - The location is in the heart of Trastevere. It's amazing if you want to have a full immersion in the real Roman life. The apartment is very old and smells very bad. There are stairs that take to a dark basement and where you're not allowed to go.
Furniture is old and not practical. Bed and pillows are very uncomfortable, and the bed blanket is a sauna.
The state of the bathroom hygiene is unacceptable. The stink that comes out is disgusting and vile. We had to keep the window open 24/7 and freeze in order to breathe some air. The shower is so dirty that I truly believe it has never been washed. It was utterly unacceptable.
- Ronda (4/5): Smelly apartment. Would not stay there again. - Great location. Nice sized apartment. Appreciated that host let us check in early. Apartment has a horrible musty moldy smell. Probably not even healthy to breathe in there. No hot water in the kitchen. Only a small towel for drying dishes. Hair dryer did not work in the bathroom receptacle, had to use it in the bedroom in a power strip attached to the wall - and not near a mirror. Poor instructions on how to operate the heat.
- Daniele (10/5): We had a very pleasant stay in Trastevere close to all the sites we wanted to see. The courtyard is- -
- Antonio (5/5): Fun experience, quirky apartment, great location. - This apartment in Trastevere had a lot of character to it which made the vibe of the place really nice. The location was good and I can see how people visiting Rome would like to stay there. You can walk almost any sight from Trastevere but the location is quite touristy. I brought my fiance to Rome for the first time so we wanted to see some sights but if you want a more local experience then I don't know if I'd stay in this neighborhood. The vibe at night on the weekends is mostly young locals partying in the streets. That was really fun to see but we didn't partake. Overall, it was a nice experience but I do prefer other parts of Rome more, away from tourists. While the apartment had character it did feel pretty dirty and musty. You're basically halfway into a basement and it being an Italian house, there is absolutely no airflow unless you open the door to the street and the door out back. The bathroom has no ventilation so we had to put our towels outside so they would dry and not get moldy. We like to cook when we come to Italy and take advantage of the amazing ingredients they have available however the kitchen was poorly stocked. There were no kitchen towels, the dish soap was watered down, the knives were dull and broken, there wasn't a strainer so making pasta was quite difficult, and most of the dishes and utensils were dirty so they had to be cleaned before use. When we opened the Bialetti to make espresso it was filled with moldy water and old coffee so that wasn't pleasant. This was frustrating to say the least given the price we paid to stay here. Another thing, not a complaint but I felt weird doing it as there was no way to sort our waste. Italy has very specific sorting methods to sort glass, tins, plastics, papers, organics, etc. but the bins to do this weren't provided. I don't know if this was just Trastevere or because they don't expect tourists to follow these rules so it's easier not to provide the bins but we ended up leaving our used wine bottles, etc. for the hosts to dispose of. Additionally, I mentioned the bathroom but there was also not a garbage can in the bathroom and the hand soap dispenser was just filled with extremely watered down soap that it was barely even soap anymore. I think fixing some of these issues would greatly improve a guests stay here.
- Greta (9/5): Characterful apartment in a great location - Cute apartment in a great location. Very characterful with decent kitchen facilities. It is spacious and perfect for two people.
- André (10/5): Superb stay - would do it again! - It's in the heart of Trastevere. Really nice to leave your apartment and immediately be in the hussle and bussle of Trastevere. Superb! The apartment was well air-conditioned (a must for the summer heat). The bathroom was clean and the kitchen (while basic) was well functioning. The sofa bed was comfortable enough for the 3 days that we stayed there. I would definitely rent this place again. It's close to everything. Some small things: there's a ground floor that's not in use (basement looking) but it was a bit of a dusty smell that lingers throughout the apartment; they can buy some proper cups, glasses and mugs; there are only 2 proper set of bowls and cutlery (two spoons, two forks) even though the place can easily sleep 4 people (we were 3).
- Alice (9/5): Superb -
- Nikolai (4/5): Strong mold smell, mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, spiders web in the kitchen and in some other corners, dust, some - Location Strong mold smell, mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, spiders web in the kitchen and in some other corners, dust, someone's lenses stuck on the bedside table, very dark, small windows e.t.c
- Julio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (8/5): Good room in the heart of Rome’s historical center! - The location, flat’s ambience and staff responsiveness It could be a bit cleaner and less humid
- Zoi (10/5): Great stay! - A lovely, cozy place in the heart of an amazing neighborhood. If you like walking then everything is close by if you don't there are 2 bus stops next to it in about 5min walk.
The bed was comfortable, the living room spacious and nice to relax after a long day with Netflix!
Many restaurants and bars in the area and interested places to visit!!
The responsible person for the apartment gave us really useful information and she was really carrying. Be careful as it has late check in penalties after 19.00
The bathroom had a weird smell but I guess is because there not much sun in the apartment as it is 2 3 floors under the ground!
- Katie (7/5): Good -
- Nemanja (7/5): Nice place in nice location for short period of time - The property is in really good location, good for short trips to sleep over if your plan is to stay outside most of the time exploring Rome. Interesting interior, rustic look with many details for those who like it. Didn’t like the moldy smell from the basement that was coming in the living room where is the sofa. One friend of mine is allergic to mold so wasn’t comfortable for sleeping as the sofa wasn’t that comfortable too.
- Gerald (2/5): Could have been great but ... - Enclosed terrace garden was good.
Size of property and location was fine. Property is rundown/shabby and needs urgent maintenance/repairs. Eg. Despite property pictures showing working bedside lamps they were broken and power points didn't work so swapping lamps from other areas was not an option. Power points in kitchen and bathroom didn't work either. The property didn't supply dishwashing liquid, sponges or tea towel so washing dishes after a meal was very difficult. Kitchen tap is faulty and sprays everywhere. A deep clean wouldn't go astray either..
- Bianca (7/5): The apartment was in an excellent location in the heart of Trastevere. I didn’t use the living room as there was only on - The location was excellent It was a little dated. The lights were scattered. The furniture in living quarters was sparse and dated. The power points didn’t work on our Italian adapters. The host gave us his adapter to use
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Annette (10/5): Would definitely recommend staying here ! Any queries we had were quickly answered by hosts - The location was ideal , 30 mins by car (£60 taxi) and 40 mins walk from main attractions which was perfect as we like an active holiday . In the evening we had so many bars and restaurant just down the cobble streets . The apartment was spacious real old and comfortable with great shower! The beds were comfortable and had everything we needed including wee private outdoor space to have breakfast It didn’t use normal European plugs I think it (L) so all our things line phones ect died until we went shops to get adapters which were available everywhere but we had no directions on phone lol easy sorted though
- Guna (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, right in the middle of Trastevere, but a quiet street without noise.
The person who met us was very efficient, friendly and helpful.
The AC worked well and the apartment was nice and cool. The apartment was dark, the light switches didn’t make any sense and there was a lamp in the living room we never figured out how to turn off, which means one of us had to sleep in the light room.
There were ants in the living room/kitchen all over the place. Spider webs and spiders in the corners.
Mouldy floor on the terrace from the water leaking from the washing machine which was not cleaned up before our arrival.
Dead plants on the terrace and a note asking guests to water them, but without any decent way to do it. All the dry leafs and broken peace’s of pots on the floor.
Shower handle kept falling off.
We were left with one soap and one tiny shower gel per person for 3 days.
Cleanliness is definitely a major issue at this place and the furniture is old and falling apart.
- Marsha (4/5): Very disappointing - Air conditioning, shower and washing machine worked well. Key holder was friendly and provided a useful map with directions on how to get around. Beautiful fresh flowers in the bedroom. The reason they don't provide a photo of the exterior of the property is that the building is covered in graffiti with zero kerb appeal.
The mold smell from the basement and noise from outside was enough to send my son packing as he was sleeping on the sofa bed in the front room. He found a delightful Airbnb that was light and airy at a great price!
The placement of framed pictures on the wall was done in such a haphazard way--some of them at waist level in the kitchen which proved impractical. Some pictures were covered in mold which further indicated the owner's take it or leave it attitude.
The flat has very harsh lighting--there weren't any working lights on either side of the bed. It was very difficult to read anything unless you placed yourself directly under a light. One of the kitchen lights didn't work.
There was no duvet cover on the duvet which made me wonder how hygienic it was. If there was a duvet cover, did they really expect guests to put it on themselves? Like in a hostel?
Nearly every guest house, hotel or Airbnb leaves guests with a welcome basket of some sort--coffee, tea and biscuits. But the only thing we found was some very old instant coffee left behind by a previous guest. Not even a cold bottle of water in the fridge.
It also would have been nice if there had been a notebook handy with all the information needed for using the facilities (cooker, washing machine, how to get rid of rubbish, etc)
As my son left the property, we would expect some compensation. We also think they need to consider reducing the rate they are asking guests to pay.
- Anonymous (8/5): great location and spacious room. - location is great, and it was nice to have the extra space this room provided for our family. the ac/fan unit is only in the bedroom, and the kitchen/living room area would never get cool, which made it hard for our kids to sleep comfortably. a ceiling fan or portable fan would have helped greatly.
- Amy (9/5): A very charming and artistic apartment in a location perfect for what we were looking for. - The apartment was charming and full of character and reflected what was shown in the photos. The location, though in a generally very crowded, rowdy and touristy part of Trastevere, was down a quieter street, on a quiet corner, and the apartment itself was peaceful and quiet. The apartment was full of interesting books and artistic works. The terrazza was pleasant and lovely for eating outside and just relaxing -- with an abundance of plants and a nice tile table.
Also, the host representative, Hassan, who was not the owner of the apartment, was always communicative, responsive and helpful.
Delightful bonus -- there were various cats around the street (encouraged by local cat-lovers), who arranged themselves artfully on the various motorcycles parked opposite the building where the apartment is. The shower was not in very good working order (hot water spotty and drainage not good) and within a couple of days of arrival the hot water was not working. However, Hassan responded promptly and helpfully to our complaints and after attempting to fix the problem himself, and partially improving the situation, he got other people to come and repair it completely, after which it worked perfectly well for the rest of our stay, with hot water and good drainage.
Also, it would have been helpful if the host or owner or whoever had left detailed instructions about garbage disposal and recycling, which is often a bit complicated in Italy, and especially in Rome. Also, instructions or a diagram about all light switches, hot water switches, gas shut-off, etc. Also, where all of the plants were that the owner requested that we water. Hassan explained some of this, and responded to any questions, but it would be helpful to have a written information sheet to refer to -- also so as not to have the back and forth with the host -- for everyone's sake.
Also, we were staying for three weeks, and a bit more provision for household supplies and laundry might have been arranged. We took care of getting towels laundered ourselves, but I don't know if that's customary or optimal. No cleaning or re-supply of household items occurred during our stay. That would be normal in a stay of a few days, but it would be nice if there were an arrangement appropriate for a longer stay.
These comments are meant in a constructive spirit -- overall, everything worked out and we had a wonderful time in the apartment.
- Janusz (10/5): charming apartment in the heart of Trastevere - location is very special. in Trastevere quiet side street very close to everything.
- Hanja (9/5): I would definitely recommend it. - The property is at the excellent location, really in the heart of Trastevere. Marco is really a great host who dedicated to us as much as possible. The bed is comfortable, we slept very well and the apartment is very well equipped. I need to emphasize this because the description of the facilities on booking is very weak, but in fact it has everything. I can't say I didn't like, but some of the flaws are that there is no wi-fi on the terrace, although in the house the wi-fi is very strong. The boiler is weird, sometimes it is very hard to adjust the temperature of the water. The living room has the mouldy smell, probably caused by high humidity in the house.
- Rosanna (10/5): cool apartment in a cool area of Rome - perfectly located in one of the best eating areas in Rome. Interior was cosy and homely.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Excellent location with a smooth check in/out process, and responsive host. Very pretty patio, oddly decorated with - Excellent location, accommodating host Dark, bare minimum amenities
- Alison (10/5): A fabulous property full of character - Location was perfect for exploring the city
