Guest Reviews
- Boyleo (6/5): - Location and size. Most things provided. Bathroom was terrible. The shower is just not usable.
- Sonya (10/5): Charming aparment in the heart of the city - Luca was great! We had a late flight and he came to open the aparment at 2 am in the morning! He was very responsive during our communication. The location of the flat is really great and convenient, right next to the Navona square. The apartment is amazing - pretty spacious compared to other similar accomodations in Rome. I definitely recommend this place and I would book it when visiting again! The shower area in the bathroom is in a bathtub and it's pretty tiny, definitely not suitable for big and tall people. For tiny and short people it won't be an issue.
- Elena (9/5): - The room was very clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, and in a fantastic central spot close to significant sights. The owner was genuinely kind and willing to help. I would absolutely come back. There was nothing I disliked.
- Nataša (10/5): Hidden gem in tourist areas! - Location is perfect! The only downside is bathroom, it’s almost impossible to take shower if you’re a tall person.
- Henriette Crone (9/5): - Great location, local atmosphere and Luca was a great host and helped in all matters needed.
- Mónika (8/5): - Kiváló az elhelyezkedés, gyalog elérhetőek a látványosságok. A lakás autentikusa berendezett, ízléses. A kádba nagyon behéz ki- és beszállni.
- Gary (10/5): A great characterful apartment for seeing Rome - Behind Navona is a great base for exploring Rome. The apartment is quiet, comfortable and warm. The antique furniture and decoration give the place loads of character.
The location could not be better. Via del Governo Vecchio is a cool place with lots of restaurants, shops, Gelato and bars. Mimi Coco has great food and the Abbey Pub is good for afternoon drinks :) or take a 2 minute walk to the Piazza with loads more food/drink options and amazing views.
Luca is the nicest guy and couldn't do enough to help. Even extending our stay so that we could leave for the airport a little later.
We would definitely stay here again if visiting Rome. Grazie Mille Luca !! We liked everything.
There are a few steps to door if you have poor mobility. But it was fine for us and the courtyard outside meant we were isolated from the street noise.
- Faundez Orrego (10/5): -
- ALEXIA (8/5): -
- Nigel (10/5): Lovely central apartment, within walking distance of most major attractions. - Charming, very old and full of history. The location was excellent and Luca was very friendly and helpful. It was all good.
- Lewis (8/5): -
- Tin (8/5): Good value for money - it's right behind Piazza Navona and around 10 minutes away from Pantheon. this area is lively during the day until midnight. lot of restaurants and dessert stores nearby. AC is available here. Luca, the host, is very friendly and quick to respond. unique and traditional living style building and apartment. you will have to climb stairs outside and inside of the apartment. no washer so you will have to go to laundromat nearby.
the bathroom and shower are not for everyone. if you're above 1.8m tall, you won't have a great time here since the ceiling is low.
- Jorge (10/5): Excelente ubicación - Su ubicación es inmejorable. El anfitrión Luca se portó genial con nosotros facilitándonos adelantar el check-in y atrasando el check-out. Un gran detalle por su parte. Irme.
- Rebekah (8/5): Our family really enjoyed our stay here. - The location was fantastic!
- David (9/5): Great place for a great visit to Rome! - Great location and character property. Loved having fa drink literally outside the front door and being able to walk to much of Rome’s tourist locations. Luca the owner was lovely and took care of us well even offering g umbrellas two days after our arrival when rain was predicted. The bathtub, which h was a bitIt hard to get into with a bad knee, but is also part of the character of a property that’s charm comes from making an old property lovely for a modern stay.
- Caroline (10/5): Amazing. We would stay here again! - Perfect location close to piazza navona. Our kids slept in the loft and we could hear them easily. Street noise wasn’t bad especially in the middle of the night. Luca was a great host! I’m 5’2” and could stand in the shower but the shower head doesn’t spray that high, so like everyone else mentioned, you sit in the bath and use the sprayer. No big deal though. Also, we couldn’t figure out how to use the stove/oven to heat some leftovers.
- Tina (8/5): Great location and charm, but note the small shower and many stairs. - We had a great stay at this apartment, which is perfectly located just a short walk from Piazza Navona. The area is full of life, with plenty of charming restaurants and lively little streets to explore. It’s also very easy to reach major tourist attractions on foot. The building itself is quite unique, full of character, and the apartment is well-equipped with everything you might need. Highly recommended for anyone looking to stay in the heart of Rome! The only downside was the shower, which was very small and not the most comfortable. Also, the house has many stairs, so it might not be suitable for people with limited mobility. That said, our child actually enjoyed these quirky features—it added to the adventure!
- Cali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saritha (6/5): Pleasant -
- Patrick (8/5): Very good - the apartment is located in the center of Rome, only a 30min walk to all the major tourist attractions
right in front of the entrance is a pretty nice street with many restaurants, bars and tiny shops.
you don't need public transport or a taxi because everything is within walkable distance the rooms could be a bit higher, especially the bathroom
there was some mold in the bath tube which is probably due to the lack of proper air circulation
- Ashkan (7/5): very good stay, with strange bathroom and rest room! - the vibe of the house is fantastic, it is in great location, between 10 to 15 minutes to every main Rome historical site. Luca, the host is a fantastic person . always available and really helpful with every thing. the place is clean and really beautiful and most the things in the house are comfortable except the rest room and the bath. Bathroom, bath room and bath room. the restroom is usable but the bath is practically not usable specially for less younger people or even normal sized people.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- Ricky (10/5): Best stay for a visit to Roma - Property is located in the heart of Rome. Piazza Novona is located close to all of the main attractions and we recommend staying at Behind Navona.
Host is very welcoming and helpful. The bath might be difficult to use for people with low mobility
- Peter (9/5): Location was great, apartment made you feel like you were in roman times with modern amenities! - Location and charm/character. Bathroom does not have a standing shower but does have extendable arm shower head. Could use more ventilation/fan in bathroom. Consider taking space from counter to add small standing shower to improve experience. Replace malfunctioning coffee maker or remove as it just takes up limited counter space.
- Arden (9/5): Perfect location, attentive host, comfortable accommodation and easy access to sites. - The location was fantastic close to restaurants, sites and transportation.
- Sharon (9/5): We would love to return someday. Most Amazing people, food and the city is breatktaking - Pros - Luca was amazing, from once we landed at the airport, kept in communication with us, met us at the front door within 5 mins of arriving.
Location - Incredible, we walked out the front door to an idyllic sense of amazing restaurants and shops.
Close to all major sights - amazing.
Beds were so comfortable, AC in bedrooms was amazing.
Very quiet. Cons: Bathroom was tiny, my husband is 6ft 2, the bathtub was tiny also, no stand-up shower.
No AC (Just a fan in living room), so July and August is toasty.
However, the cons, would not stop me from rebooking. If we ever go back this is where I would love to stay.
- Yuliya (10/5): Lovely - This place has a soul and beauty and I’m very happy to have the chance to stay there. Luca is very friendly and helpful 🌸
- Rodrigo (10/5): Great stay close to Piazza Navona - Location Shower
- Just (10/5): Loved it! - eclectic, perfect location, space for the four of us. This was such a memorable and authentic pretty historic apartment that had so many cool features. We loved it!
you do have to know the uniqueness of the apartment ahead of time and want that so you aren’t surprised. There are a decent number of steps, a crazy tiny shower that works well, but you have to know that you’re probably going to Neil down to shower! We specifically chose this place for all of its unique features and loved it, but if you were expecting a more traditional “hotel room “this isn’t the place for you. The AC worked perfect for a few days when Rome was over 100°, which was also a bonus. The location was amazing with lots of restaurants. There was no noise inside of the apartment is actually set back from where you first enter Luca was easy to get in touch with and super responsive as we were trying to figure out how to get to the apartment. This was definitely a great find.
- Allan (8/5): Great Place in Navona - Exceptional location, spacious, well furnished, cozy, secure and comfortable, this gem is centrally located from all the Navona area points of interest. Airconditioned, smartcast capable TV with cable are welcomed added amenities. Place is so secure once inside, one can drop a gate to prevent entry to even one who has a key to the front door.
Host Luca was incredibly warm and helpful. He helped arrange needed transportation(van service) between Rome and the airport for our 6am flight. Only one thing kept this place from getting 5 stars which was the bath tub/shower which has a low ceiling height and a swing glass door that made it very difficult to enter and exit especially for a disabled person as myself.
- Jonathan (9/5): Excellent. Luca is an incredible host. - Location, location, location. Cannot beat it. The street directly outside is quintessential Rome. Shower is a bit rough but nothing to be done! Minor quibble!
- Damir (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at Luca's place. He's a great host, he was very helpful - The place has a lot of character - we loved it! It's in a central location but still rather quiet inside the house. Very high ceilings. We were there in May-June and it was nice and cool inside (we didn't have to use AC)! The ceiling over the bathtub is a bit low.
- Rojacast (8/5): A fine place in the heart of the city run by a wonderful host. - The location was superb with ready access to the sites around Piazza Navona, but also to the main road and Bus 64, which travels through the heart of the historic area. The host is a great guy. The apartment had a funky Old World charm. The bath tub/shower was rather cramped. The stairs a bit creaky, so waking others in the middle of the night a concern. The kitchen area was functional for a couple but possibly taxing for two couples.
- Johanne (9/5): An apartment in the heart of Rome❤️ - The host Luca was very polite.
He helped us in every possible way.
- Dragos (9/5): Great location for city breeak - Great location, in the middle of everything, walking distance to main atractions.
No need for breakfast as you have a lot of options nearby.
Great host, Luca, always helpful. It could be a little bit clean
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Katrine (10/5): I loved everything about this place !!!! The location, the atmosphere and not least the fantastic host Luca who was so - I loved everything !!! There was nothing that I did not like !!!
- Annegret (10/5): Perfect location, perfect stay. -
- Haris (10/5): Deeamy - Location, accommodation, energy...everything
- Gulsah (8/5): Very good - Hospitality
- Justyna (10/5): Fantastic - The location, proximity to food & attractions, great atmosphere of an old Roman flat, safety in the flat (extra gate etc), super approachable host (helped us with food & drink tips, even when asked by What's up and places turned out to be great with delicious food). Really hard to think of anything..maybe another pair of keys would be useful, especially when we stayed as a group of 4
- Ben (6/5): Pleasant - Very quaint, well located in a bustling area, near amenities, taxi, bus stand. Luca is an amazing host, met us in person and made sure we had everything we needed. The shower/bath is very small; we are tall and had to crouch down with a hand shower. Allowed for many laughs though.
- Ann (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (9/5): Comfortable and fun place in an amazing location - two thumbs up. - I would highly recommend this place. The location was absolutely perfect, the building was quirky and fun, and Luca was very helpful and responsive, and even met us at the door in our taxi. Our family loved it, and we'd definitely stay there again. The temperature in the rooms was a little hard to regulate - it was cold in the loft with the A/C on and a little warm in the lower beds. I'm not sure there's much to be done about that (except maybe more blankets on the upstairs bed), but just noting it. It is also not really possible to fully stand up in the shower if you're over about 5 and a half feet tall (but the kids loved that).
- Gwangjin (1/5): The stairs here are hell - No The stairs here are hell.
This place has a total of 4 floors in a very narrow land. Depending on the view, it can be seen as three layers.
Climbing the stairs from the living room leads to the bathroom.
Climbing the stairs from the bathroom leads to a room with a large bed.
Climb the stairs again and you will find another bed.
However, there is a very loud creaking sound from the stairs.
If someone wants to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he must pass the stairs.
Then everyone wakes up with a creaking sound.
The sound is terrifying like that of a ghost house.
Be careful.
You need to open the door with 3 keys to enter the house.
I thought it would be safe.
But that means isolation.
If there is a problem in this house, there is no communication with the outside world.
You can't get help from anyone.
Managers do not answer phone calls.
Managers keep phones off for long periods of time.
You have to be perfectly fluent in Italian as well as English to be safe.
You have to solve all problems yourself.
This is a very old building.
The manager introduced that this building is very old.
He introduced that the door of the house is several hundred years old.
It is a house with many stairs, but the stairs are also very old.
So the sound is very loud.
This is a house connected by a staircase.
You have to use the stairs to go to another space.
When someone moves, you have to hear that loud noise all together. even in the middle of the night.
There is no sunlight here.
Even simple underwear laundry won't dry.
The courtyard is damp.
So many kinds of insects live there.
The bugs come into the house from time to time.
Wifi works fine on the first floor.
Wifi signal is weak from upstairs.
The wifi signal in the room with the bed is very weak.
So I couldn't use my cell phone.
- Stacey (9/5): Lovely - Excellent location, beautiful and original layout. Owner was very helpful and apartment was perfectly equipped. On a terrific street with wonderful restaurants
- Candice (9/5): Lovely quiet apartment in a fantastic location. - Luca was a lovely and attentive host who met us promptly when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour of the property. We arrived early and Luca kindly let us check in before the set time. The apartment was in an excellent location in Rome, near the Pantheon. It was adorable. The best things about the apartment were how quiet it was (no noise!), how comfortable the beds were, and how well the air conditioning worked (we were there during a heat wave). It felt so secluded and peaceful, but right in the heart of Rome. Thank you Luca! As others have said, the shower in the bathroom is more of a bathtub with a handheld spray. We knew this was the case, so we were fine with it 😊 The ceilings are low (our son is over 6 feet tall) so we had to watch we didn’t bump our heads in some places, but this was part of the charm of an older apartment.
- Philip (8/5): Great location, walking distance to all the main sites, great family restaurants and the best tiramisu on your doorstep. -
- Anatolii (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay at these apartments was great! Excellent location, an antique and beautiful house. Thank you so much, Luca, for the help, due to strikes at the airport our flight was delayed and we had to reschedule our check-in time several times, but Luca kept in touch with us and that really helped us
- Diane (9/5): Wonderful stay in a perfect location! - Perfect location, very charming apartment, and Luca was a wonderful, accommodating host. Located off a charming cobblestone lane teeming with restaurants, just steps away from Piazza Navona, but within a private, secluded courtyard.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional - As other reviews say, this is an excellent location and Luca is a wonderful host...kind, gracious, and helpful.
We stayed with our two kids and my parents, and each pair (parents, kids, grandparents) had their own bed. It was early July, and the AC on the top loft helped cool the whole apartment, especially with shutters and windows closed all day. Luca helped us book a van to the airport, and it was much more affordable than prices on Uber or booking. We were one block from Piazza Navona, and could walk to all the sights. The layout is a bit funky, with a very low ceiling bathroom, but the posting is upfront about what you're getting into!
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb -
- May (7/5): Cozy apartment in the heart of Rome - The property was cozy and clean. It was located in a fabulous area with lots of activity which made us feel immersed in the city. We were able to walk to most of the sites that we wanted to see in Rome and there were several bus stops nearby as well. The host was extremely helpful and allowed us to stay a few hours after check out time. We knew that the apartment was very small in terms of square footage based upon the original write-up however it was vertically challenging for those in our family who are larger people and are over 6 feet tall. The tub/shower was especially hard to use due to the short tub and limited height of the ceiling in that room.
- Frenk (10/5): Super cozy apartment with great host! -
- Mehetabel (9/5): Behind Nova was amazing! The house is located in a perfect location within walking distance r - The home is in a perfect location. Luca our host was amazing! He helped me make dinner reservations and he was very responsive to all my questions and needs. Highly recommend this home. The only slight negative would be the shower. There is no room to stand up so you have to sit in the tub and bathe. This is a home in a historic location with antique features in the home so its understandable that it can't be upgraded. The location and the rest of the home makes up for this slight negative.
- Andrew (7/5): The location and support from Luca make it all great. - Excellent location and Luca was amazing. Responsive, supportive, and always available. Was very easy to deal with and helped in any way he could. The shower is an adventure, works fine with good pressure, but if your a big person you need to be a gymnast to make it all work out.
- Angela (10/5): We would definitely stay here again! - We traveled as a family and loved the location of this apartment. it has so much old world charm and an interesting layout, but very memorable! Also very comfortable beds and quiet for a good night sleep. The shower was cramped and the stairs creaked but neither of those things bothered us.
- Andres (10/5): Amazing stay at Behind Navona - We recently stayed at a holiday apartment near Piazza Navona in Rome and had a fantastic experience. The location was absolutely perfect, with numerous restaurants, supermarkets, and all of Rome's ancient wonders within easy reach and Luca was fantastic in meeting us at checkin and making sure that throughout the stay we were ok.
The apartment itself was delightful. It was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The amenities were great, and I appreciated having a fully equipped kitchen, allowing me to prepare meals whenever I wanted.
One of the highlights was the proximity to Piazza Navona. This picturesque square was just a short walk away, and it offered a vibrant atmosphere, lined with charming cafes and street performers. It was a great place to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and people-watch.
Furthermore, being close to various restaurants was a treat. I had the opportunity to sample a wide range of delicious Italian cuisine, from traditional trattorias to trendy eateries. The convenience of having supermarkets nearby made it easy to stock up on supplies and indulge in fresh local produce.
As for exploring Rome's ancient wonders, the location couldn't have been better. I was within walking distance of iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon. It was awe-inspiring to witness the rich history and architectural marvels that Rome has to offer, all just a stone's throw away from the apartment.
Overall, I highly recommend this holiday apartment near Piazza Navona. Its convenient location, close proximity to restaurants, supermarkets, and Rome's ancient wonders, made my stay truly memorable. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a food lover, or simply looking to immerse yourself in the charm of Rome, this apartment is an excellent choice, and thanks for all your help Luca You had to sit In the bath to shower but that didn’t bother us that much, it’s all part of the experience.
- Catherine (9/5): Superb - Luca was the perfect host. Was there to greet us and gave us great recommendations 👌. It was a fabulous area for exploring and close to many attractions. The shower was a little "tight" especially if you are tall, but I am 5'6 and was just able to fit in. Everything else was so wonderful. A beautiful rustic, Roman apartment. 😍
- Carolyn (8/5): great location, host was amazing and very accommodating - location was excellent shower was very small
- Lisa (9/5): Fantastico - Fantastic location, so close to restaurants and Piazza Navona. Gorgeous apartment, lots of rustic touches. Spacious and very clean. Full bathroom and amenities. Shower a little low. Overall, we were very happy to stay here and would stay again. Softer pillows
- Helen (8/5): I loved the street we were on. - The location was right in the center of everything we wanted to see. my kids loved the narrow stairs. The shower was a little uncomfortable but nothing we couldn’t deal with.
- Tomasz (9/5): A quiet, magical place in the centre of busy Old Rome - of all my stays in Rome, this was the best! - A fantastic location in a historic building in the centre of "Old Rome". Cosy and quiet inside, then you walk through the courtyard, open the gate - and you're in the middle of busy street, next to Piazza Navona. Magic! Our host was extremely helpful, the weather was nice, and Rome - as always - breathtaking... The water pressure in the bathroom was one area where some improvements could be made - although I imagine this could be a general problem with old plumbing in the neigbourhood...
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic, a great place to stay - The property is very authentically Italian and in keeping with the local area. Everything you need for a short or week long break is there. The location of the property is excellent, bars and restaurants are on your door step and most of the major sites in Rome are walking distance.
Luca is a fantastic host and he is exceptionally helpful. the bathroom could be better laid out as using the bath/shower is a challenge but this should not put people off as the location of the property is excellent
- Honorata (10/5): Exceptional - Firstly, here you can feel what the real city of Rome is like and its atmosphere, you get an authentic experience of living the roman life. It is very close to all of the landmarks and other brilliant restaurants. Personally, we walked everywhere without the need to get taxis or buses etc. Luca is very friendly and suggested us some lovely places to visit while we were staying here.
- Monica (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (9/5): Great location, great host. - Luca was amazing, waited at the property to greet us after our flight was delayed and nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect, right next to Piazza Navona, central to all the sights and on a lively street. The apartment was set back, with a large door and gate, so felt really secure and it was so peaceful! Would definitely recommend. As the other reviews have said, the shower was tiny - don’t expect to stand up! The ceiling on mezzanine level bedroom is also really low. We were expecting this due to the other reviews, but this apartment is all about location.
- Lindsay (9/5): Don't miss out on the chance to stay in the heart of Rome - you won't regret it! - Location, location, location! This property is in the heart of Rome right next to Piazza Navonna. It's surrounded by great restaurants and walking distance from everything. A quaint, historic building, you feel truly immersed in the spirit and history of Rome. Comfy beds, clean linens and all the kitchen basics are provided for you. Excellent and VERY responsive host. The property could benefit from a small fan in the living room, which the host responded positively to. Figuring out how to make due with the shower/tub is tricky, but once you get the hang of it, you easily adjust.
- Adele (10/5): Exceptional - location was perfect and felt safe just the shower height but I was prepared as the reviews mentioned it
