Guest Reviews
- Oscar (10/5): Made our trip to Tokyo special - great amount of space, loved the balcony and lots of amenities. Beds were also comfortable
- Frederik (8/5): -
- McGaw (10/5): Tokyo Terrace House - We loved the location and cleanliness of the lodging! It was so awesome waking up, opening the curtains, and seeing the skyline of Tokyo right from our balcony. Everything was neatly organized and easy to understand. We had a lot of fun hanging out in the main room when we had the "mega bed" (the futons in the main room were super comfortable). The layout of the shower room opening right into the kitchen area wasn't that bad since there was a portable folding privacy wall. We'd just set it up so we could make a mini changing area when needed. It worked really well! The photos in the booking were a little outdated because the toilet was actually an updated toilet with a bidet! That was a really nice surprise!
It rained during our first day and the wind had blown around some furniture so the terrace flooded since the drain got covered, but we messaged Naomi and she fixed the flooding issue and left us some nice snacks which we ate later during our trip.
Overall, everything was super smooth and I'd definitely come back here again! The only thing that was difficult was getting our luggage up the narrow staircase, but that's no fault of anyone's. It's just the building structure.

- Aaron (5/5): Would not stay here again unless I was alone - Cool little rooftop spot with cute lights. The living room was spacious. Nothing about it was comfortable. No pillows on the couch.
Not good for groups, strange layout, the shower opens directly into the kitchen, there’s no bathroom sink or mirror for getting ready, the stairs up to the unit felt treacherous and were also flooded with water in spots. We had very heavy luggage and this felt like a hazard.
The top balcony had limited seating and uneven standing space (trip hazard if you were drinking etc)
Had two beds crammed into a small bedroom with nothing else in it.
The location was a very long walk (~20 min) from shinjuku station, with not much of an interesting neighborhood around it.

- Indihana (10/5): - Beautiful view
- George (10/5): very lovely home to rent, the host was wonderful. and happy to stay there while in Tokyo. - loved the location very nice walk into the city. near to the train station. high up floor with rooftop which was lovely to have a brew in a morning or last thing at night. watching the world go by. great washer dryer. manual left by the owner on how to use everything, in very good english. all worked very well. everything there that you would need for a stay. we had to be out by 10am and had knowwhere to leave the luggage, if you had a late flight we had to book a hotel near the airport for a day/night otherwise it as use the storage at the train station. Our elderly mum and dad came they had to book into a hotel they could not manage the stairs, but that was explained when we booked it, so no fault of the apartment.

- Bec (10/5): Spacious for the area and clean - Lovely clean apartment not too far from Shinjuku Station. Perfect for a family
- Jerica (8/5): A lovely place to stay at the end of our trip. - The terrace was nice to sit on at night. The beds, including the pull out couch beds, were very comfortable. The location was convenient. It was also nice having a tv. We had a mixed gender group of 5 people, we had no where to really put clothing in the bathing room to keep them dry or to change if the bathroom was wet if you were one of the people on the couch bed.
- Marco (8/5): -
- Simonas (10/5): - Everything was perfect :)
- Pauline (8/5): Convenient location one stop from Shinjuku Station. Reasonable price and great host. - Grat instructions on how to access property Stairs are steep but doable- just take your time
- Amelia (10/5): Tokyo stay - The apartment was clean and neat, also very well equipped (there's even WII with games to choose!!). There are instructions for everything like AC remotes and other stuff. Everything including towels and pots is provided. There is 7eleven nearby and it's pretty close to metro station. The view at night from the terrace is very nice, especially with the little lights on!! The owner was very kind and quick to respond 😊
- Jessica (8/5): Awesome rooftop, close to everything - We loved that it had everything we needed. There are very little curtains in the main bedroom so early in the morning you get hit with the morning sun so that makes it hard to sleep. There are 6 flights of stairs to go up. They are very narrow, it was tough bringing our stroller up and down several times a day.
- Timothee (10/5): Très bel appartement bien placé et fonctionnel ! On recommande ! - Tout
- Eliane (10/5): Quelques jours dans le quartier de Shinjuku, à deux pas du métro et de l’Opéra. Tout le confort nécessaire était disponi - Le confort
- Andrzej (9/5): - Schöne Tarase 👍
- Sandra (9/5): Good location for a short stay. Convenient - I liked that we had our own place to rest. The area was conveniently close to shops such as restaurants and 7-11 store. The owner is so organized and gave us very detailed guide on how to get to the location, the amenities etc. So helpful. The beds were super comfortable after a long flight. The only complaint (not really, just more of an inconvenience after a long, hot day) is that the air conditioning was not on when we got to location and it was 95 degrees Fahrenheit that day. The apartment was a hot box.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - The rooftop terrace sold it to us and didn't disappoint. Really easy to get to anywhere we needed. Ok, the stairs were tough (but we brought our teenage son to lift our cases)...
- Michael (10/5): Comfortable, convenient and well-located - This property is great for a small group of travellers visiting Tokyo, it is located a 5 minute walk from Hatsudai station, which is just one stop away from Shinjuku (also walkable ~20mins), close enough to have things to do, but far enough that it’s a quiet environment at night.
The property itself fit our needs perfectly, three of us stayed, with two of my friends in their own double beds, and I took the sofa bed - which would have been able to comfortably fit three people.
Any amenities we required were present, with cooking and cleaning facilities as well as a washer dryer that can be left to work while you go sightseeing! We also enjoyed the balcony space for quiet relaxation in the evening.
Having this property made our Tokyo trip far more convenient than a hotel room would have, and I would recommend it to others! The only potential downside I could imagine for others would be that the property is up three flights of stairs, however Tokyo is a city full of stairs, so I imagine most travellers would be fine with this, as we were.
- Mary (7/5): Good location but small space for 4 people - Location was great. Host was great at communicating and helped me to find the location of the apartment. Shower was very hot. Nice to have an outside space Limited cutlery, only 1 knife. Bathroom and toilet were very small. Difficult to use hand sink in toilet area.
- Eleonora (9/5): Roof top 🔝 - A Beautiful place near the Shinjuku train station, a very cute apartment for a group and with all service you need! But the first thing wonderful is the view on the top in the terrace!! I really recommend this place 🩷
- Iain (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place in a great location. Loved the balcony. Great stay and had an excellent time. Tight fit for more than 3 people.
- Chang (9/5): Convenient and good value - Relatively convenient location, 15-20 min walk to Shinjuku JR or 10 min to the nearest subway. Place was clean and comfortable. Owner was pleasant and readily contactable. The house manual provided is also helpful and self-explanatory. House was a little confusing to locate at first. Also the need to take the stairs to the 4th floor may be troublesome if you have big luggages.
- Ch (9/5): Superb -
- Fernando (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zurina (9/5): Overall was good, cozy and comfy - Nearby to public transport, 24hrs convenient store and halal food restaurant No dressing mirror only one big mirror in the toilet
- Livingston (9/5): Superb -
- Graeme (8/5): overall, good - Great location, clean property, got all the appliances we needed the stairs...
- Anastasia (8/5): Very good -
- John (4/5): Disappointing -
- Vasilescu (6/5): Pleasant -
- Theresa (9/5): We enjoyed our stay - The beds and pillows were very comfortable The stairs going up the apartment
- Geoff (7/5): We stayed for 1 night and it was ok - Once inside the property it was well appointed, we were 3 and there was enough room it’s in a good location It’s on the 4th floor without a lift so if you have large bags it’s not so convenient
- Raphael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barnaby (8/5): Very good - This was a small but perfectly suitable and comfortable base for us to explore Tokyo. We are a family of 5 with 3 adult kids so I was a bit of a squish but that was ok. I never met the host but they are incredibly organised, it was lovely to have no concerns about access and information as they were so thorough and attentive, thank you.
- Quinn (8/5): Good, small place - Easy check in process and attentive hosts. Good location and many convenient stores and grocery stores very near by. The place was much smaller than expected and was lacking some kitchen items typically found with most guest places. The rooftop terrace was great but the AC units (or something) would blow hot air at the seating area- which could be great at some times of the year, but not in the summer.
- Sian (6/5): Pleasant -
- Fetzer (7/5): Good - Convenient and good price for the area Tight fit for larger groups. Definitely an efficiency apartment.
- Samantha (9/5): Great functional space - Wonderful location with great views at night. Well equipped and everything we needed was there. For six people it was quite cozy, but we were coming and going so it wasn't too bad.
- Karl (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cannyta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (3/5): Unclean, far away and misleading. - The property was definitely not what was shown in the pictures or description. Firstly, it was quite hard to find and in a fairly remote part of town, not what was described. We then had to figure out exactly which building it was as there were no photos given to locate it. Once we got inside, it was clear that the property was not equipped to deal with 5 people staying there which is what we had booked for. At best, this property would be fine for a couple, but it was also not very clean, hard to get to, and had very limited amenities, particularly the bathroom which provided no privacy at all. I do not recommend staying at this property but to their credit, the owners were willing to provide a refund after some back and forward between us.
- Allison (8/5): Warm, compact and great location - Warm, comfy beds, good kitchen facilities, great location 4th floor, lots of stairs but good balcony for a sunny day so worth it
- George (9/5): This is a great unit for people looking to visit Tokyo. - Location was excellent. Very close to the metro line, The unit was tidy and well fitted out. The instruction manual provided was outstanding and extremely helpful. Shower was nice and warm. Great value for money. The unit is a bit smaller than expected. The balcony really is big and would be outstanding in the summer, unfortunately we couldn't use it in the winter.
- Kym (9/5): Loved every part - Dining, Crowds, Dress Styles, Temples, Palace, Ninja/Samurai - The location was excellent - so convenient & walking distances to train stations and in Shinjuku, in our opinion the most exciting part of Tokyo to stay, especially at night with the bright lights, many dining options & people watching. Also the apartment was a short walk from a 7-11 Store that opened long hours. In addition outside the 7-11 store was a good place to hail a taxi.
The apartment was easily accessed, clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and hosts left a detailed manual with great instructions.
The hosts communicated very well with us too. It was difficult to cart luggage up & down 4 flights of stairs but we did increase our fitness.
The apartment decor was fine but could have been more colourful eg rug, cushions & quilt covers.
It would be very handy if we had access to a map in English showing how to walk to the various train stations as for some reason our Google Maps didn't work properly.
- Hetherington (9/5): Comfortable and stress free - Clean and spacious apartment close to local amenities There could have been some more larger towels and an extra shelf in the wash room for toiletries/clothing
- Cesar (10/5): Exceptional - The location was ideal.
- Jenee (10/5): I enjoyed my stay here. My family enjoyed coming home and cooking wagyu for dinner. 7 eleven is near by and close to fam - It’s convenient to the train station, a few blocks away from Metropolitan Building. Does not apply
- Kris (9/5): Great deal for size and location - Great location. Fits four comfortably. The extras were nice: Wii, hot water kettle, washing machine, etc. The guide book that Naomi sends is incredibly helpful. We didn’t mind the narrow 4 flights up to the door but be honest with yourself if that’s for you. Beds were a little stiff for our liking.
- Liam (5/5): Passable - A crash pad for singles not suitable for family accomodation
- Darcy (6/5): Great for the price, but a little rattle-y - The host was very kind and friendly! The unit itself is very charming, and if you don't mind the bed situation, or the hairdryer in the living room, the layout is nice. Great view from the balcony. A convenient bus was just a minutes walk away. Facilities were very clean, so nice to have a washing machine. It was quite windy, and all the fixtures on the balcony made very loud creaking noises at night, we had to go out and secure some of the privacy boards with privided zip ties. The beds were so-so. The hot water machine (I think was) was loud for a few minutes here and there. The nespresso machine leaked, but thankfully, we noticed, but we couldn't use it afterward. The area was a bit sketchy, too, unfortunately. For the price, it's a good stay, but not without a few abnormalities.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- João (7/5): Good property for 4 people - Localization
Cleanliness
Good facilities, namely heating No elevator
Too tight for 6 people
No curtains in the bedroom
- Braydon (10/5): FANTASTIC! - a real Japan experience. brilliant n/a
- Brian (8/5): it was ok overall. we were mainly out and about so having a place to stay near a convenient location is good. The owners - We liked the location as it was a convenient location in Shinjuku If you are booking this property for a group of people who are carrying heavy luggages, this is probably the main concern. the property is located at top floor of a 4-story property. So think about that.
