• Tammy Patricia (8/5): - Our stay was very private and peaceful. At first, I felt a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews, and I wasn’t sure if this was the right place to stay. However, my boyfriend and I stayed here for 8 nights, and it turned out to be a very good experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and even nicer in person than in the photos. It’s perfect for people who truly value privacy — there were no staff constantly disturbing us, and the owner regularly checked in by message to ask if we needed anything. Because of the private setup, we felt very comfortable taking care of ourselves and coming and going freely. The room had everything we needed: coffee, utensils, chopsticks, a clean refrigerator, a clean microwave, and all facilities worked perfectly. The bathroom was also very clean and well maintained. Overall, it felt warm and cozy, almost like staying at a family home. We really enjoyed our stay.

• Nick90ube (7/5): Buon compromesso qualità / prezzo / posizione - Appartamento ben tenuto e in linea con le aspettative. Foto su Booking rispecchiano l'appartamento. Posizione abbastanza comoda circa 400 mt dalla fermata metro, con la quale si raggiunge in mezz'ora il "centro città". Esperienza alternativa, iniziata con il distaccamento delle piastrelle della doccia il primo giorno. Per i primi due giorni non abbiamo potuto lavarci ma fortunatamente l'host, Mr. James, sempre presente in caso di necessità e tempestivo nel dare supporto ha risolto il problema e ci ha scontato 2 notti dal prezzo iniziale.
• Shimon (1/5): Dishonest people - Very dishonest people. They tried charging my card a second time a week after they received my payment in full. Then they threatened to cancel my reservation if I didn't provide the security number of my credit card. We are now taking legal action against them.
• Shaneada (1/5): Will not recommend especially for women!!! it is not safe! - Only thing I liked was the location The townhouse listing description is not what you get when you check in. there is no privacy. It is a shared space with the owner downstairs and he made me feel very uncomfortable as he came out in a robe to “workout “ at almost midnight & was shortly after seen in the nude in a open space . I didn’t stay , end up finding something else and asking for a refund after about 15 minutes on the property booking should really check into this very creepy, old man and house. It gave bad vibes. I’m actually in process of reaching out to booking headquarters for the encounter we had.
• Kardos (6/5): Great location, unit A has feels uncomfortable right above the owner. - Great location close to the subway with lots of places to eat, bodegas, etc. closeby. Bed was very comfortable, loveseat reclined, AC was strong, good water pressure in shower, unique and nice decor. James was polite and helpful with requests I.e. to leave coffee cups since only lids were there upon arrival. Towels were tiny and thin. Shower was tiny with visible mold. Most importantly we were sent a message AFTER booking that we would be above the owner and may hear him during business hours. While the bedroom had a door for privacy (lock broken), the hallway for the bathroom and lounge/kitchenette area is right above the open staircase for the owner’s area (just like walking up to the second story of a house) and you can smell their cooking and hear them at all hours of the day and night- listening to music, talking on the phone, belching, urinating with the door open, etc. Wish I would have known that before booking, would have chosen the other room (we booked Deluxe double unit A).
• Silvana Marian (9/5): Lively and comfy stay with great location - We were very happy in our stay. The room and bathroom was spacious, comfortable and well located. We had great communication days prior to our arrival and they were kind enough to let us drop our bags for a few hours before our check-in because we arrived super early. Even though we were mostly moving around in Brooklyn and the lower east side for work we really enjoyed the area and would love to return. I would say that the shower leaks a bit onto the floor outside and it was a bit mushy and messy to maintain without it becoming too wet outside the shower. Also I wouldn't say I disliked it but there's an interesting decor in the room, with the two busts coming out of the wall, but it gives it character.

• Luis (1/5): - Que se podía dormir ahi Que no es un apartamento es una habitación en la casa de otra persona,separado por una cortina con el baño fuera al lado de las escaleras que dan a donde vive otra persona. La mayor parte de los enchufes o alargadores no funcionan. El frío es considerable. La intimidad es escasa (oyes como si fuera en tu propia casa lo que pasa en el piso de abajo porque no hay nada de aislamiento). La luz es muy escasa. El día que llegamos con frío bajo cero no teníamos instrucciones de llegada nadie contestó al telefonillo y tampoco al teléfono. Milagrosamente al rato,cuando ya estábamos buscando alternativas aparecieron milagrosamente los únicos vecinos del edificio. Ellos llamaron insistentemente a la persona que vive ahí y conseguimos que abriera la puerta. La habitación estaba sin limpiar y la cama sucia..nos pidió media hora para arreglarlo. No limpio pero cambio las sábanas. La cortina de separación con su casa estaba caída. Dijo que lo arreglaría,cosa que sucedió el día anterior a volvernos. Nos ofreció una noche gratis cosa que no sé corresponde con la devolución que hizo y aún estamos reclamando la puerta del baño no cierra y el frío es considerable. Me parece increíble que ese sitio se anuncie y la atención al cliente se limitó a pasar los mensajes . No tuvimos el reembolso solicitado y nos quedamos con la terrible experiencia de estar bajo cero sin nadie que diera respuesta y la falta de mediación de los responsables en la situación..para valorar alternativas en futuros viajes

• Marangely (10/5): - If you're looking for a safe place to rest, this is an excellent option. It's just steps from two train stations, and if you know how to use that mode of transport, you're practically in the city. I stayed for four nights, and the owner was very attentive and friendly. 👏🏻 It's not a hotel; it's the entire second floor of the house, with a bedroom, bathroom, and living room. Personally, I would stay there again. Nothing bad to say at all...

Vermieter konnte vom Erdgeschoss über eine Treppe ungehindert in unser Apartment. Eine Frechheit so etwas überhaupt anzubieten. Bei Bedarf können Fotos geschickt werden.

The cleaning fee and taxes came out to be as much as the accommodation cost. How could this happen... I've been in New York for 10 days, but this is my first time experiencing something like this. Everyone, please be careful.
• LAURA (7/5): Eclectic, fun place to stay, could use some upkeep. - James our host was exceptional in his host duties, even carrying our luggage up the stairs as this unit is on the second floor. The decor was both eclectic and colorful and we loved it. Think tiling and stonework everywhere. :-D Great window view in the living room. Two big screen TV's, comfortable recliners and platform bed, overall pleasant stay. The property is beautiful, on a nice street but the surrounding neighborhood is not as well kept and might be a turn off to some, although our interactions with the local vendors was that they were always very nice to us, and, in fact, we never felt uncomfortable at any time. The property owners are doing renovations, so I realize there are ongoing projects, but I was uncomfortable using the shower because it was coming apart at the tiles and looked dirty. The shower door didn't stay closed and the toilet seat was loose, so these things should be taken care of before another client comes in. Also, there is no full kitchen, just a microwave, mini fridge, so plan to get takeout a lot.

There's no separate entrance—it's a room in the house, separated from the common area by a screen! We asked for a refund because we didn't rent it for a day due to deception. They refused and couldn't contact the tenant regarding this issue. They didn't return a single dollar, even though they promised to return it within at least three days! Scammers!
• Dudkievitz (10/5): Stylowe mieszkanie w XIX-wiecznej kamienicy na Harlemie - Blisko do metra i Central Parku, niedaleko sklepy spożywcze i obok dobra kawiarnia. Pierwsze trzy dni - ze względu na awarię w apartamencie - mieszkałem w małym, ale wygodnym studio na parterze. Apartament na 2 piętrze jest przestrzenny, wygodny i stylowo urządzony. Nie jest nowoczesny i wymaga drobnych napraw, ale ma fajny klimat i niczego mi nie brakowało, o co zadbał administrator James. Z tego apartamentu są wewnętrzne schody prowadzące do mieszkania na dole i czasami słychać, co kto tam mówi, ale można się zamknąć w swoim salonie. WiFi, TV, ekspres do kawy, lodówka i inne udogodnienia działały bez zarzutu z bardzo drobnymi wyjątkami. Światło w salonie sypialnianym można było włączać i wyłączać tylko poza pomieszczeniem, bo nie reagowało na pilota. Kilamtyzacja działała dość głośno.

• Santarsiero (7/5): NYC Townhouse Apartment - large room, well-stocked bathroom, quiet neighborhood The room was separate from the bathroom; the door to the room had to be slammed shut to close it; there didn't appear to be any electrical outlets near the bed; the light switch in the room was outside the room itself, and there were no other small lights near the bed; the shower door didn't close, and you had to hold it with your hand to avoid flooding the floor; one of the sinks had a plug that didn't work and was closed, so the water wouldn't flow.

Metrostation op 400mtr... 116th street En een lekker Bagel lokaaltje op 350mtr.. 116th street Het appartement niet helemaal wat we verwacht hadden. De foto's komen aardig overeen.. Maar de eigenaar woont niet echt apart, maar eigenlijk in hetzelfde woongedeelte.. wij boven, en Als je binnendoor de trap afloopt, loop je zijn woongedeelte in. Ook goed hoorbaar en zichtbaar. Privè gevoel is echt minder zo Douchecel lekt ook..dat alles ook te nat werd in de badkamer en daarbuiten ook. Dat het bij de eigenaar beneden zelfs doordruppelde. en Airco begon ook veel lawaai te maken naar 2 dagen. Zodat We toch maar hebben besloten vroegtijdig Te vertrekken.. appartement is gewoon aan een opknapbeurt toe. Te onafgewerkt overal, als je beetje rondkijkt, is jammer want de plek/ligging opzich is mooi. in een Rustige straat.

It stated that the property would be ‘shared’ with the owner, however it would be ‘private’. It was in fact not private and quite open and the facilities were poor and old. We did not stay the night and instead felt we needed to book somewhere else as we did not feel safe here.

• Juan (4/5): Definitely not $345 worth it - Decoration is nice Entrance to the building needs some work, it had a humidity smell which activated my allergies for a little, also the first night was very hard to sleep since they had construction going on. The door was doubled locked the following night so we realized someone was there on the property while we were there staying. “Mr Mike” was nice and helped us get back in, yet we were so confused of what was going on.

Stone's throw from Central Park north. Good hosts who just let me get on with it. Needs better plug sockets, maybe a long extension lead.

It’s a good value base camp to explore Central Park & down town NYC - To be honest funky design , rich African culture with bespoke sculptures and art pieces . There is a twin sink 1 doesn’t work not plumbed in . Shower facilities are functional , great water pressure , but be aware that the finish has a continental feel, but unfinished.
• Mcneal (10/5): I would definitely stay at this property again when I am visiting the New York City area. - I recently traveled to New York City and found this short term stay on booking.com. I found this rental very convenient for my stay. The main thing about it was the transportation convenience . It was only two blocks away from the subways and buses. The area here many restaurants and stores surrounding it. I visited the Apollo theater that was only seven blocks away and took in a Broadway show. I like the privacy aspect of this property because it had a separate guest entrance. It also had a private bedroom and bathroom and a lounge area with a recliner, dinette set, with a microwave and refrigerator for my convenience. Its has a private entrance from the owners suite. The host was very helpful and gracious. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Looks a bit like it’s falling apart. Lack of basic amenities (soap). The decor could be described as extreme(?). Bathroom smelled moldy (there’s no fan and water pools in the shower).

The bathroom was very dirty we didn’t even wanted to take a shower. Also there was a strange smell in the room. My friend and I found another place to stay because we didn’t want to sleep there. • Lesley (1/5): Disgusting & Unsafe. - Nothing This place is terrible: Photos are Dated. Run down. Dirty. No heating. No privacy. No working power points. Excess junk / rubbish in the room. The owner has access to the room & when I complained about no heating he said to leave my bedroom door unlocked & open so the heat from his place downstairs could come up to my room, I did not feel safe here & had to leave. I have sent a complaint to customer service but have had no reply. I am trying to get a refund.

Beautiful brownstone street, convenient to four different subway lines, with plenty of services within a block or two. Michael was an excellent and gracious host, and the space is lovely and unique. The listing on Booking should make it clear that guests need to contact the owner in advance to get the code to the key box a few other helpful details. Fortunately, Michael was there and let me in with no problem.

We were also able to get parking outside of the building each night. Spent time cleaning water off of the floor, after each shower. Due to a leaking shower door.

• Sidney (7/5): It was ok... - The location was perfect for our trip. The accommodations were not as expected but they were sufficient. There were a few issues, with the bathroom. Initially some television/internet issues which the owner/host helped to resolve quickly. Also the space was a bit dated and lacked contemporary amenities. But after a few adjustments and a little patience our home away frelom home served it's purpose.

The townhouse is decorated with original artworks and antique finds – just being there is an incredible experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who are not looking for a generic hotel room.

• George (10/5): I enjoyed my stay. I will stay there again. - The apartment is very unusual. It feels a little bit like a museum. You have your own entrance to the second floor of a duplex inside of a 4 story building. I could hear the host below and the host probably could hear me. But you still have your total privacy. The host is a nice guy. I found the location very convenient. I used Metro North a lot and did not want to go the the Grand Central Station. Almost all trains stop at 125th street Metro North station which is not far. Going to midtown and downtown is also convenient - 2-3 stops on express subway train (lines 2 and 3). The electric outlets were very old and some did not work. It was cold in the bedroom but a small heater fixed the problem.
• Philippa (1/5): Do not stay here. - Do not stay here. The neighbourhood is not suitable. The apartment is just a room and the owner was also in the same building only separated by a mezzanine floor and a staircase. We could hear him on the phone and his TV was loud. The bed linen smelt. The room is not suitable to lease out. The bathroom was very mouldy. Everything.
